I'm usually all done going it 20-30 minutes.  After my shower, I get back

taking more fiber and try going every day and don't do the digital stim in the
commode chair because of the pressure from sitting.  Wait until you get
into bed and go on your side after 45 minutes or so on the commode.  That

I have light-touch sensation from my chest down (injury level down), so
basically feel everything, and like others have posted, have the pins and
needles from my abdomen down to my legs and feet. I also have the ice cold
burning pain in my abdomen and back and the hot burning in my butt and legs.
I can deal with the pins and needles, it's the constant burning that drives
me crazy. And especially the cold burning in the gut and back. I also have
a spot on the inside of my left butt bone, which I'm pretty sure is a
pressure spot even though it's never red and has never turned into a sore,
but the area on the bone is hypersensitive and burns, aches, has needles,
and sometimes feels like I'm sitting on a rock there. Don't know what to do
about that spot and think it is just part of the nerve pain, but it is very
irritating and often painful.

My arms, hands, legs, feet and rear end have strong pins and needles
sensation 24/7. It is particularly strong in my left hand and foot. It
also feels as though my limbs and and rear end are immersed in ice cold
water. I have location sensation on most of the left side of my body,
almost none on the right side. I have chronic pain in my lower left rib

I had that tube inserted to my abdomen and flushed water through but the
tube came out.  I plan on getting it again when I go get my bladder surgery
again.  I have to get this flap taken care of first then that.  My

My routine is the same as Eric's.  Except that idea that 30 minutes rather than 45 minutes.  I go through periods here and there whereby I just don't have to go.  But at least I gave it the good old try.  And, recently, I was having more trouble with the stool coming all the way down.  It has never helped before but I decided to try to eat some raisin bran in the days prior to my routine.  It has actually helped this time!

It is a good mattress and I have been satisfiedwith it. I have it on a
regular bed though. I see no reason that it wouldn't work on a hospital bed.
Mine came out-of-pocket.

Those of you who are using this Comfort Direct mattress, does it work with
a

standard hospital bed as far as raising and lowering the head of the bed?
Were you able to get insurance or Medicare/Medicaid to pay for it? Would
you recommend the mattress if they had not improperly used your
testimonial?

I have those same sensations, mostly in my feet. I have a great deal of
lower abdominal pain as well. I have more feeling on my right side.
Sometimes my right buttock feels like I am sitting on a tac. Hurts like
hell.

sensation 24/7. It is particularly strong in my left hand and foot. It
also feels as though my limbs and and rear end are immersed in ice cold
water. I have location sensation on most of the left side of my body,
almost none on the right side. I have chronic pain in my lower left rib
cage that feels like broken ribs.

O.K. Guys,

This is my first real post. My bowel program used to take
about an hour with dig-stim every 5 min. I've since then had to change
attendants and sometimes now it lasts up to three hours now! My procedure is as
follows:

(Metamucil every morning/night, stool softner morning/night,
4 senekot evening before program

1. Magic Bullet in bed and stretch/wait 10 min.

2. Hot Water to drink

3. transfer to shower chair over commode

4. attendant dig-stim. every 5 min till done (sometimes 3
hours)

5. Few accidents, but she's rippin me up!

What can I do to speed up process? Changes I can make?
Things to try? Any suggestions would help tremendously

[QUAD-L] Never Ending Bowel Program

2006-04-09 Thread wheelchair

Hiya Steve.  Who's said that bowel management wasn't a good intro
question, lol?

Bowel Programs are most unique to an individual.  Training take time
and patience.  Making changes will also take time and patience.
Maybe you body is changing or resisting the efforts of your care giver.
Your diet also plays an important role in what happens in the end. The size
of your body and variations will also affect the results of any program.
Maybe you need a complete washout/evacuation and start from the beginning
or better training of the person doing the digi-stim.

I just got a letter from SS
saying I no longer have to pay the $72(?) for Medicare. They usually take it
out of my Disability check, but now I don’t have to pay it. They also are
sending me $265 for back money they took out. Cool. My insurance called me
and asked me my income. Because my only income is my Disability, they said I
qualified for that Medicare program. They took care of everything for me.
They only counted income, not assets. $72 is not a lot, but it helps.
