Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Quick Q about mac adresses and mysqueezebox.com I discovered that i had two iPads registered and tried to tell them apart they had two diffrent mac adresses none of them the actual mac of my iPad I had to conect the iPeng player to my LMS server and have a llok at the info page there i've found a mac that corresponds to my current iPad . Does the iPeng player makes it own adress it does not seem to have anything in common with the actual mac of my device ? ( I also have two iPhones there , I only ever had one iPhone ? ) Thats ok I can switch for example my boom to mysqueezebox.com and control it via iPeng everything works as expected . Now what I cant do is to switch the actual iPeng player to mysqueezebox.com ! The iPad never gets connected to mysqueezebox.com , even if it is registered and can be used as a controller . iPeng says "your player cant be found" and LMS web-UI cant see it either , normally you can pull back players from mysqueezebox.com with the web-UI . So in short iPeng works as a controller on mysqueezebox.com but not as a player ? Did I miss something ? I noticed that Smartmix can only use WIMP as source if you use the official app and plugin . [SlimDevices: Plugins] HLS for dummies
Hi I have been struggling with the various threads on HLS. I live outside the UK. I have LMS running on Windows 7 and my players are Touch, Classic and Duo. All of my BBC iPlayer streaming has broken in common with everybody else. The generic BBC player does work with MP3 streams but I get constant drop outs (very irritating any increasing buffering does not resolve it). I followed one of the threads and installed the third party LMA repository courtesy of BPA also also installed ffmpeg.exe which came from here - http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/. Please see attached screenshots of the settings in Plugins and Advanced File Settings. The bottom line is nothing working for me apart from the patchy basic BBC app. It seems that there might be issues with the version of ffmpeg. If so can somebody point at a reliable destination url please rather than indicating it is available from a particular website or page as there appears there can be several options on the sites that do have ffmpeg downloads available. Not loving the Beeb at the minute in common with many.:( +---+ |Filename: Plug ins PlayHLS Plug in.PNG | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=17460| +---+ JPatten's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9215 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103193 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm sure others with more expertise will reply, but in the meantime: Can you double check the location of the files you have downloaded, etc? (The mp3 option is probably greyed out on your screen-shot because you don't have Lame installed, otherwise that looks OK to me.) This is an outline of what is needed and what works on my Windows 7 64 bit system: - Install Triode's BBC iPlayer LMS plugin, and leave its settings at the default: "Live Stream Preference" set to "AAC > FlashAAC > FlashMP3 > WMA" "Allow Transcoding" set to "Enable" (Triode's plugin isn't strictly necessary to play the HLS streams but is sure makes life much easier) - Download the STATIC build of ffmpeg from the source you used and copy "ffmpeg.exe" over to the right folder, which on my Windows 7 64 bit is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Squeezebox\server\bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread\ The folder should also contain faad.exe, flac.exe. sox.exe so on a 32 bit system you can search for those to find the right folder. - Install bpa's plugin, which you have done. - Download bonze's replacement menu for Triode's BBC iPlayer plugin from: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?53229-Announce-BBCiPlayer-Plugin-%28UK-only%29&p=807276#post807276 As you are outside the UK, download the "menu_nonuk.zip" Unzip the file to get the "menu.opml" file Find where the existing menu.opml file is, on my W7 64 bit it is in: C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\BBCiPlayer\ Rename the existing "menu.opml" to "menu.oplm.orig" in case you want to revert to it. Copy the replacement "menu.opml" over. Restart LMS You can also reboot, but this shouldn't be necessary. Since iOS 7 Apple doesn't allow you to use the MAC anymore, it returns the same MAC address on each device (02:00:00:00:00), if you try. The also explicitly prohibit to track a device based on any other hardware ID you might find. Therefore, iPeng creates it's own MAC based on the vendor ID (the only ID Apple allows you to use). This ID gets re-generated when you delete all Apps from one vendor (here: me) from the device, that's why uninstalling and re-installing iPeng is now such a bad idea. What it means is you need to re-register on MySB, you will then have _another_ device on MySB and if you don't use playback you can't even remove the old one. > > Now what I cant do is to switch the actual iPeng player to > mysqueezebox.com ! MySB sends the menu for each of your controllers (in this case iPeng) and sometimes it can take ages (up to hours or even days) and several server restarts until a new service shows up. It's a MySB oder LMS-MySB interaction bug. Might be related to the sheer number of devices on your account. The amount of data downloaded from MySB if you have a lot of them can be huge and you can't remove controller-only devices from MySB. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] HLS for dummies
32bit vs 64bit You can find whether your Windows 7 PC is 32 bit or 64 bit by: Click on the "Start" button Right click on "Computer" and select "Properties" from the options displayed Under the heading "System" you will see "System type" which will tell you whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. If you have a 32 bit operating system you MUST use the 32 bit version of ffmpeg. If you have a 64 bit operating system you can use either the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of ffmpeg. (Although my operating system is 64 bit, I am using the 32 bit version of ffmpeg.) Apart from that the only difference in the procedure is that some of the windows folder names will (I think) be slightly different in the two operating systems. I don't know anything about the SMARTDNS service (Unlocator) but if this enables you to "fool" the streaming system into thinking you are in the UK then you can use the uk version of bonze's replacement BBC iPlayer menu (the meno.opml file). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Weird about the hardware-ID it's is the point with it isnt it :) I just have to look in my router and it tells the mac of the wifi interface for the iPad and so does the iPad itself in some obscure setting . But if you cant use it , you cant do much . The dual iPads is because i actually switched iPads , no big deal just a bit of fuzz to find out which one to delete . Dual iPhones is probably due to a botched upgrade with subsequent reinstall from iCloud . Oh there also was a SqueezePad device , he probably also has to invent some id to use too and not crash with you . As long as you mac-id generation/spoofing does generate truly unique id I'm happy and know I know why too . It only affects WiFi networks where you don't have to log in (or log in only after the connection to the network). Your home network will know the MAC. The problem is that some companies, such as Starbucks started to track iPhone users even if they just passed by their stores, just from the initial communication with the device (even before connecting to the network) and so creating movement profiles of users and such. Apple doesn't want people to create movement profiles of their users (they only want iAd to be able to do that but in fairness you can opt out of that and delete your ID whenever you want purging everything that has been collected until then, a control you don't have over third parties not even telling you that you are being tracked). In LMS it should not be a problem, iPeng tells you the MAC you are using and you also have the device name. Unless you keep uninstalling and re-installing iPeng it's not a problem.

Ah, white cats are so 1960s :) But seriously: if you try to generate unique IDs you want to stay away from your available value range by at least an order of magnitude, better two. I've been playing about a bit with my own decoder (at the moment a bit of stand-alone 'C' code to replace ffmpeg as a 'transcoding helper' to extract and demux the aac stream which works for both the Listen Live and the Listen Again streams). The listen again streams have a bit of obfuscation in the route to their url's which ffmpeg can't handle. [SlimDevices: Plugins] VLC as a transcoder
Hi, Has anyone been able to use vlc as a transcoder for a plugin? I've been trying to use it to support MPEG-DASH in a proof of concept plugin (trying to get ahead of the Beeb) but I can't get it to work. First of all, I think VLC 3 is required, which I have installed on my Mac (this makes it a bit more difficult as there isn't a simple vlc binary in /usr/bin etc) What I have a is a simple script in my plugin/Bin directory: Code: #!/bin/sh /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC which is executable, then in my custom-convert.conf I have: Code: dash flc * * # RB:{BITRATE=-B %B}T:{START=-ss %s} [playdash.sh] $FILE$ -I dummy -q --no-sout-video --sout '#transcode{acodec=flac,channels=2,ab=128,samplerate=44100}:standard{access=file,mux=dummy,dst=-}' vlc://quit - (Which I'm sure bpa will realise has been based heavily/copied from the excellent playHLS plugin - i tried the playhls.sh but that didn't work either when changing the app path so I've tried to simplify it a lot) I have the transcoding option enabled under file types so that's all good, but nothing happens when I try and play a DASH stream. I have validated the DASH stream works with the command line: Code: /Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/VLC -I dummy -q --no-sout-video --sout '#transcode{acodec=flac,channels=2,ab=128,samplerate=44100}:standard{access=file,mux=dummy,dst=-}' vlc://quit - In that it dumps a lot of binary output to the console so I think it's more my plugin set up that isn't working. odw199's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103197 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I haven't looked at the Listen Again stuff. Not sure how useful this is, but Linux::DVB on CPAN does TS demuxing pretty well - been using it for eight years quite happily in a DVB-T -> Shoutcast server (DVBServer) , originally written by Graham Chapman, to reach the BBC Radio channels via a USB DVB-T stick. Not as high quality as the HLS streams (128K MP2) but a useful fall back for whenever the BBC stuff their live streams. Obviously not the whole solution for HLS or DASH, but may save a bit of code? florca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7486 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Now maybe it's something lost in translation but for me 'on the go' either implies listening offline (which you can't) or using a mobile device such as an iPod (which they now say you can't). Or maybe those clever French at Qobuz have got a very long mains and ethernet cable that allows them to carry their desktop while driving down the autoroute. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)
Hi Flysurfer, Thanks and congratulations on developing and offering a great tool to enjoy music (and more). I am a longtime Squeezebox user (Transporter, Duets, Squeezebox Touch) running from LMS on a Vortexbox NAS. I recently discovered Odroid and Max2Play. Since I am putting together an easy to use, always on system for a non-technically oriented friend, I acquired both a C1 and the U3. The Max2Play image works perfectly on the C1 for LMS. The install was easy and there were no issues. However, there is a little latency with the C1 (a slight delay from tapping an action on iPeng and actually having it happen). I think that the U3 would solve the latency issue (which is minor). Unfortunately, I have had several issues with getting LMS to function well on my U3 box. First, I am unable to create a playlist using the LMS web interface. If I select a tune or album in the left column and attempt to select the "add to end" option, nothing happens. The selection buttons do not operate. I can play an individual track or album but not add it to create a new playlist. If I return to the web interface later, the tune that I originally selected does appear on the right side but multiple times. When I attempt to save the list of duplicates as a test playlist, it does not show up in the LMS playlists section after scanning for changed media. Occasionally, the U3 disappears from my network. None of this happens with the C1 installation, which is rock solid. I use the same USB external media drive for both. I have burned the U3 image to an eMMC and micro SD with the same result. I have tried various versions of LMS. Do you think I have a defective U3? I live in the US so I did not purchase it from Max2Play. Any help would be appreciated. I can appreciate many will find the sheer volume of posts on this subject somewhat daunting. Briefly, you need to install a new plugin called PlayHLS, a reasonably recent version of a program called ffmpeg (which, depending on your platform you may already have), and then a new menu for the iPlayer plugin. Most of what you need should be in the first dozen or so posts at http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103158-Announce-PlayHLS-Plugin-plugin-to-play-Apple-HLS-m3u8-stream. I you get into difficulty, posts on this thread, or the HLS one, should get a response. You'll need to say what operating system you are using. I transcoded a flac file to an AAC DASH format (multiple files all served by an apache web server, generated the .mpd file). This was all done using the gpac tools, MP4Box to create the DASH files. I've tested playback from the URL with MP4Client and it works flawlessly, it's just MP4Client outputs direct to speakers so (as far as I know)you can't chain it into squeezebox without doing some sound flower type munging (which won't work as the mac I'm using plays other media content locally through the sound output devices). 3. On a mac you just get the VLC.app as the mac application. A mac application is actually a folder containing all the bits needed (resources, data etc). This includes the actual executable binary, of which there sonly VLC, hence my command line. I read that cvlc was a wrapper to VLC -I rc and as I'm using the dummy interface, (-I dummy) i thought this should work. Running it with -I dummy does not launch a GUI so I think this part is OK. 4. I didn't know about xplay, I'll check it out, thanks. odw199's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103197 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
