 Dear Sir,
I am Mr.Eduado de Mello, one of the Principal

here for our story is indeed interwoven with the
history of the world and the liberation struggle in
the Southern African region of the African continent.
The bubble burst just some weeeks ago when my supreme
commander, the late Dr.Jonas Savimbi was killed in an
encounter with the government forces of the MPLA
government of my country. The rest is now history but
suffice it to say that I am tired of the unfortunate
role of waging a war against my fatherland.I have
therefore decided to pull out my troupes from the bush
even if the other field commanders decide otherwise am
therefore poised to effect a new beginning in my life
and I have decided to make South Africa my new home at
least for the interim period until I am sufficiently
sure that I would be welcome home whole heartedly by
the MPLA government in Luanda the capital of Angola.
Needles to say I was the single most important
commander who was very close to the late supreme
 commander; Dr.Jonas Savimbi.Indeed because I am a
brother to one of his wives,he confided in me a great
deal. The result of such trust is my reason for
contacting you I was the commander whom he sent to
deposit the sum of Thirty two million USD ($32million)
 with a security/finance company in South Africa.This
was immediately after the events of September 11,2001
in the United States of America.Indeed it had become
increasingly difficult to move large volumes of money
around the world particularly for a liberation
movement like UNITA hence the recourse to keeping the
money with the security company in South Africa. I
have decided to inherit this money which was taken out
and deposited with the said security/finance company
as cash in Hundred dollar denominations. The money is
kept in my signature and would have been used in the
purchase of arms and ammunition for the purposes of
continuing the civil war in Angola. The supreme
commander is dead and as already stated I have decided
to quite the whole thing and this is without regard to
the fact that other commanders may wish to continue !
I want to cooperate with you in my decision to inherit
the $32million.I am still in the bush here but I have
been able to establish contact with the company in
South Africa to the effect that I would soon come to
take possession of the money that I kept with them.
Note also that I deposited the money as a foreign
national who is the head of a Mining company in Angola
(Never as a commander of UNITA). If you are able to
cooperate with me over this am willing to give you 20%
of the $32million.Please come back to me through
 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] security/finance
company is standing by to receive my instructions on
this and I will link you up with them as soon as you
are ready to take possession of the $32million.
Finally you are to note that in you reply, you are to
state your residential or company address and if
possible send a copy of your international passport so
as to assure me that my money is safe in your hands.
 Yours truly,
 Eduado de Mello

This comes from any compiler 2.91. It's not a problem, but you should use

Mandrake 8.2 and gcc 2.95.3 installed from the sources. If the problem is
with the compiler version, how come that in one of them it doesn't show up?.

Hello all:
I'm trying to compile a realtime C++ module but it fails at the very first

DSLib v1.2.0 released!: Comedi interfacing

Hello all:
I finally implemented what was missing: blocks for hardware I/O
(CComediInput and CComediOutput classes). As you can guess from their names
they generate Comedi library function calls, so such library is needed:

This new DSLib v1.2.0 release can be downloaded from the old website:

everything about 2 and further versions will be in the new website:

Yeah, you're probably right. My memory of unresolved symbols probably
happened when I was installing the rtlinux modules, before ever getting
to
compiling comedi. You can also fix the problem by editing the rtlinux

If you want to avoid hacking makefiles, you'll have to start from the

(oh
there is also a patch posted somewhere on the rtl mailing list that you
  could apply to enable versioning.)

I can reproduce this by doing 'make install' without doing 'make' first.
If you look in Makefile.modbuild, it is looking for compiled modules in
comedi's module directory and finding none. There should probably be some
dependencies added to the install target to catch this?

I don't think this error is due to the modversions not working in rtlinux,
if I remember correctly that happens later when make runs depmod and you
 get unresolved symbols.

It looks like the problem is with your rtlinux directory. When you were

actually get to the error with kill_fasync that one could argue is a
problem with comedi, which is due to rtlinux's use of the 2.4.0test1

[rtl] Linux equivalents to pthread_make_periodic_np and pthread_suspend_np

2001-04-13 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello all:
I'm trying to make DSLib v2 generate
adecuatedsystem calls depending on it beingLinux, RTLinux, or RTAI.
I'm looking in the Linux threads functions and I don't see any equivalent to
pthread_make_periodic_np and pthread_suspend_np. Is there any?. If not, how can
I performsuch operations?.
Thank you.

All memory management needed for that is based on new and delete.

So compiling the module as C++ code and using kmalloc/rt_malloc to allocate
the object is all I need to do?. Will that allow me to call its methods and
do all the C++ stuff as usual?.

What are you looking for in particular?

Somebody in my group works on neural-network controls that perform
operations with a "matrix" class, so I want to run these controls with
RTLinux/RTAI

The code generated by the C++
compiler for an object instantiation is basically equivalent to

 myclass_t *myobject;
 myobject = malloc(sizeof(myclass_t));
 if(!myobject)
 throw exception;
calls to any base class constructors here
 myclass_t__myclass_t(myobject);

where "myclass_t__myclass_t()" is the constructor converted into a C style
call. (I'm using malloc() here to avoid confusion with the C++ semantics
of
 new.)

Re: [rtl] Real time C++?

2001-04-10 Thread Ivan Martinez

I did. I found discussions about modules implementing dynamic memory
allocation in realtime code, but I couldn't figure out if they would allow
me to allocate objects. I tried "realtime C++", "real time C++", "real time
objects allocation", etc, as search criteria, but none of them seemed to
lead me to relevant information. Maybe you would be so kind of pointing me
to the right postings. Thank you.

[rtl] realtime rtfifo plotting tool

[rtl] DSLib is back!

2001-01-09 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello all,
After this parenthesis working on other things, I'm back to DSLib's
development. First of all, I apologize for the website showing outdated
pages last weeks. It has been already fixed:

http://www.rtlinux.org/dsl/

Next things I plan to do are:
- First, develope Comedi drivers for ComputerBoards PCI-DDA08/12,
PCI-DAS1200, and PCI-DIO48H/CTR15. Any starting point, help or advice
about this would be much appreciated. I have alread asked for help in
the Comedi mailing list, but I hope somebody here could help me too.
- Second, develope a DSLib block to interface with Comedi. This will
make hardware access from DSLib quite easy.
This is all at the moment. New releases will be announced here and in
the DSLib web pages.

[rtl] New RTAI list?

2000-09-10 Thread Ivan Martinez

I completely agree. I don't see the point in mixing RTLinux and RTAI in
the same list.

 c) since RTAI was so insistently argued as being inspired, from
its birth, by everything but RTLinux, that is, RTAI has (had)
nothing to do with RTLinux, allowing discussions that address
those two "completely different" subjects might have proven
to be a strange mistake that was made from the beginning of
the creation of this list. Therefore, why don't we split this
list into two different lists: the existing one exclusively
for RTLinux technical discussions and a new one (to be created)
only for RTAI?

I know: for someone that was trying to unify the two systems
I seem very separatist now. But that idea, though I love it, was
suggested by someone else (in a private email) and it seems as obvious
as it's perfect. RTAI is not related to RTLinux; what is good for one
is not good for the other; a bunch of emails are summarily deleted
by those who don't use the others' system; and keeping both groups
together has taken a lot of attention from the technical issues to
the "quote" spelling silliness "end quote". So why keep it like this?

If that were of the general audience's interest, a third list
could be created to disscuss generic real-time issues. But again,
in this later list, one shouldn't expect that specific problems,
bugs, details, developments, etc. regarding any of the specific
 implementations to be addressed.

 Thanks,

Guilherme DeSouza

[rtl] RTAI and RTLinux

2000-08-29 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello all:
I'm comparing RTAI to RTLinux and I just want to make you a couple of
questions. Please don't start fighting about which sytems is best!. It's
not about that.
I understood RTAI is a compatible extension of RTLinux with extra
features, right?. Is the extension made from every RTLinux version or
it's a different project-branch now?.
If it's an extension, how is compatibility kept?. Let's say RTLinux
guys decide to implement their own semaphores after RTAI. Because of
being the original project, they don't care about how things are already
implemented in RTAI, do they?. What happens then in RTAI?. Does it keep
both its original implementation and the new RTLinux one?.
Thank you, and please stay as friends ;-)

[rtl] Why RTLinux?

2000-08-25 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello all:
I have to justify my decission of using RTLinux instead of another
realtime operating system in my MSc project. Basically my reasons are
the known advantages of Linux:
- Popularity
- Free software (we spent a lot of money in hardware so I couldn't
sustain this very much if a censor points this out)
- Free support
- Open sources
- Independence from companies
"The RTLinux Manifesto" remarks the advantages of MERT's decoupling of
realtime part and non-realtime part. Is still RTLinux the only OS that
uses that approach? (apart from RTAI, of course).
Could you help me with aditional reasons to support my decission?.
I have seen WindowsNT 4.0 mentioned as a realtime operating system. Can
it really run hard realtime user tasks?.
Thank you.

[rtl] DSL v1.0.0beta released!

2000-07-24 Thread Ivan Martinez

(Sorry if sent twice, I think I did something wrong the first
time)

DSL is a C++ library for real-time dynamic systems simulation
under
RTLinux. DSL's classes implement loops, blocks, inputs, outputs, etc.
By creating instances and setting their properties, you can easily
implement the block diagram of your system. Once you have done this, it
automatically generates the code for its simulation in real-time.

Some features are:
- Different parts of a system can have different schedulings.
- Error messages inform you about many possible errors in your system's
  definition.
- Variables' values can be logged and modified during simulation.

DSL was designed to be extended:
- Provides base classes to easily implement new components.
- Existing components can interact with new ones without being modified.

For more information and downloads, visit DSL's homepage:

http://www.student.dtu.dk/~u990873/dsl/

(Above location is temporary. Definitive location will be
announced there, in "RTLinux.org" homepage, and in this rtl mailing
list).

For any question use rtl mailing list. Author (me) will be
listening.

[rtl] rtfifos out of rttasks?

thing of major numbers). Also I don't know if they can have handlers.

[rtl] Where is NSECS_PER_SEC defined?

2000-05-14 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello all,
I'm trying to use the type "hrtime_t" in my library and when I include
the file "/usr/include/rtlinux/arch/rtl_time.h", I get an error in that
file saying that "NSECS_PER_SEC" is undefined. Where is it defined?. Why
isn't there an include in "rtl_time.h" to the file with
"NSECS_PER_SEC"?.
BTW, the new site is cool!.

Hello all,
Probably this is off-topic, but I'm sure this is the best place to get
answers. Does anybody know where can I find drivers for ComputerBoards'
A/D, D/A and timer cards?. Many thanks.

[rtl] Tasks launched by interrupts

2000-04-27 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello all,
I have a control system where some tasks are scheduled by RTLinux. Now
I need to add some others tasks whose execution is launched by hardware
interrupts. My first question is if these tasks should be scheduled by
RTLinux in some way, or they are a job of the Linux scheduler. Thank
you.

[rtl] No global variables?

2000-04-13 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hi,
My system crashes when a real time thread tries to access a global
variable defined in its module. Is not that operation possible?. Thank
you.

In which ".h" is "hrtime_t" defined?. I looked in "rtl_time.h" but I
didn't find the definition. Thank you.

[rtl] Calling gcc with rtl.mk values?

2000-03-03 Thread Ivan Martinez

Hello realtimers,
I'm doing a program that should generate, compile, and load modules of
real time threads. I thought about not to generate any makefile for
compiling that modules, calling "gcc" with the necesary arguments.
But there is a problem with that arguments. I should use the values
defined in "rtl.mk", but that file was made to be included in a
makefile.
Can I call "gcc" with the values defined in "rtl.mk"?. How?.
    Thank you in advance.
