CSPurity of silver
I found this comment from one of the silver manufacturers : = http://www.handyharmancanada.com/hbpm/silver/silver.htm The uses of silver Silver is used for jewelry, coins and silverware. Other principal uses are electrical contacts, photographic processes, metal joining, silver paints and dental applications. The highest purity of silver commercially attainable is 99.95% (nominally considered 100%), but because of its softness and susceptibility to damage, silver is rarely used in pure form. = Would appreciate comments on the highest purity of silver commercially attainable: 99.95% ? Would appreciate comments on the highest purity of silver commercially attainable: 99.95% ? There must be a mistake, since we can buy 99.99% Canadian maple leaf silver dollar... I don't know what they mean by commercially attainable? We can get silver from scientific materials supply companies like Alpha/Aeser or Aldrich that go up to 5 or 6 nines, easily. It's not cheap, but silver is evidently not that hard to refine. Stuff like that is used in all kinds of scientific applications where ultra-purity is needed. Fortunately, even 3 nines (99.9%) purity is adequate for making CS in the 10 ppm range, as any impurities from the anode metal ought to be less than 10 parts per BILLION. Which means that impurities in your water ought to be more significant. Four nines is available and not much more expensive than 3 nines, if you feel you need the peace of mind. Be well, Mike D. CSnebulizer questions
I came across these instructions for using CS in a nebulizer. but he says to not put it in your mouth, but to breath deeply http://healingtools.tripod.com/CSN_vit.html How would you do that with kids? I don't think I could get my young ones to do it- I try already misting the cs in our faces and we make a game out of it ;-) Plus I can't remember and with the archives down- what particle size is optimum? There were a few other tips about nebulizers too but I cannot recall? I see a 'ducky' nebulizer on ebay, I was wondering hm. My 16 month old seems to have developed a bronchial type cough that has lasted 3 weeks. I've been using sodium ascorbate, oregano oil, cs, homeopathics, herbs, carrot juice etc. but it's still there. Sometimes dry, sometimes wet. Mostly it comes on after she falls asleep and when she wakes up. There doesn't seem to be any other symptoms except the odd crusty nose but I don't want to end up with a secondary! We know she is sensitive to a lot of things including dust, cat-dog-sheep hair so we have noticed perhaps the wood furnace and the dogs and cat as being irritants. We have yukky old carpets and we are debating taking up the livingroom one which is not glued down and just have the plywood for now. Now that the weather is getting nicer we can have windows open. Also our aranizer is away being repaired so that will help too when it returns. Anyhow, I was musing that the cs in the nebulizer might be quite effective. Anyone else use it with their kids?? RE: CSPlating small things
Thank you V, Ode, and Bob for your 3 responses. One was a bit light but potential, one a bit heavy industrial yet informative, and one that looks just right for my application. (3 bears reference) I wonder if the plating kit below, the silver kit, is mostly silver or made to be used to get a silver look (shiney, mirror) but with not much silver. I'll look into it. I want to silver plate some cheap jewelry that has mucho sentimental value but has irritating qualities from the metals used - nickel?? for my daughter. I was hoping someone would say a slight modification of an EIS system - using baking soda, vinegar, sodium hydroxide, wine yeast, a 2X4, and cast iron cooking ware :) you know...household or easily obtainable stuff. Bob, the constituency of the plating kits could be important to your application with regards to its conductivity. I used to have a 26 Columbia sailboat when I lived on Casco Bay in Maine. So using and keeping track of the zincs was important. But I had metal components on a fiberglass hull. Are you on salt water? How do you redo an aluminum hull? Do you use zincs or somesuch to protect your hull? Hi Pavel, You would want to dilute the DMSO with the EIS so that you are only using 10% DMSO/90%EIS to start with to see if you have reactions. I don't use more than a 30% DMSO solution on my skin personally and I'm a fair skinned blonde. We have some requirements the EIS to penetrate entirely and deeper to the skin and maybe deeper, uner the skin. I have noticed, that DMSO causes some skin problems as excema or allergic reactions. Can you help? DMSO will cause a localized histamine release. This is harmless, but annoying and itchy! As you continue to use the DMSO on the same location, the histamine reaction will eventually cease. Since the DMSO is also drying, it is helpful to follow up with a rich (and pure!) oil, such as emu, virgin coconut oil, or olive oil. Diluting the DMSO directly with EIS is great, but use a low dilution, perhaps starting with 20%. Sharon -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver. Pavel Hochmut Hi Pavel -- DMSO is 'not' a likely cause eczema or allergy. What you probably are experiencing is a redness-rash that is caused by the DMSO drying out the skin, which it does often do, depending on the sensitivity of the skin area on the body, (and depending on the individual person ... we are all different). If/when drying of the skin occurs, overcome the problem by applying a good skin moisturiser, or a suitable oil. I find Emu oil works well. Other oils that may suit could be pure cold-pressed coconut oil or olive oil. Hope this helps, Gunar -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver.
