Re: [qmailadmin] need help

2007-07-05 Thread Kenny Lee
Hi,

i think you should provide more detail for us ... example ... like how you
installed your qmail, vpopmail, & qmailadmin

you can try to visit below web address, from there, you can learn more and
understand how people work up their system ... which included SSL, apache,
qmail, vpopmail, qmailadmin, courier imap, squirrelmail, clamv, spamassassin, &
qmail-scanner. Of coz ... that website only designed for OLD Redhat, but anyway
from there you can get more information regarding the programs you wish to
install.

for qmailadmin & vpopmail, you should go through very clear with their own
README file ... understand the steps first b4 you start your installation. If i
was not wrong, b4 install vpopmail & qmailadmin, you need to do some settings
first and install some related small programs to support them.

Hey, and are you sure you are typing the right one or did you forget it?
If you have qmail vpopmail configured with plain password, you can
access the database and see the postmaster password.

2006-09-15 Thread Kenny Lee
Hi,     I am Kenny from Malaysia, i have done all the installation needed by qmailadmin, the installation of qmailadmin was no error message there ... then after that i created a new domain name and new user by using /home/vpopmail/bin/vadddomain and /home/vpopmail/bin/vadduser, and user able to receive mail and send mail. But the problem is here ... when i wan to use qmailadmin to login for user "postmaster" for the domain, it popup "Invalid Login" error msg, then i goto /home/vpopmail/bin to change the password of postmaster, then try to login again, but also same error msg. So what is the problem here? is it my qmailadmin link to wrong location? but all software like vpopmail, autorepsond and ezmlm installed in default folder ... when i ran the ./configure of qmailadmin .. and no error there ...     qmailadmin - 1.2.9 vpopmail - 5.4.17 i am using Redhat

I'm sure u install qmail and vpopmail with ports, have you!?

i installed all from source file and what i did was enabled ezmlmdir
option.

"--enable-ezmlmdir=/your/path"

it's easy to install from ports, but from source file u can define more
clearly.

[qmailadmin] need help with an ato-login process

2005-11-10 Thread Joseph Lundgren
Greetings,

I've been trying to make an external link from our Plesk server farm
automatically login to the qmailadmin utility. The URL I've been trying
to use includes all of the POST variables that I would think I'd need,
but it's giving me an error:

"Only one person can log in as system postmaster at one time. Someone
else has logged in. Please only have one login at a time."

The URL is:

http://mail.domain.com/qmailadmin/index.cgi/com/showmenu?user=postmaster
&dom=domain.com&password=password&

Do you folks know any way to have a user enter a URL that will log the
user in to the qmailadmin application without them having to enter any
further authentication credentials?

Is the domain owned by vpopmail?
What is the line for the domain in the /var/qmail/users/assign file?
what version of vpopmail?
what version of qmailadmin?
What are the permissions on the qmailadmin binary?
Can you change the password of the postmaster?

I assume you mean 'using vpopmail with the mysql backend'. If so, make
sure you compile and install qmailadmin AFTER you compile and install
vpopmail. If you've done that, QmailAdmin should be linked to the
correct libvpopmail and will access your domain data in MySQL.

Do you have multiple copies of vpopmail installed? It sounds like
QmailAdmin is linking to an old libvpopmail that was compiled to use
CDB instead of MySQL.

Yes, but I can't find that function in the qmailadmin source. I'ts probably
included somewhere but I don't know where to look (vpopmail headers?).

[qmailadmin] 1.0.6 help "/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lmysqlclient"

2003-09-04 Thread Matt Winer

When I run the MAKE it gets to this line:

gcc  -g -O2

qmailadmin.o alias.o
autorespond.o forward.o mailinglist.o user.o util.o auth.o template.o
command.o show.o cgi.o limits.o dotqmail.o -L/var/vpopmail/lib -lvpopmail -L/usr/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient -lz -lnsl -lm –lcrypt

then I get:

/usr/bin/ld:
cannot find -lmysqlclient

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

make[2]: *** [qmailadmin] Error 1

I am not sure what the error means or how to go about fixing
it.

Thank you for your help!

At this poing to only way to get the Delivered-To: and
Return-Path: headers is to use preline.

The problem with "preline" as supplied with qmail. Is that it puts this
in
the header of the email: "Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]"

If the 2 headers can be made available without using preline then that
fixes the "preline" problem.

My .qmail-default actually looks like:

This has been working quite well for a couple months now.

Yes? :) I don't think it should go with vpopmail because it's not a
POP3/POP3S thing. This is an add-on feature, really, and as such belongs
with a companion product like qmailadmin. That being said, if we make the
migration away from compiled CGI, or at least create options to do an
SSL-wrapped call to the CGI in order to authenticate and add a user, this
would be very useful. For me, it all comes down to automation that will
allow customers to self-provision. Given the current ongoing economic
climate (cold and stormy), I'm looking for ways to keep overhead and
headcount low while still maintaining a high quality of service for my
customers, including adding new features upon demand, such as spam
filtering.

Yeah, I looked at another PHP-based interface initially (don't recall what
it was called or where it was), which spurred me to have one of our
developers rip this plugin out instead. All it does is allows someone to
select from a range of pre-set required_hits values (Severe, High, Medium,
Low, None) and then add whitelist_from and blacklist_from entries for users
or domains.

I didn't think it was needed either -- that it was just for mbox

Heretic! j/k Actually, I think that what this simply means is that we
collect functional, efficient methods for a few of the popular programs,
like procmail and maildrop, and then break it into different configure flag
paths, such as --enable-procmail-sa or --enable-maildrop-sa, or vice-versa,
and so on.

My systems are generally much more stressed-out by the
qmail-scanner/clamscan calls than by the spamc/spamd calls. I look forward
to the day when clamdmail matures beyond alpha code so that I can drop
qmail-scanner and all those nasty PERL calls. But that's OT and a diff.
issue... :)

There's no reason for qmailadmin to modify the mailfilter file. There
exists a way to make a mailfilter that does not ever need to be
modified. Plus, there are some people out there probably who are using
procmail or some other filtering program and not just maildrop.

I would recommend you set qmailadmin to allow the use to set one of the
following toggle:

1. No spam filtering
2. Only Tag the spam do nothing else for POP3 users.
3. Filter the spam into a spam folder which means you need IMAP to get
to it.
4. Delete all mail tagged as spam

It could look like this:

Spam filter setup:
Email_Account Nothing Tag_only Filter DeleteConfiguer
bob OOX O [config]
dave OXO O [config]
dale OOO X [config]

The [config] button here would edit the users ".spamassassin/user_prefs"
file something like:
http://www.yrex.com/spam/spamconfig.php

Hope this happens,

I see... qmailadmin does not handle automated things like that-that I
know of. But wrapping vadduser around a script to create the .qmail
file with the necessary filter would be fairly simple as well... *shrug*
(of course, that would still be outside of qmailadmin)
Yes, I could, but why should I if my current setup works? The only thing I
end up breaking is the ability to change the catchall settings through
qmailadmin right now, which is ok today. However, there's also the point
that I have already trained my users to update their SA preferences through
my SquirrelMail plugin, not through qmailadmin, and it would not be helpful
or wise to tell them to go use something different now.
That's agreeable, but all the setting in qmailadmin does right now is
turn on or off spam filtering. It doesn't change the preferences, so
they'd still have to use your SquirrelMail plugin for that (at least,
for the near future).

So anyway, back to the original topic of why I avoided using
.qmail-default: It allows for a global mailfilter script that doesn't
break functionality of qmailadmin (with regard to catchall, etc) and
that works in all situations.

Ok dokey, here goes...for my standard install w/o catchall I am doing (this
allows me to short-circuit the script if the account doesn't exist):
DUMMY=`test -d $VHOME/Maildir`
if ( $RETURNCODE == 1 )
{
echo "Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)"
   EXITCODE=100
   exit
}

So, I just modified that check as follows:
DUMMY=`test -d $VHOME/Maildir`
if ( $RETURNCODE == 1 )
{
   to "! [EMAIL PROTECTED]"
   exit
}

Obviously you should modify the catchall account as needed. Now, I could
(and maybe should) modify my non-catchall script so that, if the account
does not exist, just send it to vdelivermail with the to directive, and let
vdelivermail bounce it. Either way, it gets the job done. BTW, it took a
lot of research, but I finally learned that by putting the ! in front of the
address is equivalent to forwarding the message, meaning you can use _any_
email account on that line.

The patch that I was creating will not be finished as that QmailAdmin 1.0.22
has the code I needed.
it adds to .qmail-default the "preline maildrop mailfilter" bit.

Hello everybody -- I would like to pick up the pieces of this patch
project and make it happen (if possible). What is the furthest anybody
has come with this?

Just to recap:

The community wants SpamAssassin integration in QmailAdmin. We need the
ability to apply SpamAssassin processing to incoming email on a
per-domain or per-account basis. Forwards and aliases should work,
where applicable. This means mangling the .qmail-default file (per
domain) and individual users .qmail files (per user). The system should
also support enabling/disabling this feature via a .qmailadmin-limits
directive and provide some way for each admin to specify the path to the
filter.

Please respond ASAP on this if you have any information as I'd like to
get working today.

Derek

PS -- what are the chances of this making it into the main QmailAdmin
tree if success is achieved?

Joseph Young wrote:

I have qmailadmin to show a check box that is checked if there is the
line,"enable_spamassassin", to .qmailadmin-limits. So the next step is to
have in user.c to add the line,"|/var/qmail/bin/preline
/usr/local/bin/maildrop /home/vpopmail/etc/mailfilter", in the user's .qmail
when it when user selects it.

I need help in writing the code to modusergo() in user.c to check .qmail and
to write to .qmail.

I see... qmailadmin does not handle automated things like that-that I
know of. But wrapping vadduser around a script to create the .qmail

(of course, that would still be outside of qmailadmin)

RE: [qmailadmin] Help with code! SpamAssassin integration

2003-07-08 Thread Benjamin Tomhave
Please don't get offended, I think what you're doing is great, but I think a
big step was missing from the process, that of collection of
requirements/features desired. I would imagine there are dozens of ways
that people are implementing SA, some of which are good and others which are
cludgey and nasty. I think it would be nice to gather information on these
various methods and then settle on 1-2 ways to support this through
qmailadmin. For instance, if enabling spam filtering for an entire domain
by default were as simple as setting a value in the limits file, then cool,
as long as my users can then also update their SA preferences which I
current store in a SQL db. I do, however, already have a small plugin for
my SquirrelMail webmail interface that customers use to modify their SA
preferences (required_hits, blacklist_from, whitelist_from). If we all
compare notes on current implementation techniques, we can probably very
easily refine them down to a couple solid techniques that can then be
thoroughly supported through qmailadmin.

The development has already begun and announced on this list. SA integration (IMHO)
is something the community wants, I want, and is truly needed. This project was
started due to the many shortcomings of the Qmailadmin install process and (mainly)
the interface.

If the community doesn't like what I'll be offering, so be it, but I will be
offering this to my customers in leiu of Qmailadmin since my server setup will
always be the same. :)

That being said, I agree that we need to know where the Qmailadmin/Vpopmail w/ MySQL
coding/configuration is going so that we can develop accordingly. Of course, I'm
more interested in the development of Vpopmail since I'm essentially coding a PHP
replacement for Qmailadmin. :)

Does anybody have an objection to a new line in .qmailadmin-limits that
toggles the ability to spam filter on a per-domain basis? Is this
something that I should code myself, or would the main developers prefer
a 'Feature Request"?

This thread explains why we left it as a Maildir.

Luckily, the next version of vpopmail should process the user's .qmail
file when the Maildir is set as a catchall, solving that issue.

Why is changing the .qmail-default file a bad thing? Why not setup

spam-filtering on a per-user basis? I want spam filtering on by

and I can't really accomplish that with per-user enable/disable without
modifying account creation processes, which would be a pain.
Here's something to keep in mind when changing .qmail-default. It's
something I didn't realize for quite some time.

When delivering mail to say [EMAIL PROTECTED], qmail will use
domains/domain.com/.qmail-user if it exists, and .qmail-default (and
thus vdelivermail) won't be called at all.

In QmailAdmin 1.0.21, we stopped using aliases and replaced them with
forwards, so instead of having qmail drop the message in a Maildir
(without any processing of that user's .qmail file), it will get
redelivered. So, if .qmail-user contains "&[EMAIL PROTECTED]", it will
be requeued and qmail will use .qmail-default (and vdelivermail) since
there isn't a domain.com/.qmail-user2 file to process.

(When I refer to qmail above, I guess I really mean qmail-local, the
program responsible for local deliveries.)

vdelivermail was designed to check for a user directory, process its
.qmail file (if present) and deliver the message to the Maildir. In an
earlier release of qmailadmin, we had attempted to use vdelivermail in
a user's .qmail file to blackhole messages (which was a very bad idea,
since it would start another instance of vdelivermail that would
process the .qmail file and result in an infinite loop).

We've since fixed that problem by not calling vdelivermail. We can't
use a "#" in the .qmail file because current versions of vdelivermail
can't handle comments in .qmail files. Ken will release a version of
vdelivermail (that does handle comments) in vpopmail 5.3.21 any day now
(he promised it would be out last Friday).

Now, in a way, this delivery system is good. qmail-local will handle
mailing lists, auto-responders and aliases without touching
.qmail-default, so the only time .qmail-default is called is when it's
for a user on the system. Having SpamAssassin processing be a part of
.qmail-default would be OK then.

I think Jeff Hedlund has done some great work with setting up
QmailAdmin to have spam processing take place in the user's .qmail
file, and give the user control of turning it on or off. On my system,
I've been using qmail-spamc (part of the SpamAssassin distribution) as
a pre-processor to qmail-queue and have been very happy with it. Other
users might like to integrate SA into their .qmail-default file.

I'd really like to see these systems working toward using per-user
prefs stored in MySQL (see
 for more information
on that feature) and eventually adding an interface as an extension to
the modify user page where users can update their personal settings
(adding addresses to a whitelist or blacklist would be a good start).

Luckily, the next version of vpopmail should process the user's .qmail

The reason I chose to move away from using the .qmail-default file is
because you won't always get the correct username. If you are not using
per-user preferences, then it wouldn't matter.
So it's not a matter of being a bad thing, just doesn't cover all the bases.

Why not setup
filtering for the whole domain in one move rather than having to setup
spam-filtering on a per-user basis?
I want spam filtering on by default,
and I can't really accomplish that with per-user enable/disable without
modifying account creation processes, which would be a pain.
It is easy to modify qmailadmin to default spam filter to on. When
creating an account, you just want the spam filtering checkbox in the
checked state, which is a matter of modifying the template.

Most of this is already in qmailadmin as of version 1.0.21.

Otherwise, per-user spam filtering is available via a checkbox.

Just a correction for you: aliases are foobar, only use forwards, otherwise

Hello everybody -- I would like to pick up the pieces of this patch
project and make it happen (if possible). What is the furthest anybody
has come with this?

Just to recap:

The community wants SpamAssassin integration in QmailAdmin. We need the
ability to apply SpamAssassin processing to incoming email on a
per-domain or per-account basis. Forwards and aliases should work,
where applicable. This means mangling the .qmail-default file (per
domain) and individual users .qmail files (per user). The system should
also support enabling/disabling this feature via a .qmailadmin-limits
directive and provide some way for each admin to specify the path to the
filter.

Please respond ASAP on this if you have any information as I'd like to
get working today.

Derek

PS -- what are the chances of this making it into the main QmailAdmin
tree if success is achieved?

Joseph Young wrote:

I have qmailadmin to show a check box that is checked if there is the
line,"enable_spamassassin", to .qmailadmin-limits. So the next step is to
have in user.c to add the line,"|/var/qmail/bin/preline
/usr/local/bin/maildrop /home/vpopmail/etc/mailfilter", in the user's .qmail
when it when user selects it.
I need help in writing the code to modusergo() in user.c to check .qmail and
to write to .qmail.

[qmailadmin] Help with default set-up parameters on domains

2003-06-11 Thread Free Grafton
Title: Help with default set-up parameters on domains

Hello,
I could use some expert advise. We set up many domains for our customers using a command line /path/to/vadddomain new_domain.com

After setting up the new domain, I manually copy a file into their vpopmail directory called .qmail_limits which prevents them from creating mailing lists and limits their email accounts to 50.
Is there a way I can have this file automatically created when I run the new domain command to save myself a step?

Thanks for the help.
