2024-06-17 Thread Martin Dobias via QGIS-User
Hi all

Good news everyone - the detailed schedule is now available on the
conference website:
https://uc2024.qgis.sk/schedule/details/

We are expecting 50 talks and 15 workshops over the two days. For those
looking for a small escape from the conference buzz, there will be a large
"focus" / "quiet" room at the library right next to the conference rooms.
And after the first day of the conference, there will be a social event
with food and drinks.

A quick reminder: early bird tickets are available only until the end of
June - only two weeks left!

Those who plan to join the contributor meeting, please do not forget to add
your name to the list of participants on the wiki:
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/wiki/27th%E2%80%90Contributor%E2%80%90Meeting%E2%80%90in%E2%80%90Bratislava

[Qgis-user] QGIS User Conference 2024 - registration open

2024-04-29 Thread Martin Dobias via QGIS-User
Hi all

Just a quick note that tickets for this year's User Conference are now
available!

You can get your ticket on the web site of the conference:
https://uc2024.qgis.sk/

There are two newly added pages on the site:
- tentative schedule - https://uc2024.qgis.sk/schedule/
- practical info when attending - https://uc2024.qgis.sk/attending/

We are now in the process of going through the submitted talks and
workshops - there are over 80 proposals! We would like to publish the
program sometime in May. Most likely we will be running talks in three
rooms in parallel, plus workshops in three more rooms.

See you in Bratislava!

Re: [Qgis-user] Shifting a Geotiff image

Anyone have any suggestions.

If it just a bit off, then the plugin "Freehand raster georeferencer"
can be quick to shift it, otherwise use georeferencer from core (Layer -
georeferencer), which is especially more flexible and the right tool if
you have GCPs that you can use.
Be careful, sometimes crashes can occur with certain transformation
types, so better save beforehand (autoSaver and MemoryLayerSaver are
your friends).

Image created in WGS84 z51S.

Sound like UTM (good, metric CRS), though WGS84 might be geographic CRS
(worse, pixel size undefined/different in x,y).

Cheers

[Qgis-user] problem with GRASS custom variables

2023-08-05 Thread Martin Landa via QGIS-User
Dear QGIS users,

I have problem setting up custom GRASS-related variables in QGIS settings
(use custom variables):

Unfortunately after restarting QGIS the statement below in Python Console

from grass.pygrass.gis import Mapset

fails with

ImportError: Could not load grass_raster.8.4.

When I set the same environmental variables before starting QGIS from shell
than the pyGRASS statement *works*:

GISBASE=/home/martin/src/grass/dist.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
PYTHONPATH=/home/martin/src/grass/dist.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/etc/python
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/martin/src/grass/dist.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/lib qgis

Any idea why custom variables defined by QGIS settings fail in this case?
Why are they behaving differently from environmental variables defined in
the shell?

Thanks in advance, Martin

Re: [Qgis-user] OTB Plugin Activation

2022-03-15 Thread Martin Bittens via Qgis-user

Hello Nicolas,

thanks a lot for your advice. The OTB-plugin is working now. I must
admit that I made a mistake when I tried entering the path to the OTB
binaries. I clicked directly on the respective OTB fields in the
processing --> settings --> OTB tab (e.g., 'OTB application folder'). As
I wrote nothing happened then. But I had to move the cursor in the white
space beside the fields and double click there. Then a menu opened where
I could enter/select the correct OTB paths

Again, many thanks

Hello Andrea,

thanks a lot for your fast response.

1.) Package information

I took the version numbers from the' QGIS --> Help --> about window and
from the plugin manager.

Here are the package information from the network installer:

GRASS GIS: 7.8.6-6;

GRASS plugin for QGIS: 3.22.0-4

GRASS plugin for QGIS (long term release): 3.16.13-1

QGIS Desktop (long term release): 3.16.3-1

QGIS Desktop: 3.22.0-4

2.) Installation

I came from QGIS 3.20 (in this versions I did not receive the mentioned
error message, the GRASS plugin was working well) and did the update
without creating a new directory. The fresh install I did when I made
the upgrade from QGIS 3.18 to 3.20.

Hi Martin,
these version numbers are really strange.

I'm referring to the version numbers of the packages that you will see
in the OSGeo4W Network Installer you used to update QGIS.
Those version numbers are in the form of qgis 3.22.0-4, qgis-ltr
qgis-ltr 3.16.13-1, ...

Could you please check again?

Anyway, are you sure you are not mixing packages from old v1 OSGeo4W
repository and new v2 OSGeo4W repository as stated in the QGIS Web site:
"CAUTION: Upgrades of old setups using the new repository are not
supported. You need to do a fresh install or use a different directory."

Re: [Qgis-user] Raster Layer Symbology Problem

2021-03-12 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello Sebastian,

thank you for your response. Yes indeed, for me the coloring style you
showed would be an option. This style is what I get in GRASS GIS as
well. But,

what I would prefer in QGIS is this (as provided by QGIS 3.16.4 LTR):

So I hope that in future QGIS versions, the user will have the choice
between the different display options. As far as I understood the
discussions in the links you sent there is something going on in order
to add an option for selecting the new  or the old display style.
Unfortunately, I am not an expert in that programming stuff and
therefore I don't know how to apply what there is explained. I will wait
and see what the next QGIS versions offer for displaying raster gradient
legends. And I will keep the QGIS 3.16.4 LTR with special care not
loosing the display style I showed above.

Martin

I assume the assumption of the designers (thank you Nyall Dawson et al

As shown by your issue and in the links I shared with you the reality

Unless you want to?
To help me understand your use case more would a legend that was

[Qgis-user] Raster Layer Symbology Problem

2021-03-09 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello QGIS User List,

I already sent this message but it was not posted, so it is here again.
Hopefully it works now.

I am still struggling with the problem creating a legend for a raster
layer. Usually I am working with the following settings in order to
colorize a calculated raster layer (e.g. after applying v.surf.idw on a
point data set):

- rendering type: singleband pseudocolor

- interpolation: linear

- mode: equal interval

In QGIS 3.18.0:

Selecting an appropriate color ramp and applying a classification in,
e.g., 5 classes, I see in the "Layer Properties - Symbology" window the
5 colored classes separately and the corresponding 5 values (in my case
temperatures) for each color coding. But in the "Layer Panel" the legend
shows the color coding as a continuum and only the first and last value
of the value range appears. The same thing happens in the layout manager
when I create a layout for printing which includes a legend.

In QGIS 3.16.4 LTR and previous versions:

Doing the same I get the 5 color classes separately and the
corresponding values for each of the 5 classes in the "Legend Panel"as
well as in the layout manger.

My question: Is this a bug in the new QGIS version or does QGIS 3.18 not
provide this functionality anymore?

Thanks a lot for a comment.

Regards

Martin

[Qgis-user] Layer Properties - Symbology

2021-03-08 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello QGIS Users,

I just got some problems creating a legend for a raster layer. Usually I
am working with the following settings in order to colorize a calculated
raster layer (e.g. after applying v.surf.idw on a point data set):

- rendering type: singleband pseudocolor

- interpolation: linear

- mode: equal interval

In QGIS 3.18.0:

Selecting an appropriate color ramp and applying a classification, e.g.,
5 classes, I can see in the "Layer Properties - Symbology" window the 5
classes with color labels and the corresponding 5 values for each class.
But in the "Layer Panel" the legend shows only the first and last value
of the value range. The same thing happens in the layout manager when I
create a layout for printing which includes a legend.

In QGIS 3.16.4 LTR and previous versions:

Doing the same I get the 5 color classes with the corresponding values
for each of the 5 classes in the "Legend Panel"as well as in the layout
manger.

In my first attempt submitting this message to the QGIS user list I
attached 2 screenshots depicting the problem. But the files were too big
and the list moderator didn't  approve. I hope the problem description
only by words is sufficient.

My question: Is this a bug in the new QGIS version or does QGIS 3.18 not
provide this functionality anymore?

Thanks a lot for a comment.

Martin

QGIS 3.18 does support LAS/LAZ format to load point cloud datasets. The
problem is that some installers for some platforms (most notably the
Windows installer) do not include the PDAL library needed to read LAS/LAZ
files. There is now an experimental alternative installer which includes
also PDAL library and thus it can read LAS/LAZ files too:
https://qgis.org/downloads/QGIS-OSGeo4W-3.18.0-1.msi

Please note that 3.18.0 release has been pulled back few days ago because
of several major bugs, so please consider this as a testing release where
some things may not work.

and QGIS 3.16.4 (LTR) packages and must admit that now I am a bit
confused. A couple of days ago I already made an update of my existing
QGIS installation (3.10 and 3.14) using the  network installer
osgeo4w-setup-x86_64.exe which I downloaded from the QGIS homepage. As
usual I selected 'Advanced Installation', the update run without any
problems, and at the end I got the updated QGIS versions 3.18.0 and
3.16.4. But now I read this (e.g.):

Long story short: you cannot upgrade from old installs and have to remove and
reinstall or use a separate directory. As the new OSGeo4W only supports 64bit
the default root directory was changed to C:\OSGeo4W, which might help with
that if you were on 64bit earlier.

Also note that it now only has one version of Python - namely 3.9, which
doesn't support Windows 7 anymore. Other updates include Qt 5.15, GDAL 3.2,
PROJ 7.2 and SAGA 7.8.

What does it mean,

- you cannot upgrade from old installs (I did it with success as far I
could see. My QGIS-projects set-up with older QGIS versions are running
obviously without any problems.

- it now only has one version of Python - namely 3.9 (I checked my QGIS
installation, there is no Python 3.9).

- Other updates include ...  SAGA 7.8 (in the package list I could only
see SAGA 2.3.2 LTR and SAGA 2.1.2.)

It would be great if somebody can explain what these messages like
mentioned above are about.

Thank you very much.

Martin

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 3.18.0 and QGIS 3.14.4 (LTR) packages released and OSGeo4W reboot

2021-02-23 Thread Martin Dobias
Hi Jürgen

Great - thanks a lot for all your efforts!

As for PDAL / point clouds, during the development the initial requirement
for PDAL 2.2 has been later dropped to PDAL >= 1.7:
https://github.com/hobu/untwine/commit/5d83f32f81aa461a9b12f1084197aa7af5f8ec19

The current windows standalone QGIS installer is currently unable to open
LAS/LAZ files, which is confusing to users... Would it be possible to
compile QGIS with PDAL 1.8 (which is already included in osge4w packages) ?
There should be hopefully no code changes necessary. Howard says PDAL 1.8
is quite old and has some bugs, but that's still better than no LAS/LAZ
support at all :-)

Regards
Martin

[Qgis-user] All possible routes between two points in a line network

2021-01-27 Thread Prof. Dr. Martin Berchtold
Hello list,

is there any possibility to calculate all possible routes between two points in
a line network (and not the shortest or fastest one) and draw them into a line
layer? In addition, it would be helpful if each route line contained the number
of "collected" nodes as an attribute. Any idea?

Thanks a lot!

Re: [Qgis-user] Diagnosing QGIS slowdown (Windows)

2020-12-16 Thread Martin Pergler
Helpful, thanks.

I've now created a separate project which uses a (layout)-rendered map from
the main project, and where I selectively pull in individual layers for
editing from the gpkg. That works fine. (I like @baswein's idea of 2
instances drag-and-drop, but I've been fine so far only dragging within one
instance, but from the main project .qgz opened up in the Browser; the
effect is the same)

@Nicolas, so far I've tried creating a single brand new new .shp (non .gpkg)
layer. The general UI sluggishness (in the main project) is the same, as is
the long delay exiting edit mode. But the sluggishness editing a new
feature's attribute form is gone. Ditto for creating a new layer inside my
main .gpkg file. So it's not *directly* related to gpkg vs shp, though if
I'm experiencing problems working with gpkg files overall, especially
complex multi-layer reads from gpkg, that would still be consistent. I
haven't bypassed gpkg completely.

Given the alternate-project workaround, I'll muddle through for a few days,
and next week try if 3.16.2 miraculously fixes the issue. If not, I'll
rebuild my project, which by using saved styles/layer defn files and adding
via the browser from the main project won't be that huge a hassle. Still
some, of course, as I need to fiddle with layer groups and ordering, joins,
project variables and the like.

Maybe with the new cross-project copying/opening functionality, I should
rebuild the project as multiple, leaner ones anyway. I have accreted about
50 vector layers and 30 raster ones, which turn on and off via themes,
exclusive groups, and temporal ranges. Maybe now's the time to rebuild as
multiple much simpler projects merely accessing the same data store (and
saved styles).

Re: [Qgis-user] Question about Qgis - Google Earth historical imagery

2020-12-16 Thread Martin Pergler
As Ujaval has written, it is not obtainable as tiles.

If you're interested in a specific region, technically you could follow the
manual approach described at
https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/373497/is-it-possible-to-export-the-google-earth-engine-basemap-satellite-version-not/373610#373610,
using your desired historical image in GE Pro during the process. You also
need to consider any licensing issues (as there may well be with using the
most recent Google imagery tiles outside the Google platform to begin with.)

Re: [Qgis-user] Diagnosing QGIS slowdown (Windows)

2020-12-16 Thread Martin Pergler
Thanks for the reply.

System: Lenovo T490, Intel i7 8565U (runs at about 9-20% CPU usage, no
change during the freezes), GEForce MX250 (runs about 20-25% whenever QGIS
is running). 16 Gig physical memory. SSD with capacity, no unusual disk
activity or competing process hogs. All worked just fine until now.

Interestingly, if I create a new project with just a couple of layers I'm
actively editing, there is no problem. That's a temporary workaround, I
guess. And I could rebuild my project file, which would be a hassle but
doable by importing layers one by one from the old project via the browser
to retain the layer properties (and testing after every few to see if/when
the problem arises again). But before taking the time to do that still
hoping for any suggestions on how to track down the processing hog in the
current project, or ideas what typically makes QGIS choke.

[Qgis-user] Diagnosing QGIS slowdown (Windows)

2020-12-16 Thread Martin Pergler
Happy user of QGIS since about 3.2. Currently using 3.16.1 (OSGeo4W install)
and experiencing pretty severe performance degradation. I know these things
are a bear to hunt down; would appreciate any suggestions how to go about
finding the cause of the problem.

Symptoms:
- Mild sluggishness rendering canvas with editing turned off, as well as
general UI operations (e.g. tooltips on layers in layer list sometimes first
appear as a black box, and only 1/2s later fill with the actual tooltip)
- Mild sluggishness digitizing new lines or vertex-editing new ones
- Significant slowdown in attribute form for new features digitized (2-3s
response time to type in a text field, for instance)
- When attribute form closed, prior features in layer being edited sometimes
fail to be rendered on canvas (the new one just added is)
- 10-15s freeze (blue circle mouse icon) after exiting edit mode. Edits are
saved properly.

Things worked just fine on the same project until last month, when I took a
break from GIS tasks. In between, I both upgraded 3.16.0 -> .1, as well as a
new Windows OS update installed itself, and some new device drivers. So
plenty of things to blame.

I have already:

1. Uninstalled and reinstalled OSGeo4W completely

2. Tried with a new, no-plugin user profile (sluggishness persists, though a
bit better - so I suspect some low-level slowdown which struggles with
anything additional, but is not directly caused by something in my profile)

3. Checked I have all layers indexed, no crazy validation rules, etc. BTW
all my layers are in a gpkg (or raster TIFFs) on a local drive (and besides
it worked before).

4. Monitored hardware performance. I have adequate hardware for QGIS. CPU
usage stays ~30%, GPU ~20%, temperatures reasonable, RAM usage reasonable.

5. Tried disabling the Browser panel (given some recent bug reports on
Browser and network drives). No effect.

Thanks for any sleuthing suggestions!

Re: [Qgis-user] DEM error with OpenDataNRW

2020-11-16 Thread Prof. Dr. Martin Berchtold
Thanks a lot for your help!
It seems that correct functionality only depends on the sequence and sorting of
Y and X !?
"Cells with same Y coordinates must be placed on consecutive lines. For a same
Y coordinate value, the lines in the dataset must be organized by increasing X
values"

The data that works
(http://www.vermkv.service24.rlp.de/opendat/dgm25/dgm25.zip) is sorted
according to these organizing rules with ascending X for same Y...:

40.000 547.000 347.382
400025.000 547.000 345.370
400050.000 547.000 342.344
400075.000 547.000 341.794
400100.000 547.000 340.223
400125.000 547.000 337.833

The NRW data sort the other way round (see below). So I probably "just" will
have to rearrange Y and X in the NRW data to get it ready ... ... ... Yes,
works! Cool.

Thanks again!
Martin

Hi,

I believe, but Even will confirm, that the data is not organized correctly for
the gdal driver. I looked at line 2001 and the file is organized by x value
with incrementing y values. The x value is constant and the y value change on
every line. The error is detected on line 2001 when the x value changes
x y z
32342000.00 5659997.00 43.35
32342000.00 5659998.00 43.41
32342000.00 565.00 43.34
32342001.00 5658000.00 45.16 (line 2001)
32342001.00 5658001.00 45.13
32342001.00 5658002.00 45.00

I reprojected and srtm and save it as a xyz using gdal12xyz and this is what I
got for the first few lines

xyz

26548864.985 8824521.429 -32768
26548904.304 8824521.429 -32768
26548943.623 8824521.429 -32768
26548982.941 8824521.429 -32768
and at line 4749 thing change to a new y coordinate
26735471.145 8824521.429 -32768
26735510.464 8824521.429 -32768
26548864.985 8824482.110 -32768
26548904.304 8824482.110 -32768

As you can see, the x values changes on every line and the y value is constant
as stated in https://gdal.org/drivers/raster/xyz.html
"The spacing between each cell must be constant and no missing value is
supported. Cells with same Y coordinates must be placed on consecutive lines.
For a same Y coordinate value, the lines in the dataset must be organized by
increasing X values. The value of the Y coordinate can increase or decrease
however. The supported column separators are space, comma, semicolon and
tabulations."

I am not sure the driver can handle this. You can however open the data as a
csv and rasterize or interpolate the data (using nearest neighbor) If you use
the same pixel size and posting, this will work and not change the data.

Perhaps Even R. has a solution.
Nicolas

Hello QGIS-Users,

today I did the update from QGIS 3.14.2 to 3.14.16 with the result that
I cannot start anymore the version "QGIS with GRASS 7.8.3". I received
the following message:

"This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be
initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Available platform plugins are: direct2d, minimal, offscreen, window."

Some additional information:

- I am working with Windows 10;

- I got the same result with "QGIS 3.10. with Grass 7.8.3";

- QGIS 3.10 and 3.14.16 (those versions without the GRASS plugin)
working without any problems;

- I checked the internet for solutions but what I found was a bit
confusing to me (creating a python script, changing batch files to start
up QGIS, etc.).

Maybe somebody has an idea how to get into "QGIS with GRASS 7.8.3" like
I could do before: just click on the bottom and... here we are!

Thank you so much

Regards

Martin

Re: [Qgis-user] PDF Georefernces

2020-07-13 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello Warren,

if you have some  locations in the pdf-file with known coordinates you
can do the following (for me this procedure works fine in most of the
cases):

1.) Convert the pdf-file into *.tif or *.jpg;

2.) In QGIS open the georeferencer tool (you can find it in the raster
tab of the QGIS main window);

3.) Import the *.tif/*.jpg file  into the georeferencer tool;

4.) Add the coordinates of the known locations into the imported map by
using the "add point" button on top;

5.) Open "Settings --> Transformation Settings", complete the setting
options, and click on "OK";

6.) Click on "Start Georeferencing" (the green triangle on top);

Then you should get what you wanted...!

Regards

Martin

If these are raw photos you need a bundle adjustment/SfM step to
generate an orthophoto. This cannot be done 'directly' with gdal.
There are some commercial systems and clouds, or you try ODM (Open Drone
Map).
You may also need ground control points etc.

The resulting (georeferenced) orthophoto can be handled in QGIS.

Re: [Qgis-user] wishing for accurate lattitude/longitude from a cell phone

2020-05-25 Thread Martin Weis
Dear list,

I would like to add some things here, since I am trying to use RTK GPS
in the field with mobile devices.

> 1) Accuracy of GPS Devices

RTK GPS or any more precice GPS technology will be external, you cannot
get around the missing measurements and lack of algorithms in consumer
grade chips.

Then it depends on the capabilities of the device to receive satellites
of all systems (one or multiple frequencies/signals) and be able to
apply correction data (a question of algorithms). For better equipment
the prices rise quickly.

There are some low cost devices evolving, a new chip was recently
announced: Skytraq PX1122R for about $100. Could be tested with a break
out board and antenna, e.g. see board at navspark shop. The module even
supports PPP, which might be especially interesting where mobile network
is not available.
https://navspark.mybigcommerce.com/px1122r-evb-px1122r-multi-band-quad-gnss-rtk-evaluation-board/

Other low cost solution were mentioned (emlid/REACH, Catalyst, etc).

> 2) Software

On Android I was able to get the external signal into the system, you
need the app "Bluetoth GPS" (or similar) or a USB2serial + app (better
avoid tiny plugs and large cables during field work). Additionally you
need to override the internal GPS position with the Blue GPS App in the
developer settings (mock provider).

My impression was, that most Android applications target the accuracy of
the device only, so e.g.

* you cannot zoom to cm-levels, only ~100m
* not many proper GIS Apps are available, most are expensive
* Tracking usually does not rely on cm-grade positions, so the apps are
not made for it

One particular thing is, that with high accuracy of the signal, an
internal computation in single precision float will not suffice (all
computations must be in double precision), and you may end up with a cut
off of the last position digits, e.g. if you have 8 digits, 4 before and
4 after the decimal separator (e.g. in DDMM. format), then you end
up with coordinates cut down to 2-3 decimeters in the real world
(typical GPS mouse output, not so uncommon).

So, looking into that aspect may be required, and only few Apps may
implement that (e.g. expensive "surveyor" apps for professionals? did
not test).
BTW, sponsoring the double accuracy implementation for QField is
welcome, as mentioned ot the webpage. It is already a very usable and
FLOSS GIS solution for the field, especially useful if you have a QGIS
workflow already ;)

Finding proper solutions and recommendations still required...

[Qgis-user] QGIS with Garmin Glo

2020-05-18 Thread Martin Valiquette
Hi
I need help to get my garmin GLO working with QGIS 3.10.5 and windows 10 on
a Windows surface pro

Windows detects the GLO and associate it to COM3, COM4, COM5 and COM6. Why
4?

In QGIS i try all four com port but the blue led on the GLO keeps flashing.

At no time it asks a 4 digit code.

The com port seems to be at 9600 baud. Is that normal?

Am I skipping a configuration step in windows,

[Qgis-user] qgis wfs provider loads all features when showing attribute table

2020-03-16 Thread Martin Landa
Hi,

I am providing an experimental WFS service using MapServer. When
loading the service in QGIS (3.4), only features overlapping map
extent are fetched, so far it's good. Unfortunately QGIS behaves
differently when I try to set up symbology for a WFS layer or just
open an attribute table. Than QGIS tries to load ALL features from WFS
service. This is not desired since WFS layer contains too many
features. Is it possible to change this behaviour in order to show
attributes for features already fetched (and displayed in QGIS).

Thanks, Martin

Re: [Qgis-user] Exporting Google map image layout in pdf

2019-12-10 Thread Martin Weinelt
Jean,

the area you are allowed to use in a layout is quite often limited to
smaller extents with services such as GM.
Give it a try with a map/layout that covers a smaller (really smaller) area
to make sure it's not a technical or usage problem on your side.

If you have RGB images, you could use EGI=2*G-B-R and a threshold to
segment plants (if they dont overlap in the image), then count it.

But since the plants in your images overlap and other areas are green,
too, this might be difficult (you need to find something to segment
trees based on other features, e.g. to segment the "star"
structure/centers of the trees).

Are you thinking about removing the option in GUI or to get rid of the

To shed some light on the methods for those interested... a good
starting point is PAL docs [1] with links to papers, unfortunately
most links there are broken, but this paper is a good start:
Laurent et al: From Point Feature Label Placement to Map Labelling (2009)

The paper is available here [2] and gives an overview of the whole
process of labeling with PAL. Generally the idea is to turn labeling
into a general combinatoric problem and then apply some heuristic. The
paper also covers the various optimization techniques. FALP seems to
be the most basic initial solution. "Tabu" seems to be a
meta-heuristic method from 1980's [3], "chain" stands for "ejection
chains" concept somehow related to Tabu search. And finally Popmusic
is a search method co-authored from one of the authors of PAL.

I remember there was a paper with quite extensive testing of the
methods, but can't find it anymore. From what I remember, one would
higher amount of labeled features with a slower method (e.g. Popmusic)
or fewer labels with a faster method. If we decide to stick with a
single method, it may be interesting to get the opinion of original
PAL authors on what method to choose... I don't know enough about
those methods to decide.

Cheers
Martin

The other way might be to create a join to your target layer and then select

Hi QGIS users,
I'm new to QGIS and this is my first question.
Can I use QGIS "Select by Expression" to select all features in a vector layer
where the "name" field value is also found within another layer (delimited text
layer with no geometry)? I get a syntax error when using the following SQL.

"NAME" IN (SELECT "NAME" FROM 'LAYER2')

I'm using the "Map Layers" menu to add the layer name, so it actually displays
something like 'LAYER2_ca36271a_8ec7_4aa7_a36c_67418104f66c' instead of just

Re: [Qgis-user] Query cross-table "similar" time stamps?

2019-05-20 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Bernd,
I replied to your question on stack exchange (with a similar expression to
Harrissou)

I initially started with a virtual layer (because I’m a database guy – you know
the expression “when you only have hammer everything looks like nail”) but then
I thought I should try to find a more accessible, QGIS way to do it.

Here is the SQL I used in the DB Manager which could be loaded as a layer:

SELECT *, (select "Tracks"."fid" as PositionId
  FROM "Tracks"
  where julianday("Sightings"."ObsTime" )
-julianday("Tracks"."PositionTime")>=0
order by "Tracks"."PositionTime" DESC LIMIT 1) as
PositionID
FROM "Sightings"

My two test tables where Sightings(fid,ObsTime) and Tracks(fid, PositionTime).

It creates a look alike of the Sightings layer with an additional column for
the id of the Position.

I also made another SQL statement which created Line geometries connecting the
Sighting and the associated position. That’s on my computer at home which I
don’t have access to ATM.

Regards,
Martin.

Subject: Re: [Qgis-user] Query cross-table "similar" time stamps?

Hi Bernd

I did not understand that you were looking for a way to create a virtual layer.
Virtual layers require SQL instructions and in this particular case, I think
you'll need window function (I don't know if supported by the SpatiaLite
provider in the backend and don't have time to give it a try). This is quite a
different thing.

From what I understood you wanted to be able to join both layers. This is what
the expression I'm suggesting is meant to do:
#. Open the birds layer attribute table
# Use the field calculator button to add a new (virtual?) field (it will be
used store the track id)
#. Populate the field using the provided expression

attribute(get_feature ('track_points','time', aggregate( layer:='track_points',

aggregate:='max',

expression:="time",

filter:="time"< attribute(@parent, 'time'))),'fid')

#. Apply

This expression is a kind of WHERE clause so basically we say update bird_layer
set yournewfield=fid from track_points where whatisinget_featureparenthesis.
@parent indeed is a imho hidden variable that refers to the feature in the bird
layer. [0]

What dialect is it? QGIS' (highly inspired from sql... (and python?)). I don't
know if it has a proper name and there's no better doc as far as I know than
looking at the functions' help in the expression dialog and practice. You
quickly get the logic. You also have some samples in the user manual [2]. And
probably in some tutorials out there.

Yes single or double quotes are important and have their meaning [3]

Then you can do whatever you want with this field (label, symbolize with
geometry generator [1] eg line connecting track_point and bird, the usual join
of layers...)

PS: I did not test your data since the date formatting I had in the temporary
layers I used was the same as in your picture (that i only viewed after I sent
my first reply)

Currently there is only limited API support for 3D map views. For
example, you can set 3D renderers for your vector layers, but some
functionality is not available in Python (like access to the 3D map
view or creation of "offline" 3D renderer that would allow you to
trigger 3D rendering upon request).

Can you explain in a bit more detail what are the bits you would like
to modify for every new frame? How are the 7000 data overlays
represented? I may have some time to make the necessary API
functionality available in QGIS 3.8 which will be out soon.

Cheers

[Qgis-user] GeoPython 2019 - Call for QGIS Contributions

2019-03-14 Thread Christen Martin
Hi all,

The 4th GeoPython Conference takes place again in Basel, Switzerland this year
June 24-26. ( http://2019.geoypthon.net ).
The call for speakers will end tomorrow, we got many proposals so far but
looking at them I didn't really see anything QGIS related which is quite
unfortunate.

It would be great if someone wants to present something about QGIS Plugins /
Automation using Python.

I know the call will close tomorrow (March 15), but a title with short abstract
would be enough, a detailed description could follow later. In addition, I will
try to keep the call open until Sunday evening CET.
Submissions can be done here: https://submit.geopython.net/geopython2019/

Kind regards,
Martin

Re: [Qgis-user] QGIS 3 Frozen

2019-03-06 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello Colleagues,

here an update about problems with the plugin manager (as described in
my previous email):

By incidence I discovered that my internet connection via the wifi
router changed from 2.4GHz to 5GHz. That means I did the download and
installation of the QGIS updates using the 5GHz connection (without any
problems). Starting QGIS and trying to open the plugin manger led to a
frozen QGIS, as already mentioned. Just because I didn't get any idea
how to solve the problem I switched the internet connection back to
2.4GHZ (remembering that in the past I always used this connection and
didn't get any problems with the plugin manager).

The result: In QGIS 3.7.0 and 3.6.0 the plugin manager is working, in
QGIS 3.4.5 I got this:

The 'Copy Report' button is greyed out, creation of a report does not work.

Can anybody give an explanation what is going on with QGIS?

I do not understand:

1.) why the use of the plugin manager is depending on the type of the
internet connection (2.4GHz/5GHz) and

2.) why QGIS 3.4.5 is crashing anyway independent if I am using a 2.4GHz
or a 5GHz connection?

Thank you for your help.

btw, processing framework could be modified to call v.out.ogr with -s

As far as I understood the QGIS 3.4.2 settings GRASS 7.4.2 should be
used. After I read your comment on the path issues I checked the
/apps/grass folder. 3 different versions are installed there:

grass-6.4.3

grass-7.4.2

grass-7.7.svn

In accordance to your advice I removed the .svn term from the GRASS 7.7
folder name and - it works. I can use now the GRASS commands in QGIS
3.4.2. Additionally I changed in the same way the folder name in the
grass77svn.bat and the related env.bat using GRASS 7.7.svn as a
stand-alone application as well.

I am  wondering which GRASS version QGIS 3.4.2 actually is using?
Unfortunately in the QGIS 3.4.2 menu
Settings/Options/Processing/Providers/GRASS there is no longer an option
available that allows to define the path to the correct GRASS version
(as it was in QGIS 3.2.1 - which was my last QGIS 3 version).

Best regards

Martin

Not exactly, but did you add the ubuntu-gis non-ltr ppa?

Below is my qgis.list with all entries to quickly change between LTR and
3.4 versions by switching
deb https://qgis.org/ubuntugis xenial main
vs.
deb https://qgis.org/ubuntugis-ltr xenial main

You need also to change xenial to bionic everywhere.

After changing the following should remove the deps properly and
reinstall the new version:

apt update
apt remove qgis-common python-qgis qgis-providers-common
python-qgis-common qgis-provid
er-grass
apt autoremove
apt install qgis python-qgis qgis-provider-grass qgis-providers

Pseudo-mercator might be your issue here, it might have large
distortions, since your region is far away from equator.
Consider using UTM for metric units and measurements.

And have a look for the CRS of your project, according to:

This is a known limitation. If you specify higher "Tile resolution",
the effect should be less pronounced (e.g. try 256px instead of the
default 16px). As you zoom in, the problem should also increasingly
disappear as more detailed terrain tiles get loaded. To help you
understand what is going on - the terrain entity is composed of tiles,
each tile samples height from your DEM, by default 16x16 samples per
tile. If some of the samples contain "no data" values, we cannot
create vertices in the terrain for them and so we cannot build faces
around those values.

Probably the best solution to this is to fill the "no data" values in
your DEM for better looking 3D view.

[Qgis-user] Wrong Path

2018-09-21 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello, good afternoon.

I got some trouble with the OSGeo4W Shell after I did the latest QGIS
update (to QGIS 2.18.24 64bit). Some of the Shell commands I'd use in
the past do not work anymore.

E.g., for checking the installed python packages: pip freeze --> Fatal
error in launcher: Unable to create process using
'"c:\osgeo4~1\bin\python.exe"
"C:\OSGeo4W64\apps\Python27\Scripts\pip.exe" ';

or

installing a new package: pip install geopy --> Fatal error in launcher:
Unable to create process using '"c:\osgeo4~1\bin\python.exe"
"C:\OSGeo4W64\apps\Python27\Scripts\pip.exe" install geopy'.

Interestingly I can use the pip command if I type at the Shell prompt:
c:\OSGeo4W64\bin\python.exe "C:\OSGeo4W64\apps\Python27\Scripts\pip.exe"
install geopy. Then the installation process is running correctly.

I do not know why "\osgeo4~1" appears in the path although the setting
is: set osgeo4w --> OSGEO4W_ROOT=C:\OSGeo4W64

QGIS is installed in the directory C:\OSGeo4W64, OS: Windows 10.

Does anybody know a solution for that problem?

Thank you very for your advice.

Martin

[Qgis-user] Provider Error

2018-07-13 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello QGIS Users.

I want to create a text field in an attribute table which contains some
data points by using the field calculator. So I selected:

- Create a new field

- Output field name: Comment

- Output field type: Text (string)

- Output field length: 10

- Text input: 'Area 2'

The Output preview shows: 'Area 2'. By clicking on "OK" I receive the
following message: "Could not add the new field to the provider"

My system is: Windows 10, QGIS2.18.21.

In the previous versions of QGIS I did not get that error when I added
with the field calculator text fields in attribute tables.

Does somebody know a solution solving the error?

Thank you very much.

Z values are interpreted as elevation - this should work for points,
linestrings and polygons.
M values are not interpreted.

I do not know why you have encountered this problem, but perhaps you could try
and alternative approach, depending on what you could like on the background.
The obvious choice may be to use an ESRI map service from
http://server.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services, as a WMS layer.

Best of luck

So the point layer has Z coordinates with elevation? What method of
altitude clamping have you chosen for the point layer's 3d renderer?
It seems like you are using absolute clamping... the other two methods
respect the vertical scale.

Sounds like you should look into a gpsd, which usually provides
(network) APIs for GPS data, but you should be able to push your own
data through it (maybe only geographical coordinates), included tools
like gpsfake come to my mind for a quick start.

Then you can use the standard GPS input in QGIS (or one of the many
other tools able to listen to gpsd).

[Qgis-user] QGIS 3.0.1

2018-03-28 Thread Martin Bittens

Hello, dear QGIS-Users.

Today I tried to install the latest version of QGIS (QGIS 3.1, 64bit
network installation). The download and the installation process worked
fine, but the post-install stopped at "/etc/postinstall/qgis.bat". I
could only click on "Cancel" to finish the installation what led to an
uncompleted, not working QGIS. I tried also the express installation but
got the same result. The installation stopped as soon as the
post-install started. My computer is a Win10-64bit machine. Under Win7
which I am running in a virtual machine on the same computer the QGIS3
installation worked perfect without any problems.

Does anybody know how I can solve the problem?

Thank you for your help.

Hm, often you need both transformations, since BETA is for whole
Germany, the others locally (often per federal state).

I checked in visualisations of differences for the new BWTA2017 of
Baden-Württemberg here:
https://github.com/Marwe/bwta2017data

I sent the following accidentially via PM, just some additional pointers

See (in German)
http://www.gkg-kassel.de/pdf/Praezise_Transformation_im_QGIS_mit_Batchmodus.pdf
for details, you need to add it to qgis' sqlite database of
transformations.

Transparency is currently not supported in 3D view - all objects are
fully opaque. In 3D, rendering of semi-transparent objects is not
trivial and requires some advanced tricks.

[Qgis-user] Auxillary storage fields and field calculator

Hi,

I have a postgis dataset that currently has sets of label x , y and rotations
for different projects. Moving to QGIS 3 I would like to remove these fields
and use auxillary storage instead.
I have created the auxillary storage fields and I would like to use the field
calculator to copy the data from the label_x fields in the potgis dataset into
the new fields. When I try to "Update existing field" the auxillary storage
fields are not listed. I can use them as inputs to an expression but not as
outputs.
I couldn't find this discussed so not sure if this is a known limitation.

Hello, friends of QGIS.

Since a couple of days I am trying to solve a problem I got with the
GRASS modules provided in the processing toolbox of QGIS 2.99 (latest
download today). After downloading the latest 2.99 version I got an
error message when I open a GRASS module. It's like this:

GRASS 7.2.2 is installed (the settings menu shows:
C:/OSGeo4W64/apps/grass/grass-7.2.2) and the GRASS 7.2.2 plugin is
working fine. My Windows system: Windows 10 Professional, 64-Bit.

Btw.: with the QGIS version I had used before I downloaded the above
mentioned version (as far as I remember I installed the previous version
sometime in November or December 2017) the GRASS modules did work fine.

Does anybody get an idea what is going wrong?

Sounds like a classic intersect, did you try that already?
You get the combination of the two layers, if you have overlapping
polygons with different geometries, then all boundaries are kept and the
new polygons are bound by them (likely to be more than in each layer due
to combinations).
Attributes of both layers are appended.

If you get errors due to invalid geometries, well, then correct that
beforehand.

Re: [Qgis-user] script filegdb to spatial lite

2017-11-08 Thread Martin Bain
Matt,
Have a look into the ogr2ogr.exe which is installed with QGIS.

It’s a command line program that converts formats. You could make a batch
script to get the data you want one layer at a time into a single spatialite
db. I’m afraid you got a bit of work to do to figure out the options for your
input and output formats.

Here’s a sample I found on my hard drive that I did some time ago to get data
from a SQL Server table into Spatialite, to give you an idea of what’s
involved. I don’t remember what all options are :P

C:\OSGeo4W\bin\ogr2ogr.exe -f SQlite "C:\output7.sqlite"
"MSSQL:server=;database=;trusted_connection=yes;" -sql "SELECT * FROM
lOT" -a_srs "EPSG:28356" -dsco SPATIALITE=yes -nln "LOT" -nlt PROMOTE_TO_MULTI
-geomfield SP_GEOMETRY –append

Good luck.

Hi QGISers,
I'm working from a corporate dataset, mostly geodatabases located on a network
drive.
I'd like to make a portable version of the datasets that I use that's updated
either automaticaly, or whenever I run a script.
I'm not 100% sure how spatialite works. Is everything in a single file
database? I'd like to just create a script only grabbing the data I specify
from the network drive and save that locally.
I don't do the database updating so it's only a one way process.

Has anyone done something like this? are there shortcuts?

Thanks

[Qgis-user] spatial-temporal data vizualization

Hi,

I am interested at plugins for visualization of spatial temporal data. I found

TimeManager
Temporal/Spectral Profile Tool
Multitemporal and Multivariate data visualisation (only available for QGIS 1.x)

None of them fully meet basic requirements:

1) map canvas + graph view (scatterplot)
2) time slider allowing to define monitoring period (from to)

Map canvas + graph view linked to spatial-temporal dataset (eg. TGRASS [1]).

Are there any other related plugins available?

Thanks, Martin

Re: [Qgis-user] Linking coordinates between layers

2017-10-12 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Simon,
One way would be to add the line layer as a virtual layer with the query text:

SELECT make_line(A.geometry,B.geometry) AS geom,
st_distance(A.geometry,B.geometry) AS dist
FROM LayerA AS A, LayerB AS B

Just substitute LayerA and LayerB with the names of your layers.

This would create a dynamic layer with one attribute "dist" - the distance
between the points, and the geometry would be a line connecting the two points.
Whenever you move a point the line layer will update, if you labelled the line
layer with the distance attribute, the label position and text would also
update.

It gets quite funky if you have multiple points in each layer - there are lines
drawn between all points. If there are m points in layer A and n points in
layer B there will be m*n points in the dynamic layer (a "cross join" in SQL
parlance). I imagine performance would be dreadful on layers with many points
- but not an issue for your use case.

Cheers,
Martin.

Re: [Qgis-user] Point Fill Polygon

2017-10-08 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Tyler,
Good question. I couldn’t see how to do it with a “Point Pattern Fill”

But you could do it with a “Geometry Generator” style and a custom function.

Here’s a custom function I wrote to generate a grid of points from the feature
polygon’s bounding box.

It intersects the point grid with the polygon to return a multipoint object of
all the points within the polygon.

Define new functions using @qgsfunction. feature and parent must always be the

from qgis.gui import *

Hi;
In a point/symbol fill polygon is there anyway to allow the point/svg symbol to
extrude over the polygon border and not be cut off. Or only show symbols that
are completely contained by the polygon? The polygon is only a rough area of
forest and I am trying to fill it with little tree triangles but I don't want
symbol slivers at the polygon edge.

[Qgis-user] Station lines determined by point layer

2017-09-29 Thread Martin
Hi,

I have a layer that contains a number of lines and another layer that contains
points at various locations along those lines. I want to draw station lines
across the line next to the point and I also want to add the angle of the
station line to the point in the point layer so that I can rotate an icon.

I have considered using the station lines plugin as the basis for a new plugin
but I wondered if someone had already done this or got part of the way there.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks for any help

Martin

Would it be an idea to (sorry dialog haters) have a summary/confirmation
dialog in between this action? Telling the user that 'this file/table

In this case, it would also have made it possible to stop this overwrite

I don't think it's a good design: if the result of the action is reversible a
confirm dialog is unnecessary, and we are trying to elminate all unnecessary
modals.
I'd stick to the confirm dialog for all potentially destructive actions.

I recommend to follow the new geopackage implementation behavior:
- if the drop is on self: abort
- if the drop overrides an existing table: confirm
- if the drop does not override and hence creates a new table: notify on
success or error

If you've done a wrong drop, you can easily delete the imported layer (at least
now it's implemented for geopackage and all ogr/gdal, provided it's supported
by the gdal/ogr provider)

[Qgis-user] Browser Panel Import

2017-09-05 Thread Martin Bain
Hi List,
I just discovered a brutal feature of the Browser Panel.

When browsing SQL Server if you happen to click and drag on a table then when
you release the mouse button a dialog box will pop up saying "Import Competed".

The table under the cursor when mouse button is released gets overwritten with
an empty table, without any sort of prompt!

Within SQL Server I have now revoked DDL permissions from the user that did
this (and myself).

But was wondering, Is there a way to prevent or modify this behaviour in QGIS?

Thanks,
Martin.

How do you insert mapped structural symbols into a plan?
These have a compass orientation & inclination direction.
These can be any orientation but I cannot see how you can have in one layer.
Only close success I have had putting single symbols in a layer, must be a
better way.

Re: [Qgis-user] Mini dump when adding SQL layers QGIS 2.18.8

2017-06-25 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Johanna,
2.18.8 was quickly replaced by 2.18.9 I think it had some issues - I don't know
if any of them relate to your problem.

Are you adding the layers from the browser window or the add layer menu?

Are you using a named ODBC DSN or putting the SQL Server Host details directly
into QGIS? I had mini dumps when I was using named ODBC connections.

I'm afraid the only thing I can suggest, if you haven't already tried, is to
try switching the way you are connecting and adding the layers.

Cheers,
Martin.

Re: [Qgis-user] Joining polylines with overlapping points to 1 polyline with merged points

2017-06-14 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Jens,
I guess there is more than one way to combine your lines into a single object –
you could end up with a multipart object (multilinestring) or a single polyline.

Have you tried the Dissolve command? I quick test for me produced a single
polyline with no duplicate points from two separate lines.
Cheers,
Martin.

with merged points

I have a walking route, that I've digitized in 18 polylines, of which the
endpoint is the exact same location as the beginning point of the next polyline.

When I merge these 18 polylines, the overlapping points stay, unfortunately,
overlapping points. Visually there's no problem: they behave as 1 polyline, but
... this causes all sorts of problems:
-- exporting to gpx gives faulty routes
-- combining these polylines to a polygon gives polygon rubbish
-- double (or even more) points stay, although I want them to be joined to one
point
-- tracing always stops when I reach the end or beginning of a polyline part

How can this be solved?

The only thing that actually worked for me is to make a new layer/shapefile
("traced.shp") and then manually trace the polylines (using the autotrace). In
Mapinfo this operation is way much more efficient.

So I'm looking for a way to make 1 polyline with non-overlapping points out of
a series of polylines in Qgis.

Well - there's this half finished commit I wrote but never merged:
https://github.com/nyalldawson/QGIS/commit/2405c9cc2c9d07bd0975d60ce36db5c5e8d8b612

I can't remember exactly why I didn't complete this. I think it was written
during feature freeze once and I never got around to verifying that it didn't
cause regressions in the rendering speed after freeze was lifted. From memory
it worked well for info tool and rotate point symbol tool.

From the commit message:

"Register rendered point features into a spatial index so that we can later
retrieve features by their actual rendered location.
(The rendered location may be different in numerous circumstances, eg when
using the displacement renderer, or when marker symbols have an offset set)
This index could then be used to later retrieve the features for a specific
canvas coordinate, for use eg in identify tool, rotate point symbols, etc."

Theoretically this could be cleaned up, finished off and tested, and then later
extended to apply to selections also.

Re: [Qgis-user] Snapping: Move Features vs Node Tool

2017-05-31 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Randy,

I've come to accept that's just the way it is. It would be nice if the move
tool did snapping. I guess it might be tricky to implement - with the node
tool the cursor position and node being moved are one and the same, but with
the move tool that’s not always the case.

As an aside are you using the wonderful CAD Node Tool plugin,
https://github.com/qgis/QGIS-Enhancement-Proposals/issues/69 ? The built node
tool became quite sluggish for me after QGIS 2.8 for some reason. The plugin
is much more fluid and the best thing is it does topological editing across
layers. Its not perfect though - you can't select a sequence of nodes and move
them at the same time.

Cheers,
Martin.

A question.

In an attempt to help a client I'm doing some data cleanup - which is good. I
spend too much time talking and not enough doing. I need to snap points to the
endpoints of lines. If I set snapping up and use the move features tool the
point doesn't snap to the line. If I move the point using the node tool the
point snaps to the line.

I've been looking for an option or something to change. I'm not seeing one. Is
this expected behavior? To me it would make more sense for both tools to snap
data - but I may be missing something. If I add data, the data snaps as I would
expect it. The good people I'm helping immediately started moving data and it
didn't snap - and I've instructed them to use the node tool to make the edits.

QGIS 2.18.9 - Linux

Hi Karl-Magnus,

I think this is a good idea. It could either be a separate selection mode (we
already have different modes for selection on the drop-down button) or it could
be toggled with a keyboard combination on the existing "click" mode. Can you
open a feature request at https://issues.qgis.org/<http://issues.qgis.org/> ?

Greetings,

Andreas

Hi!
When talking about this. I've had a thought of improvement of the select tool.
When there is several features in the same (or almost the same) location in one
layer it is difficult to select one particular feature. Could we have the same
functionality with select tool as with identify? Right click gets you a
pull-down menu with potential features and you can select one from the list
that gets selected. Understandable? Has this already been thought of? A
workaround is to use the identify tool with right click. At the bottom of the
list you can open the attribute table and select the desired features from the
table. Works but one step more.

Hi Martin,

As far as I know, picking is totally independent of the rendering. So the "Info
tool" doesn't know about the displacement renderer. I know it is not ideal, but
it is a technical limitation and there are no known workarounds.

You can, however, display the central point (with a separate symbol) so the
user knows where to pick. Also, you can easily access each individual point by
changing the identify mode to "Layer choice" - where you get a pull-down menu
and you can identify each individual point by its "display attribute".

Maybe a dev knows a solution to this problem - but currently I think there are
no known workarounds.

I'm using the Point Displacement renderer to overcome having overlapping

However if you want to use the info tool or the select tool you cant click on
the displaced symbol. You can only select all points via the central point.

Is there a trick to select a point by its offset symbol instead of the true
coordinates? I have half a memory of reading something about this once before
but maybe I imagined it :P

I would prefer to leave the points in their original position – the data is of
traffic accidents, provided by the state government.

Thank you,

Re: [Qgis-user] Creating Excel from processing toolbox

2017-04-26 Thread Martin Bain
Hi Pat,
Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the processing toolbox
contains the OGR Convert format algorithm. The output formats include CSV and
XLSX.
Cheers,
Martin.

Hello

i am writing an own script for processing toolbox and would like
to write my final data to an Excel sheet.

There are several libraries outside for Python to do that but from
your point of view what is the best for?
Or is there already on in QGIS i am not aware of? I refer to an
Excel library to use within of Python.
QGIS itself has it already as i know

thank you

pat
