In the Android webview wrapper, if I go to "Server Settings" 37734 and then open the dropdown menu, the text size on the menu is huge, compared with that on the main UI. 37735 It's also not themed the same ie, it's black on white, rather than white on black but that's less of a UX issue for me; I'd just like much more compact menu text. You just need to add "flac" (without the "" marks) under Disabled Audio File Extensions (Deaktivierte Audiodateierweiterungen), at the top of the Settings>Advanced>File Types page. You don't need to set the FLAC decoders to deactivated, as those settings won't be used, since LMS won't index the FLAC files once you've disabled that extension and therefore won't need to decode any. Additional Browse Modes Library Views Not filtering 'Music' & 'Audiobooks'
I have enabled "Create an Audiobooks library view..." in the 'Additional Browse Modes' plugin, with the appropriate tags entered in my audio files. As expected, I get a 'views' menu on the 'My Music' line: - All - All Music without Audiobooks - Audiobooks And the Audiobooks, Authors, Album, Artists, etc, categories all work as expected (ie, they only contain what they should). Yay! However, if I select the "All Music without Audiobooks" view, there are still audiobooks listed in the "New Artists" and "New Music" categories. And if I select the "Audiobooks" view, the "New Artists" category contains both authors and music artists. Any/all suggestions for what might be amiss greatly appreciated. Thanks. Just wondered > if anybody has experience? The server just does that -- it 'serves' the file to the player. There may be differences in functionality (UI, etc), but so long as the server provides the bits efficiently, as far as native formats go, there will be no difference in sound quality. And even with server-transcoded formats, unless there's something woefully lacking in the code, I doubt most people would detect a difference. There *may* be differences due to how the bits get from the server to the player -- WiFi, wired, USB, BT, etc -- due to factors like electrical-noise interference. That said, you'll find enough contradictory opinions out there about which medium is better/best to suggest there's not really much underlying difference. The player -- the DAC -- the thing that turns bits into analog signal -- is what counts. At the risk of a crude analogy, it's like editing a document file that's stored on a file server. It doesn't matter what OS the file server is running on, it's the word processor (player) you use to edit (play) the document (audio file) that will make any difference that matters. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin
Scenario - I've reopened LMS (with Material Skin) after having listened to one episode of a series on BBC Sounds so I see what's in this screenshot. 36183 I now want to listen to the next episode, but clicking on the "Next Track" button merely restarts the current episode (I'm using LMS with Material Skin on a laptop) and the "More" menu for the episode doesn't contain any links that go there. 36185 So, my question is is there any quick/simple way of now getting from the individual episode to the series 'homepage' i.e. 36184 and/or direct to its "All Episodes" page? The only way I seem to be able to do so is go to my main "Music Sources" home page, and then go down through the "BBC Sounds" menus, which seems a bit of a roundabout route. In the BBC Sounds app, for comparison's sake, I could just click on "Next Track", or else on the series name and then "See more episodes". Not sure about iPlayer vs Sounds (I stopped using iPlayer a while ago), but I do find that the volume level can vary quite markedly between different programmes in Sounds. In some cases it may be a "perceived volume" issue (eg, different dynamic ranges between music and speech programmes), but I think some programmes (esp. some podcasts) are produced at a higher volume. You can then manually edit the URL to get the desired waveform, signal frequency, sampling rate, bit depth and volume. Duet x 3, via various hi-fi. LMS on Raspberry Pi OS (Debian 10) on a Pi4. Hi all I've installed triode's "Signal Generator Plugin". It's listed as being installed on Server Settings > Plugins, but doesn't have any options. 34163 I'm assuming it should have its own page somewhere in the LMS interface on which you can 'start' it and set the test tone frequency but I just cannot find it. I don't understand how having to open the top-level menu, click on "Information", and then click on "Server Settings" or scroll down and click on "Player Settings" can be quicker than if both "Settings" were still just listed in the top-level menu i.e. it's now 3 clicks compared with just 2 clicks in the "old approach". Is there really a case for adding another "settings" option that doesn't fundamentally change what already happens i.e. If the player volume is fixed, altering the setting only has an effect if, as in gnackwatschn's set up, there's a plugin that recognizes volume changes and which passes them on to some hardware. In all other cases, altering the volume setting is just ignored. Actually, it could be incorporated in the current player "Volume Control" option with a change of wording to the existing options eg, - "Player output fixed at 100%, but control changes passed through" (or whatever wording makes best sense to users) - "Volume control adjusts player output directly" Duet x 3, via various hi-fi. And yet it's still happening for me. :-( Indeed, it happened just now, which is what prompted me to check for a reply (for which, thanks). Fwiw, it only seems to happen in Material Skin in a Chrome browser, running on Win 8.1. (I also use the Material 'wrapper' on Android, but I don't -think- it's ever happened on that.) It had occurred to me that I might be accidentally clicking on the Shuffle icon but I never accidentally activate 'Repeat', 'Transfer Queue', 'Add URL to Queue", etc, so I'm as sure as I can be that it's happening without my doing anything, accidentally or otherwise. Is there likely to be anything relevant in the log entries for Material Skin? (I've set it to Debug, but thought I'd ask in case I'm wasting my time looking.) Thanks. Duet x 3, via various hi-fi. Hi all Firstly, just to say I love Material Skin thanks cpd73! I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing inadvertently, or if it's something that's happening when MS gets updated, but I'm finding that, every-so-often, Shuffle gets set "on". Is it a known issue? It behaves a bit differently in the default skin -- eg, it goes through this sequence for "Skip forwards 1 mins", so you get to click on "Skip forwards..." twice before you end up at a page without a link. 31177 Also, in the Default interface you can do a "back" in your browser (I'm doing all this on a laptop, not a smartphone or similar) and it will take you straight back to the page(s) with Skip links , so you don't have to go through the faff of opening the "More" menu, etc. cpd73 wrote: > That said, you can press-and-hold on Material's prev/next buttons to > skip by a configurable amount. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
Firstly, I really like Material Skin :-) Now, my "problem"... I often listen to live streamed radio, but want to listen from the start of the program. That's easy, because of the "Skip back to start of program" option. However, I often then want to skip around in the stream eg, to skip past news on the hour/half-hour, or go back and listen to something over again. That takes us to the "Skip Forward 1 mins" and "Skip Backward 5 mins"options on the "More info" page for the stream. 31175 They're fine if you just want to skip forwards or backwards that exact amount of time. The problem starts when you want to skip forwards or backwards more than 1 or 5 minutes, because when you click on either them of them, the "More info" page closes, and you're back at the home page of LMS, so you've got to open the three dots menu of the stream and click "More" again, then click on the required "Skip..." option again. If you want to skip forwards, say, 10 minutes, it's obviously a pain. 31176 So, my question is: could the "More info" page for a stream be made "persistent", so that it doesn't close when you click on a Skip option. And/or, could the Skip options be added to, say, the stream "More" menu? Thanks. +---+ |Filename: more.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=31176| +---+ Duet x 3, via various hi-fi. LMS on Raspbian 9 (stretch) on a Pi3B+. This is the log from when I start to play a live stream of 6Music (which doesn't actually play): [19-08-17 14:16:04.1689] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (579) Starting BBConair [19-08-17 14:16:04.1801] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (596) Reset paused time to zero - invalid estimated delay 1566047764 streamtime= [19-08-17 14:16:04.1817] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (692) No Info - Returning title=BBC Radio 6 Music plugin track= artist= album= [19-08-17 14:16:04.1859] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (596) Reset paused time to zero - invalid estimated delay 1566047764 streamtime= [19-08-17 14:16:04.1875] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (692) No Info - Returning title=BBC Radio 6 Music plugin track= artist= album= [19-08-17 14:16:04.1930] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::scanUrl (74) iplayer://live?hls=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_6music.m3u8=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd=http://radio-service-information.api.bbci.co.uk/logos/bbc_6music/600x600.png=dab/ce1/ce15/c22b/0=bbc_6music [19-08-17 14:16:04.1960] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::scanUrl (91) baseUrl: iplayer://live?hls=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_6music.m3u8=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd=http://radio-service-information.api.bbci.co.uk/logos/bbc_6music/600x600.png=dab/ce1/ce15/c22b/0=bbc_6music type: live prefOrder:dash,hls,mp3,flashaac [19-08-17 14:16:04.1978] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::scanUrl (127) placeholder: iplayer://live?dash=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd=dash [19-08-17 14:16:04.1995] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::scanUrl (127) placeholder: iplayer://live?hls=http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/hls/uk/sbr_high/ak/bbc_6music.m3u8=hls [19-08-17 14:16:04.2039] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getNextTrack (178) scanning: live: dash http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd for dash [19-08-17 14:16:04.2060] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::__ANON__ (194) scanned: dash://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd| [19-08-17 14:16:04.2074] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::__ANON__ (203) found: dash://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd| bitrate: 32 [19-08-17 14:16:04.2085] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::__ANON__ (217) adding 1 tracks at placeholder, 0 at end of playlist [19-08-17 14:16:04.2113] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::canSeek (822) DASH can seek called [19-08-17 14:16:04.2145] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::new (97) New DASH stream - Jump to time - seek offset = [19-08-17 14:16:04.2157] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::new (99) -- Skip back state : " live" time :0 req : streamtime: [19-08-17 14:16:04.2169] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::new (136) -- Skip back state : " live" time :0 req : streamtime: [19-08-17 14:16:04.2183] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::DASH::_fetchMPD (410) fetch playlist: http://a.files.bbci.co.uk/media/live/manifesto/audio/simulcast/dash/uk/dash_full/ak/bbc_6music.mpd start: 0, refetch= [19-08-17 14:16:04.2279] Slim::Control::Request::execute (1888) Error: While trying to run function coderef [Slim::Control::Commands::playlistJumpCommand]: [open2: fork failed: Cannot allocate memory at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Player/Pipeline.pm line 138. ] [19-08-17 14:16:04.2359] Slim::Networking::Async::DNS::__ANON__ (76) Got DNS response 104.82.74.185 for polling.bbc.co.uk (ttl 15) [19-08-17 14:16:04.2642] Slim::Networking::Async::DNS::__ANON__ (76) Got DNS response 34.243.85.66 for np.radioplayer.co.uk (ttl 40) [19-08-17 14:16:04.3314] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (596) Reset paused time to zero - invalid estimated delay 1566047764 streamtime= [19-08-17 14:16:04.3323] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (692) No Info - Returning title=BBC Radio 6 Music plugin track=Liz Kershaw artist=Donovan album= [19-08-17 14:16:04.3364] Plugins::BBCiPlayer::iPlayer::getMetadataFor (596) Reset paused time to zero - invalid estimated delay

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1536935553 Running on FreeNAS/SlimNAS v2.0.2 I'd have been playing a mixture of live streams and 'listen again' (LA) programmes. I'd also restarted LMS two or three times, having updated BBCiPlayer and experimented with different versions of menu.opml The massive delay figure doesn't always appear. I just played "Yes Minister: Series 1: The Devil You Know" again (having played various live streams and LA programmes in between) and there was no "delay" figure. The same went for various other programmes selected at random. But then I played "Delve Special: Series 3: A Rocket for Defence"* and got "25625728 mins delay". * iplayer://aod?hls=http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/vpid/b0059tss/mediaset/audio-syndication/proto/http=http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/redir/version/2.0/mediaset/audio-syndication-dash/proto/http/vpid/b0059tss=1800=http://ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic/512x288/p01lclsw.jpg=Delve%20Special%3A%20Series%203%3A%20A%20Rocket%20for%20Defence=Reporter%20David%20Lander%20investigates%20whether%20we%20really%20need%20the%20new%20'Sea%20Snake'%20torpedo. Now, when I play 'listen again' radio programmes (ie, not live streams), I get titles like "*Yes Minister: Series 1: The Devil You Know - 25625564 mins delay*" That's about 49.3 -years- :-) Plus, since it's not a live stream, there isn't a delay anyway. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas / Squeezebox / LMS problems
Just an update, for closure. After a great deal of diagnosis, it turned out to be a faulty RAM module. So, not a FreeNAS problem, certainly not a Slimnas one, and not (as it now turns out) a problem with upgrading to LMS. I reformatted my HDD (to remove any trace of anything, just in case), installed the latest stable FreeNAS I could find - 0.7.2 Sabanda (revision 8191) - then installed Slimnas 2.0.2 and LMS 7.7.0. Fingers crossed, everything is currently working. And thanks again to Michael for Slimnas - it's a great piece of software. -- SpiderJon SpiderJon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91617 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Slimnas / Squeezebox / LMS problems
I tried to update to SlimNAS 2.0.2 and LMS 7.7, but things appear to have gone horribly wrong. Even though SlimNAS 2.0.2 seemed to install fine, as did LMS 7.7 - leastways, Logitech Media Server appeared in the FreeNAS 'Extensions' menu - Squeezebox just wouldn't start up. I then tried rolling back to earlier versions of Squeezebox Server and SlimNAS, but I now can't get any combination to work. Further, FreeNAS now itself seems problematic - Explorer tends to just hang for long periods if I try to access the FreeNAS file structure - and I'm wondering if the failed updates/roll-backs are causing this. I've attached my Slimserver server log from when I tried to update to 2.0.2/7.7 and when I susquently tried to roll back to 2.0.1 and Squeezebox Server 7.6.1, then 7.6.0 and finally 2.01/7.5.5 (which is what I had when I tried to upgrade to 2.0.2/7.7). Thanks again. -- SpiderJon SpiderJon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85905 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

If that doesn't help, could you post which menu templates you used to create the menus ? Or even better, post the *.cb.values.xml files which contains the menu configuration. I've attached the 3 xml files (with txt extensions, so I could actually attach them). [SlimDevices: Plugins] Custom Browse question
I've set up three Custom Browse menus, and configured them all to Show in browse and home menu. They all appear in the 'My Music' menu on my Duet Controller - but only two appear on the Web UI (which I tend to use a lot, controlling my Squeezebox from my netbook). As they're all configured the same (as far as I can tell) there's no obviously reason why one doesn't appear on the Controller menu. The one that doesn't appear is 'Composers', if that's of any relevance. Help, please :-) -- SpiderJon SpiderJon's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21798 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85905 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
