Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TitleSwitcher and MusicInfoScreen on squeezeboxserver 7.4

2009-10-23 Thread Michael Herger
Second, the string that is incorrectly displayed is not the contents of
the TITLE tag. I tested now several different internet radio stations
and in addition Deezer. It seems that instead of COMPOSER the name of
the last menu item is displayed that was shown when I pressed PLAY. For
example, when I browse to Internet Radio - Our Recommendations - Most
popular - radioioJazz and then press PLAY the display switches between
e.g. My Way (Frank Sinatra) and My Way (radioioJazz).

Could you try with only MIS (without the switcher plugin) in order to make sure
whether it's a MIS only bug, or only when both are being used?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Softsqueeze 3.9 beta for testing

2009-10-23 Thread bpa

I can't test Sirius but in early 2009 there is a very long thread about
testing Softsqueeze and SC 7.3.x. I believe the changes in SC 7.3.x
(which also affected Suqeezenetwork) for services such as Sirous and
Pandora meant that Softsqueeze could no longer access these services
directly.

How to setup SC to enable Softsqueeze to play Sirius was described in
post #4 of this thread.

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=59126

I think the proxied setting would still work for SBS but as I said at
the top - I cannot test Sirius.

I can't say that I'm seeing this. On my mac mini running snow leopard,
with today's SBS 7.4.1, that label and the command with either escaped

Yes, that was my problem. I don't tend to use nightlies, so I installed
one nightly and haven't tried a later version. I wonder if that's the
issue. I am currently using 7.4.1r28913.

One final question: is your script 'caffeine on' with '2' as an
argument, or is it 'cafffeine on 2'?

2 was part of the name. But, as mentioned in another post, changing the
name to aoid any spaces, and including a .sh extension, did not help.

2009-10-23 Thread malcolm4

Hi,

I have enjoyed Lazy Search - use it all the time - but it has not
worked since I upgraded a few days ago to Squeezebox Server 7.4.0.

In Squeezebox Server's plugins tab, Lazy Search Music 3.5.3 shows
up on my list of Active Plugins , but it does not appear on the
Squeezebox itself.

1. Do I need to do something else to get it to work?
2. Is version 3.5.3 incompatible with Squeezebox Server 7.4.0? (if so
I will wait for a revision... :-)

Thanks,

gharris999;476272 Wrote:
If wanting to push players at TinySC becomes a popular pursuit, perhaps
I can add an option in the settings to specify an alternate server.

But for now, you'll be able to do exactly what you want using cli
commands in scripts called by SrvrPowerCtrl on user initiated or idle
events. SrvrPowerCtrl now includes a feature whereby a custom script
can be called on an 'external' shutdown event...i.e. if the server goes
down for any reason (power button, external script, etc) other than a
SrvrPowerCtrl action. So you could still count on your players getting
pushed to TinySC no matter what brings the master server down.

That all sounds great, thanks!

Using SrvrPowerCtrl on TinySC will present a bit more of a challenge.

I think I wouldn't need to do that in my scenario, though. TinySC
should always be running (and why not, considering SB Touch uses less
electricity than an SB Classic), happily serving clients when
SrvrPowerCtrl sends them to TinySC, and willingly relinquishing them
when FatSC starts up and SrvrPowerCtrl pulls them back to the main
server, right? The FatSC SrvrPowerCtrl install could handle both
pre-shutdown pushes and post-startup pulls, right? I think the only
extra logic I'd want on TinySC is something to handle waking up the
FatSC server at appropriate times. Maybe that's every time someone turns
a player on, or maybe that requires a more deliberate action.

It's that last aspect that I was thinking of. Presumably, you could
install SrvrPowerCtrl on TinySC and disable almost all of it's features
and menu items, leaving one custom menu item pointing at your
'wake-master' script. Just a (relatively) painless way to be able to
execute that script from the Touch's menu. Really, what's required here
is either a rewrite of KDF's execute script plugin for the Touch, or a
severely cut-down version of SrvrPowerCtrl that dispenses with all the
power-saving stuff, or a WOL Lua app for the Touch. Perhaps that last
would be the best bet: no mucking around with ssh-ing into the
Touch...just include an settings interface in the app to save
descriptive labels and mac addresses.

On FatSC, if the master is coming back from suspend or hibernation,
SrvrPowerCtrl can automatically execute a custom script on wake-up which
could yank your players back. However, it currently doesn't do this on
an initial boot-up.

If I add the 'alternate msb ip address' feature, then the yank-back
could happen in all instances.

I think I'll go ahead and the user-settable alternate server setting
now. I'll have to change a fair amount of code, strings and the
settings page to support this, but it's entirely doable.

Then I tried the WLAN. It finds the server (Connected=1). I press

Where did I loose out in the instructions? My Squeezebox Server resides

denis55 - Your mplayer problem sounds a bit like mine. When I updated

to download (7.4.1). After updating this mplayer installed successfully
and the test worked normally.

However Listen Again doesn't work! None of the URLs have anything in
them. Nothing plays. The Live streams work. I still have BBC Local

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-23 Thread danco

It was my misunderstanding. Sure enough, the label shows up and the
command can be executed, when I use my player and select SvrPowerCtl
from the Extras menu. I haven't tried the others, but I'm sure they are
ok.

But I was expecting something more that does not seem to occur, and
that would be useful.

When I go to the Settings page for SvrPowerCtl then in a number of
places (Idle Player Monitor, End of Day, and others) there is a pop-up
list of actions that can be chosen. This seems to be hard-coded at
present, and it would be good if any custom commands were available in
this list to be chosen.

Ah. I see. I thought about that when I started adding the custom cmd
stuff. My initial thought was that this wasn't needed. Any of the
'pre-defined' actions (shutdown, suspend, etc.) are potentially custom
commands since the command to be executed is up to the user. Only the
label is fixed. And, as long as the user hasn't entered both a label
and a command in any given custom command pair, the corresponding custom
'action' doesn't exist. So, while I could add 'Custom Command 1',
'Custom Command 2', etc. to the drop-down list of actions, the
corresponding action may not exist and an error condition will result at
run-time.

On the other hand, this is easy enough to try. As a test, which drop
down on the setting page would you like to see include the custom
actions?

Where did I loose out in the instructions? My Squeezebox Server resides

OK, have been poking around for a while more now and YES, I got it to
work. I guess I got confused when the first Player that appeared was my
Squeezebox unit. After a while another Player popped up. with my iPhone

start playing on my home stereo just like iPeng will do. After that the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] A new AlienBBC 2.6b1 beta for testing.

The BBC change is significant and not a small HTML change. They have
removed the non Flash access to the RealAudio URLs.

To fix this means adding some of the BBCiPlayer code and it is not
clear whether it is worth the effort since RealAudio will be gone 5
months especially since the Alternate Listen Again still works to play
RealAudio version of streams.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] CustomBrowse: show track artist in album track list

2009-10-23 Thread MrRalph

I'm very pleased with CustomBrowse (using with IPeng). The only thing I
'miss' is showing the track artist in the list of an album's tracks.
Example:

Filtered Artists
1. 1st screen shows my music's artists incl Various Artists
I click on a artist or on Various Artists

2. The CD's for that artist are shown: title and below that the album
artist (for no compilations)
I select a CD from the list

3. It then shows all the tracks on that selected CD (just the title).
Because you can also select compilation albums, and some CD's have more
than one track artist, I would like to see the track artist below the
displayed track title. Selecting a CD 'Top 100 hits' now just displayes
all track titles, without displaying the track artists...

I guess this can be configured in the menu XML, but I was not able to
make something that works. Any help here is much appreciated!

Thanks, Ralph

For me, Action to Take after Idle Time in the Idle Player Monitor is the
one I would use.

I would have expected that it would not be too difficult to trap the
behaviour so that no action was taken if an item was selected with no
corresponding script (or perhaps that /bin/true was selected if there
was no user-defined script). Even nicer if the label was used instead of
Custom Command 1 when a custom command has been defined.

What's the definition of idle?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

I think 500Mhz processor might be borderline to decode AAC and re-encode
into Flac particularly if the processor does not have floating point
support.

Try playing this 128k AAC stream - radio Paradise
http://www.radioparadise.com/musiclinks/rp_128aac-2.m3u

If I disable aac filetype then will my ITunes library play ok?

Not sure what this has to do with BBC feeds - the AAC filetype is NOT
the setting to change when dealing with BBC.

It is generally not a good idea to disable a filetype. I'm not sure
even what you mean by disable AAC filetypes - there are usually 4
settings WAV, PCM, MP3 and native - which ones are you disabling ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC vs BBCiPlayer plugins

2009-10-23 Thread IanCHC

Hello

I am having a problem with listen again - live works fine. I also had
the same issue with several 7.41 interim builds - the last time it
worked was with the 7.4 [but that once suffered form the multiple
instances problem].

I see all the program listings and can choose a progam - but nothing
other than the program name banner ever appears.

The slim server web page claims that it is playing to the device for a
while - it counts time happily but no sound.

I have a readyNAS Nv as the server.

During the upgrade I used the cleandb, removed all old versions,
applied, clenadb again etc.

Previously I enabled ssh and used a set of instructions posted
elsewhere in this forum to clean up all the squeeze stuff from 7.4

Any thoughts or things I should check?

Thank you

I think I can work most of these problems out. I can't really see a
way to make it fool-proof. Some fool is going to manage to select a
non-existent custom command for an 'action to take'. The only ill
effects will be confusion on the user's part and error messages in the
log.

Anyway, look for a version tomorrow that attempts to implement this.

'idle' == no players playing, no players updating firmware, no library
scanning occurring, no discretionary 'blocks' set. 'idle-timeout' ==
however many minutes the user has set that need to pass with none of
those activities being detected. Again, the detection process only
happens once per minute, so very sort duration activities might get
missed.

Great!

For TinySC, I think what would work best for me is a combination of a
1) plugin that would offer the Wake Up menu (so it would be available
on the TinySC Touch, the Controllers, and all our IP3K players and 2) a
UI-free Lua applet that subscribes to notifications from the plugin and
sends the WOL packets. Anyone with multiple SqueezePlay devices would
then have all their SP gear sending WOL packets, which should help wake
the server reliably even on networks with bridges and weird
segmentation. I really need to learn xmlbrowse menuing, as that seems
like the best way to present menus on all SB interfaces.

Yes, that's helpful. Thanks.

Notice the very last line of the log:
[09-10-24 01:35:37.4533] Plugins::SrvrPowerCtrl::Util::SystemExecCmd

That means that SCPowerTool.exe is failing to do it's job and is
exiting with an error code, for some reason. So, I think the problem
apparently is with SCPowerTool.exe, not with SrvrPowerCtrl.

Can you post the C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All

Yes, I'm not sure either. There haven't been any new versions of
SCPowerTool.exe for months. The only change that I made is that I
packaged up the three windows utilites (SCPowerTool.exe,
StartHidden.exe, SCCLITool.exe) yesterday in an installer exe that, by
default, installs those three to the C:\Windows\System32 directory.

Try creating the C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All

Let's see if that's part of the problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-23 Thread Roger66

Is SCCLITool.exe necessary ?

I never installed it because as far as I understood it wasn't necessary
for the plugin. It's a bit difficult for me to understand what to do
with all the files without a all-in-one readme.txt.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2009-10-23 Thread gharris999

Actually, it's none of the above. The problem is with the new code I'm
using from Peter Watkins. It's treating the windows '\' path elements
as escape characters. This is why this has been working for me (linux
server) and not for you (windows xp). So, this is a bug. You'd need to
not only wrap any path elements that include spaces in double
quotes...you'd need to put two backslashes in for every one...e.g.
c:\\windows\\system32\\cmd.exe, etc.

Take a look at the new windows help file. You can get to it by
clicking on the link to it at the top of the SrvrPowerCtrl settings
page. Tell me if you think it does a good enough job of explaining what
SCPowerTool.exe is for.

But to answer your question: yes, on windows, SCPowerTool.exe is very
necessary. It's what does the actual 'work' of shutting
down/suspending/etc the system and it's what does the 'work' of waking
it up again for alarms. There are alternate utilities you could use:
psshutdown.exe and wosb.exe. But SrvrPowerCtrl itself doesn't do the
suspending. It calls an external utility to do the suspending. That's
what makes it possible for the same verion of SrvrPowerCtrl to work with
windows, linux, mac osx, etc.

Re xmlbrowse: I hear you. I've been procrastinating with learning
that.

I have some questions for you regarding parseFields() from KidsPlay.
Are you willing to entertain them here?

Roger66;476731 Wrote:

SCCLITool.exe is a helper application. You are right, it's not
strictly necessary for SrvrPowerCtrl. It's job is to make it easy for
windows users to issue CLI requests to Squeezebox Server via batch
files. Other operating systems (linux, osx) include the nc 'netcat'
utility which fills this purpose. SCCLITool.exe was my attempt to level
the playing field for windows users.

So, for instance, if you wanted to disable SrvrPowerCtrl between the
hours of 10:00 and 14:00, you could write two simple batch files that
use SCCLITool.exe to set and clear SrvrPowerCtrl blocks. You could then
use the built-in windows command scheduler so that those batch files got
automatically executed at the appropriate times. SCCLITool.exe is useful
enough that I think it's worth including in the collection, even if not
everyone uses it.

Thank you. As far as I understood, you identified the problem at the
moment. It's very late for me (3:15 am in germany), I have to go to bed
now.

I will return tomorrow to see what's going on with your plugin.
Good luck !

erland, slightly random question here - loving the custom clock

Is there any way I could change the colour of the moon and the text

 'will understand' (http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/index.asp) and it
would be a great way to repay my long suffering hubbie for all the
[breaking] testing our music system I've done recently.

Happy to tweak code if you can point me in the right direction (but
know nothing about how the applets work).

Install the Custom Clock Helper in your Squeezebox Server and you will
be able to select any background you want. The text colors are limited
so you can select among a number of read and white/gray/black tones at
the moment, but I'll be happy to add more variants if you like.

There are more information about making your own clock style here:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Custom_Clock_applet#Customization

If you make a new style which other might be interested in, make sure
to post it in this forum section so we can add it as one of the bundled
styles.
