[qmailtoaster] ClamAV Unofficial Virus

2011-03-04 Thread Amit
Hi Everyone,

Don't know whether anyone got error or not but today suddenly many of the
attachment mails started getting bounced with below error:

Technical details of permanent failure:

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient
domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further
information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server
returned was: 554 554 Your email was rejected because it contains the
MBL_144360.UNOFFICIAL virus (state 18).

General attachments for which users are getting mail bounce are like .doc,
.xls, .dat, .ppt.

Mails are getting bounced for both incoming and outgoing mails.

inbound (checking) area. Someone (I'm sorry I don't remember the name)
spent some time on it a couple years ago, and ran out of time fixing
the outbound portion.

I recommend removing all DK* variables in the tcp.smtp file, except
for DKSIGN. I believe DKSIGN works ok (I have it configured), but I
wouldn't bet my life on it.

I believe DKIM is preferred (a successor to DK). I haven't used it
yet, but I believe Jake and Amit have implemented DKIM successfully. See
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/How_to_Setup_DKIM_with_Qmail_Toaster

I don't know how well DK and DKIM play together, but if I implemented
DKIM, I would disable DK entirely, either by removing DKSIGN in
tcp.smtp, or (better) change the /var/qmail/bin/qmail-queue symlink to
point to qmail-queue.orig instead of qmail-dk.

It appears to me that this DKIM implementation is for outbound only.
I'm not aware of any implementation of inbound checking of DK (which
works reliably) or DKIM for QMT. It'd be nice if someone would come up
with a DKIM checking patch of some sort.

although I have followed the steps but somehow I failed to implement
dkim on server with following errors,

That's correct. UNOFFICIAL items are from sanesecurity.

There are related posts on the sanesecurity email list. The problem is
reportedly coming from the malwarepatrol (MBL) blocklist. Steve Basford
has added a whitelist entry to circumvent the problem, so it should
clear itself automatically (as of 09:00 GMT today).

I don't know what the permanent fix will be, but I suspect that MBL will
be removed, as it appears to be somewhat dead.

See the sanesecurity email list for details.

[qmailtoaster] Re: dovecot upgrade

2011-03-04 Thread Eric Shubert
I built 2.0.9 on 64 bit yesterday. Used the spec from Fedora14 updates
repo. I did have a few hurdles, but I got over them all. Big one is that
vpopmail needs to be installed (as there's no -devel pkg) in order to
build dovecot with vpopmail support. Then, since I was building as a
normal user (as should be done), the permissions on /home/vpopmail and
bin/libvpopmail.a prohibited the build from finding things. Once I had
read capability, it built ok. Also had a problem with Pigeonhole, but
ATrpms had the solution. Completed x86_64 build yesterday, and hope to
have i686 done soon. My devel/test infrastructure is giving me a few
fits this week though. :( I'll be posting rpms to the qtp repo when
they're done (not necessarily tested).

 Hey Finn,

My test system is running CentOS 5.5. I didn't seem to have any problems
compiling. The compile (make) did not error out.
It is also up to date.
I did 'make' dovecot-2.0.9 again to examine the output and found no
errors, just warnings.
Here's what I did on my test machine...
# cd /my/dovecot/dir/dovecot-2.0.9
# make clean
# make

These are the warnings I got when I ran 'make.'

The link is clickable and be sent to ant web location.

This is not a plea for all qmailers to download what I have linked, but
you can if you wish.

I will finish writing the howto and get it in the wiki.

Yes you can post links - just be aware they are archives on the public
 searchable repository for this list.

Hi Nigel.

Currently I start dovecot at system boot (init) - if it fails during

[qmailtoaster] Re: dovecot upgrade

2011-03-04 Thread Eric Shubert
I had a little difficulty with keeping dovecot up at first. It's very
sensitive to time, and I'm running VMs. I think I got the time situation
under control, but I keep this script running as a cron job every minute
just in case:

[root@tacs-mail ~]# cat /usr/local/bin/monitor_dovecot
#!/bin/sh
# check if dovecot's running, and start it if it's not
# shubes - 20090206 - created
service dovecot status /dev/null 21 || \
service dovecot start /dev/null 21

As you can see, I'm not using supervise for dovecot. I'm not sure
there's really a good reason to do so. (when in Rome...)

vqadmin has a problem with creating domains, which might be your
problem. Please delete users and domain(s), then use qcontrol (or CLI
and /home/vpopmail/bin/ commands) to create domain(s) and users. Do NOT
use vqadmin to update anything. It's ok for inquiries though.

Yep. I think the rpm does that automagically.

If so, what does you /etc/rc.d/init.d/dovecot file look like? And, as a
consequence, I suppose, I would remove /var/qmail/supervise/dovecot/run

Right. Let me get the 2.0.9 rpm installed, and I'll get you the init
script for it.

How do you implement the logging mechanism, through qmailctl and
/var/qmail/supervise/dovecot/log/run ?

No, I just use the 'stock' logging. /var/log/dovecot.log, with logrotate
(config for which is in the rpm).

As you can see, I'm not using supervise for dovecot. I'm not sure
there's really a good reason to do so. (when in Rome...)

Oh! And, are there any advantages to starting in another way?

-

I just prefer being consistent with CentOS (and the rest of the world)
rather than using DJB's stuff. ;)

FWIW, the whole init script 'structure' will be changing with COS6, for
the better. System V init is being replaced with Upstart, which was
originally developed for Ubuntu (debian is switching as well). In
addition, sysklogd is being replace with rsyslog. BL, I think it'd be
prudent if QMT were to move in these directions as well. Perhaps v3?

[qmailtoaster] Fwd: [Dovecot] v2.0.10 released

2011-03-04 Thread Eric Broch
And as soon as v2.0.9 is ready...it goes on... ;-)

 Original Message
Subject:[Dovecot] v2.0.10 released

http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.10.tar.gz
http://dovecot.org/releases/2.0/dovecot-2.0.10.tar.gz.sig

I thought it was finally time to make a new v2.0 release. Or probably it
was a while ago already, but I've been a bit lazy this year. Maybe it's
because this is the first time in last 5 years when all branches of
Dovecot have been quite stable and I haven't been stressing on it. Of
course there are some v2.0 features that still have some bugs, but few
people are complaining about them.

v2.1 development branch also appears to be pretty good shape. I'm
hopeful that v2.1.rc1 will be out before summer.

* LMTP: For user+detail@domain deliveries, the +detail is again written
  to Delivered-To: header.
* Skip auth penalty checks from IPs in login_trusted_networks.

+ Added import_environment setting.
+ Added submission_host setting to send mails via SMTP instead of
  via sendmail binary.
+ Added doveadm acl get/set/delete commands for ACL manipulation,
similar to how IMAP ACL extension works.
+ Added doveadm acl debug command to help debug and fix problems
with why shared mailboxes aren't working as expected.
- IMAP: Fixed hangs with COMPRESS extension
- IMAP: Fixed a hang when trying to COPY to a nonexistent mailbox.
- IMAP: Fixed hang/crash with SEARCHRES + pipelining $.
- IMAP: Fixed assert-crash if IDLE+DONE is sent in same TCP packet.
- LMTP: Fixed sending multiple messages in a session.
- doveadm: Fixed giving parameters to mail commands.
- doveadm import: Settings weren't correctly used for the
  import storage.
- dsync: Fixed somewhat random failures with saving messages to
  remote dsync.
- v2.0.9: Config reload didn't notify running processes with
shutdown_clients=no, so they could have kept serving new clients
  with old settings.

Aww crud! I don't believe it!

I just downloaded 2.0.9 and have just got through testing it on Mandriva and
reporting back!

I had to change permissions on /home/vpopmail and
/home/vpopmail/lib/libvpopmail.a but otherwise, it worked pretty much out the
box.

So, what's the holdup? :D

This is so so so much earlier than courier-*.

Do you have an existing, .rpm file for dovecot? I'd like to maybe adapt it for
Mandrvia and submit patches, like I'm doing with the rest.

was
in relation to vpopmail so ignore me. If it's ready to go...where is it? Why
doesn't someone pull the trigger on it?

That said, what happens to the packages that require courier-imap?

maildrop-toaster requires courier-imap to build
control-panel-toaster requires courier-imap to install

Is there anything courier-imap specific in there or can we have them require
imap-server ?

Eric,

So, you create the file /etc/rc.d/init.d/dovecot, add it as a service
using 'chkconfig --add dovecot' and start it at boot-time using
'chkconfig dovecot on' ?
If so, what does you /etc/rc.d/init.d/dovecot file look like? And, as a
consequence, I suppose, I would remove /var/qmail/supervise/dovecot/run

How do you implement the logging mechanism, through qmailctl and
/var/qmail/supervise/dovecot/log/run ?

[qmailtoaster] Re: Fwd: [Dovecot] v2.0.10 released

Ah I thought I remembered seeing something about no -devel package, but that was

doesn't someone pull the trigger on it?

I still need to go through the configuration file, and probably create a
patch for QMT, so everyone doesn't need to repeat that process. If you'd
like to wait that's fine. I'll be putting the rpms in the QTP repo when
I get to that point. If you'd like the spec or src.rpm file I have so
far, I can email you those. Just say the word.

That said, what happens to the packages that require courier-imap?

Good question. I still have courier installed on my QMT. I just have a
'down' file in the supervise directories for it, so it never starts.

I know that dovecot breaks the mrtg graphs. This should be fixed at some
point.

BL, adding dovecot is separate from removing courier. ;) Someone does
need to go through packages and see what's needed in order to remove
courier.

maildrop-toaster requires courier-imap to build

I can't imagine why that is. I suppose it might use a courier library of
some sort. Then again, maildrop might not really need courier-imap.

Dovecot is going to be a major piece in the long run. I expect to see
the dovecot-pigeonhole package (LDA) totally replace maildrop and
vdelivermail at some point. It will be sweet to be able to specify mail
filtering rules with an email client (e.g. Thunderbird) and have the
rules run on the server. (This feature is right around the corner)

control-panel-toaster requires courier-imap to install

control-panel-toaster needs some work, and that's one piece of it.

Is there anything courier-imap specific in there or can we have them require
imap-server ?

I don't know the answer to that off hand. It's going to take a little
work to sever courier entirely from QMT. I'm sure Jake will be tackling
that in the v2 release. How much of dovecot will end up in QMTv2 is up
in the air at this point (ttbomk). I expect we may see just imap and
pop3 in QMTv2, with pigeonhole later on.

What develop stuff? AFAIK, it's ready to go.
There is a dovecot-debug that rpmbuild spits out, fwiw. Never used that myself.

Again, it seems stupid to repeat all the work that is already being done.

The 2.0.9 srpm I have is 4.5M. Would you like me to email it to you
directly?
(Note, I haven't adjusted any config settings yet)

Let me guess (since you haven't provided much information to go on).
You used vqadmin to create the domain.
 Right or wrong?

vqadmin has a problem with creating domains, which might be your problem.
Please delete users and domain(s), then use qcontrol (or CLI and
/home/vpopmail/bin/ commands) to create domain(s) and users. Do NOT use
vqadmin to update anything. It's ok for inquiries though.

For those who cant wait for the wiki : )

Adding a second Image that is clickable to your Squirre amail Login screen

1. Login as root to “ Your “ server
2. cd /usr/share/squirrelmail/src
3. Make a backup of the original login.php
4. cp login.php login.php.org
5. Edit the file login.php
6. Add the text right at the bottom of the file, after :
do_hook('login_bottom');
?

7. Insert this text

!-- FOR you: Div for center, a href to link and an img tag as the linked
item //--
div style=text-align: center;a href=http://www.yourlink.com;
target=_blankimg height=60 width=468 alt=any text
heresrc=../images/yourimage.png/a/div
div style=text-align: center;a target=_blankimg height=
alt=Ant text here for use src=/a/div
/body/html

8. Copy your image in png format to ( using sftp or ant other means )
/usr/share/squirrelmail/images

9. Check permissions, should be owned by root:root, and 0644
if not run these commands:

cd /usr/share/squirrelmail/images
chown root:root yourimage.png
chmod 644 yourimage.png

10. Load up your webmail site, you should see your new clickable image.

Notes:
Originally my image would NOT show up
to Fix, I copied then default logo(sm_logo.png) to my windows PC, used
mspaint top open,
did edit , select all, hit delete.
I also opened my logo, did edit, select all, copy, THEN pasted into the
now empty default squirrelmail logo . Re size as needed

Saved as sm_logo2.png, copied back to /usr/share/squirrelmail/image
set the correct logo name in the login.php file and Voila

Enjoy

 Hi list,
I have created and modified a script to allow admins, to ad a further
clickable logo to the standard squirrel-mail logon screen.

Can you please remind me how to put this on the wiki.

To view a working version, you can check out my test box
The logo as you can see can be linked to any URL

 ***MODS***
Am I allowed to post a URL in here?

 Thanks

Re: [qmailtoaster] Squirrel-mail

2011-03-04 Thread sysadmin
Due to email word wrapping
The text you insert should be only in 3 lines:
First line has this :
div style=text-align: center;a href=http://www.yourlink.com;
target=_blankimg height=60 width=468 alt=any text
heresrc=../images/yourimage.png/a/div

Third line has this :
div style=text-align: center;a target=_blankimg height=
alt=Ant text here for use src=/a/div

There should be /body/html at the very bottom.
Hope this cleared up the wordwrapping mess.

Have at it. I've added a link to this page under the Configuration-

I wrote some basic stuff, but it needs proper wiki formatting, specially

Thanks!
