Here are my other posted photos of it, some from an outlook several miles away so you can look down and see it in context. It’s definitely worth a stop. https://www.flickr.com/search/?user_id=99496143%40N00=date-taken-desc=thor%20well_all=1 Do be careful, on one of my visits I got knocked over by a particularly large flood of water, both cameras went into the drink and my 15-30 stopped focusing. I sent it to Precision, they said it had water damage and could not be repaired and didn’t charge me, but it was working just fine. I think that banging the lens cap against the rocks might have just knocked a connector loose. It’s a hole in the rocks that connects to a cave and at tides over about +4 feet waves will push water up the hole, it will spout or flow onto the rocks and then flow back down the hole. On one of my trips I had gone to Devil’s punch bowl about half a mile North of there, and within a month or two, two different friends posted photos of Thor’s well. Re: Gallery Creation software recommendations
I'm admin of a couple of websites running WordPress that has plenty of photo gallery plugins. However I usually also prefer to SFTP upload galleries made in Jalbum. I have no desire to go through that experience again, so I'm looking for a fairly easy way to do this. It used to be possible to do it in Photoshop Elements (which is what I use for most of my day-to-day stuff) but apparently this feature disappeared in later versions - the only options I see now are ways to upload things to your facebook or twitter account, neither of which I have. John - I think jAlbum is probably hands down the best gallery software available for a reasonable price. It comes in two flavors - Standard and Pro - with the difference being the Pro allows you to use it for sales and have a shopping cart. Otherwise, the features are the same. There is a wide variety of skins available or you can customize your own and, unlike some others, you can have your own site rather than uploading to the "company" site. The Standard is $49 and includes a year of updates. After a year the software is still yours to use but you get no further updates without an annual purchase. https://jalbum.net/en/software/features -p On 6/19/2021 1:03 AM, John Francis wrote: A friend of mine has recently provided me with space on one of his machines where I can, amongst other things, host a photo gallery. I haven't submitted more in the last week or so but I've been voting every couple of days - my annoyance is their catagorization of my main interests as to subject matter. Being largely based on what I had had previously accepted from how people voted as opposed to what I submitted overall a few years ago. I'd prefer "eclectic". sigh ann On 10/29/2019 11:55 AM, Daniel J. Matyola wrote: I checked in to the PPG this morning, and was quite surprised. I am just curious as to who else is submitting and voting on images in the PPG, now that it is reactivated, and what kind of experiences you are having there. Overall, the "new" gallery is very nice, but I don't understand how Ricoh is handling the submissions process. Since the gallery was reactivated, I have had 3 submissions approved, and none declined. I had about 60 images in the "Pending Photos" queue, all submitted between March and June of 2018, and none of those has been processed. I submitted two on Sep 23, and both were approved in about a week. I submitted 13 on Sep 25, none of which has been processed. I submitted one on October 11, which was approved in less than two days. I submitted two more on Oct. 16, neither of which have yet been processed. It appears they are ignoring submissions from 2018, although they all still appear in the "Pending Photos" folder. The process for approving recent submissions seems almost random. Quite curious. The two images I submitted on Sep 23 have been approved and moved to the top of my gallery. I submitted a dozen on September 25, and none have yet been accepted or rejected. My "Pending Photos" collection includes another 50 or o that were submitted between January and June of 2018. I wonder if they will ever be processed. At least the PPG is working again! The upload system is working quite well, although, despite the instructions, it allowed me to upload more than five right at the start. 3. Approvals/Rejections. I have not had any of my images uploaded last year approved or rejected since the system went back up. Has anyone else had any images processed and approved or rejected? 4. Order of images. Until yesterday, all the images in my gallery were sorted with the oldest image first. This made it extremely difficult to tell im any were approved, as I had to scroll all the way down. A few updated comments on the PPG: 1. Voting. I am spending as much time voting as possible, but the backlog appears infinite. Re: Pentax Photo Gallery - Revived?
In general, the new gallery seems to function well, perhaps better than the old gallery. A few quirks I find a bit inconvenient: 1. When you log in and look at your own gallery, you can see the image titles, but not if you are not logged in or are looking at someone else's gallery. (I like the titles; sometimes they explain the image.) 2. The old galleries had the newest images at the top, and the oldest at the end. This starts with the oldest images (except for some unknown reason, they put 3 random images from 2011 ahead of my 2009 images, which are nicer!) This means I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see if anything has changed. 3. In the "All" gallery view, there is no indication if an image is approved, Pending or rejected. 4. No new entries in the Premiere Collection. If they add to that, that would be an indication that someone from Ricoh is actually looking at the images and evaluating them. All in all, I am just glad it is back. Yes you can search for artists, I found myself. Haven't looked at PPG for years and forgot my password. Everything is still there, even voting is working. My backlog should be l. I don't think this has been posted before but it seems that the PPG has had a makeover. https://pentaxphotogallery.com/ It seems to be a work-in-progress - I can't find any way to search for a particular photographer other than by scrolling down the 'Artists' Page and the old links to an artist's gallery no longer work. True enough. In fact, conventional dragsters are engineered to break just in front of the engine in a collision. Plus, weight transfer is accomplished via the chassis bowing.
