Re: What did we shoot this weekend?
It's a far better lens than its price would seem to indicate. I use mine quite frequently. I'll use it a lot more when the Pentax interchangeable lens digital camera makes it's appearance on the shelves. Unless the Pentax digital can only use FA lenses. That would be a pity, but not insurmountable. I still will have my PZ-1p and my Super Program to use the older K-mount lenses on, in any event. Glad you could arrange the loan of the lens. You should like it. The addition of a Sto-Fen Omnibounce will cover its whole field of view, too. A powerful flash won't hurt. :) Len --- Turns out a list member has a Zenitar 16/2.8 that he can lend me, so I'll give it a try. Thanks for the tip! I had fun shaving my head this weekend! After 3 years of having long hair I said Enough! I have a friend in the program that takes dilantin(sp?) to prevent depression from reoccurring. After many years flipping from normal into near catatonic depression, the docs finely found out (somewhat by accident) that what was sending her into depression was a form of epilepsy - apparently in an area of her brain that deals with mood. RE: What did we shoot this weekend?
Paul Stenquist [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] asked - Did anyone shoot film this weekend? snip Paul Actually I was going to take out the two newly skinned LXs, one with color slide the other with bw and just take some shots. This plan was slightly changed when I went to the Post Office Saturday morning to pick up a package containing my fourth LX. It is in great condition, a little better than the one I got from Shel. So, I packed the four LXs and had the MZ-S in the bottom of the Tamrac bag and headed to the store for a strap for the 'new' LX. Had a nice time hanging out there for a bit as it was slow. I loaded up the 'new' LX with slide film and the white cobra LX with bw. I had one hanging on each shoulder. One had the 77 Limited, the other the A24/2.8. I didn't need a bag as I carried an A50/1.4 in my jacket pocket. I ended up going to the old downtown area of Panama City. They had murals put up by the students of the various high schools. From there it was mostly the architecture and some of the colors represented by signs. This place is not known for having a lot people walking around. Definitely one thing I miss about NYC. I found a neat place for lunch since the Jamaican restaurant is closed until the 14th :-( I went through the 26 exposures rather quickly and did about 15 bw. I found out that I definitely like the feel of the snake skin on the LX. Also I need to get another grip for the new LX. It helps when hand carrying the camera. It was cool out - about 60ºF/16ºC - but with a good wind blowing. When I stepped into the restaurant to eat you could tell the temperature change on the normal LX. It felt a little slippery with the moisture. The snake skin LX felt fine, no change. I think I will like the skinned LXs a lot in terms of handling. My plans to go to one of the marinas and docks here yesterday were shattered by the severe winds that took dropped the temperatures incredibly. No sense in going out if I was not going to be comfortable shooting. I do plan to go this weekend though. That rodent (I think it's a Beaver, so it must be Canadian - you're right Bob) is actually with a Reconaissance Squadron. That's not a bazooka on his shoulder, its a screwmount 1000mm Tak, painted green, to look military. Due to underfunding, we couldn't afford the proper tripod, and all the Canadian Forces military issue Spotmatic bodies are, like most of our Navy and Airforce, in for re-fitting. They (the Spotties) are currently all at Kominek's Camera Repair here in Toronto being CLA'd, and Kominek's are currently trying to scrounge meter's from dead K1000's to retrofit, since all the meters on the Spots are dead. Re: What did we shoot this weekend?
Folks don't readily recognize depression when shown by itself. Contrast is necessary, else depression may simply appear as a deep reflective mood or deep sadness (which it is not). A clearly isolated individual in the midst of folks avidly engaged in normal social intercourse depicts depression as it is... an isolation of despair. Regards, Bob... Re: What did we shoot this weekend?
My first thought was to go for the grain, but I decided it would be almost cliché, so the first roll went to TX, which can provide a nice, controlled grain structure, which can be manipulated a bit with the condenser and the dichro head enlargers. But that's just technical stuff. The trick is to find the situations and the images that represent what's happening in this person's mind and in his life that show the turmoil, depression, and estrangement he feels. The first step, for me, is to photograph interior of the the house. Here's a case where some specialized equipment may be helpful. The widest, fastest lens that I have is a 20mm/4.0, although there's a 20mm coming that's a stop faster. I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting the Olympus Zuiko 21/2.0 a while back, but it would have required buying a separate camera or having the lens expensively modified for the Pentax. I'd love to get hold of a 18mm or a 15mm to capture a somewhat broader expanse into which I can place the subject, but then there's the tradeoff between speed and view. Well, there's plenty of time to experiment. Re: What did we shoot this weekend?
Hi Paul! Took my Pentax 6x7, and my 400mm lens and shot some film up in the mountains on Sat. Got some chromes of a waterfall with a bit of moss and ice around the pool. It was fun!! - Original Message - From: Paul Stenquist [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Pentax Discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2002 10:41 AM Subject: What did we shoot this weekend? Did anyone shoot film this weekend? We had some wet sticky snow in Southeast Michigan, so I went out in the backyard this morning with a tripod and the 6x7, and the 150/2.8, and shot some snow coated evergreen branches. I shot Plus X, which I like quite a lot in medium format. I rated it at 100, and will probably soup it in D=76 1:1 later this afternoon. Yesterday I went to the nearest town (Birmingham) and shot some storefronts, a cemetary (that was a bit spooky), and a couple that I met on the street. I used the same camera and lens handheld, with Tri-X rated at 200. I developed it in the D-76 and printed four or five frames last night. Lots of fun. Well, Almost nothing... :-( I was very busy preparing a slide show on Saturday, and Sunday I woke up too late to benefit from a good light... I shot a dozen of slides of my youngest cat Nembo (which means nimbus, barely three months old) climbed on my father's shoulders on Friday, at sunset (with MZ-3 and FA*85/1.4), but that's almost all... Why not borrow a Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 in Pentax K-mount? Or do you need to stay rectilinear all the way? The widest, fastest lens that I have is a 20mm/4.0, although there's a 20mm coming that's a stop faster. I'm kinda kicking myself for not getting the Olympus Zuiko 21/2.0 a while back, but it would have required buying a separate camera or having the lens expensively modified for the Pentax. Re: What did we shoot this weekend?
Two reasons: I'm not familiar with the lens, so I didn't even think about it and I don't know anyone who has a sample that I can borrow. Perhaps a third reason is that I'd have to return it, and sometimes I get sidetracked with details like that, so I wouldn't want to borrow anything unless the lender knew that it might be a while before it was returned, or that they may have to remind me about it once or twice. I know my weaknesses. g Len Paris wrote: Why not borrow a Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 in Pentax K-mount? Took ZX-5n, 24/2 and a roll of Superia 800 to EZ's (burger/pizza joint w/tasty poblano-veggie burgers) and then on to Borders Books. Mainly got shots of my son, against colorful backdrops, scowling and/or shaking his fist at me. Funny how a kid who loves to see himself in photos HATES to have his photo taken... I put a roll through my new KM. We were all over Long Island looking for wedding spots. Hello, I`m a sick man. I shot my LX with my Super Program. I want a good shot of it for my webpage. I tried no flash a couple of weeks ago, but got too much of a yellowish cast, I liked the flash shots, but the pentaprism gets too glary, so I tried two flash at 45 degrees with the room dark to avoid glare from the ceiling light. We`ll see. I need another LX to shoot the LX. Steve Larson Redondo Beach, California Paul Stenquist wrote: Did anyone shoot film this weekend? - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. That is a good idea (big smile)! I do love the Super Program (and Spotties), but I need another LX, maybe four.
