Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2008-12-16 Thread Skye

Glad to hear you got it working, Merlinwerks.
I'm using VAC, single cable, to patch the output of a DVB-S PCI card to
WaveInput (Many quite decent classical radio stations on satellite over
Europe). Originally I used it because there wasn't a sound card in the
server PC, but it's so fit-and-forget I use it in preference to the
sound card now. It's handy to be able to constrain the sample rate to
48kHz to match DVB.
Now if only WaveInput would be integrated into SqueezeCenter, I could
forget that too.

The only drawback of the current waveinput plugin is that it only
 allows for one simultaneous connection.

In what way ?

If you want more than one connection to same source - sync the
players.

If you havemore than one source (e.g. mulitple soundcard, line-in port)
then you can play each one simultaneously using Favorites for wavin:1
and for wavin:2 etc.

to patch the output of a DVB-S PCI card to WaveInput

Skye,

I've got a plugin nearly finished which works with PCI Tuner cards for
analog TV and FM on Windows (not with MCE running) Linux. Direct
from card to SC - Tuning from SC. I reckon it can be adapted for
DVB-S card as long as the card has proper Windows support.

When I announce - if you're interested - post a reply to see if a mod
can be done.

That's the important part. Perl (and all the other binaries included) needs to

I used Direct Sound in JRMC and Virtual Cable 1 for the output. As
long as certain conditions are met, as outlined 'HERE'
(http://code.google.com/p/cmediadrivers/wiki/Bitperfect), Direct Sound
is bit perefect in XP 32. I used a DTS wave file from 'HERE'
(http://www.kellyindustries.com/sounds.html) to test, I have my SBR
connected via SPDIF to my Emotiva MMC-1 processor. I do have a good
sound card (RME Digi96/8 PAD) in that machine, but it lacks the
TotalMix functionality of the DSP based RME cards, so the only way to
get a loopback is to use a physical cable, which I wanted to avoid. With
VAC, as long as you don't need analog inputs for an external device you
don't even need a sound card. The only drawback I can see at this
moment is you have to wait for the buffer in the SBR to fill/empty, so
there is a delay when skipping around a playlist manually.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezecenter Mediamonkey Integration

I use one of the custom tags in MediaMonkey that I would like Erland's
CustomScan plugin to pick up so that I can use it as the base for a
MultiLibrary within SqueezeCenter. I use it to put owner info in so
that I scan split my library based on who likes what music. I know
there is a FILEOWNER tag that I have set using mp3Tag and have
successfully scanned into SC but MediaMonkey can't see it so I can't
really use it.

MediaMonkey's custom tag is called COMMENT SONGS-DB_CUSTOM1
(according to mp3Tag) but I can't seem to get CustomScan to pick it up
and the MultiLibrary reports as being empty.

Has anyone had success using CustomScan to grab the MediaMonkey custom
tags, or, even better, does anyone know if MediaMonkey can be made to
display the FILEOWNER tag?

Thanks, Doug

stands outside SC and is not impacted by updates)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Wave Input plugin v1.00

2008-12-16 Thread Skye

bpa,
Very interested in your DVB to SC plugin.

The present method I'm using sort of works but is laughably inelegant.

WHS, Technisat SkyStar 2 PCI, DVBviewer, VAC, WaveInput, SC Version:
7.3 - 23652 with xPL enabled, Pronto remote to send JVC IR codes in
addition to SB codes.

Channel change is achieved by xPL picking up the JVC IR from my Boom or
SB3 and a 'determinator' in xPL HALManager causing an action to send a
command to the PCI card and display the station name (briefly) on the
originating Squeezebox device.

Mad - just the sort of botch that you have to resort to if you can't
program.
So, I'll be keeping an eager lookout for your plugin.

Yup, Media Center 13.exe is up and running in the task manager. I've

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] rtsp error Ubuntu/Debian AlienBBC v2.02 Beta1

2008-12-16 Thread bpa

Describe the problem in more detail as that can indicate the source
ofthe problem

For example.

1. Stuttering with no loss of content (i.e. gaps but audio is
continuous) usually means a problem with SC server or connection
between SC and SB

2. Stuttering with loss of content (i.e. gaps but audio is missing)
usually means a problem between SC and BBC.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC plugin stops after around 75 minutes...

2008-12-16 Thread dpuopolo

It began happening after I upgraded to Squeezecenter 7.3. Alien BBC
completely stopped, so I deleted it from my computer and then
reinstalled it via the Extension Downloader. That got it going again,
but now it does this time out thing that everyone here is talking
about.

If I knew that i was going to have so much trouble with my plugins
(last.fm also stopped working as did Weathertime), I would have stayed
with 7.2!!

Could it be a problem with the 7.3 beta plug in?

Was that removed? How do I go about browsing by sub-genres (i.e.

You will need to create a new menu in the Custom Browse settings page

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC plugin stops after around 75 minutes...

2008-12-16 Thread bpa

There is no difference in the applications which handling the AlienBBC
RealAudio between 7.2 and 7.3 - in fact no change since about 6.x.

The 7.3 only add different menu handling which is about obtaining the
URl toplay - nothing to do with playing.

I believe there was a firmware bug relating to Flac which was fixed for
7.3 - this bug caused some stoppages.

The BBC change their server and network all the time and this causes
intermittent problem with users.

I managed to sort out my problem of finding and deleting the iPlayer
folders. In case anyone has a similar issue with a QNAP device, I did
the following:
- Using PuTTy: cd /share/HDA_DATA/SqueezeCenter/Plugins (location found
in Squeezecenter/Settings/Advanced/Extension Downloader - thanks bpa)
- Then delete any all iPlayer folders: rm -rf BBCiPlayer etc.
- Restart Squeezecenter.
- Install BBCiPlayer plugin using the Extension Downloader - totally
painless
- Restart Squeezecenter
- Job's a good 'un!

And as Triode said - it'll be a doddle to uninstall it next time!

Progress of a sort... The menus now appear on the SBC after applying
your patch but the Grab Send Playlist options don't appear to do
anything. The power on/off squeezebox does work as does the sync
option.

As a future enhancement, could the same symmetry be applied to syncing
as has been applied to playlists? By this I mean could there be options
to sync from player A (current player picks up player A's music and
starts playing it), and sync to Player A (player a picks up current
player's music and starts playing it).
BTW, I'm now running the official release of SC 7.3

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.3: updates for SaverSwitcher, SyncOptions, PlayLog, and others

2008-12-16 Thread Triode

Philip Meyer;370743 Wrote:
which Alien does as there are multiple versions due to api changes

That brings up another issue - how do we handle different versions of a
plugin for different versions of SC?

At the moment, the Extension Downloader is SC7.3 only, and therefore
all plugins listed in a repository will have been built for 7.3.

When newer revisions of SC are out, a pluign author may need to create
different versions for each SC version. Would the plugin just appear in
the repository several times with different min/max version ranges?

If a plugin only works with 7.3, and a user upgrades from 7.3 to 8.0,
what will happen with the installed plugin? Will extension downloader
uninstall it, or indicate that it is incompatible? If there is also a
newer version that does work with 8.0, will be automatically upgrade
 the installed plugin?

Please read the documentation There's a min and mac target version
and target type in the repo format - this allows two versions of Alien
to be hosted now (windows and max/linux) and users to always get the
right one. It will also allow multiple versions of a plugin to he
hosted too. What we don't do at present is automatically change the
version installed when the server is updated - need to think about how
that should happen...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: AlienBBC 2.4a2 for 7.3

2008-12-16 Thread Triode

According to the download stats there have been a reasonable number of
downloads of the 7.3 version via extension downloader
(http://code.google.com/p/alienbbc/downloads/list)

Does anyone have any feedback on how well this worked?

I've got a minor update pending which resolves a couple of issues but
wanted to check people were not experiencing major problems.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MC2 Slim/JRiver Media Center: No Sync

2008-12-16 Thread Craig

No I meant a valid Squeezebox, that player name looks strange if your
server is at 10.0.0.2.

Which version of MC are you using? I'm on 13.0.91 but It's worked with
MC13 since the first betas.

It is safe to have MC12 and MC13 installed at the same time as long as
they are in different directories - maybe it's worth a try?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2008-12-16 Thread gregthegrate

I have loaded the new version of AlienBBC, after removing the old
version completely. I have also removed the file alienbbc.opml from
the Cache directory. I have also reset both my computer and the
device.

I can see all the stations on the Squeezebox, but when I select them, I
get a message
Getting Stream Info which it does for a long while then goes to
playing with no buffering message, but the counter doesn't move and
there's no sound.

When I try the Listen Agains, I get Playlist Empty

This also means that none of the Australian radio stations that I tried
work either.

Would welcome some help

2008-12-16 Thread bpa

What OS are you using ?
This thread starts with AlienBBC 2.02 - the current version of AlienBBC
is 2.04 - which version are you using ?

If on Windows it sounds like mplayer is not installed ?
If On Linux/OSX is sounds like mplayer.sh cannot be run or mplayer is
not installed or is not in the expected directory.

Are the RTSP entries enabled (i.e. not greyed) in SC web page
Settings/Advanced/Filetypes ?

OK, all fixed now (promise this time!). If you previously downloaded a
copy of Plugin.pm from me please re-download from the same place and
you should be set.

As for future enhancements, sounds like a good idea (and is in fact a
TODO in the file) but it's not my plugin it's Max's. Once I hear from
him about my patches we can look at new stuff.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver

2008-12-16 Thread GoCubs

smagnuson;371232 Wrote:
First, thank you for creating and maintaining a fantastic plugin. I've
used it for a couple of years now on my SB3.

I just acquired a Boom for my bedside table, and I set the Standby Font
to Full Narrrow, and set the SDT display as shown below. This gives
me what I'm looking for: The ability to see the time from across the
room (time is full size) and see the temperature on the Boom when I'm
 in bed.

One thing, though: When the standby font and SDT are set up in this
way, the alarm icon is ALSO full size (same size as the time). The SDT
 update asterisk is also super-sized.

Is there any way to set up SDT in the way I described and return the
alarm icon to normal size? I'm thinking it's possible because the Date
and Time screensaver that comes with SqueezeCenter allows you to display
the time full size and the alarm icon is normal size in the upper right
 corner.

Thanks again for a wonderful plug-in.

Hey Steve-

Thanks for the feedback. It's interesting to hear how everyone
configures the plugin. Speaking of which, maybe we should start a new
thread on the various SDT screen configurations people are using with
screen shots/captures...

On the surface one wouldn't think the code supporting SDT's
functionality would be that complicated. But to get everything to work
right for various players and fonts with the flexibility the plugin
offers using the display APIs can be tricky.

I don't have time or patience to test all the possible configuration
permutations. While doing a simple fix for one issue I often introduce
other less obvious ones. I personally use the two line font with the
smaller top text so that one get's the most testing/attention. The
single line large font often needs special logic to be added. I'll
have to take a look to see how the overlays are handled on it.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New versions of erlands plugins

2008-12-16 Thread erland

The TrackStat 2.5.1 is now available, the corrected/new functionality
is:
- Corrected so MusicIP integration works correctly.
- Corrected so Not Completely Rated statistics works correctly.

NOTE!
It can still be installed the old way, but if you run SqueezeCenter 7.3
the recommended way is to use the Extension Downloader in SqueezeCenter
settings.
Use the repository url listed here:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeCenter_Repositories

NOTE2
If you are using Windows Vista, install manually and get errors when
unzipping the plugins, you may need to install the hotfix:
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/952249

If you are a developer that want to make sure my plugins are
continuously developed, please see this thread:
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41583

If you are a normal user that want to help:
- Post bugs whenever you find them, either in the 'issue tracker on the
google code site' (http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/) or in '3rd
party plugins' section of this forum.
- Help updating the information about these plugins and related
tutorials on the 'Slim Devices wiki site'

As usual the plugins are available from my download page for people
that don't want to use the Extension Downloader:
http://erland.isaksson.info/download
(If you are using 7.3 it's preferable to install through the Extension
Downloader in SqueezeCenter Settings instead).

The documentation about the plugins is now stored on the Slim Devices
wiki site but can also be reached through my own wiki:
http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer
(If you find an error in the documentation, please update the text on
the wiki)

Hi there,

I cannot find a file AlienBBC.opml search reveals this file in FLAC
d:Share\Music plus a back up and in Music d:\shares which also has a
backup

In Plugins\Playlist there are only two files RTSPPL.pm and SMIL.pm.

As I say I have WMA feeds for some of my radio and I can access
AlienBBC live feeds if that makes sense.

The file alienbbc.opml (all lowercase) will be in a SqueezeCenter not
Alien Playlist directory. This is the directory you set in SC web page

If you have not set up this Playlist directory then SC will use the
SqueezeCenter Cache directory which is shown on the 5th line from the
