[RCSE] Los Banos Sunday practice
From: JJ MJ [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2004 1:19 AM Subject: Los Banos Sunday practice Well lets give some F3f practice a second try, this coming Sunday @ 12:00 noon I will be at banos flying my f3f plane. If we get enough people (three) we can practice making turns. I am going to banos even if the conditions are marginal. It will take rain or a southern wind to cancel the trip. I will update people on Friday with the best guess on the conditions and you can decide for yourself. jj jim jacobson [EMAIL PROTECTED] RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Most fun plane
I would like to know what plane you had the most fun with. I admit my Boomerang was the plane I had most fun with. I can throw it in any slope condition I meet without worrying. Sometimes I ballast it when the wind is really blowing. My Boomerang lost its rigidity long time ago because it met earth, trees, etc. so many times... But it still flies fine. I will rebuild it or build a new one for next summer. I cannot consider living without one. -- Louis Cimon. 141 rue Mistral Beauport, QC Canada G1E 5V4 tél : (418) 664-1023 http://www3.sympatico.ca/louiscimon RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. RE: [RCSE] Most fun plane
Plane is a rather broad term. Depends on what you want to do with it. I'd say my FVK Aquila's are most fun, I have FIVE of them! But it's a powered plane and I've also had a heck of a lot of fun with my Artemus sailplane because upon going for my level1 LSF goal, I had a 35+ minute flight and ended up forcing the plane down. Something really fun about flying that long for the firs time with no power. I've yet to try slope - but that is another thing all together. So it's really going to depend on the application desired for the plane. -Original Message- From: Louis Cimon [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2004 5:52 PM To: RCSE Subject: [RCSE] Most fun plane I would like to know what plane you had the most fun with. [RCSE] Advertising - Specialized Low Volume Harnesses
As some of us are approaching the traditional time of year to build new models, I would like to remind folks that I offer high integrity plug-and-play wiring harnesses for all types of sailplanes. This is a low volume operation, aimed at those pilots who prefer tailored systems to meet their exacting needs. Every system is hand-built to your specific needs and configuration. Top quality military specification parts are used throughout, as well as assembly/crimping equipment specifically recommended by the OEM's to ensure quality performance. Some of the available options: * complete plug-and-play - no more hand manipulation of any connectors, just plug the wings on and go fly * Options - lead type and mass, connector plating, PWR distribution, signal buffering, EMI/RIF considerations, etc. All systems are tested and guaranteed, with quick turnaround (delivery when promised). I have been supplying systems to modelers and aerospace industry contracts for over ten years, with no less than 6 government and industry NDA's (consulting and one-off system-specific harnesses) in four countries. Systems level experiments utilizing 3, 6, and 10 meter anechoic chambers within model aircraft of different configurations (signal reciprocity within carbon fuselages, wings, various antenna profile plotting, ignition-equipped gas engines, electric propulsion, jet turbine ECM's/fuel systems, ISM and GSM/microwave/ up or downlink, GPS, etc) as well as real-world testing have been instrumental in determining what works at the system level on our models. The primary goal is to supply specialized systems that meet the exacting needs of those who find it difficult to produce adequate electrical connections of their own, or just don't have the time. This offering is meant more to help fellow pilots, as opposed to make money. If you are interested, contact me offline! Re: [RCSE] Most fun plane
Louis, that's an easy question for me to answer. I'd have to say I've had the most fun with my Weasel Pro. It was a very well designed kit with very complete and well written directions so that anyone can build this bird and have it flying in short order. I've flown mine is very low wind conditions and also 30mph winds with no ballast. I've had it specked out in thermals while on the slope. It packs small and can be in your back seat or trunk ready to fly or you can travel with it by removing the tail. It's rugged and can tank the punishment that a no pilot will give it. I don't know of a better kit for the money and I'm in the kit business myself. My only criticism is that it's not one of my products. I like this kit so much that I built three of them. Two for me and one for my son. That's easy, Bob Dodgson Pivot. Would fly in anything. Flew it HL, slope, thermal, etc. Started out about 18 oz, ended up almost 25oz after all the repairs. Re: [RCSE] Most fun plane
My most fun plane, you're going to gasp, was a Zagi 400X. Speed 400 powered and unafraid of circuits with the wing tips less than a foot off the grass. That stupid foam plane developed me as a pilot and prepared me for the pylon racers that I have grown to love. My favourite plane to date, however, was my Mini-Nyx E. I miss that plane more than any other, and have resolved to get another one before spring. Well, that or a fully flown F5F (10 cell F5B) ship. I killed my Mini-Nyx by forgetting to charge the rx battery after a couple of 25min+ flights. It's a terrible way to be reminded that not all of my electric powered planes are BEC equipped!!! I don't think I'll ever let go of my powered planes, but I can assure everyone that my glow power days are far behind me. If I ever get IC again, it'll be a gasoline burning Wilga, and that folks, is the soaring content for this post :) Dan Kitching - Original Message - From: Louis Cimon [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: RCSE [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2004 4:51 PM Subject: [RCSE] Most fun plane I would like to know what plane you had the most fun with. Re: [RCSE] Most fun plane
Guys, I think when I look at the most fun plane I have and best bang for the buck, I would have to say it is my original Fun One. The plane has been crashed and rebuilt at least a 3 or 4 times and now looks as good as new. Has to be the best $99.00 I have ever spent in this hobby. See Ya, Pat McCleave Wichita, KS I would like to know what plane you had the most fun with. I admit my Boomerang was the plane I had most fun with. RE: [RCSE] Most fun plane
To add to my original post - would it be most fun plane or most fun experience flying? The first flight of my huge Islander was a blast... and was one of my most memorable flights. Last time out hovering my PIGI was most fun... first thermal flight was most fun... So come to think of it - all the most fun I've had wasn't with the same plane! = ) -Original Message- From: Louis Cimon [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 25, 2004 5:52 PM To: RCSE Subject: [RCSE] Most fun plane I would like to know what plane you had the most fun with. [RCSE] Most fun plane
That's easy. It is my Winglet Spica. I designed the Spica in the fall of 1978 and it first flew in January, 1979. It's first contest was the LSF Tournament in Lockport, IL in 1979 and it's last contest was in 2-meter at the 1998 Nats. In the early 80s, it had no competition in two-meter while in the late 90s, it was no competition. Even so, my last win with the Winglet Spica was in Unlimited at the 1996 Airfoilers Spring contest to complete my contest win requirements for LSF Level V. After the 1998 Nats, I retired it after 20 years of contest flying and it now hangs from my shop ceiling. All it would need to fly again is a receiver and battery pack. Re: [RCSE] Most fun plane
For me it has to be the Houston Hawk. I designed it to teach building/covering techniques, and to be rugged for teaching some of the finer points of flying/landing. I guess the teaching part was the most fun, even though the model turned out to be rather competitive. I was so happy when I saw some guys that said they couldn't build or hadn't built ever coing to the field with completed models. I was able to pass on a gift the Fort Worth Planesmen passed on to me, when a couple of their members took me to contests and gave me building advise. I didn't have a father, and no way to get to a field or club meetings. Seeing other Hawks on the web and at the field is really special. That's something to really be thankful for Enjoy Jack Womack --- Louis Cimon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I would like to know what plane you had the most fun with. RE: [RCSE] Most fun plane
I had the most fun with a Silent Squadron Komet. It was won by a club member in the Phoenix raffle the last year they had it at Rodeo Park. The guy who won it didn't fly foam (his loss) and gave it to me since he had borrowed my ship for the contest and dinged it up a bit (and then fixed it stronger than it was -Genesis wing pylon-). I flew it in combat at the slope, bungeed it at the thermal field or anywhere else. I even taped a bunch of weight on it and flew it at Pt. Fermin. My brother just about took my head off with it the only time he tried to fly in the last 23 years or so. It met its fate on a bungee launch at the slope. When it hit the wind at the edge of the slope right after launch, it went flutter, flutter, BOOM! The wings folded and the fuse tore. I pulled the gear out and tossed it away after that.
