Re: Sam's 15th Birthday!
I got mine knowingly at Christmas from my parents.. I pretended to not know what I was getting, but through a mishap with the post, I was forewarned! Christmas day was ... well, it started ok, then the PSU blew and I had to wait till the next few business working days to send the PSU back and get it replaced. Of course, the DOS hadn't been finished, so no disk usage! Brilliant times!! ** This message is confidential. Re: Sam's 15th Birthday!
God yes - this was what forewarned me about my Sam. It actually got delivered to my grandparents house, but this card got delivered to my parents. So when I saw it, I was over the moon, then realised that if my parents knew that I knew (!), they'd be disappointed with the loss of surprise, so I strategically placed the card back in the letter box (stuffed inside). My mum discovered it!! :) Gavin Smith [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent by: [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01/12/2004 19:48 Please respond to sam-users To:sam-users@nvg.ntnu.no cc: Subject:Re: Sam's 15th Birthday! Well, December 2004 see's the 15th Birthday of the Sam Coupe! Did anyone here receive their Sam in December 1989 when they were released, and did it live up to your initial expectations? I got mine in Dec 1989, and it did in fact fill me with joy for about 6 weeks until a mate got an Amiga and I saw what it could do. Unfortunately for me the dream ended there - I realised that the next generation had come and the Sam that my father saved for was condemned never to be as utilised or understood as deep as the Spectrums I had owned for the previous 7 years. -- _ _ _a' /( . # Gaz Wilson, aka DragonLord /_/ _ _/ / ` / _ ~~ _}\ \( _ ) # E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] / \ /_'/_/ /_, / /_||/|/ \(,_(,)' # Info: http://www.dragons.org.uk Catch me with the Dragons. ._, _, # Chat: http://www.redclaw.org.uk/

Yes!, I got my Sam`s from a Show in Blackpool, some hotel, it was a very cold day. I think I was the first person to buy from Bruce and Miles at that Show. My Sam has been in "every day use since". Re: Sam's 15th Birthday!
Got mine februari. I remember being disappointed about the disk not working there where several problems of it's rushed release. But without them I probably wouldn't have done the things I did and would't be as close to MGT as I was then. While at it I remember there was a SAM Hotline, I hated my phone company for not being able to dial those 0800 numbers. I got one taped recording from Alan Miles crediting me for the Kim Wilde Sample (I still have it somewhere). I wonder what happend to all the other recordings ? Edwin

I didn't get a disk drive for 6 months :-( tape loading assemblers art packages etc - took ages! Yeah, but wasn't it fun/exciting as the tape drive made a similar, yet totally different noise from the spectrum - you KNEW it was better just by the screech ;) -- _ _ _a' /( . # Gaz Wilson, aka DragonLord /_/ _ _/ / ` / _ ~~ _}\ \( _ ) # E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] / \ /_'/_/ /_, / /_||/|/ \(,_(,)' # Info: http://www.dragons.org.uk Catch me with the Dragons. ._, _, # Chat: http://www.redclaw.org.uk/

Does anyone else still have their order confirmation cards? Here's mine: http://www.simonowen.com/images/samorder.jpg Great to see one of those again ! Maybe we all should dig around and see what we come up with ! I found that hotline tape BTW now need to make a mp3 out of it. I remember it feeling quite an alien machine to code for at first, after years of familiarity with the Speccy. Tell me about it ! I was used to OCP assembler on speccy (guess what inspired me to write Comet!) With Sam I started out with pen and paper ! Edwin
