There is a new version of the BBC Radio app (1.9) which should fix a bug which caused it not to display on the My Apps menu when it is the only app installed. The listen live streams should use the latest aac urls that the BBC use and that people have started to post on this forum. If you use the applet this should work with all available BBC streams. To clarify the two responses you have had (and in case anyone else has this question), there are two versions of my BBC listen again addtions: 1) "BBC Radio" applet which runs on the newer players - specifically Radio and Touch. This works in conjunction with the Logitech server "My Squeezebox.com" which controls your player from over the internet and is intended for users with just a Radio or Touch player. 2) "BBCiPlayer" plugin which requires you to have a local PC/NAS server machine running Squeezebox server (SBS). This supports all the old squeezebox players and has some additional functionality, so for users already running squeezebox server it is the best solution. Assuming you buy a Radio, to install the BBCRadio Applet: - go to the settings, advanced, applet installer menu - select "BBC Radio" applet and install it - when the player reboots it should show a new menu item under Internet Radio which includes all listen again streams. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84230 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] BBC Radio 5 Live Availability
Even with this approach you will find times when the BBC does not stream sports coverage to UK users over the internet. This is because they do not have the same rights agreements for internet broadcasting as they do for over the air broadcasting. To get the best chance of connecting from the UK you could try the BBC Radio applet as this will connect from the radio itself and hence always use a uk address. To install, go to the settings, advanced, applet installer menu on the radio and select BBCRadio then install. The BBC Radio app supports both WMA and FlashACC versions of the streams. The FlashAAC ones sound slightly better and are the ones used by the iPlayer web interface. The WMA ones are primarily for internet radio devices. One advantage the applet has is that it checks for the stream to use at the time you press play and hence if the BBC make any changes it will use the latest stream. That said it can't prevent problems at the BBC or their content hosting provider end - what it can do though is offer you two sets of streams to try. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Loss of sound on some BBC stations
Don't give up on the Radio yet - which BBC stations are you having a problem with? Is it only when you select them from the presets? You can install a third party addition to the radio which will also give you access to listen again streams from the last week of the BBC. It also uses slightly different streams from the standard ones chosen by Logitech and these may work if the standard ones are not working for you. To try try this: - go to the Settings, Advanced, Applet Installer menu on the player - turn off "Recommended Applets Only" - select and install the BBCRadio applet - when the player reboots, BBC Radio should appear under the Internet Radio menu -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83035 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] BBC iPlayer
If you are using with SB Radio, then you may like to try the BBC Radio Applet which runs on the radio itself and so can work with MySqueezebox.com rather than needing Squeezebox server. To install - go to Settings, Advanced, Applet Installer and deselect "Recommended Applets Only" so it shows the whole list including BBC Radio - then select and install. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80716 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Step forward in iplayer listen again content
Is the question whether fwd/rew could be made better for long programmes? The issue is this is a "standard" player feature rather than anything specfic to iplayer - though I think its worth raising as a feature to be fixed in the player firmware. I think the main issue is how long it takes to forward through a long programme? If there was some acceleration would this help? -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77954 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I also updated that to match the bbc change, but I've only see a few downloads it it, so I was wondering whether people are using it or not. [you need to manually update it as there is no automatic prompt for updating as we have on the server] So to summarise for listening for BBC live aac streams or listen again yoiu have two options: 1) use BBCiPlayer plugin with SBS and use the BBCiPlayer menu under internet radio on the player [latest version of plugin is 1.1.5] 2) use the BBCRadio applet on a Radio or Touch with either a local server or Mysqueezebox.com - the menu for this is BBC Radio under internet radio on the player [latest version of applet is 0.8] Note you don't need the applet if you have a local server with BBCiPlayer plugin installed - it was mainly intended for people without local servers. However I've not seem many downloads so was interested if this is something people are looking for or not... -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77656 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Can you use your own Backgrounds, Yes you can.
It checks the size of the wallpaper and only allows the correct sized images to be available onto each player. Note there is another bug in 7.4.2 and 7.5 at present which I have just fixed and which prevents wallpapers showing up on the list on the player. If you run a beta version of the server please update to the next nightly in the next day or so. -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70940 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I've changed the English name of the plugin to "Customise Device" which should show up in future versions of SBS including 7.4/7.5 nightlies. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Can you use your own Backgrounds, Yes you can.
"Customise Controller" is intended to work for all device not just the controller and should have been renamed. I definately changed it so I suspect what has happened is that the old description strings have been reused. (Edit: looking at it some of the string have been updated but not the title...) It does check for the correct screensize of the image and should show them on the settings page next to any image you give it telling you which types of player will be able to use the image. Note that to get the images onto the player/controller you need to have them attached to the SBS not mysqueezebox.com and then go to the settings, screen, wallpaper page. So what is intended to happen: - install SBS on your computer - go to the settings, advanced, "customise controller" page - add links to your new wallpapers (should work just adding a link to images on this page into the URL box) and press apply - if the image is read correctly it will show up on the page and will have an indication next to which player it will work with - then connect your player to the server (by browining into my music to verify that it is connected to SBS) - go to the settings, screen, wallpaper page and the additional wallpapers should appear in the list you can select from -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70940 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
