My Duet works fine though (with either MYSB or local SBS) so these

If connecting the player directly to MySB.com via a router your
computer firewall and anti virus should not be an issue as the computer
will not even know of the players existence on your network.
Though a router firewall or other setting may affect playback in this
case.

I'd try looking at every router security setting. MAC filtering? Max
number of connections exceeded? Try turning off encryption? Turn off
firewall?

Everything seemed to be working with SBS 7.5.3 until I bought a SQ Radio
and started streaming extensively radio for the first time. Since then
I've had SBS crash multiple times while streaming certain radio
stations, and I have to reboot the server to get SBS back up and
running. Good to see I'm not alone with this problem. I'm trying 7.5.4
first, and it that causes problems. I'll drop back to 7.5.2.

I seem to be having the same problem too!

I manage to listen to most of a song and then it loses the wifi network
connection. I have to reboot again to connect and then it loses it after
a few minutes again. I thought it was maybe my access point, but it
seems too much of a coincidence that others have this problem as well.

I adore my radio, I have it on in the bathroom and go to sleep
listening to it - please help, I really miss it!

I am suffering from the exact same problem described above. Either the

it can and the squeeze server goes down. When the server is down I can't
connect to it via the web interface, or reboot it with the control
application (which claims it is up), I must manually reboot the server
 by killing the process.

 I am running:

 Version: 7.5.3 - r31792 @ Mon Jan 24 07:32:03 PST 2011
 Operating system: Windows 7 - EN - cp1252
 Perl Version: 5.10.0 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
 MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt

 Player Model: Squeezebox Radio
 Firmware: 7.5.3-r9283

Surprised there haven't been more complaints about this issue, albeit
the power button one sounds quite crap as well. I should never have
 installed the update :(

Happy to provide logs if required, but the ones I've looked at haven't
revealed / hinted at any issues.

Edit: I might make it seem like this is happening 100% of the time, no,
I can get the radio to work, but it is a consistent issue that crops up
many times in a day much like the previous fellow stated.

Same problems here. Had a Squeezebox Radio for about 6 months with no
problems at all, not a single disconnect before i updated the device a
while ago. For me the problem is so annoying that i stopped using my
device! I've tried with 3 different wireless routers as well, so i know
that its not a network issue (also got loads of other devices on the
same network working perfectly).

I also have a Squeezebox Duette, and i don't have any of the same
problems on that one. Currently i have tried connecting to 2 different
SBS on my network, currently running 7.5.3 - r31792. Also tried direct
connection to mysqueezebox.com, but still the same problems. Squeezebox
Radio FW is 7.5.3 r9283.

SBS installs:

Server 1:
Version: 7.5.3 - r31792 @ Mon Jan 24 07:32:03 PST 2011
Operativsystem: Windows 7 - NO - cp1252
Perl-versjon: 5.10.0 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL-versjon: 5.0.22-community-nt

Server 2:
Version: 7.5.3 - r31792 @ Mon Jan 24 07:32:03 PST 2011
Operating system: Windows 2008 Server R2 - NB - cp1252
Perl Version: 5.10.0 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
MySQL Version: 5.0.22-community-nt

First i thought my device was bad, so i returned my old device and got
a new one. This one worked a few hours before I got spammed with
multiple updates. In good faith i accepted these updates, and as before
this rendered the device more or less useless as a WiFi-radio. I dont
have the patient to listen for music for like 5 minutes, and then have
to turn the device off and on to listen for another 5-10 minutes.

As reported i also get the blue wireless icon (on my new player it also
turns red sometimes), and a message that the adress could not be
resolved.

Logitech, PLEASE resolve this problem! The Squeezebox radio is a great
product, but currently mine is worth nothing as it only makes me
frustrated! Pretty please, fix this issues and give me the value of my
squeezbox radio back!

like I said, now and then it prompts me with that upgrade (downgrade,
in fact). But it's ease to keep pressed the 'home'' button for upgrade
to dissappear :-).
Anyway, I contacted Synology and that is the response:

Squeezebox is the Logitech product and they could keep the Squeezebox
up to date with the automatic upgrade. But we need to wait for Logitech
release the source code, then it's possible for Synology to make a
packge for NAS to use. There may exist some time shift before the
package of the latest Squeezebox is ready for Synology NAS. We are
contacting Logitech for this purpose. Sorry for any inconvenience. Once
the latest package is ready, we will announce it in our web site..
So they blame you for not releasing the source code.

The latest source code release version of 7.5.3 is only about a week
old. They can't provide Synology beta SBS versions, only full release
production versions.
So I'd expect a few days to a few weeks for Synology to play catch up
on every new SBS release. Every update creates the same queries from

First, I don't think they blame _me_ because I have nothing to do with
Logitech besides being a customer, like you. And I really don't think
they are blaming Logitech at all. Logitech releases the source code
to everyone at the same time, including Synology. In theory Synology
could be updating their package with every nightly beta release, so
that the final changes for the official release would be small and
incremental. But I expect that is way too costly for them, so Synology
waits for an official release, and then plays catch-up. And Logitech
can't send it to Synology in advance, because they are making changes
almost up to the point of the official release.

Glad you like the Radio, and yes, pressing the Home button (or the Back

Correct, so as was pointed out, either turn on the PC or switch to MySB
and get the update prompts. aubuti is just trying to offer suggestions
to avoid such prompts.

Well, if you don't want to connect through SBS then just upgrade your
server to 7.5.3 (the first option I mentioned) and be done with the
firmware dance. Or has whoever is supporting SBS on Synology not
released 7.5.3 for your NAS yet? If that's the case then maybe I should
have offered two more options: (c) pester the Synology people to catch
up and release 7.5.3 for your NAS, or (d) use a server that can be
updated when Logitech releases a new version, not when some 3rd party
gets around to it.

I'm not sure exactly what you expect Logitech to do in this situation.
If you can't (or won't) upgrade your server to 7.5.3 then have to
either connect to mysb via SBS or put up with the firmware
upgrade/downgrade. If it is a delay from whoever is supporting Synology
then it is a situation you will probably have to get used to, because
there are probably _always_ going to be delays in updating SBS. I
understand it's a fine NAS, but that's one of the inconveniences of the
server you chose.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Update 7.5.3 r9283

2011-01-28 Thread John E Boy

I've just about had it with my Radio. Its my third device, originally
bought a SB3 a few years ago, added a Squeezebox Boom then bought a
radio after that.

For the last few firmware patches my radio has exhibited a daily (or
more frequent) disconnect problem when it loses the connection to the
server and stays that way until it is power cycled.

Yes - I am using the built in wireless in the radio - it is one of the
reasons I bought the device. I don't want to have a long ethernet
cable trailing from my bedroom over to my office and I'm not about to
start drilling holes/routing cables around.

Although annoying as it was I could live with the problem since the
alarms on the disconnected radio still worked. However I upgraded the
firmware on the radio 2 nights ago and this morning all the alarms
failed - result I only woke up when I was sent a text message and heard
my phone.

I did notice that the icon on the radio for the disconnected state has
changed from orange to blue - so has this bit of the firmware in
release 7.5.3 been fixed - what does the blue icon rather than orange
icon signify?

Is the wireless hardware inside the radio particularly flakey? I've
had the unit less than 2 year - is it possible for the wireless
hardware to have failed and if so has anyone have had experience of
sending in the radio to logitech to be repaired? (My other wireless
devices around the house laptop/SB boom/SB3/XBox360/iPhone etc seem to
be able to hold a connect to my wireless network without problems).

Or should I just throw the unit out and revert to old style FM clock
radio?
Any advice/solutions would help.

Yes so then your player downgrades to 7.5.1 firmware everytime it
connects to this server .

Upgrade Server to 7.5.3 .

or only use via the NAS even for radio , then the radio will keep it's
fw at that level no upgrade/downgrade cycle .

If you have entered you mysb.com creds in the server settings and sbs
has acess o internet all webradio functions and apps should be aviable
via the local server.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Update 7.5.3 r9283

2011-01-28 Thread tonio3l

It may be an odd suggestion, but :
Is it so difficult for the developpers to disable the automatic upgrade
when the version is anterior ? (down grade)
With, of course, letting the possibility for the user to make such a
downgrade on his will...
When you see the amount of people who cannot bear anymore the
up-down-up-downgrade dance, I think this kind of feature could
seriously improve the quality of the SB service in general.
(Of course I understand that a simple upgrade of the SBS could solve
their pb, but one could prefer wait one week or two before upgrading
the sbs on his complicated NAS server...)

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Update 7.5.3 r9283

2011-01-28 Thread aubuti

Firmware is matched to the SBS software, whether it's SBS running on
mysqueezebox.com or on a local server. Sometimes -- not always, but
sometimes -- an old firmware won't work with a newer server version.
And that would hardly improve the quality of the SB service in
general. That's why the fw upgrades/downgrades to match the SBS to
which it is connected.

If the up-down-up dance drives you crazy, you can either (a) upgrade
your SBS, or (b) don't upgrade your SBS, and only connect to mysb.com

It does that almost every 30 seconds.

One of my booms is exhibiting the disconnect/connect behavior the other

Apparently, this is not an issue with the firmware upgrade for the
Radio. The firmware for the Boom was upgraded within the last day or so
also and there is a bit of a bug in that process. There is what appears
to be an easy fix for this issue. Here is the link to the appropriate
Boom thread.
