Was able to send LMS sound just fine to my DirecTV receivers. Having 3, I can also couple 1 or more together and send sound simultaneously. The LMS display shows on the screen as well, so I see an album cover of what is playing. Nice. One day, perhaps I will get a nice TV with great sound system. Then use LMS to play music. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
I have a new ATT DirecTV Stream service in my house. It comes with nice Google integration which surprised me. One feature is to be able to cast sound from the TV to Google speakers. Interestingly, the CastBridge plugin that I have been using now for sometime with my LMS server also shows up the DirecTV boxes as a cast device. So, my questions: (1) has anyone used this to play the DirecTV sound to an LMS server ?, (2) Has anyone used this to play the LMS sound to a DirecTV ? If the answer to (1) or (2) is Yes, how does one go about linking these up ? I think it would be especially cool to be able to play TV sound though LMS. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

philippe_44 wrote: > Can you also try to run the static version and see if the same happens? > Could you also send me your config file? Philippe, I switched to the static-build version. I cannot see any cpu hang of any kind thus far. When I streamed a flac channel from radio paradise, the cpu got up to 70-80%, but then going back to acc-320K gets down to 10% or so. Even lower to 4% for lower bit rate channels. I suppose the static-build will require more memory, but that is not a problem on this machine. Wish I had thought to try that earlier. I am attaching my configuration anyway to fulfill your request. Even though the .xml file is a test file, the uploader here refuses, so I changed it to .txt file extension so it would upload. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
Just to emphasize, I have attached an image shot of the top screen output showing squeeze2cast plugin running flat out at 100% cpu on a single core of my 8-core server. I can stop it manually with the kill command, or I can disable the plugin and restart LMS to stop it. Of course, I need to re-install it and restart LMS if I go the 2nd route. Either way is a nuisance. Hope we can get this fixed together since I do really like the squeeze2cast plugin and believe it is a way to the future in keeping LMS an active software platform since cast will be with us for some time. +---+ |Filename: chromecast_hang.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32815| +---+ freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
Hellp Philippe, I am happy to report that the stereo cast feature does, indeed, work fine in the chromecast plugin. While it does not yield quite as strong a stereo separation as one might expect, but it does indeed work ! I picked a song I knew had strong separation (what is and what should never be by Led Zeppelin) and there is definitely a left and right working within a pair of identical speakers that I have set up to be a "speaker pair" in the android google home app. It works in LMS. Now that is pretty darn cool if you ask me ! The speakers I am testing are the inexpensive Next mini (gen 2). I am wondering what this would sound like with the really nice Home Max or Nest Audio. To me, this is a game changer for chromecast technology. On the run away chromecast plugin app, I have reported this before, and it persists. I would be happy to debug this and eliminate the problem. The only thing I can think of is that if I don't stop the cast before I stop LMS, perhaps it keeps running because of that. I have seen similar issues outside of LMS using a phone app that plays sound through a cast speaker. I can turn off the app on the phone, or even turn off the phone altogether, or take it completely out of the house, and the cast speakers will continue to keep playing until I uncast the speakers with the Google Home app on the phone. Perhaps it is something similar going on with this LMS plugin. The only way I can consistently get rid of it is to kill the process on my Linux server while it is running one of my cores at 100% cpu with no sound being played at all. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
I just started using the stereo feature of chrome-cast speakers (only works on identical speakers). It is very nice indeed. Is it possible to add this feature to this LMS plugin ? Also, is there a way to prevent the runaway cpu on this plugin ? I had to remove it due to this problem. I really would like to use it, but not worth constantly having to manually kill the plugin process in order to stop the runaway cpu at 100%. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hello, I am using chromecast bridge for some time now. For the most part, it works very well, and I enjoy using it. However, I routinely notice that after I use it, even if no LMS clients are running and only the server is active, the chromecast will be running full tilt at 100% cpu of one of my cores (1/8 cores of amd64 processor). I can manually kill it, but this is annoying. Is there something I need to do to prevent this, or a setting I can make ? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)
Hello. I am using latest versions of both CastBridge plugin and LMS (1.21.1 and 8.0.0~1586146269) on a Linux/Buster server. Generally, it is working great. However, I have noticed that after I play music using the plugin on cast devices, the plugin will continually cycle at 100% on a single core forever until I kill it. I am exiting incorrectly or some other user setting I can make to prevent this? The only other problem is the sync process is not synced very well and best to only play one cast device at a time. Can this be tuned ? Finally, a suggestion. Would it be possible to play left and right channels separately in a cast device. Right now I am thinking of two google mini-nests, but any equal pair combination would be ideal. Thanks for such a great plugin. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104614 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Radio Paradise Lossless Streaming (Plugin v2)
Hello, I am using the development version 8 of LMS on Debian 10. I noticed when running the RadioParadise plugin there is no option for the AAC stream. Is this unique to my setup, or no longer available? I DO have the Flac and the 192 kbps mp3 stream for each of the 4 RP channels. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108189 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Info and Song Lyrics (Erland Isaksson) plugins problem
I wandered over to here /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins and discovered that the directories for both SongLyrics and SongInfo were owned by root.root. Since all the other folders in this directory were owned by squeezeboxserver.nogroup, I chown to that from root.root. Then when I disabled and restarted, the plugins disappeared. How that ownership occurred is beyond me since I never run or change the LMS as root. Perhaps that is related to the plugin problems. Anyway, good luck and keep using LMS. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111050 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Info and Song Lyrics (Erland Isaksson) plugins problem
OK. I believe that. But, now that it is enabled on my system, how do I get rid of it? I have tried to disable it in the plugins menu/list, then restart the LMS, but it persists. It will not go away on my system. Is there a directory I can safely delete instead to get rid of it? freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111050 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] Song Info and Song Lyrics (Erland Isaksson) plugins problem
Hello. I continually get to the LMS web interface the following message at the bottom typical of any plugin update: Plugins have been updated - Restart Required (Song Info, Song Lyrics) However, after the restart, the message is always returned. If I go to the plugins page, and unclick to delete, the restart never removes them. How can I safely manually delete this plugin and either run without them, or reinstall cleanly? Thanks. P.S. Is this the best plugin for song lyrics in LMS ? freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111050 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.6.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox
I am a android and google project fi user myself. I just read where the android pie (v9) phones were going to provide an automatic vpn mode for that version and higher with project fi. my phone is too old to have v9, so I do not have that right now, but perhaps you have a vpn enabled now on your phone that may cause something to not connect over your lan. This new feature is supposed to enable vpn on ALL connections (cell, wifi, lan, etc.). Sounds good to have, but for Spotify devices, they may hide from each other? freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109705 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] trouble getting spotty 2.4.4 started
Hello Michael, thank you for you response and help. Indeed, it was a permissions problem. The plugin apparently was installing with the root.root (UID.GID), but this seems strange since I ran as regular user to install the plugin. The error message in /var/log/squeezeserver was "cannot remove directory for /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/spotty/files: Permission denied at /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Spotty/Plugin.pm line 444". I corrected the problem by issuing chown -R squeezeboxserver.nogroup /var/log/squeezeserver. Seems to work, but maybe something to understand why this was necessary? freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109463 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
[SlimDevices: Plugins] trouble getting spotty 2.4.4 started
I am going to try Spotify again. I used to run Spotty fine on earlier trials. I installed the latest v2.4.4 plugin and restarted LMS. I can see spotty on my plugin list. If I click the spotty app, it tells me to go to settings, advanced, spotty which I do. However, the LMS server just waits with a message it is waiting at the bottom of the screen. If I click the settings button on the plugin list for spotty, it also waits there too. So basically, I cannot enter my credentials for spotify to get started. All other functionality seems to work fine. I am running 7.9.1 of LMS on my debian/stretch system. All else is fine. freelsjd's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4344 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109463 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I had not set my new softsqueeze player settings so that the upper bit rate for the output was still set to no limit. I just needed to modify this setting. [SlimDevices: Plugins] realaudio bit rate too fast for AlienBBC
AlienBBC is working great in most respects. I can listen to many BBC sites as well as realaudio through this great plugin. However, I have run into a problem on some of the sites which broadcasts at higher rate than my slimserver can rebroadcast. If I listen to these station remotely to my softsqueeze through an ssh tunnel, eventually the sound becomes garbled as the server cannot keep up with the data stream.
