CSFw: [rifers] What's next...

2004-05-05 Thread T J Garland

: [rifers] What's next...

 Hi all!

This is a bit off topic but it sort of blew me away.

Was in the Pharmacy dept of Walmart and found two items, one by Johnson
Johnson and the other Curad. Both were a version of bandaids, and both
contained silver.

Curad's was a bandaid with silver gel, that can be worn 48 hours or
until it falls off.

The box also states laboratory testing showed that silver in the dressing
reduced bacterial growth (Staph. aureus, E coli, E. hirae and P. aeruginosa
for 48 hours).

Curad is made in Germany, and the silver is 0.003% silver oxide, but to
find it on the shelves in the USA was quite unique.

Although they don't quite have it right, the mainstream must be listening
a little!

 Take care,

 Bob

CSDeionized water

2004-05-05 Thread Paul Holloway
Hi List,

I am a new member and I hope you can settle an argument.
I have been making CS for many years, using deionized water as I live in the
UK where distilled water is hard to come by.
I have now been told in no uncertain terms that it is impossible to make
good quality CS using deionized water, and that only distilled water will do
the job. The deionized water I was using for several years was from the
biochemistry lab I used to work in, and had a resistivity of less than 0.1
uS/cm (resistance 10-15 megohms/cm), which is at least as good as distilled
water. I now use deionised water that I buy (from my local pharmacy or from
Superdrug), but it seems in every way identical to the lab deionized water -
the initial current is identical and the colour and taste of the resulting
CS is identical.

Do I really need to start distilling water, or can I carry on using
deionized water?
If I can't use this water, why not, as it is at least as pure as distilled?
Surely it is the purity of the water that maters, not the method used to
purify it.

Thanks in anticipation,

Paul Holloway

Sorry your Walgreens Humidifier stopped and that opening rinsing with

CSDeionized water

2004-05-05 Thread Trem
Hi Paul,

You're absolutely correct. The only criteria is that the water be
demineralized. Distillation or deionization both do the job. When using
deionized water it is harder to get the process of getting the silver to
start releasing atoms because of the low water conductivity. As far as I'm
concerned the end product is superior.

In our area Safeway stores carry both deionized and distilled water. The
deionized always has a lower uS reading.

Best regards,

Trem

The scare authors have an agenda; keeping the scare in perspective,
at the Sucralose doses we get using it as a sweetener (5 mg - 12 mg
roughly) rather than the wholesale feedings the half-starved rats
got, it's pretty safe. A better message would be to be careful and
not eat the whole box several times a week ;)

If people are worried about the chlorine ingested, a better approach
would be to get the chlorine out of your tap water before you take a
shower. That gives much higher levels of THMs and chlorine.

Surely it is the purity of the water that maters, not the method used to
 purify it.

First of all dionized water is not necessarily as pure as distilled. For
instance, if you put sugar in the water before deionizing and distilling, the
sugar will still remain in the deionized, but not in the distilled.

So the question is whether compounds that may be present in the deionized water
could be a problem when making CS. Well, first of all, there are two main
problems with contaminates when making CS.

The first is that if the compound is ionic, then it will increase conductivity.
But since it is deionized, these should not be there, and your conductivity
measurements seem to confirm this.

The second is are there ions available for the silver to react with, such as
chlorine, the ammonia radical and so forth. Once again, those compounds and
radicals will generally be ionic, and as such would have been removed.

So my opinion is that deionized water should work fine for making CS. If you
can end up with a clear batch with a good tyndall then I believe that would be
the proof of the pudding.

Re: CScs and fillings

2004-05-05 Thread William Meyer
i would agree with this. except for the staining of the teeth, silver
should help encapsulate

mercury fillings and be an advantage.
i assume if it is coating the filling it is also being picked up by the
enamel of the teeth.
brushing with h202 afterwords may help with tooth staining but it would
also probably

remove any mercury on the amalgams.

Re: CSDeionized water

2004-05-05 Thread Paul Holloway
Thanks to all who have replied.
I do get a clear CS with a good Tyndall effect, so I am confident that I am
producing good CS.
I do add a squirt of CS from my old batch to get things going, and it works
well.

A word of warning - I found some purified water in a pharmacy here that
says it has resistivity of less than 30 uS which is *not* good enough for
making CS. The purified water BP that I use seems at least as pure as
deionized, so if you are in the UK make sure you use either deionised or
purified water BP. The BP stands for British Pharmacopia and means it is
very pure, pure enough to be used for making up IV medicines.

CSDispensing Question

2004-05-05 Thread Linda Jones
I've made up a quart of colloidal silver. My first batch! :^)

I currently have it in a 1 quart regular mouth Ball canning jar. (It's in
the same jar that I made it in.) But when I try to pour out some, it
dribbles down the outside of the jar in addition to what I'm trying to pour
out, and not only is it making a mess, but it's wasting it. I can only dip a
tablespoon into it when it is clear full. As it gets more empty, I won't be
able to dip the tablespoon into it. So how do you dispense it? Do I need to
use a different type of jar to keep it in? And if so, what? (I'm limited to
what I can get in national chains like Wal-Mart or K-Mart.)

First of all, if they are talking about true CS, then argyria has
  never

known to cause it in anyone or anything. In fact theory predicts
that

  true

CS will help prevent argyria if taken with silver compounds that

   caused it otherwise.

But even if it did, it seems to me the choice between a gray horse

I would think that dressing the wound with cloth saturated with CS
and
changed fairly often would be a good start. Also the addition of
some

  DMSO

Remember that preventing an infection by putting CS on a wound is
only

  part

of the story. The other part is that the ionic portion promotes
  healing
without scaring by triggering injured cells, and cells in a blood
