Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet
It seems very likely to me that this is time related (or lack of) and if so it is perhaps a small flaw in pCP where if it is operated disconnected from LAN/WLAN it will never have a valid time (unless you add an RTC board). Perhaps a small modification to pCP time settings where at initial setup you could write your own time setting i.e. "if my Pi can't get a valid time give it this one just so that things work" On the other hand one wonders why WWTT won't work with Epoch at boot - could it rather than the missing time itself be the lack of any timezone on which to calculate offset? I set the nomysqueezebox startup parameter in pCP and restarted. When disconnected from Wi-FI/LAN, and using pCP as a WAP, the Apps LMS menu now lists 'What Was That Tune?', but alas still doesn't list anything No history from before re-boot? Or not even after you've been playing for a while? I've played with Wi-Fi/LAN disconnected. No log entries for audioscrobbler either, even with logging enabled for it. What about the prefs files? WWTT writes its history to playhistory.prefs in the usual prefs folder (see Settings/Information). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet
Might it also be because it’s pCP and the cache is in RAM and WWTT plugin has nowhere to write to? That would only have an impact on the functionality when pCP is restarted. And as the history is saved in the same place as all other prefs, it's not the case anyway. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I'm on 8.1.1. it won't log me into MySqueezebox because I'm testing a setup with no external Internet access - just the Pi set to WAP and controlled from my Android. --nomysqueezebox is a startup parameter for LMS which would disable all interaction with mysb. I set the 'What Was That Tune?' log to debug and played a few tracks this morning. The output is below. Looks like when it powers up it starts from a timestamp of midnight, 70/01/01 (1 Jan 1970?). What do you think the ts => ### three digit number represents - maybe the number of seconds after the first timestamp that each track began (or ended?) playing? Interesting to read this, and thanks for the tip. As mentioned in a previous post, I want to use the Pi as a stand alone, portable media player (sometimes offline), controlled from my phone, that I can power on and start using without any faffing, so wouldn't want to be setting the date every day I use it. Not quite sure where the Pi would get the time setting in this solution either? I think, perhaps, I'm expecting too much of the Pi and pCP to enable offline use whilst storing log/Scrobble information - but no doubt pCP will become more sophisticated over time. I think the best potential solution is putting a battery backed-up real time clock such as this on the board (assuming it'll fit in my Flirc case) and somehow getting pCP to read the time from it: https://thepihut.com/products/macete...eal-time-clock Cheers Andy - Synology D218+ running LMS 8.1.1 in Docker container - 1 x Squeezebox Touch, 2 x Squeezebox Radios, 1 x Squeezebox Receiver, Squeeze Player & Squeeze Ctrl apps on Galaxy Tab S5e & Galaxy A40 - Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB (with 7" Touchscreen in case & Flirc USB IR dongle) & Pi 4B 8GB in Flirc case, both running piCorePlayer 8.0.0 & LMS 8.1.1, connecting over Wi-fi to DS218+, or LMS library copy on 2TB USB hard drive plugged into Pi when no Wi-fi available - LMS library of ALAC, ACC/M4A and MP3 files AndyTwizzle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114797 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet
These devices are, in general, used to set the date/time in the operating system. So, once it is working, it would be used by LMS etc without having to do anything else. The challenge is that pCP uses piCore which is a specialised operating system and does not have everything in it that some applications/ developers expect. The instructions at https://docs.macetech.com/doku.php/chronopi show that the one you found uses i2c so one thing to watch for is something else (like an audio board) trying to do the same thing. If this is a server only (not a player) then that issue would not arise. If no-one here says that they already have it working then maybe the supplier can do a quick test themselves or agree a no cost return if it does nor work with pCP. Thanks Paul. That RTC wouldn't fit in my Flirc case, but this one possibly might (although could be a bit tight): https://thepihut.com/products/macetech-chronopi-1-0-real-time-clock. I wouldn't know where to start configuring pCP/Last.fm plugin to use the RTC as the timesource - any advice? Looking at things another way. Install What Was That Tune which will give you a record of what you play even when offline. I dont think the RPi will get the date/time from the Android phone without some sort of helper. However, adding a battery backed up RTC to the RPi is relatively cheap and very easy (unless it is competing for GPIO pins). https://www.adafruit.com/product/3386 Might need some work to have it running on pCP. Have played a few tracks this evening with the Pi disconnected from Wi-Fi and set as the WAP, and confirmed that Playlog plugin shows no history of the tracks played - presume this also means the Last.fm plugin won't store up any Scrobbles. Odd to think the Raspberry Pi has no internal clock on the motherboard like PCs do - guess it's a space saving measure to avoid needing to put a battery on the board. Will experiment tomorrow to see if I can make the phone a WAP and tether the Pi to that. What would happen in the "cruise ship" scenario, where the Android phone isn't connect to any mobile data or Wi-Fi network - would there be anything for the Pi to actually tether to on the phone..? Also with the Pu connected to the phone where the phone is acting as WAP then it should be possible to get the time by running the getTime.sh script So maybe a background script that checks every few minutes to see if the current date is less than 2021 then try to get the time if internet is up then exits. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet
The scrobble includes the date / time that the track was played (rather than last.fm applying the current time to them and last.fm does not accept scribbles for lays that are more than a few weeks old and yours would probably be from 1970 if the time is not set. Maybe the pCP web interface could be extended to include a field for the user to enter the current date/time A shutdown script that saved the current time to a file and then used it to set the new time on boot when there is no internet would at least make the scribbles appear in an ascending recent time. So then you would be able to see what you listened to on holiday but not exactly when. At least if you sshed into it? Probably can, even from my Android, but guess I'd need to do that every time the Pi boots, and really just want to turn it on and play the music with the least amount of effort whilst on the mini-cruise. Guess I'm just reaching the limitations of using the Pi/pCP as a Scrobbling portable music library when there's no WiiFi/mobile data signal available. - Synology D218+ running LMS 8.1.1 in Docker container - 1 x Squeezebox Touch, 2 x Squeezebox Radios, 1 x Squeezebox Receiver, Squeeze Player & Squeeze Ctrl apps on Galaxy Tab S5e & Galaxy A40 - Raspberry Pi 4B 8GB (with 7" Touchscreen in case & Flirc USB IR dongle) & Pi 4B 8GB in Flirc case, both running piCorePlayer 8.0.0 & LMS 8.1.1, connecting over Wi-fi to DS218+, or LMS library copy on 2TB USB hard drive plugged into Pi when no Wi-fi available - LMS library of ALAC, ACC/M4A and MP3 files AndyTwizzle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=53445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114797 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I've managed to successfully enable WAP in my pCP, connect my Android to the Pi's Wi-Fi signal and control it from the pCP web interface and Squeeze Ctrl - although pCP never seems to remember the Bluetooth speaker that was last used, so there's a bit of delving about in the web interface to connect it again after a reboot. One question: 'this thread' (https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pc-based/275586-picoreplayer-picore-linux-raspberry-pi-squeezelite-post6326746.html) suggests LMS needs the time to be set. Looking at the code on the screen when booting the Pi in WAP mode, it shows it can't find the time - would this mean Scrobbling doesn't function when pCP is in WAP mode? Is there anyway to enable this? Was wondering if I somehow tethered the Pi to the phone, perhaps the phone's connection could supply the time - but can't see how this can be achieved if the phone has no external Wi-Fi of its own? For context, I'm going on a mini-cruise shortly, so there'll likely be no Wi-Fi or mobile data signal in the phone it could tether to, but I'd like to be able to use my pCP (in Flirc case) and 2TB HD as a portable music server and still be able to record its Scrobbles for uploading when it next has a "proper" Internet connection. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm scrobbling from LMS with no Internet
I think it queues them to disk and keeps trying until it manages to connect - but not 100% certain. https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/blob/359cd3a1d08a1fa86c954d1f6ac412714783522f/Slim/Plugin/AudioScrobbler/Plugin.pm#L325 However, take care ... I found from bitter experience that last.fm does not accept items more than X days old (I think 1 month) and I think it refuses items older than the most recent scrobbled. So when you come back on-line somewhere make sure you do not scrobble until LMS has caught up. e.g. if you play from your phone with a media player than can also scrobble. I am not 100% certain of this last part because last.fm went through a horrific period of API rewriting and breaking things a few of years ago. It hit me because I scrobble to one account once a month via a command line tool ... and something broke at last.fm so they were not accepted and then I reached their time limit so I could not get the old scrobbles in ... so I had to change the timestamp on them all ... which made it look like a very busy month once they finally accepted things again.
