Actually, about 1/2 of them have been positive in tone. I think Pentaxians
tend to jump to negative conclusions a bit more than they should. Why
shouldn't a bigger company want to jump in on Pentax's DSLRs which have AS and

Yes, the news of the past couple of days has been a bit better. But
there are two things we cannot ignore:

1. Sparx is now in control. Hoya has given them authority to interview
all potential board members. We know what Sparx wants.

2. Hoya is primarily a business-to-business concern. Other than filters,
I don't know what they produce for mass markets. Even if Hoya keeps
DSLRs, will they know how to market them?

That's all Sparx wants to do. 50% for two years would make almost
anyone happy, but their management probably sees it as a failure.
Companies like Sparx are only in it for the money, there's nothing wrong
with that, but they don't care what kind of wreckage they leave behind them.

Pentax Board To Resign

2007-05-24 Thread Tom C
TOKYO (Nikkei)--All eight directors of Pentax Corp. will resign at the
firm's general shareholders meeting in late June to take responsibility for
causing confusion over a possible business integration with Hoya Corp.,

Pentax President Takashi Watanuki on Thursday morning expressed his

Kou Torigoe, a senior executive officer overseeing the firm's digital camera

digital version of the K1000 ( June 2007 Pop Photo).
I believe he has had a close relationship with Keppler over the years. That
should be a good thing.
On another forum, the Canadian fashion photographer that works out of Paris
apparantly has written and received a reply from Hoya re our concerns over
the future of Pentax.
Hopefully this will all be taken to heart by Hoya with the knowledge that
there is a large base of support out there for the brand. We will see soon
enough I am sure!

Pentax President Takashi Watanuki on Thursday morning expressed his
intention to leave the board, as have the seven other directors.

Kou Torigoe, a senior executive officer overseeing the firm's
 digital camera
operations, is expected to replace Watanuki as president.
