Today i installed a 2 items on my car and now i am having serious issues,. I still of course am working on my 87 Daytona Shelby. 2.2 TII I removed the factory Air Filter Box completely. In place of the Hose beginning at the inter cooler then entering the Air Box( a straight through design) then exiting and ending at the TB, I placed a 2.5" exhaust pipe. Then, I placed a K&N cone type Filter at the fresh Air inlet of the turbo. ( with a 2.5" tube as its connection) The plastic hose from the Power Module that enters the Air box was completely removed for the introduction to the K&N Then last but not least, the little PCV line that ran from the fresh air intake side of the air box, to the PVC junction boot, or grommet deal, that line was left open ( a baby K&N protecting it Right now) Symptom at hand is Seems to have a miss when just driving (putting) along, When I even attempt to hit the gas, the car has no real turbo power, and the most WEIRD part out of all this.. when i clutch, it sounds like loud Blow off Valve of some sort.( not equipped yet) the boost gauge in the dash even shows no Boost. Trouble shooting I have tried plug the little hose at the PVC line from the air box with no change in run ability Made a check for a good seal on the Turbo hoses. Ended up Dark out with no drop lights. . I also replaced wires, and plugs today 30 mins prior. gap 0.35, Belden 7mm wires. NKG V power plugs. Anyone know where I need to look? I will be inspecting vacuum in the morning. But If anyone knows off hand if this conversion is a problem. Had a melt down on the interstate last weekend. 5th gear is soo toast. I have my Tranny at Inland Truck parts (Rapid City). They can not seem to find parts for it. I work for rapid tire and alignment, I have never seen ANY vehicle run any more then .5 neg camber on the passenger side. From all my experience 3/8 positive camber on the driver with 0 camber on the passenger side to be the most optimum. I run that on my 87 daytona with 1/16 of toe in hope this helps. However, there is such a large range of camber setting that can work. But for tire wear and daily driving, the above mentioned specs are just the general setting we use on 90% applications. Hello again SDML. I have a 100% rebuilt 2.2 782 head for sale. This has never been run on a motor since rebuild. brand new everything. was glass beaded so it looks sharp also... The bad new is the machine shop gave me the wrong cam caps, i went to torque them down and noticed a gap between the cap and tower... thought i might add some more torque to it thinking it was just a "burr" of some sort and then SNAP broke number 3 cam tower off. about 50% of the way down the thread is where the break is.. SD> shifter cable?
I just installed that new A555 I have my linkage all in place correctly. However when i try to shift to 2nd or 4th it feels like there is nothin there... it bottoms out on the stick and dont engage.. sometimes it will though.. but none the less it feels as if there is nothin there. Durin install of the tranny, my friend ( we think) popped out the brass tube that goes over the cable, at the actual hook up on the tranny "fork" We tried to pop it back in but were not sure if it went or not. Will that cause the problem? if so can it be popped back in with it remaining reliable? Wife ran into a problem with the old Daytona today, She described to me that when she would be on the gas pedal the stearing wheel would go back and forth. She said it was doing in bad. Though, when she let off the gas pedal it would stop.. Anyone had this problem and know where to point me? I have not been able to look at the car, I just got the call about 5 mins ago. Hi folks, finally have my s60 lined up, have a few questions. I am installing it on a 87 2.2. I have the PM and LM, So I need to convert it over to the SMEC. anyone have a link or a friend who has the under hood wiring harness for sale? Am I correct in this being a feasible conversion? the car the s60 is in is not very nice. Mine is and I have a brand new motor and a brand new a555 with a clean body and interior.. Is this wiring computer conversion just R&R? or do i need other things to go with it? Hi guys, got that super 60 the other day and the turbo was told to me was new, It looked new, very clean. But I pulled it all out of the car and was cleaning it upo and decided to spin the wheel.. seemed a bit harder to spin then my old one.. I passed that off as it being new and mine justr havin 120k miles on it... but what got me was the play.. It has side to side play in it. So of course i cheked the swing vale side and the play goes all the way through to that. Am I paranoid? or is this normal? Hello folks, going to sell my car as a whole. 87 Daytona Shelby T2/ 2 baby spots of rust on rear quater.. the paint is good shape. white in color, interior is blue. Brand spanking new motor (5-10k miles the thing looks great, all clean and shiny. hoses are covered in purple line covers. it just looks great and snazy this engine has every thing new on it. MAP sensor, Fuel injectors, FP regulator, TPS. I mean everything. Custom built cold air intake, can not even tell its custom builts, looks like a million bucks, painted a Mirage 3 step color. K&N cone filter. had a nice and loud BOV in it. 2peice intake. the turbo is origanal 3inch exhaust, Magnaflow performance muffler(was like 110 for muffler alone) Nice CD player, Rockford 10" subs (2005 models) 500 watt Rockford AMP (2005 model) Eclipse 5.5s in the rear and ALpine Type S 4s in the door. interior is supurd shape (needs head liner) Grant GT wheel (grey) Firestone Firehawks on all four wheels Crab rims Brand NEw/not a rebuilt!! Just a guess, but if this is a 2.2 TII I would say you have an intercooler hose loose. check the clamps and for good coverage. If that is the problem, then whats happened is the turbo is causing the "fluttering" when you clutch, the compressser is blowing back out the pressure. you obvioulsy loose lots of boost also. the 87 t2 2.2 still runing sickly bad, ran on board codes with the ignition switch and got a 1,33,35,2,55 this dont look right. car running real rich and dies when I let off gas pedal. runs like i got a HUGE cam in it. black smoke out the pipe. .I have the 3way rubber conector that comes off of the valve cover pluged on one end. the PCV side is not pluged up. I did this when i made a cold ait intake and needed to get rid of the "trumpet" looking pipe that came off that 3 way conector. 87 daytona New motor. maybe 5k miles. can provide proof. looking at it should be proof enough new A-555 has maybe 1000 miles on it. not a rebuilt. super 60 kit missing the map sensor and the SMEC for those 88 and up. kit inclused head 3 angle valve grind/ back cut Valves. mild port and polish. not installed on the car at this time. 3 inch exhaust, magnaflow performance muffler. also inclused full 2.5 inch mandrell bent system. new everything. shocks,axles, alternator, waterpump.. everything new. have probably 5,000$ in receipts. JL audio 5" door speakers, eclipse 5.25 rear speakers. interior exellent. needs headliner. no tears/stains cracks on dash or seats. all the glass is chip/crack free. we have more money tied up in this car then you can shake a stick at. South Dakota car. 1 or 2 small rust spots. maybe 2" diamater at the most. sweet looking coldair intake. runs rich right now. not want to put ONE MORE dollar into it. has boost pillar pod/guage hooked up . Car is White. crab wheels. junk yard Logic module, brand spanking new power module. very clean under the hood.
