Thank you, I just checked with MP3tag, and yes there is a VARIOUS
ARTISTS album, which had the Albumartistsort Tag „Beadle“
Running a clean rescan after deleting that tag solved the issue :-)

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Album Artist Various Artists shows up under letter B ?

2022-02-10 Thread Pommes

Dear Forum,

i have a strange issue with sorting of my Various Artists Compilations
in LMS.
For some Reason in Album Artists, my Various Artists shows up under
letter B, between "Bazuka" and "Beau Williams". Not under letter V as it
used to be.
In All Artists it shows up between "Beach Scorpions" and "Beams and
Strikes"
Not a bad issue, but strange. I think there must be a tag involved
like Albumartistsort or similar.
I did a clean rescan, but still the same issue.
When entering into Various Artists, it shows all my Compilations, so it
is working, not a bad issue, but i dont understand why Various Artists
show up under letter "B".
Anyone here, who could help me narrow it down?

Thank you

I am using raspberry four, with PIcorePlayer, I am using a 32 gig
microSD, I don’t think it is full. I can try to do a fresh install on a
raspberry 3, which I have here. But this will take some time.
It might be an issue, because of the plug-ins I am using? I am using a
lot of erlands plug-ins, like a tracksrating and sql playlists.
I will try to do a fresh install tomorrow and then I will let you know.
Thank you very much!

i tested with a library only containing this one album, and it quits
unexpetedly.
I run LMS on Picoreplayer, could you please let me know, how to download
the library.db? then i could send you that db.

I deleted that one file already, did a rescan, then installed the full
text search, and still it crashed, so I figured it must have been in one
of my playlists. I deleted my playlists, and now everything worked
flawlessly.

AMAZING!!!AWESOME!!!
Its working here, i can confirm by connecting touch wireless via iphone
hotspot to my home network.
I confirm to 48khz 24bit flac
The only problem i have:
even with
# Start openvpn
/usr/sbin/openvpn --config /etc/openvpn/touch.ovpn --daemon
in rcS.local
it doesnt connect.
Only after manually repeating this command via ssh, i can get that
connection.
I will try at work tomorrow with better wifi, might be a problem of
iphone hotspot.
But is s there a chance to delay rcS.local or rerun after for example 30
seconds after boot?

Thank you SO MUCH!

I have the latest custom firmware on touch, i downloaded
fab4-openvpn-2.4.10.tar.gz, i can ssh into touch and modify
/etc/init.d/rcS.local, but in which folder would i put the
fab4-openvpn-2.4.10.tar.gz, do i need to unzip it first? And where would
i put the .openvpn, and do i need to put the ca , key or crt or anything
else in some specific folder? And where do i put the user and password.
I know, a lot of questions but I hope i can get the answers here, i
really would like to try this:-)
some hints, please? and maybe i can find out the rest via google...

Thanks, regards

Wow, this sounds amazing.
Unfortunately I do not understand a lot of what you were saying because
I am not a linux pro.

If I have an open VPN config file and a key file etc., would this be
possible to connect my Touch via open VPN to my home network?
What would I need to do to accomplish?
Ralphy , I know you are very busy with all kinds of things, I hope
somebody else has the time to explain to me.
To me this sounds like very good news, so it might be possible to use my
touch remotely?
Thank you very much,

Nice idea, but I want to use the touch because of the screen, it is
convenient to handle.
I have a raspberry picore with open VPNclient, so I have a similar kind
of what you are describing, no need for the router itself then.
But thanks, actually a pretty good idea. Maybe I will just try it for
fun.

I just bought a gl-mt300n-v2.
I have openvpn server running on my synology nas and openvpn client
running on the gl-mt300n-v2.
Superb solution to connect to my music remotely.
And the gl-mt300n-v2 is powered by the usb of my Squeezebox Touch.
Totally recommend if you would like to use your Touch, and not the
raspberry with PicorePlayer, which does work too with openvpn.
Thanks for the hints!

Thanks, that might be a considerable solution for places where i could
access the router. Still a lot of fiddling involved.
Even Picoreplayer without physical access to the ethernetports of the
router is kind of hassle to connect to the wifi of that router.
The touch is so convinient to use, lets you scan the wifis via
touchscreen and Openvpn on a touch itself would be so much easier.

But thank you, at least an option to think about:-)

Right now I am taking my picore player with open VPN installed to my
workplace, to my friends place or to my fathers place.
I just connected to the Wi-Fi of that place, and it works perfectly, it
connects to my LMS at home, I do not have to configure anything on my
friends/works router.
at home I am running an asus router with open VPN server installed.
I didn’t try in a hotel or public place, but I think this might work as
well, and using open VPN should be safe to do?
I only have one picoreplayer with a touchscreen, but I have several
squeezebox touch which I do not use at this moment. And if somehow I
could install open VPN on those, I could just leave them at my friends
place or at work.
The LMS user has read and write privileges to the music share, but I
could change that to read only, and create an additional share for the
playlists.
But I think I will just take my Picoreplayer with open VPN, because I
don’t want to risk getting hacked, and maybe have some guy deleting all
my files on my nas.
Thank you.
I still have hopes, that somebody who has the skills will create an open
vpn client app for the squeezebox touch someday :-)

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Remote access to LMS: VPN, Port Forwarding, any tips?

2021-03-01 Thread Pommes

Dear forum members.
I have been asking similar kinds of questions before:
I have been able to use picoreplayer with open VPN to connect to my LMS
at home, it is working very well.
But I also have squeezebox touches and a Radio, on which open VPN is not
possible.
My LMS is running on a dedicated raspberry 4, the music is on a Nas,
accessed via NFS mount.
So I have a few questions:
Is it in theory possible, that somebody could create some kind of open
VPN client app, which one could install on the squeezebox touch and
radio itself?
If I open the LMS ports, so the touches can access LMS, what would I
risk? Would it be possible that somebody could delete all the music on
the NFS share?
If only the LMS itself would be at risk, I do not worry too much,
because I have a few back ups of the whole LMS system.
Would it be possible , that there would be some kind of Mac filter in
LMS, so only whitelisted devices could access the LMS in my home
network?
Please let me know if you have any other tips or insight regarding my
situation.
Thank you very much,
Regards Pommes

It is working now, heres the complete sql text, which works in Erlands
great Plugin SQL Playlist:

-- PlaylistName:DANCE PARTY
-- PlaylistGroups:
select tracks.url from tracks
left join dynamicplaylist_history on
tracks.id=dynamicplaylist_history.id and
dynamicplaylist_history.client='PlaylistPlayer'
join albums on
tracks.album=albums.id and
albums.title LIKE '%DANCE%'
OR

tracks.album=albums.id and
albums.title LIKE '%PARTY%'

where
tracks.audio=1
and dynamicplaylist_history.id is null
group by tracks.id
order by random()
limit 10;

Thank you for the right hint!

I tried on an older backup, and it is the same.
when i try with albums.title LIKE 'DANCE' it works, but when i try
albums.title LIKE 'DANCE' OR 'PARTY' , or try albums.title LIKE 'DANCE'
OR albums.title LIKE 'PARTY' (the same with %), LMS crashes and i have
to reboot.

But i am happy with creating just playlists, which i can use in dynamic
playlist. I can exactly achieve what i was looking for.
With LMS 8.1 on Raspberry pi4 i can create giant playlists without any
problems.
Of course it would be nicer to use sql, because then even new files
fitting the search would show in the generated results,
maybe someone with the sql knowledge can let us know how to do it the
right way, to use OR/AND in sql coding...
Thank you

As soon as i try to put in OR and then save, LMS stops working until i
reboot. Log file is empty after reboot.
Saving without the OR ( only putting in one album name) works.
I will just try to set up a fresh install and try again.

If i try to use customize sql in sql playlist, what would i need to use
for OR?

For example i use: albums.title LIKE '%PARTY%' , this gives me the list
of albums including the letters PARTY.
But if i would like a list of albums including PARTY OR DANCE, what
would i need to use?
Maybe you know this?
I tried '%PARTY%'||'DANCE'
but that didnt work:-(

i just decided to go ahead without library views, it is easy to just
queue several artists into a big playlist and save that playlist.

I did a clean rescan last night, and yesterday I used LMS to stream to

So as long as you do not connect anything to the PI four USB, I think it
is safe to use without the power supply, just powering it by the USB of

Raspberry PI four arrived, and I tried both, clean Picore 7beta , and
the 6.1 Image from my old raspberry 3.
Memory usage set to maximum, both scans were successful.
Performance wise I could not see any differences between picoreplayer 7
which is 64-bit and the 6.1.
The scan time was comparable to the PI three in high memory mode.
But the PI four utilized the complete 8 GB of RAM during the scan, on
both versions.
So actually, because the scan time was the same as on the old machine,
I cannot see any improvement.
But I will keep the PI four as the server for now, and see how stable it
will be running.
Thank you very much,

I did try a full rescan last night,
when i woke up, the LMS Squeezeserver was not running anymore.
I restarted LMS, and again its hang on Database Optimization.
The Scan File is empty:-(

When running the scan on High Memory, it is almost the same speed as on
Maximum, scanning around 1000 Tracks per minute, but on maximum it is
not finishing.

When setting to High memory, LMS runs super stable and snappy, even with
my huge library, much better than before on my Synology.

I will send you the scan file in Private Message, because it includes
Spotify information of my sisters account, but i think it is useless,
because i think LMS restarted during scan...
Thank you all so much, i will donate a beer via paypal to you and to the
Picore crew.
And as LMS runs super stable and snappy in High mode, maybe ignore my
problems with the Max memory, i dont want to waste your time anymore:-)

Best regards
Pommes

I am very sorry for having missed the scan file. Maybe I can go ahead in
the next few days and try again.
Even with memory on high, it did not finish the scan, it’s canceled
unexpectedly on database optimization.
The memory usage was always this high.
I had to restore my old image, and this one runs fine.
With this image, the memory usage is the same.
I also went ahead and ordered a raspberry PI 4.

Its done
This time the Media scan terminated unexpectedly during artist picture
lookup.
Attached is the serverlog.
I am trying to finish the scan in High, not maximum performance.

The memory didnt change much during the whole scanning procedure:

Mem: 983680K used, 15360K free, 119872K shrd, 1320K buff, 327964K
cached

sirq
Load average: 1.80 1.36 1.27 4/131 11904

I am considering a pi4 now, but if the pi3 will run stable by scanning
in High Mode, i will stick with it

Thank you very much

Ready to hit the button,
i set the Performance to maximum and the logging to
Info (database.info) - Metadata & Parsing Logging

What about the scan logs? they are set to error right now, is this ok?

And a complete clear and rescan is what we want, right?

I will observe my existing PI three, and check if it is running stable.
A full rescan is not necessary very often, and I like the fact that the
PI three uses less energy than the PI four, but if there should be any
problems again, I think I might buy a PI four.

Thank you all so much for your help.
My library is not giant, it’s monstrous. Over 200,000 tracks, a lot of
spoken word, loops and samples, though. I did change the performance

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] PicorePlayer LMS Media scan terminated unexpectedly and then rescans randomly

2020-12-16 Thread Pommes

Dear Forum,
i try to run LMS on Raspberry Pi 3 with picorePlayer, but i get an error
every time i try to scan my library:
Database Optimize (1 of 2) Complete 00:05:37
Media scan terminated unexpectedly (Scanning Progress)
unfortunately LMS just starts to rescan the library randomly then, LMS
gets unresponsive and i can't listen to my music.
I tried a complete reinstall of picore, but still the same.
Attached is the Scanner log file, i really hope that somebody can help
me here again, having updated my Synology to DSM7 is a total
nightmare:-(

Thank you

Thank you very much, Robert, the -a did the trick for me.
I edited the file and included /usr/local/slimserver in the list.
Now after reboot i still have the awesome Erland TrackStat and

Thank you.
Unfortunately, there is no /opt/.filetool.lst
Do i have to create this file manually and then edit it and add
/usr/local/slimserver/Plugins to this list?
I wish there was an easier way, when adding plugins the usual way via
the webif of LMS, they stay after a reboot...

Dear members,
Unfortunately I updated my Synology to DSM7.
DSM7 does not run logitech media server anymore, so I installed picore
with lms on a raspberry3.
I love Erlands plug-ins, but you can only install them manually.
I tried with this command:

scp -r /Downloads/CustomClockHelper
tc@192.168.9.165:/usr/local/slimserver/Plugins/CustomClockHelper

the plug-ins show up after restarting LMS, but after a reboot of the
raspberry they disappear. Can anybody help please?

Thank you

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8 Album Art partialy not showing

2020-09-04 Thread Pommes

Hello,
i am running LMS 8 on synology.
For some reason some of my Album Art is not showing.
Actually it is my Vinylrips not showing Album Art on SB Touch nor Ipeng,
but it is showing in the webbrowser, but only in the queue, not in the
transport window, nor song info window.
I am pretty sure it used to show in LMS 7.9, is there any setting or
trick to show the Album Art for my Vinylrip Flacs?
Thank you, regards
Pommes

I like to use DSTM with last mix, but sometimes I just would like to
listen to some genres of my own collection.
Of course it is possible to exclude and include genres in the random mix
settings, but the random mix settings are globally for all players and
it is just easier to use the Shortcuts of random playlists..
Now as we found out, that adding the custom random playlist to an
existing playlist does exactly what I want, it queues one song after
another, only including my own music. And if I want to use the random
seed for Spotify for example, I just play the random playlist, not
adding it.
Thank you for everyone helping me to find out about this. This gives me
a convenient and very flexible way to use it the way I like it.
LMS and this community here rules! Thank you all!

Well, if some people here could please enter
“randomplay://track?genres=Jazz,Rock” into their favorites and disable
DSTM?
Is this generating an endless Jazz and Rock mix on your system?
On my system it plays only 10 tracks...
If it’s just me, I might consider complete new installation...
Thanks

When i start a random songs from within random mix, it does exactly what
I am looking for: it always adds one song after one song has finished.

But I would like to have the exact same behavior for my random playlists
i created. But they don’t add any tracks, only the first batch of 10
Tracks and then nothing more, if DSTM is disabled.

Yes i tried that, but its actually the opposite of what i pursue.
I would like to have custom random playlists like
"randomplay://track?genres=Jazz,Latin" adding songs in random mode but
not by DSTM.
On my system DSTM always kicks in, only the random mix adds tracks
itself without DSTM, but not my own random playlists like
randomplay://track?genres=Jazz,Latin.

i tried =1, =0, =1 and =0.

But all the time it is DSTM which kicks in, with DSTM disabled, i get a
random playlist of 10 tracks, and thats it.

I just tried again, with dontContinue=0 and continue=1 and without that
command.
no matter what, but it is DSTM, which adds tracks at the end of my
playlists.
Could you explain, or send me a link, how to use the dontcontinue
command and other commands i could try?
Thank you

I added dontContinue=0, and now it does add a random mix item at the end
of the playlist after 10 songs. This item starts a new random mix of the
included genres. As soon as this new playlist starts, after every song a
new song gets added to the playlist.
Thanks a lot!

It sounds silly, but I cannot find this setting anywhere in the web ui .
I cannot find random play, only random mix. And there is “Add new
tracks...” is activated. So when I play a random mix, new tracks are
added. But when I play my presets which are also random, no new track
are added.

Hi Michael, thank you again for your help. But I cannot find any setting
for the random play. Could you give me a hint, please?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] New in 7.9.2: Presets editor

2020-08-09 Thread Pommes

Hello,

I created presets, for example:
randomplay://track?genres=Jazz,Reggae,Latin,R%26B,Afro
This starts a random playlist of Jazz,Reggae, R and Afro.
It queues 10 songs, after that DSTM kicks in and queues new items with
the help of LastMix.

But is it possible, to not let DSTM kick in, but let LMS Random feature
continue to queue the songs?
I would rather use the standard random feature, because LastMix would
take 5 random songs as seeds, and this could lead to a loss of a
genre...
Of course i can use the Random mix feature and include/exclude genres,
but this is changing it for all players, globally. While the presets are
player specific.

I hope you can understand what i mean. I hope someone can help me.

Thank you very much

Hello and thank you so much for providing this great software for us.
I just installed version 8.0 on my Synology ds418j.
It runs perfectly so far, but one thing changed here, compared to
7.9.2:
In 7.9.2 all my various artists CDs showed up in compilations.
Now in version eight compilations is empty.
The CDs are not tagged as compilations, but the album artist is various
artists.
I did not change anything, could someone maybe help me to make these CDs
show up in compilations again?
Just a small minor issue,, thanks a lot.
