If you edit RFC and add changelog comment the mail should be set to mailing list. Instead an error message that mail can not be sent is displayed, BUT changelog comment is actually added to the page WHILE RFC contents is not modified. Other problem include links that are not rendered, then navigation problems. It seems like the first (if in this case) is appended to the original TOC-page while only the remainders are split off. IMO it should be split off too. Unfortunately, I don't know enough of the phpdoc internal build process to know how to do this... I'll have a look at it later, but maybe one of the build-masters have any ideas on this? longer life span and/or heavy I/O, she'd better avoid using
parsed expressions inside strings?

We could link to all three with emphasis on darwinports. Also, these docs should never link to a specific file as they do currently (libphp4.so.gz), these docs should be generic in nature. 2. Compiling it The documentation should provide information for users wanting to compile PHP themselves as currently this information does not exist within the 'MacOS X Client' docs. There are some user comments that look helpful for this, and if needed we could also ask a few mac experts out there for helpful tips/info for making this process work, and mention common problems that could come about. 3. The provided by Marc Liyanage can be removed, we do not write author information in the manual. The main question here is do the docs need additional Apache2 sections or should we change our 2.0.X title to 2.X.X and include some 2.2.X specific notes within. The problem is these entities were created before the install.pecl chapter existed in the manual. Windows DLL locations have also changed. Changes needed: - Deal with Windows DLL's as the links have changed. The new URL for these is: http://pecl4win.php.net/ Note which are included in core ext/ and which are bundled in the separate pecl dll download, and keep track of php versions (this info changes through php 4, 5, 5.1, 5.2, 6) so for example a dll may be with core from php4-5, but moved to the pecl downloads in 5.1+ - Collaborate with the pecl.php.net team for said dll files. OK, nice, that explains the difference to php4.
unset($res) is not sufficient ... obviously,

class test

var $backtrace= null;
function test()
{
$this-backtrace = debug_backtrace();
unset($this-backtrace[0]['object']);

does not break anymore.
However, this circular reference is due to the new 'object' returned by
debug_backtrace() which is not documented.
It merits a *big* warning.
Also, it had been nice to be able to do it by __destruct() , but it's
not called by unset() ...

Backtrace information that is returned from debug_backtrace() contains
reference to $this object. So this examle creates circular data
structure.
PHP cannot free circular structures at runtime and does free them on
request shutdown.
So this bug is the same as bug #33595 (recursive references leak
memory).

Here, it's not a question of local variable within a method.
And we actually unset the created object.
If I do the same with $this-backtrace = str_pad(' ', 2300); then the
memory is not eaten up.
This occurs only if debug_backtrace() result is affected to a property
of the test object.

debug_print_backtrace()'s manual page mentions that this function returns
void.
In fact, it seems to return an empty array (tested under 5.1.2 and
5.1.1-gentoo)
I'm not sure what needs to be changed:
The function definition in the php source or the documentation. If its the
latter one, then here is the patch:

(e.g. http://php.net/preg_match_all http://php.net/preg_replace_callback) The fact that chars used as delimiter must be escaped in the regex is already stated here: http://php.net/pcre#pcre.intro The point is : having to escape a delimiter in the regex is almost always due to a wrong choice of delimiter. So must we demonstrate that wrong choice ? I agree that the alternative could be another char, like !. But then the examples using | could be changed. Is it worth it ? Anyway, the . escaped in a character class must be changed, because it would fail using the PCRE_EXTRA (X) modifier (I agree that its not ofted used but still ;) ). Description:
The manual page for split() currently points to preg_split() as a way to
emulate @chars = split('', $str) in Perl.
In PHP 5 we have str_split(), which is significantly faster and far more
intuitive than preg_split() for this usage.
It would also make sense to mention this on the preg_split() page.

Patch updated on 2005-12-02 15:55 EST (GMT -500).
Updated patch includes changelog for reference.xml.
As recommended by Daniel Convissor, Seems like an explanation of the
pre-5.1 and post-5.1 return values would be most helpful in the
returnvalues refsect. This is not included in the patch. If there is a
sample of what this type of change might look like, please point me to
it and I will add it to the patch file.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
