There are other programs that can do this, like Soundiiz, but it's a multi-step process and it would be great if the Qobuz/Spotify APIs allowed this kind of playlist export/copying directly from LMS back to the service itself. I would like to be able to copy or "export" some of my LMS playlists directly back to Qobuz and Spotify as playlists on those services, so I can listen to them on the go. I realize this can get complicated if an LMS playlist includes local music, but maybe the process would be simpler if such an export ignored local music or music from other services besides the service the playlist is being exported back to. export/ There are other programs that can do this, like Soundiiz, but it's a multi-step process and it would be great if the Qobuz/Spotify APIs allowed this kind of playlist export/copying directly from LMS back to the service itself. Any thoughts? Have you ever thought about managing music sources like Neutron Player on Android? I find that very logical and think that this could also be an option for LMS. A playlist can e.g. normally not be destroyed because almost everything behaves like a playlist. It's hard to explain how this works. No actually after looking at my log, it appears that these errors begin after a considerable amount of time has past after a server restart. I will watch the log more carefully now, to verify this. I don't see this at all, but I do use a personal Spotify Client ID. I've seen it, too. In my case it happened wheneve I invalidated the cache and a playlist with Spotify tracks (many of them) was queued up on some player. Is it reasonable to add the option to exclude music services to the "My Music" Advanced Search feature? This way, even if music service collections have been merged, they could still be skipped if the user wants to do a search for things in his local library. I remember why I ditched a Pi3 as a production server now!! Its not even my entire library but only one folder! But most of the time is spent in MAI's artist artwork lookup. If you had a local folder for the artwork (or a copy of images), that would be much faster. Only when MAI tries to find the images online it'll spend all that time searching. I have loads of apparent duplicates in my own library. A miniature icon at top right of the album cover depicting the provider is a sensible idea. If they really are unwanted duplicates then it will be up to the user to delete one. I would NOT import followed artists. Ah! So, would this *only* affect albums listed under an Artist? Would Ha! I didn't even think about the regular albums list... but yes, it's only shown for an artist's album list (because it's basically "show me more of this artist"). That said, it's all still in a state of flux. I'm toying around, trying to figure out how to do things best. Eg. the current implementation I have would only show that link if the artist had an album from a music service, but not if it was all local albums. That should be improved etc. As for handling duplicates, is this really required? The local version Not sure. It's certainly not on top of my priority list. Most people likely won't have more than one streaming service anyway. And why Spotify is showing me two different albums for one album which you'd only find once if you searched for it, I don't know. and the version on the music service could be different - different release, encoding quality, etc. Instead of removing duplicates, why not add a flag stating where the album is from? That way a control point could add a small icon over the album cover indicating that its from (e.g.) Spotify. That's an idea I wanted to explore indeed. So, an LMS 'user' would configure the plugins with their account details. The brows-modes, and favourites, ideas were just an extension of that. Not sure if we are misunderstanding each other, what I’m suggesting is that you should look at which albums I’ve set up as favorites in the online service (Spotify, Qubuz, ...) and import the tracks from these albums into LMS. Ok, we're on the same page then. That's pretty much what I'm doing in the Spotty plugin: get the user's albums and store its tracks in the library. Feel free to submit a pull request - and make sure you're willing and able to maintain the feature for the foreseeable future. Seriously: I'm open for new features. But as long as I'm the only one working on this we'll have to live with what my little sparetime allows. And as I don't really see a need for user management beyond music services (my kids will never buy music), this feature hasn't even made it on my already long bucket list. BTW: I believe you should already be able to use per control-point libraries etc. as you're not using SlimBrowse anyway. The main music service account would be linked to the user, the list of browse modes could be per-user (instead of per device), the list of favourites could also be per-user. I believe this would be ok for people with small libraries. But once you have a few hundred or thousands of albums added to your collection, the Favorites mechanism wouldn't really be useful any more. The way I've implemented it for now is to import them like local tracks. Isn’t the “more of this artist on XYZ” the same thing as the already existing “On Spotify: ” context menu for Spotify? Almost identical indeed. But I wanted to have it closer to my navigation: in order to get that menu from the album level, you'd have to bring up an album's info menu and select that item from far down the list. My idea was to have it like a "Show more..." item in the album list (see screenshot above). Plus that would go directly to the artist's menu, rather than just trigger a search on the service. Id love the feature, this is one of the things we wanted to accomplish
in the now dead SMD (socialmusicdiscovery.com) project a long time ago.
Should definitely only include favorite albums, Id prefer if it

Isnt the more of this artist on XYZ the same thing as the already

I think a context menu like this would be good enough as a way to jump

I don't mind if the query is not under the 'normal' Albums query and is
in its own category, just as long as it can be queried somehow other
than iteratively parsing menus ;) Maybe add a 'musicservice' query or
some such?

I don't use SlimBrowse because I cannot get extra meta-data, or control
album sort orders, etc - there is not (AFAIK) much that can be altered
with SlimBrowse commands. So, yeah it'd be nice for these extra actions
to also be (optionally, I guess) added to the JSONRPC 'albums' command
response. e.g. add 'extra_commands_loop:[ {text:'More on Spotify',
command:['spotty', ]}, {...}]'
I fully agree that whatever is created needs to be able to work with
jsonrpc - Alexa skills rely on that.
I think it's the wrong way. To have a link to a music service as part of
an album list sounds wrong. I'll have to think about an alternative way
to get those links. But they will not be part of the albums query
response. You can get the "external ID" for a track/album/artist using
the corresponding query, though.

That is what I'd assumed you would do as well. I was just asking for it to be trivial for a control point to determine that this was an action, and not (e.g.) another album in the album list. e.g. add an "action:play-all" property. Can you tell me where I'd find the code which does this filtering? The current implementation would indeed hide my additional items. Will you be It's a raw POC implementation. making this available as a beta (8.0.1?) so that some of us can test and I'll probably start with 8.0.0 :-D. But yes, I told myself a year or two ago already that the day I'll manage to "merge" remote and local libraries I'll call it LMS 8. My plan is to finally "release" 7.9.2, have 7.9.3 with bug fixes only, and concentrate work on a new LMS 8 branch. Craig can get it working in Material? Material caches the artist and album lists (but not lists of albums by an artist), and uses the 'LMS last scan time' to know when the cache is invalid. If artists from online services are to be merged, I'd need someway of knowing when my cache is invalid. Optimizing updates isn't in LMS responsibility (except for the services built-in). But it's a big challenge indeed. We don't want to hammer music services every few minutes just to update when there's no update at all. I am trialling both at the moment and tbh its 50/50 as to which I will choose long term. If one is the subject of the proposed integration and the other isnt, then that will be the deciding factor.
