Hi Slau,
I've applied for membership to the KKA group and am awaiting approval.
I also have downloaded the WhatsApp app and established a profile,
though I have no idea what to do with it now. LOL.

I think you'll need to wait for approval to join the list. In the mean time,

2016-07-21 Thread Vinny Pedulla
Hey Darwin,
As you heard on the Roger group any of the S Kontrollers work with your motif
XF.
You can use a 25 and still have all the same accessibility that the bigger
controllers would offer you. As long as the motif is connected alongside the S
Kontroller, you will have access to both and be able to play on either keyboard.

2016-07-06 Thread Kevin Reeves
The only way for this to work, is if you were to purchase one of the control
keyboards. Then, as long as the contact libraries you were interested in using
complied with the NKS standard, which is pretty new, they would be accessible.
There is no other way. The native instruments website has a growing list of
third-party libraries that use this nKS standard.

You cannot use voiceover to do anything. Loading and saving libraries, adding
things to your database, etc., is not accessible at all. The only way to do
this is through the complete control set up. The cheapest keyboard is the 25
note controller. It comes with 10 libraries including massive, prism, monarch,
a high-quality piano, and electric piano, and others. Through the use of the
complete control set up, you will be able to install third-party libraries and
load them. As long as they comply with the NKS protocol, Which is native
instruments new language for allowing instruments to communicate with the
keyboard controller's knob mapping.

Yes. You can just buy the hardware, which comes with complete select. However,
I don't know if contact is in that collection. Since all these libraries are
based on contact, it might come standard.

Hi. Does one need the komplete ultimate package or can i get the standard one?
What libraries will i miss with the standard package and can those libraries be
gotten separately if so desired?

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-29 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Joe,

The initial installation is not a problem as it's a standard installer. The
stand-alone update downloaders are the ones that seem completely inaccessible.
I don't mean the individual ISO images like Drum Lab, etc. but the initial
login and subsequent navigation in the dedicated downloaders. All of this may
become a moot point in the near future with the new Native Access software
currently in beta. We'll see…

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-29 Thread 'Hi' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hi Slau, I recently did an install on another machine and for me it was
very straight forward. First I installed what needed to be installed on
the system drive. Then I did the large factory libraries on a slave SSD
drive. After that I did the updates and the Komplete Kontrol software in
that order. I did everything myself without any assistance and things
went well. Of course you would then need assistance in PT to give NI the
proper location of the library. I'm not sure why you had difficulty with
the install unless there's something different going on because you used
the USB drive? The small challenge was telling the factory library where
to install because VO only says the word "text." When you interact with
it you'll get something like a pulldown menu where I could only use up
and down arrows to navigate. There's a rhythm to it though and once you
get it you can just go right through all of the separate installers one
by one. I did listen to the self voicing demo and it should be clear to
everyone other than the instance part I wrote about. Apparently PT is
different then Logic via the instance button. In logic you can just
instantiate a new track and hit record and insert Komplete Kontrol. In
PT it's necessary to use the instance button on the keyboard with each
new PT track as I previously wrote about. It's a bit slow trying to find
sounds because of so much scrolling around but it certainly is a welcome
change from having to remember everything and hoping you land on the
right instrument category and sound.

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-28 Thread Kevin Reeves
It will be no different in Pro Tools, since the self voicing stuff won't
be dealing with PT itself.

You'll instantiate it like any instrument track, press the browse button
on your controller, and away you go.

I'll be working with it extensively in August, and will report my
findings, but I don't think there will be any differences.

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-24 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Joe,

That's very helpful information regarding the instances. For years I've taken
to naming keyboard tracks by their patch names so the prejudicial muscle memory
will come in handy.

Incidentally, I've been having an absolute nightmare of a time with
installation. I've been on Team Viewer sessions with Sweetwater several times
and they can't seem to figure it out. We have one more potential solution but I
won't have a chance to give it a go until a small window of opportunity on
Monday morning. For what it's worth, for anybody who buys Komplete Kontrol
Ultimate, it would probably be a good idea to install the Komplete Kontrol
package first, do the downloading of updates, etc. and only then install the
Komplete 10 Ultimate. although there doesn't seem to be any explicit
instruction to do it in that order, the guys at sweetwater seem to agree that
it appears to matter. Anyway, more excitement.

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-24 Thread 'Hi' via Pro Tools Accessibility
Hey Slau, when I first got Ultimate it shipped on a drive. The problem
was when they updated the library between versions it was then mandatory
that you downloaded the entire library again through various different
instrument downloaders which was extremely cumbersome and time
consuming. A USB drive would have been very welcome. I appreciate the
vote of confidence in thinking I could do a demo but for now I'll leave
it to the pros who seem to have had a head start on the self voicing
feature. However, if I hear something that wasn't covered specifically
for PT I'll gladly chime in. The only thing I can think of off hand is
the instance button which must be used every time you instantiate a new
instrument or midi track. If you have 8 instrument tracks and want to
get to #4 in order to change a sound, you'll have to press the instance
button, move back to #1 and count 3 more clicks of the nob to get to #4.
When you hit record for instrument #4 in PT you'll then hear the
instrument on that track being played. Unfortunately there's no audible
way of knowing what instrument you're on in terms of instances so it's
very important to keep track or you'll be changing the wrong sound for
the wrong PT track. One good way is using names that correspond to the
track you're using. So, if it's a bass track you might want to name the
track in PT Bass Instance #3 Kontact Slap1. That way you'll know to go
to instance # 3 on the keyboard if you want to change the sound and
you'll also know the name of the original sound in case you want to
revert back at some point. Of course if you did change the sound you
should also update the Name of the track in PT to reflect the name
change but the instance will always remain #3. Another issue on the same
point is if you duplicate a track in PT. Every time you do this it will
create a new instance which can be confusing because it will put the
duplicated instance after the last one. That means if you had 8
instrument tracks in PT and duplicated track 5 the instance in Komplete
Kontrol would then be #9 because it would be created after the last
instance. In that case you would name the duplicated track using the
"instance #9" tag even though it would appear as track #6 in PT. It only
takes one wrong turn of a nob to change your sound forever and not
remember what it was supposed to be so it's vital to keep track of
everything. I experimented with 18 instrument tracks of Komplete Kontrol
yesterday with a few duplicated tracks that I changed sounds on and
things went smoothly without CPU overload. As I previously said Kontrol
is a bit more process intensive than other VI's and I don't know how
many tracks you would get on a smaller system. Using commit or freeze
would be best for freeing up CPU power and memory load.

The one inaccessible thing is the NI service center. If you're new to
setting everything up you will need some quick assistance because it is not
screen reader friendly. Once your account is done you won't need it anymore
other than updating software. You can update firmware on your own. The
possible downside is Komplete Kontrol does use a lot more resources than
just one instance of Kontact. So, computers that are older with not much
processing power are not good candidates for using something like this. All
of the nobs are touch sensitive so you do have to be careful about moving
your hands around because you certainly can inadvertently change something
without knowing.

Hi Joe,
Yep, a couple of blind users have been using the library without any
self-voicing functionality with success. It'll be nice to have the additional
feedback. Looking forward to it.

and, as far as I know, You will still need
sighted asistance installing and registering the
software. That's more than a little ironic, no?

Anyway, to contact Native Instruments, go to:

Naturally either going by memory or having a

changed the features of how the UI works and it
has been way more difficult in the past 3

the way the library is accessed. I'm hoping the

Re: Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol

2016-06-21 Thread Cara Quinn
thanks for posting this Slau.

I actually purchased the Komplete 10 Ultimate update along with the S 88 a
couple of weeks ago but also have not had time to set this up yet. So I too am
looking forward to hearing about others’ experiences with this.

It’s funny as I really do want to get this up and running but everything in the
universe it seems is shouting to be taken care of first. :) So when I get back
into town next week I may finally have some time with some sighted assistance
to get the keyboard software and all of the updates installed.

I have used the keyboard as a plain midi controller and really love it so I am
excited about the libraries! :)

Thanks again and do have a great day!

Cheers!

Some of you undoubtedly heard about the recent progress with the accessibility

controllers. Frankly, I'm somewhat surprised that there hasn't been more
discussion either here or on the Logic list. Understandably, it isn't a cheap
library and the additional necessary expense of the controller probably makes
it something for which many folks have to budget and purchase in time. Again,
however, it's curious that there hasn't been more talk of it on the list as it
relates to an accessible music library. Granted, it was only officially
released a few days ago so I suppose there aren't too many that have access.
For those interested, Andre Louis will be doing a live Q this Saturday. You
can listen through the following link:
http://3.onj.me:8000/komplete.m3u

Andre's not a Pro Tools user, to the best of my knowledge, but the information
is entirely relevant as the accessibility is a function of the self-voicing
aspect of the software along with the S-series controller.

I'll probably do some type of audio walk-through as it specifically relates to
Pro Tools. I received the controller and software this morning. As luck would
have it, starting this afternoon, I have a series of daily sessions that run
all the way into July 4th weekend so I won't have any significant time to spend
with the setup but I'll certainly attempt to make some progress here and there
before or after sessions.

For those who already have controllers and are considering Komplete, it might
be a good idea to simply go for the smallest of the S-series which is the
25-key controller. This would facilitate all of the navigation and it would
keep the cost to a minimum.

OK, I'll post further messages as things take shape.

Slau

Hi Slau,

I was not aware there was something new coming out, but I am not as close to
the fire as some other people.
Can you tell why a controler is needed when I for instance already have an Avid
S3?
is it like a keyboard on where you can play those native instruments?
I ll look for some samples, this stuff is rather new to me.
Thx,

Mac
