Menu Wizard

2016-10-01 Thread Roger Fink
I assume some readers here use Menu Wizard, as I do, to tame the the
various drop down and context menus of SeaMonkey.

It works great, except that from the earliest version to the latest,
5.03, I have never been able to get the Tab Context Menu settings to
work. In the set-up options, all seven of the menu items are
"hard-checked", so your option is to either show all of them when you
right-click a tab, or by unchecking the "Tab Context Menu" category
heading eliminate right-click-on-tab entirely.

I'm wondering this is typical for other users or if there could be some
problem specific to my installation.

Again, how about you in your received copy's _source_.

How are you separating the addresses in your Compose window? Manually on

Oh. Well then, which addon is causing it? :-) Might be your address

A possible solution to this on Windows (outside of SM) is to visit
http://www.adobe.com/licensing/distribution/strategies/sms.html
click the download link (of interest) ending in "SCUP.cab"
You should now be able to extract the XML file from the CAB file using 7-Zip
Inside the XML file are the links to the MSI files, see the "OriginUri"

The bcc list of addresses should indeed be visible to you in the as-sent
copy of the message. If you also send a copy to yourself, the bcc list
should be hidden in the as-received copy (as indicated by Richard Alan).

Yes David and Richard, I am well aware that BCC are always visible to

Java is installed separately from SeaMonkey, and SeaMonkey doesn't
install it on your computer. Installing Java is something you would
have

to do yourself. Assuming you're on Windows, you should see in the
Windows Control Panel, and be able to uninstall it from there.

I don't think you should worry about any sites requiring Java. I
uninstalled it around 10 years ago, and haven't had a need for it. The
websites you visit may be different, but it's a very safe assumption
that you won't need it.

Chris, if you were to go to a site which "required" Java to function the
way the developers wanted it to work, would you likely get some message
asking you to turn on ("Click Here") Java for "best User interaction"??

Or would you just get a basically blank/black page??

Depends on what the page/app is and how it's built.

Set the Java plugin to "ask to activate" and go here to see what happens:

For me, this is the result:

When I activate it, I got a pop-up "Java Application Blocked"
Blocked by Java Security.

There's a reason good consultants get paid so much :)

Even at an overview level for html/css/javascript, everything decent
I've seen assumes a level of background knowledge that a pastor &/or
board of deacons probably don't have.

getting back to what you're interested in::

Had a discussion with Pastor and realized how little we both knew about
 planning a
site. He had mentioned the inverse of your point about mobile vs computer
 oriented
site. There was a site that looked good on his laptop but was painful to
 use on his
smart phone. Is there a site covering that issue for lay people?

Try searching on "user interface design". There's a huge difference
between a large screen desktop/mouse UI and a small touch screen UI -
especially how large the link area has to to be on a touch screen vs.
how small the link area can be when using a mouse to click on links.

If you don't want to do something like redirecting smart phone users
to a 'mobile optimized' version of the site you're looking for someone
with some serious knowledge of CSS & web site design. see, for
example,
  http://sixrevisions.com/web_design/a-guide-on-layout-types-in-web-design/
and take a look at some web design/layout sites like

https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/01/10-principles-of-effective-web-design/

+1
Look for sites that you like and think about what they did right/wrong

http://fpcp.org/
I have the noscript & request policy addons, so all I see is a mostly
blank page with a few links and _zero_ useful information. I have to
scroll down a page to see the worship & events info and scroll down
yet another page to see the phone # & address. I'd suggest this is a
good example of how not to do it

http://www.shadysidepres.org/
Join us on Sunday for worship at 11:00 a.m., Upcoming Events, Sermons
& Live Webcast, address, phone #, "New to Shadyside?" link, site map
link and search field -- all on the first page; no clicking/scrolling
required _and_ all that with noscript/request policy enabled. I
suspect they had at least some professional help with their design &
layout.

After you find a few church sites you like, give them a call. They'd
probably be happy to give you some tips, references, "what I wish I
knew before we started this project" info, etc.

Hi,

When I go to "Tools: Addons Manager : Plugins" there's an entry for
"Shockwave Flash", but it doesn't work. I'm not sure if it ever worked.

"Flash Player Plugin 22.0.0.192 to 22.0.0.211 (click-to-play) has been
blocked for your protection."

I know I can install it via the operating system, but I don't like the
official web based Adobe installation process.

It's blocked because that version is out of date. Current version is
23.0.0.162. You can try Check for updates in the add-ons manager. If
that doesn't work your only alternative is to go to the Adobe site and
use their process.

Yes, I'd been using the old URL to get to the MSI files, but they've

Or would you just get a basically blank/black page??

Depends on what the page/app is and how it's built.

Set the Java plugin to "ask to activate" and go here to see what happens:

But Bugger, at other times, when I've gone to Tools->Add-On

So, this time, the Java test page told me I had Java 8U101 installed,

[SM 2.39] Return does not work anymore in address bar

2016-10-01 Thread BERTRAND Joël

Hello,

I use Seamonkey 2.39 on a diskless FreeBSD 10.3 workstation. Yesterday,
/home was full (due to a user log file). I suppose seamonkey has broken
my profile as it was not able to write it.

Now, all but address bar work as expected. I can enter an URL, but
enter key doesn't work anymore. If I create a new profile, seamonkey
works fine.

How can I fix this issue ?

Best regards,
