Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Activate AutoDim via cli/bash

2009-08-25 Thread peterw

If you want to try this with AutoDisplay, try version 2.1.8 which is now
in my testing repository,
http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata-test.xml

You will need to be using SqueezeCenter 7.3 -- I have not tested with
7.2, so the installation file for AutoDisplay specifies that SC 7.3 is
required, even though it probably would work with 7.2.x, probably even
7.0.x, if you wanted to install it manually (including editing the
install.xml file).

AutoDisplay uses 4 different player prefs: autodisplay_off_time (time
to go dim at night), autodisplay_on_time (time to restore the normal
brightness), autodisplay_flag (whether to use AutoDisplay for the
player, 0=no, 1=yes), and autodisplay_brightness (brightness level,
0=dark, etc.). Version 2.1.8 now reassesses the dim/bright schedule if
you change the on or off times.

Times for autodisplay_off_time and autodisplay_on_time are expressed as
seconds after midnight local time. E.G., 10 pm is 20:00 hours, so that
would be 72000. To set the preference, you'd use a CLI command like

Code:

00:04:20:11:22:33 playerpref plugin.autodisplay:autodisplay_off_time 72000

Let me know how it goes!

Peter

OK, I'm not completely sure I understand the symptoms you are
describing. Can you clarify the following:

You are using SC 7.3.3 as stated in your sig?

When you say SrvrPowerCtrl "always schedule an alarm for one minute
after it times out" are you, in fact, referring to "scheduling a
wake-up"? Or do you actually mean that SrvrPowerCtrl is somehow
creating *alarms*?

If you do meant *wake-ups*, have you verified that SrvrPowerCtrl is
actually scheduling these wake-ups by checking the SCPowerTool.log?
(It's entirely possible that something else is waking up the server.)

When you say "it will not wake up again when I resume playing music" do
you mean that the server fails to wake-on-lan?

Will get something done over the weekend. But it won't be a plugin.
It will be a separate script that you need to run outside of
SqueezeCentre. Something like the flac2mp3 script if you've used that.

This doesn't work for me. I just installed it on my OSX music server
(a Mac Mini, fully updated with OSX 10.5 and SlimServer 7.3.3).

I installed it with the plugin installer, restarted the server, and
Sugarcube shows up in the plugins list. I can configure it and turn it
on from the plugins tab in the settings screen, but it doesn't show up
in the Extras menu and it doesn't choose the next song. I am not
running MusicIP in headless mode, but the port is correct and I can
build a MusicIP mix like I always have, so my MusicIP configuration
isn't the problem. Any suggestions?

Is there any chance you will be able to sort out my problem? Have you
been able to reproduce the behaviour? Currently, SPC works very
unreliably for me.

When SqueezeCenter is started, it will always schedule an alarm for one
minute after it times out. Then I have to switch off the end of day
action or alarm interaction (or both?) to stop that, but then it will
not wake up again when I resume playing music. When I am lucky, I then
manage to get it into a state where it repeats the idle timeout period

It should have been a problem!
Try RC2 - I did discover a few niggling bugs with key handling that
cropped up under certain circumstances. Remember to backup your
SqueezeIRData.txt file first, before trampling the SqueezeIR folder on
your SBC with the new one! Also included is your request to re-enable
the screensaver. Just put 'SCREENSAVER -1' on its own line into
SqueezeIR.txt (-1 = leave screensaver setting as is, 0=disable whilst in
SqueezeIR, 1=enable whilt in SqueezeIR - even if disabled elsewhere)

Auto Display needs some minor changes to allow you to change the dim
time via CLI (you can change the preference with the CLI, but Auto
Display currently won't re-assess its "next run" schedule in response to
a preference change via CLI).

Have you looked at Gordon Harris' SvrPowerControl plugin
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521)? I'm not sure
what you hope to achieve with Auto Display, but there's a good chance
that Gordon's plugin will be of interest to you -- many people use it to
make Squeezeboxes handle server shutdowns more gracefully.

2009-08-25 Thread indifference_engine

RC2 (BETA) Has arrived and is obtainable from the attachment on the
first post in this thread.

Changes since the last release (RC1) are:
- PAN_NEW Protocol amended to send once code twice for reliability.
This may be part of the protocol spec?
- SqueezeIRData.txt changed from UNIX format (Lf line termination) to
DOS format (CrLf line termination).
- RAW_HEX Protocol renamed to NATIVE to prevent confusion with other
"raw hex" formats (eg pronto).
- LIRC Protocol added to support some SPACE_ENC codes from the LIRC
database.
- Versioning applied to SqueezeIRData.txt for future-proofing.
- Screensaver can be left as is, disabled or enabled via
SqueezeIR.txt. Syntax is . If missing then assumed
to be -1.
- Menu transition speeds and popup times have been optimised.
- Fixed bug where simultaneous key presses (eg KEY_VOLUME_MUTE) were
sending the individual key codes aswell.
- Fixed bug where lower case version of protocol name wouldn't work.
- Fixed bug where white-space in certain places in SqueezeIR.txt
wasn't being ignored.
- Fixed bug where sounds stopped working after coming out of a
sub-menu.
- Fixed bug that could arise if a 'MENU' or 'ACTION' type had a TITLE
that was numerically equivalent to a KEY_CODE.
- Included SqueezeIR.txt config file renamed to SqueezeIR.sample.txt
to prevent overwriting the users' version.
- Removed system-generated suffixes to pupup text.

NB: If you have used "RAW_HEX" in your SqueezeIR.txt file thn you must
replace all instances of it with "NATIVE".

Good luck!

Thanks for the very helpful suggestions.

I uninstalled SC as suggested by milosz, then downloaded it again.

I also deleted Inguz, and re-downloaded. It now loads.

I have been looking for some form of 'tone control' or equalisation,

really well.

I don't think that's the problem - the same IR codes work when I set
TYPE = ACTION, but not when I set TYPE = KEY.

Just to make sure, I have tried your suggestion, but still no luck - as
far as I can see, no IR commands are being sent when I try to issue the
commands with a button (the power led on the NAD flashes briefly
whenever it receives a command, and in this case it doesn't do
anything).

Any other suggestions? Shouldn't it be possible to just change TYPE
from ACTION to KEY and then specify which key in the TITLE column?

In DENON, all parameters must be 3 digits. SqueezeIR is not very clever
and if it doesn't like the look of the file it just crashes out. A
future release will have error trapping but I don't know how to do it
yet. I'm also thinking of changing the config file to xml. So, try

Yes, it does look like an SB Classic and irBlaster plugin can record ir
control codes. Those codes should then be easily portable to SqueezeIR
to allow the SBC to control your kit.
then there's this:
http://badros.blogspot.com/2009/05/iphone-as-universal-remote-using.html
Which allows you to send ir commands from a web-browser using the SBC
as an emitter. But noe of the above allow the SBC to send codes
generated internally from the SBC, hence SqueezeIR.

Just some clarification for non-UK users.

UK Local radio live is not available yet for non-UK users as BBC still
uses RealAudio but AAC and WMA is planned to happen in Autumn ( see
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/bbcinternet/2009/08/improvements_to_bbc_local_radi.html

available to non-UK users.

UK local radio listen again works for non-UK users.

Firstly, I'm honoured to have some of the forum's heavyweights gracing
my little thread!

I don't know what the Transporter, Boom & SB classic do with their
received ir codes and as I don't have either of them I can't find out.
However, looking at the irBlaster description here:
http://www.gwendesign.com/slimserver/dev_hard_and_software.htm#irblaster
indicates to me that the raw codes from the player are indeed forwarded
to squeezecenter. The codes and square-waves on the second screenshot
look just like SqueezeIR's NATIVE protocol so if the codes can be
captured with squeezecenter (and it looks like they can) then conversion
should be trivial. I'm thinking of moving SqueezeIR's config file from
csv to xml which might make life easier, I just have to learn how read
xml first!

I actually came to the forum today to see if there was a plugin to do
this very thing. I am not a programmer, so I can offer no advice

every day and would be happy to test out any beta versions you might
have. Right now, I kind of do this manually by going to last.fm,
expanding my list of artists, scrolling down to the bottom, and seeing
if there is anything that grabs me, and then putting it into my
playlist. Since I listen to Pandora a lot at work (which I scrobble
using pandorafm.real-ity.com), my TrackStat does not match my last.fm
profile.

I would use a-d, especially if you could break it down by timescale as
well (for instance, 'view the artists least played in the last 6
months')

I didn't create the plugin - I have been doing maintenance on it.

I would advise testing BBCiPLayer as it is now out of beta.
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=451721&postcount=408

AlienBBC uses web pages to create menus and get program info which is a
high maintenance activity. BBCiPlayer uses the BBC XML feed which is the
better and quicker ways of getting same info. Also BBCiPlayer uses AAC
streams which use faad to decode which has uses less CPU and memory than
mplayer and AAC have better quality than RealAudio at same speed.

It is hoped to retire AlienBBC as soon as Local Radio goes AAC. Then
AlienBBC will just need to provide RealAudio support for a few stations
and not maintain the BBC menus.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2009-08-25 Thread Triode

Announcing version 0.9 of the BBCiPlayer plugin. This supports
Squeezecenter 7.3.x and 7.4 (but will have slightly some slight
restrictions with 7.3). It includes major internal rewite to make use
of the FlashAAC/MP3 streams where possible. This allows support of non
UK as well as UK based users. Note the bitrates available outside the
UK are restricted to 48kbit.

Major features:
- UK National listen live streams using AAC
- UK National listen again streams for the last 7 days of bbc radio
output using AAC
- UK Regional listen live and listen again streams using AAC
- UK Local radio listen again streams using MP3

Known restrictions:
- it is sometimes necessary to go back to the top of the menu hierachy
and then nativate back to a stream if you want to restart it. This is
resolved with 7.4
- bookmarking streams using the preset buttons on boom should be done
from the menu entry for a stream rather than the now playing screen.
- creates more server cpu load than the pervious version of iPlayer.
This is because aac streams are transcoded on the server.

Thanks to Bryan(bpa) for extensive testing of the streams outside the
uk as I am unable to do this.

Enyoy..

(everything wouldn't fit in a single message.)

As for mplayer, it comes from source, currently this is version
"1.0~rc2-17+lenny3". I hacked horribly debian/rules (and changelog, and
control and other files because I wanted to build an "mplayer-alienbbc"
package, that would not conflict with mplayer, as a safety measure.) I
mostly disabled stuff in the makefile at the step marked with the "# Add
commands to configure the package here." (you bet.)
After that, running "fakeroot debian/rules clean binary" launches a
build that includes autodetection by configure, slightly tamed by the
--disable options that were in the makefile. The compile trace for the
successful build shows this at the end of configure (carriage returns
are mine):

Code:

#Config files successfully generated by ./configure --prefix=/usr
--confdir=/etc/mplayer-alienbbc
  --datadir=/usr/share/mplayer-alienbbc --codecsdir=/usr/lib/codecs
--disable-xvmc --disable-sdl
  --enable-ossaudio --enable-largefiles --disable-gl --disable-iconv
--disable-langinfo
  --disable-radio-bsdbt848 --disable-tv --disable-tv-v4l1 --disable-tv-v4l2
--disable-tv-bsdbt848
  --disable-tv-teletext --disable-pvr --disable-dvdnav --disable-dvdread

  --disable-ivtv --disable-tv --disable-radio-v4l2 --disable-gui
--disable-bitmap-font --disable-gl
  --disable-ggi --disable-xvid --disable-xmms --disable-arts --disable-aa
--disable-mad --disable-libdv
  --enable-libavutil_so --enable-libavcodec_so --enable-libavformat_so
--enable-libpostproc_so
  --disable-faad-internal --enable-faad-external --target=i586-linux
--enable-win32dll --enable-real
  --disable-xanim --enable-runtime-cpudetection --disable-libdvdcss-internal
--disable-dvdread
  --disable-mencoder --enable-debug --disable-tv-v4l2 --disable-xmga
--disable-mga --disable-3dfx
  --disable-tdfxfb --disable-fbdev !

Then the process went on compiling all the codecs on earth, I didn't
have the nerve to disable each of them separately.

And it works, finally. I can't seem to find an --info or --version
switch on the command-line for the confounded thing, but here is a basic
idea:
Code:

otto:~# mplayer
  MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.3.2-DFSG-free (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team
  CPU: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2600+ (Family: 15, Model: 44, Stepping: 2)
  CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
  Compiled with runtime CPU detection.

AlienBBC works great. Little CPU use, forcibly suspending the machine
then resuming doesn't seem to end with a zombie. Great.

*bpa*, let me once again thank you for a fantastic plugin, and your
support.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Scan problem witn Amazon scans (400: Bad request)

2009-08-25 Thread erland

If anyone likes to practice some perl programming, I believe what needs
to be done to make the Amazon scanning module in Custom Scan work again
is described on this page:
http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/index.html?rest-signature.html

The signature needs to be generated in CustomScan/Modules/Amazon.pm
file in the scanAlbum function just above this line:

Code:

  $log->debug("Calling url: $url\n");

I don't have the time to look at this myself at the moment.

If your a geel you'd like trackstat plugin. Keeps stats of what you
play and allows you to create dynamic playlists of what you play most.
Also incorporates ratings. One of the weather/date/time plugins. I

But doesn't Lazysearch need a remote with number buttons? If all he has
is a Boom, it won't work, since the small Boom remote does not have
number buttons.

Music Information Screen is a good one for the Boom. Lets you customize
what is shown on the screen with a lot more flexibility than what you
can do with Squeezecenter alone.

MusicIP is great if you like listening to mixes.

If you move the Boom between outdoors and a bedroom like I do, the
Reset Volume plugin will save your ears. Lets you set a default volume
that it goes to every time it's turned on.

I'm not sure if Slim::Schema::* will work for a standalone
application.

Please, note that I'm not sure I've done this the correct way. I think
I asked in the Developers section but I didn't get an answer so I just
tried different variants until it worked.

Have a look at the _exectue method in this file:
http://erlandplugins.googlecode.com/svn/CustomBrowse/trunk/src/MenuHandler/SQLHandler.pm

As you can see I'm in SqueezeCenter 7.3 and earlier I'm using:

Code:

  Slim::Utils::Unicode::utf8on(Slim::Utils::Unicode::utf8decode($name,'utf8'));

Or in Squeezebox Server 7.4 and later:

Code:

  Slim::Utils::Unicode::utf8decode($name,'utf8');

I think the different behaviors is because some change in the
Slim::Utils::Unicode module between 7.3 and 7.4.

Also please note that you can get really strange behavior if you use
the strings in log messages. The reason is that perl sometime converts
strings when you concatenate two strings with different encoding, the
result is that the code could suddenly start to work when you add a log
message.

I also have a related how-to question:

I there a way to have the left part of the web interface (where custom

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Weird interface problems with *CB skins

2009-08-25 Thread el_jefe

Hi guys!

I have weird problems with DefaultCB and FishboneCB interfaces. I have
Custom Browse and Custom Scan installed and I've added some manues and
header/footer items. I followed Erland's instructions and changed my
interface skin to DefaultCB at first and then to FishboneCB. However, I
have problems with both.

FishboneCB displays the CustomBrowse Sonf Info page only when I click
on the titile, album or artist links in the now playing part of the web
interface (e.g. top right where the album art and play/pause etc.
controls are). If I click on the title, album or artist names in the
playlist part, it opens the normal Song Info page.

DefaultCB does it the other way around - it only shows custom browse
info when I click on the playlist. In addition, when I switch to
DefaultCB, I din't see the "cursor" (the horizontal line with the Play,
Play next, add to playlist etc. controls) in the right side of the web
interface.

ClassicCB is the only one which works properly, but I it's not my cup
of tea.

I am running SqueezeCenter 7.3.3 on Windows 7, tried with both Firefox
3.5.2 and IE8.

Thanks in advance!

2009-08-25 Thread bpa

You should provide detail on the underlying system - processor, memory,
graphics etc. and also what option were used to build mplayer.

If you areusing 7.3 or higher - you should try the BBCiPlayer 0.9 beta
( http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml ) . It
supports non UK users through the recently made available AAC streams so
that you will be using faad instead of mplayer.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Out-of-place but Alien related: mplayer segfaults under debian lenny/sid ?

2009-08-25 Thread epoch1970

Hum. I was very close to give up and try migrating the mplayer.sh script
to vlc.
Lucky me I found that I needed to --disable-gl to get rid of a segfault
in the configure stage for PNG, JPG, Gif (don't ask me why, I never
installed any graphical layer on this machine.)

Then I had in turn to --disable a bunch of random features/codecs to
get the code to actually compile. At last AlienBBC runs on my machine
(amd64). mplayer won't easily compile static, but I renamed and pinned
the debian packages and normally a simple "apt-get mplayer" won't
destroy the AlienBBC feature.

I understand mplayer's source code is highly optimized, running and
compiling may be difficult. However, a list of minimal configure
switches, to get audio only and none of the video or gui features would
have been nice.
The kitchen-sink configure script doesn't provide any hierarchy when
looking to enable/disable features en-masse. I couldn't find such list
of "audio only" switches anywhere on the net.

So I tied streaming trough iTunes installed on my PC:

1) MP3 320kbs file works without problem (NAS CPU usage 3,6%)
2) FLAC files plays , but constantly breaks off for short intervals
(NAS CPU usage 99%)

Error log only:
0893: Error writing mp3 output
0892: LAME: Can't get "TERM" environment string.

But not this error (which is only seen when streaming via SM):
Slim::Web::JSONRPC::requestMethod (383) request not dispatchable!

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Activate AutoDim via cli/bash

2009-08-25 Thread Blu3IcE

Hi,

I'm trying to activate the autodim display plugin via CLI.
In other words I want to to trigger the dim time earlier as set in the
options.

The idear is to send the command while I shutdown my pc in the
evening.
Some bash script will do the trick ...of course with some preconditions
depending on the current time.

It tried some things with the CLI but did'nt succeed.
As I understood I have to send the MAC address followed by pluginname
and other commands. But I don't think there is a CLI programmed for
autodim.

Is there an other way?

Thanks in advance!

IR Blaster plugin does this and has a learning function. Not sure if
the code produced is in the same format as this plugin but should be
usable. You'd need a SB Classic to use this. You won't need an actual
IR blaster.

I would love an app similar to this to output arbitrary IR commands so
I can use my SqueezeCentre/menu on SB3 to other devices near my hi-fi.
Such as TV etc.

Also to respond to other inputs i.e. if I fire my TV power button
switch of the SB and change the hifi input over to TV sound.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SqueezeIR - A Generic Infra-Red Remote Control Applet for the Duet's SBC

2009-08-25 Thread Pokersut

Me again - I'm having trouble assigning IR commands to buttons.

Here is what I have:

Code:

#LOC ; TYPE ; TITLE ; POPUP_PRESS ; POPUP_HOLD ; DATA_PRESS ; DATA_HOLD
  ROOT ; KEY ; KEY_PLAY ; ON ; ; DENON:135:124:37DENON:135:124:155
;
  ROOT ; KEY ; KEY_STOP ; ; OFF ; ; -DENON:135:124:200

I want it to turn on my NAD and switch to AUX when I press the Play
button and turn off the NAD when I press KEY_REW and KEY_FWD together -
but nothing happens.

Am I missing something obvious?

I see.

Cool plugin - thanks! Only wish you could set the time to less that 15
minutes, though.

Cheers

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC Local Radio Listen Again

2009-08-25 Thread bpa

Not sure why AlienBBC has no Local Radio Listen again - I don't know if
it was lost at some stage or was never implemented.

However BBCiPlayer 0.9beta10 (
http://triodeplugins.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/testrepo.xml ) has Local
radio Listen Again which works for non-UK listeners as well.

AlienBBC is still neeed for live Local Radio but BBC plan to offer
those stations in AAC. Except for Local Live Radio - BBCiPLayer (albeit
in beta) should be the Plugin of choice for Listening to BBC for both
UK and NON-UK users.

Oops no :) I'm using SQL as my script is not written as a plugin.
Everything is done with SQL statements and get statements to fetch xml
from the Last.fm website.

Is there a place I can look at the source for your plugins to learn a
few lessons on this? I suppose I should be switching to the "Schema"
but maybe I'd just fix what I have now first.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC Local Radio Listen Again

2009-08-25 Thread norderney

I see that on both BBC Alien and BBC iPlayer options, on the
SqueezeCentre Home Page, there is no Listen Again options for BBC Local
Radio.

You can Listen Again to various BBC Local Radio programmes by going to
the relevant BBC Local radio web site.

Is this a fault or is this how it is supposed to be?
