I believe that's the standard with the new distros now. I don't think
I added anything specific in for that, but I'm not in front of my
regular computer to check.

The newer distros look like they are adding this. I did not add anything

I guess that shouldn't effect dependencies now that I think about it.
Easy enough to fix the script.

Can you tell me what directories exist in /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/ on a
x86_64 machine? I'm figuring on simply stripping that off of the end of
any installed packages to determine the version number. Seemed to work
for .i386.

As long as you're using qmail for your transport agent, the answer is no.

The spamdyke setting is for max recipients in a single smtp session.
qmail always sends an email to each recipient individually. This is less
efficient bandwidth-wise, but is avoids the problem that occurs when
some addresses in a group are undeliverable, while others are ok. Sorta
tough to tell the client which ones are undeliverable in that case,
which is why qmail does what it does.

your answer is here:

http://lifewithqmail.org/lwq.html#multi-rcpt

this is, in fact, one of the primary reasons to make it easy for your
users to set up their own email lists rather than just jamming a ton
of addresses into the To: field.

Please check it out and let me know. The quickie patch I put into
qtp-config strips off .i386 and .x86_64 from the tail end of the

to work. I'm guessing that perhaps it needs to strip off whatever
directory names are in the $BUILDDIR/RPMS/ directory, which would be a
more universal fix.

Thanks.

Well. I should learn to listen to my gut, and I should always remember what

Thanks for the responses, gents. I ended up implementing a split-DNS, and
that resolved my issues.

qmailtoaster is awesome. Thanks for all the fantastic bells & whistles!

External IPs are mapped 1:1 with RFC1918 IPs by my hosting provider (ie:

I'm wondering if DNS is getting confused by the questions, or if qmail is

So I'm setting up bind in a split-view mode, and will see if that makes a

That said, I appreciate the response, and any others are welcome. :D

Your fix seems to work.
from qtp-newmodel:

daemontools-toaster-0.76-1.3.3.i386 is installed.
Do you want to Upgrade daemontools-toaster to version 0.76-1.3.6

So without doing a full run it seems to work, or at least doesn't produce
the same error ;)
Ill do a full update tommow when i have a bit more time, cause iv got a
fealing the update may take some time.
Sorry for not having the time right now.

The script shouldn't have ended with the error that it did. It should
have detected that you weren't current.

Can you describe what the state of your system was? Such as

Was kernel-devel installed at all? If so, which version(s)?
Which version(s) of the kernel were installed?
Which version of the kernel was running when the error occurred?
What did you do to fix it?

If there's a bug in the script we'd like to fix it. ;)

You're correct. I didn't understand the situation entirely.

Have you been able to verify with spamcop that this is what's happening?

I wonder if spamcop uses SPF or DKIM for their spamcop traps. Might that
help this sort of thing?

You've come to the right place. ;)
Looks like a bug. I don't expect that anyone has run qtp-newmodel on
FC10 yet.

The .i386 shouldn't be part of the installed package name. This is
causing the compare_versions routine in qtp-config to choke.

Hey Jake, since when did the arch become part of the package name

I've modified qtp-config (attached) to work around this anomaly (that
Jake appears to have introduced in the FC10 version that you've
installed). Please test it for me by putting it in
/opt/qmailtoaster-plus/bin/, check the ownership and permissions (should
be the same as all others there), and try running qtp-newmodel once more.

Thanks for you help with fixing this.

All would be good if instead of supposing I have all requisites up to date,
I should have make myself sure of that.

After updating kernel and kernel-devel sandbox is building...

Lets see if it finishes with no errors...

Hi,

of qmailtoaster.

All went well until I tried to update the server using qtp-menu and newmodel
script

>From /var/log/aufs-build.log I get this:

Probably the easy way would be reinstall it all over…

Any hint? I’d appreciate that.
Thank you,

My conclusion is that somebody has just forged an email from, sent it

it.

Of course I cannot know for sure. It would be nice to be able to query
from SpamCop from what address was the trap triggered, but that is not

If it is the autoresponder causing the trouble, then I guess I have to
disable it. How do I do that with qmailtoaster?

Is SNAT on this banned server?
Maybe one of intranet computers is infected. You can use SMTP
Transparent proxy http://smtp-proxy.klolik.org/ to block infected
workstations. Works for me. :)

Re: [qmailtoaster] How to remove qmail-toaster completely from server

2009-07-07 Thread Eric Shubert

The CentOS5 ISO is available for a modest fee. Money well spent IMHO.

Alternatively, you install COS4, then upgrade to COS5. That's a bit
tricky, but should work. Takes some time as well.

RE: [qmailtoaster] qtp-build-unionfs failed

Yes I thought it would check and update/upgrade as it needed...
But no, the kernel and kernel-devel do not upgrade, and the script seeks for
the path but as it can't find it stops there with that error.

I already updated the packages, and the update script is still running.
Seems stuck in:

+ rm -f /var/tmp/vqadmin-2.3.4-gcc
+ exit 0
Executing(--clean): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.32004
+ umask 022
+ cd /usr/src/redhat/BUILD
+ rm -rf vqadmin-2.3.4
+ exit 0
Installing vqadmin-toaster-2.3.4-1.3.6 in the sandbox ...
Preparing...
##
vqadmin-toaster
##

I'll give it the pizza time :-)

Do you have the kernel-devel package installed for the kernel that's
currently running?

Please explain your status and how you got there. The qtp-newmodel
script usually checks for this dependency and installs the kernel-devel
package. I'd like to get the script fixed if there's a bug in it. I
think there's possible something missing there though, like a reboot
perhaps?

[qmailtoaster] Block backscatter with spamdyke

2009-07-07 Thread Eric Shubert
Here's a tip from David Stiller on the spamdyke list. In order to stop
receiving backscatter and any email with forged headers:

blacklist all local domains. If you force
SMTP-Auth Logins, they should be able to send anyway, as the
authorization succeeds and all filters are bypassed.

Add your local domains to your /etc/spamdyke/blacklist_senders file in
the form of:

@localdomain.com

Would someone care to add this to the wiki Tips & Tricks? Thanks.

All would be good if instead of supposing I have all requisites up to date,
