I left it playing overnight see what happened with a show that has segments. Screenshot from "What was that song?" shows that it worked ... in that it showed segments during the show. However, I suspect that they run their segment timer from their podcast version ... 50 minutes long ... rather than the transmission slot ... 60 minutes long. So now need to work out if I need a fudge factor and if I do then would it be consistent across other shows. Just uploaded version 0.1.9 Modified the way that programme segments are handled. However, challenge is finding live programmes with segments. Best chance is on the repeat of Press Play. My guess is that with more of their staff working from home they are struggling with the manual process to enrich their metadata. Have also seen times when KCRW News has no live programme info. If testing/using and you see something strange then check the KCRW web site and/or app to see what they are showing there as I am using what is broadly the same data. Just uploaded version 0.1.8 I rewrote some chunks of code to try to make it more generic ... (the code is sort of shared with my Radio France and Supla Finland stuff and it is messy). I have also added in KCRW News. I saw that some programmes on KCRW have "segments" - e.g. "Good Food" that was on yesterday So now I try to use the segment description in the programme synopsis. Will have to wait until Monday "Press Play with Madeleine Brand" to test it since this is not used much. When KCRW broadcasts a programme called "Eclectic 24" overnight it is a simulcast of the "Eclectic 24" station ... until last night. They used that slot for a test broadcast for their ability to broadcast live from home (Covid-19 action) ... This meant that the tracklist information was wrong. So I have now made it possible to disable that parallel lookup. However, there is a field in their json called "songlist" with http link to song data. So if that is there then I follow it. So far I have not seen it used much and when it was it was pointing to an old show which had very different times in it so I did not show the tracks. I'll try to find some more examples of them using that facility and perhaps adjust the base time to be that of the original show so that tracks show. It looks to me like they have put a bunch of stuff in their back-end but have not got around to using it in their app or web site so I expect it does not get much quality checking so odd things might happen. Note - i backed out the _SL300 hack in the most recent version. As for why things get cached or not ... LMS does it by magic as far as I am concerned. Maybe your player fails to download fast enough and it gives up - but LMS cached it anyway ... so next time that track played (if it was not too long afterwards) then LMS provided the image from its cache instead and did it faster. Paul, do you happen to know when/why some cover-art shown are "cached"
via a local LMS proxy? I assume it is not you who control it, but when
that happens cover-art seems to work fine. F.ex. I found this display

Just uploaded 0.1.6 with more hacks ... This time I have tried to get around the KCRW overnight stuff where they play simulcast of "Eclectic 24" station for 4 hours but do not provide a song list via the API for KCRW station ... So, if the programme is called "Eclectic 24" then I kick of a fetch of the song list from the other station. Seems to work. I have also put in some code to provide all of the same functionality if the listener is tuned to "KCRW Santa Barbara" however it will not work well if that station has real programmes (rather than inserted jingles/news) that are different to the main KCRW. >From their on-line schedule for the week it does look like they are the same. Eclectic24 track info is back ... they kicked it back into life about 15 minutes ago. Meanwhile I have been working on getting programme info for the KCRW shows ... and have just uploaded a first version with it. It is not quite right because the art switches between the programme specific image (if you have enabled it in the plugin settings) and the default station icon. I should be able to fix that. As for the images - I simply put in one of the URLs that is in the json data. I don't really like messing around with it because it could easily break things if they make backend changes. However, I'll take a look. Well, as long as they have a problem too, one much think they will fix
it at some point.
And btw, track info works right now on Morning Becomes Eclectic show.

I did a couple of other observations yesterday and today. The Station
art for main channel is shown fine on my SB Touch, RPi3 player and on
LMS web-interface. However station art for Eclectic24 channel doesn't
show on my RPi3. I suspect it might be because PNG-format ain't
supported on Max2Play's Jivelite player software. Would it be possible
to include it as a JPG instead (I assume it is part of the plugin) ?
Yesterday I also noticed the RPi3 was showing Album Art perfectly fine
in the beginning. But after I had done a number a software updates
including LMS792->LMS800 and updating various software on the RPi3
player I lost most Album Arts during the evening. It could be a
coincidence it happened after updating software, but I did some
investigations which implied it was dependent on filename of the
album-art files. It looks like cover-art files ending on something like
"._SL300_.jpg" or "._SL75_.jpg" doesn't show on the RPi3. Maybe the last
underscore before the (last) extension is the problem, maybe it is
because of the double extension (two times dot in the filename).
I can't believe your plugin is to blame for this (and cover-art still
shows nicely on LMS web UI and on SB Touch), and I suspect JiveLite
again (which was among the software getting an update). Once I have done
a bit more investigations on subject to confirm conclussion, I will
report problem to Max2Play or whoever is responsible for their version
of JiveLite.
However those ._SLxxx_.jpg files are served from Amazon, and I just
happen to know that if you remove the "._SLxxx_" part from the
filenames, you usually get a higher resolution version of the cover-art
file. And I'm guessing it will probably also work with my RPi3 player
then. Of course adding another hack like that also increases risk of
something breaks one day. But maybe worth considering?

Just in case you wondered why it is not showing what is playing right now ... I think it is because they have a problem with the timestamps in their data. As I write this it is 07:23 in UK (06:23 UTC) and in California it 23:23 (PDT) ... but their timestamps are for a few hours earlier. so my code does not show the song because it would be way to long ... I'll check it a few times during the day to see when this goes back to normal and then again check tomorrow ... perhaps things go wrong when the requester is in a different day to their site. I also played Morning Becomes Eclectic as soon as it started (still listening) and was really pleased that it worked as well. In Settings/Plugins things are listed alphabetically and this one is "KCRW Track Information". I'll add in KCRW Santa Barbara just for completeness (largely simulcast of KCRW). But I need to work out a way to show programme information when no songs are listed ... I have an idea for how to do it but do not want to praise their schedules web page otherwise people who are used to seeing some programme info via TuneIn would be disappointed (although you can tell the plugin not to interfere with the main KCRW at all). Have just installed your plugin. At first I was a bit confused. Couldn't
find the plugin in My Apps. Then I started my existing Eclectic24
"bookmark" in Favorites, and the artwork and trackinfo immediately
appears! So the plugin automatically detects and hooks up on any playing
audio-stream I guess? Nice :-)
And track-info actually appears to change pretty fast, sometimes
immediately. Also very cool I can see trackinfo for The Morning Becomes
Eclectic show on the main channel.
I cannot see where I can find the Label info. But maybe I haven't

Here is a first version - add the following repo to your LMS plugins and then enable "KCRW Track Information". They do not give the expected end time / duration of tracks so showing the currently playing one after a track change can take a few seconds. You should see artist, title and artwork. In the More area you should see Year, Label and album as well. It might also show the tracks when the programme "Morning Becomes Eclectic" is on the main KCRW station. However, you will lose the programme information at other times ... so you can disable that from the settings. For now, I have left all of the settings that I have for Radio France - not all are appropriate for this one but they don't hurt things. I think I can make that work as I handle json NowPlaying info in my Radio France and the new Supla Radio plugin. Ill take a look tomorrow.
