[RCSE] Question regarding 2.4GHz..Answer :-)
This is the same as with PCM, all you have to do is program a failsafe function to the channel you have your plane finder plugged into to fire the response. So if you are in Aux 4 for instance, program full travel the other direction, that way when the TX is turned off simulating a lost signal your device will trigger. Gordy In a message dated 3/24/2008 9:44:12 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: In the past on my 72MHz radios I have used a device in my planes which beeps when it loses the signal from the transmitter. This has been handy to find a plane in the woods and to signal me when the receiver is bad(saved one plane when the receiver was bad) This device plugs into a spare channel. The problem is that I have switched to the JR9303 2.4GHz radio but with its failsafe this device always gets a signal so it doesn't beep when I turn the transmitter off. Anybody experienced this? Is there something new that will work with the 2.4GHZ radios? Greg RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Looking for Carbon plate?
I have started work on my Dad's 1/3 scale Aronca C-3 and need to replace all the control horns. They are made out what looks like phenolic and it has deteriorated over the 30 odd years... So I'm looking for some pre-made Carbon sheet 1/8 or 3/16 thick 2 to 3 inches wide and maybe 1 ft long to cut new control horns and bell-cranks out of. So if you know of a supplier I would greatly appreciate it :-) This might be interesting to you... This is a 1/3 scale 35 pound airplane... I just got off the phone with George Steiner and he told me the old Kraft 4 wire servos that are in the plane are rated at 18oz of torque... 18oz of torque for a 1/3 scale plane and it flew just fine back in the day.. How amazing is that So if i put 40oz standard servos in it I'm improving it by a factor of over 2 .. :-) LOL :-) Craig

[RCSE] Re: 2.4 Questiion - Antenna Radiation Pattern
I believe the signal pattern on a 2.4 GHz system is the same as a 72 MHz system. Max signal is from the sides of the antenna. There is much less signal coming from the tip. Pointing your antenna at the plane is not recommended. Ed Anderson Dee Smith Wrote: > What kind of a pattern does the 2.4 tx antenna have? Is it sensitive to > > orientation like > a 72 Mhz tx? [RCSE] Re: 2.4 Question --- line of sight answered
We use lots of 2.4 on the railroad for lots of things. It is line of sight, which is why even a carbon canopy will give you trouble, sometimes. For me, a professional in the telecommunications world, I will stick to 72 Mhz and 50 Mhz for a while. I just don't get the rush to 2.4 with all the problems I've seen. Besides, as long as 72 is legal, there's lots of good gear for cheap... and I AM cheap. Not only that, but the 72 Mhz band is a whole lot less crowded already... :p Jack -- schrederman schrederman's Profile: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=13218 View this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=837110 RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Bright Sun Solution
Have you ever had to launch directly into the bright sun and found that even your sunglasses didn't work for you? Or have you had to thermal directly in the bright sun and lost your plane? Do what Miguel Tejada of the Astros does when he tries to shag a fly ball in the bright sun. Take another Human Growth Hormone Injection :) No, really. I found some flip-ups like the pro ball players use that fit to the bill of a cap. The bright daylight model is very dark and might work as a standalone for flying into a bright sun. I use them by keeping them flipped up while I wear my regular sunglasses and then flip them down if things get really bright. Check them out at: http://www.brimz.net I'm sure many of you have already discovered Zurich sunglasses, but for those that wear regular glasses and want a back-up fitover, or for someone looking for a really good dark sunglass check out: http://www.zurichsunglasses.com Good Stuff Don -- dharban dharban's Profile: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=31927 View this thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=835885 RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Breaking the 40 Spektrum Radio Barrier
Spektrum RC splits the 2.4 GHz band into 80 slices. When you turn on a Spektrum transmitter it takes two of these slices at its "channels" for talking to the receiver. It has long been expected that if you tried to turn on the 41st Spektrum system, it would not be able to lock with the receiver. Some people have been concerned about this at large contests. Well, in this month's month's FlyRC they ran a test. They turned on 44 Spektrum DX7s operated them all at once, in close proximity. They all seemed to work fine. Then they turned on a JR 9303 2.4 GHz, the 45th transmitter. Know what? They all worked, all at the same time, with no problems. The JR was being used to fly planes in a test pattern so any issues could be observed. No issues. They also were logging flight information on the Spektrum reporter. No problems. Seems the 40 radio limit is not a limit after all. [RCSE] Flap flutter and servos for Pike Perfect Flaps
Hi, I have a new 80 series Carbon Perfect with socks on all control surfaces. I was planning to use JR DS368 servos on the wing including flaps. I hear that DS3402s are preferred to prevent flutter? I note that the 368 is only 10% less powerful than the 3402 but does have a smaller case so is harder to mount stiffly. Flutter is usually a function of stiffness, Stiffer the flap and its linkages then the higher the flutter speed. I would try and tie the servo into both top and bottom skin to improve rigidity. Can I have some expert comment from those who have been there and done that including anyone who has had the dreaded Perfect Flutter (shower of carbon bits). Craig?? [RCSE] > 2 meter easy glider, 2.4 EVO, and Hi Starts...
Sounds like you have too much incidence on the h-stab of the Easy Glider. This is a common issue on this plane. If you have the RR version and the tail is taped in, try lowering the back a little. The stock hook position is optimized for hand towing rather than hi-start. You may wish to move the hook back a bit.
