Maybe a different approach to install, ie create temp dir for install files, download what it needs, verify whatever it has to, before writing to the live directoryor something,,,u know where this is going. Point being from a practical standpoint that leaves only fproxy for FEC inserts especiall alrge ones and when it fails fcp for a non-redundant inset which now of course gets a bitch message from fproxy. There's frost but thats its own ugly story, and other than fproxy working consistently not freenet problems but 3rd party. But there ya go. Other tools such as fish and fcptools are more stable, in fact i found fcptools to work better now with whatever you've done. Basically things are pretty good, but dont pour the press the good stuff, give them lots of Ballentines poured from Glenlivet bottles and save the good stuff for yourselves. I took your suggestion to try other JVM's, looks like KAFFE is linux only so i'm currently using IBM's 1.3.1 which seems a little faster but i still get the divide by zero error on manifest redirect insertion thru the web interface. I've been getting this since about build 495 or there abouts, sometimes it does work. I'm running XP Pro ver 2002 with Sun Java Jre1.4.1. I put a clean instalation of JAva and freenet on another machine and get the same thing. Also I did have J2re1.4.2 for awhile and got heisenbug creation and backed off to 1.4.1, i note 1.4.2 is no longer available for download. A few funy things, when i insert with freenet.client.main i cannot retrieve the key thru the gatway, and get a zzero length file, but if i select view source it follows the redirect and displays the key. Fcpget and freenet.client.main get the key ok. FCPtools work ok but are slow as all hell for some reason. Fish 308 suddenly works again, but on retreval through the gateway sometimes works but usually get the discussed array out of bound error due to splitfile handling, but the split file meta looks ok, then i'm no expert. And again the splitfile retrieves ok with fcptools. So with each build its always a different combination to get content in. Sometimes fixing the meta data and redirect and inserting them raw but i dont like doing that. That wont do you any good freeweb hasn't been updated in a very long time. No it doesn't handle large files or a large number of file. What you can do, which is what I've been atempting not sucessfully for months but the new datastore should help once all the other problems are fixed, is insert your large file seperately from your site and just reference them with URI on the site. ie instead of inserting big file with the site [EMAIL PROTECTED] do this instead the slash tell it that its an external link and then insert the file seperately some other way, and other ways seem mostly broken, with the new changes. Use SSK's of course and you know htl=0 inserts into your local node. When i try through the web interface I get an arithmetic error returning when it tries to insert the split file manifest for larger files. Data and check blocks inserted. inserting SplitFile metadata... Fishtools is broken for the i guess for the same reason as that's when it seems to hang so it looks to me like something to do with FEC and block over 256 There's Frost but then you have a reference to a CHK and you're locked into Frost in some ways. Java command line says it works, but then can't get it back. Then there's FCPTools which still seem to work, I'l be finding out today if i can insert several gig still with them today. Thats' where I'm at.
