Have you not seen the "Weird problem with Google" thread opened 14 hours before

Same problem has recently occurred using SeaMonkey 2.48 on a Mac, updated to
2.49.4 same error occurs.

Suggested work around in above thread, to disable SM's user agent string option not to advertise Firefox compatibility does correct the error but not a solution as that too
causes problems accessing some sites.

It's a Google glitch not SeaMonkey, Duck Duck Go search works correctly.

When I visit the ABC iview website (iview.abc.net.au, probably only works for Australians) it displays "click to activate Adobe Flash" even though I have selected "always
activate for this site" in the past. If I click the blue brick icon that is now showing up and select "always activate for this site" it doesn't activate automatically at
all. My Flash player version is 29.0.0.113 (the latest Adobe shows on their site) and until very recently it worked just fine but now its acting weird (and no I am not
viewing things in a private browsing window).

Is there some way I can just tell SeaMonkey "hey, I dont care about all the warnings and stuff, I just want Flash to always work on this particular site when I visit it"?
(or alternatively if someone knows of a way to get the desktop version of the website to serve me HTML5 rather than Flash, that's also a suitable solution)

Also having same problems which only occurred after I downloaded the latest Adobe update. I'm assuming the problem is between the latest flash upgrade and iView. Like you I
have never had this problem before and have always had flash player to only activate for iview.

this, I was going to sit back this (Saturday) afternoon and watch Part One (which I missed last Friday) of the series on my Laptop!

Too easy!! Just go to the ABC's iView website, select the Part One, http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/ice-cream-girls/ZW1056A001S00, and away I go. This site may be Region
Blocked for you guys, but that's O.K., 'cause my problem is that, when I clicked on the program, I get a quick page telling me I need "to activate Adobe Flash".

When I go to about:plugins, I see listed at the bottom of that page, Path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_25_0_0_171.dll which, apparently, works for Adobe
Flash movies and will work for FutureSplash movie (whatever they will be!!).

That "activate Adobe Flash" page very quickly disappears and is replaced by a
screen stating .
"Error loading media: File could not be played.

Sorry there is a problem with this video.
We could not load the video stream you requested".

Is my Adobe Flash not able to play this T.V. program?? Or is there something
else I need to be doing??

TIA

I'm a regular ABC iView viewer using SeaMonkey on a Mac.

I have my Adobe Flash set to 'Ask to Activate'

Go to Tools / Add-ons Manager / Plugins (Blue lego icon) You can choose; 'Ask
to Activate' 'Always Activate' 'Never Activate'

When I go to a site which requires Flash I receive a message to activate. I
click on the blue lego icon that appears at the beginning of the URL to get the
activate option

With ABC iView I have it set to always open.

Hope this helps, although there may be differences between our operating
systems.

Are they definitely Flash videos? If you right-click it, does the menu include Flash settings? (I can't check exactly what the menu item is called, as I don't have Flash
installed)

It may be that you're getting HTML5 video, which is played within the browser without needing any plugin. Some sites serve either Flash or HTML5 video depending on the
browser - so they may be giving you HTML5 for SeaMonkey (hence disabling Flash makes no difference) but Flash for Safari (hence disabling Flash has the expected effect).

Thanks, that would explain the the difference between the two browsers.

Hi Walt,

Thanks for the reply. No, here are my Extensions and Plugins:
Ext: Chatzilla, DOM Inspector, JavaScript Debugger
Plugins: Adobe Acrobat, Flip4Mac, GameTap, Garmin Communicator, Google Earth,
iPhoto Photocast, Java Applet, Microsoft Office Live, QuickTime, Sharepoint
Browser, Shockwave Flash, Shockwave for Director, Silverlight

One option I would take is if there is any version that I could use to remove
the master password, I could install that, remove the master, then upgrade to
the current version.

Thanks for your response,

Is it possible that you set a preference variable to indicate Firefox 36 and
forgot to change it?

Or is it possible that you have a UA-changing extension that needs updating?

Go to [Edit > Preferences] on the SeaMonkey menu bar, select [Advanced > HTTP

I'd like to say this work around works for me with the
alt.binaries.pictures.scenic newsgroup, but it doesn't on my Usenet-News
account. Could it be my news server? All I see is Downloading articles
1-1 in alt.binaries.pictures.scenic in the status bar, and no activity
on my DSL router.

It works with images posted in the mozilla.test.multimedia newsgroup.

And now it is working in the alt.binaries.pictures.scenic newsgroup.

Occasionally working. Sigh. Just use Thunderbird, they load instantly.

Is there a Bugzilla bug filed? If so, what status is marked against it?
This has gone on for how long now? I'd almost say that the developers
have no interest in fixing this particular bug. Almost as they may have
other more important bugs to work but this one is approaching major
irritant status and is blocking a lot of folks from upgrading including me.

Right-click choose Properties - Change Icon button. Select an icon.

On the active icon there's no such option.

The strange thing is I start Seamonkey normal, and it opens with my
normal browser homepage.
Right-clicking on the icon in the task bar, somehow shows Seamonkey
Mail
as the top of the 3 items listed in the bottom (Seamonkey Mail, pin to
task bar, close all windows).
So somehow starting normal with browser, opening the browser...
Seamonkey thinks I'm in Seamonkey Mail.

Mark

Oops. Sorry, I was reading too fast. I was thinking of the icon in the
Quick Launch toolbar.

If you go to Edit - Preferences - Appearance what is checked under
When
SeaMonkey starts up, open?

Browser is selected at that option.

If only Browser is checked the only other way I can think that a mail
window is opening is a shortcut in:

C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup

Also, in about:config you should check that general.startup.mail is set
to false.

In about.config all was set as normal and as expected, only browser was
set to true.

Seamonkey was not found in my startup folder, but in the programs
folder, I now removed the shortcut to mail (leaving normal browser,
profile manager and safe mode shortcuts in tact).
Restarting SeaMonkey... shows my beloved seamonkey icon again.
Very strange phenomenon, but all seems back to normal I guess.

Thanks for thinking along.

Mark

One more addition.
If I put the shortcut back in that directory (restore back form the
trashcan), the same problem reoccurs, starting basic seamonkey (browser)
shows the wrong icon of mail/news

In the SeaMonkey root -- the folder where SeaMonkey itself is installed,
not a profile folder -- find the folder named chrome. Navigate down:
[chrome icons default]. On the folder's menu bar, select [View
Large Icons]. There should be an .ico file named main-window.ico.

Is that icon what you expect? Its image might appear smaller than some
of the others, but that is not important.

Yes,
That's exactly the one I expect, the normal SeaMonkey logo.
But it shows the messengerWindow.ico

PROGRAM INCOMPATIBILITY....

2014-01-05 Thread M. Randolph Kruger

Downloaded the latest version Seamonkey...2.23. Loaded fine, brought it
up fine. Program when I enter any sort of video locks up... adobe
failure. So for the last 4 days I have worked the adobe problem and then
decided it wasnt adobe. All of the other programs worked but the second
I went to Fox or tried to play a saved program, it locked... Just as it
did when seamonkey tried to do it.

Documentation-A lot of it and I eliminated problems 1x1 by changing
parameters and then running it. On a suggestion by an adobe
administrator he suggested I go to werfault and see what happened when I
ran it and then allowed it to by pass all of the known programs. Punched
it in and now its working. So, for OLDER programs I might be using the
program compatibility issue will come up. Some of the videos are older,
some newer but 2.23 doesnt shift gears to load the program, it just
locks and says please come fix me. The same will happen with Seamonkey
mail as well. It forgets what its doing and locks up. Please come fix me.

I remember somewhere reading that there could be issues with this from
the 2.19 documentation but that should jump right to the werfault and at
least advise a compatibility issue. A lot of people will dump Seamonkey
if they are encountering it. No wonder.

Not sure if you dont want to run it to the werfault and have it advise,
OR do you automatically do it and change the program. It appears to be
working fine in compatibility mode.

So I'm wondering if others are having this issue. In hindsight I should

Not for a very long time (Knocking on desktop). Looking at my return
address you will see a real live mail address. The folks managing this
form have somehow gotten rid of the ,ail harvesters (RidEx maybe).

Your e-mail address can be harvested from many sources and hten sold to
the SPAM senders on a CD. Some of the more likely resources for
harvesting are:

Your own e-mail server.
Your own web site where you listed your e-mail address and not hiddent
it from Spambots.
A mel form where your mail address is behind the viewable page, and not
reserved on the web server.

Any web site form where you have to enter a valid e-mail address.

How to get rid if it? Its too late now.

How to prevent it for the future (May take a year or more from today).
Create a junk mail account on your current server, Gmail.com, or any
free mail server. Use that address for any time you have to use a real
e-mail address. This one is easy to trash all unwanted messages.
Later, for wanted messages go to the original web site and update your
e-mail address to your preferred address.

If you have a web site your e-mail address must be hidden from the
Spambots with a script.

If your web site has a contact form your e-mail address must be
contained within the script on the server, and the server directory must
have access permissions set to only allow you to write and your web page
script to send data to the server.

Richard,

Have you taken a look at MozBackup?

With this little progam you can select which parts of the profile to
backup, save the backup file.

Then, un-install all current versions of SeaMonkey, and all remaining
files and folders left behind. (Hint; just for safety don't remove the
profile folders, just rename them to something else like profileOLD)

Once SeaMonkey is totally removed install a fresh copy of the latest
version you want, after install is complete, up and running, and tested
for your needs, close SeaMonkey completely and run MozBackup to recover
the saved profile.
When the saved profile is complete open SeaMonkey and select Change
Profile, select the saved profile that has been backed up. Be sure you
check the box to use the new profile at start-up.

Richard,

Have you taken a look at MozBackup?

No as I had not heard of it - everything Mozilla always worked so well I
never had to worry.
I just Googled and brought up the relevant pages - looks nice.
P.S. - I've regularly told OTHER people to do backups ;/

With this little progam you can select which parts of the
profile to backup, save the backup file.

Then, un-install all current versions of SeaMonkey, and all
remaining files and folders left behind. (Hint; just for
safety don't remove the profile folders, just rename them to
something else like profileOLD)

Once SeaMonkey is totally removed install a fresh copy of
the latest version you want, after install is complete, up
and running, and tested for your needs, close SeaMonkey
completely and run MozBackup to recover the saved profile.
When the saved profile is complete open SeaMonkey and select
Change Profile, select the saved profile that has been
backed up. Be sure you check the box to use the new profile
at start-up.

Try creating an account for PSP X-4, and when you set the account up be

To the best of my knowledge the smileys in SM are proprietary to
SeaMonkey/Mozilla/Netscape, and are hidden inside the applications.

When you insert a SM smiley only people using a modern version of SM can
translate the ASCII symbols to a graphical smiley.

A few years ago there was a smiley application that would integrate with
the Netscape Communicator e-mail suite and insert a hyperlink to the
smiley image hosted on a third party server. This only worked
successfully in HTML mail.

You can create your own smiley graphics and insert them into any HTML
message, but most newsgroups frown on HTML.

Actually, the simley image is generated by the recipient's application.
If your recipient would look at the message source as received, the
ASCII smiley would be there. In the case of newsgroups, you should
select [View Message Source] from the menu bar. You will see only the
ASCII smiley.

If you go to [View Zoom], you can select or deselect Zoom Text Only.
Deselected, zooming will make the smiley image larger or smaller as the
text is also zoomed.

Sorry, David.

I thought the poster was referring to the Smileys that used to be with
Mozilla based e-mail. They are ASCII characters converted to graphic
icons. They are not accessible to the user, just from the HTML editor.

When a user receives a HTML message he sees the graphical icon, but when
he only reads ASCII mail he sees only the ASCII characters that
represent the icon.

Nonsense. I'm having no trouble sending email in html (my default).

So, you are able to Delete Table Rows or Cells ... tell us what is your

method ?

There are various work-arounds shown in the Bugzilla refs cited. And they
all work. And the issue, in the GUI, will be fixed shortly.

And, frankly, given that Mozilla has given up on Composer, like, what? A
decade ago? Why are we even discussing it?

Well, okay. Because Composer ought to have been stripped out of SeaMonkey
long ago as an abandoned component. It isn't utile, it isn't being
supported, it produces horrible HTML and CSS (if at all).

This is a mid-1990s code/app that ought to be tossed on the trash heap.
It encourages non-compliant Web page creation that will likely break in
various browsers. And this from a goup that prides itself on compatability.

As of Daniel's following comment, yes. I rarely (some odd conversion
routines) use Composer (or the other variants) other than to check
complaints here but I DO check the complaints and functionality. But I
could use any of the variants for that too.

Composer ought to be shot in the head. It ought to have been shot in the
head 10 years ago.

It sullies the suite/SeaMonkey. Get rid of it. If others want to try to
give its marginal value life by working on its code once in a while, fine,
let them live with it. Don't sullie SeaMonkey with its inclusion.

It doesn't work. Period.

And, frankly, no other WYSIWYG thingie produces verifiable code much much
more regularly.

If you're using it to produce Web pages I suggest you run them through the
W3C Validator:

javascript:void(window.**location='http://validator.w3.**
org/check?uri='+escape(window.**location)http://validator.w3.org/check?uri='+escape(window.location)
)

Save that link above. Open your page created with Composer and click the
link.

Finally, the answer is: If you're going to write Web pages, learn how.
Don't rely on some ill-written program to spew out broken code.

There has been (and I was doing it in the late 80s and early 90s) an
ongoing effort to produce programs that generate code for people who don't
know how to do it. With valid output. I don't know of one that does it
100%.

There is no substitute for writing valid code.

And, yes, I do understand that there are arguments about whether HTML and
CSS are, indeed, code. But that's another argument.

I've tried most on-line recommended solutions methods but none work. Help. TIA

Norm,

I have the same set-up as you, but without the problem.
The Cash.Trash could be a folder that contains a hidden file, hidden by
the Windows XP Operating System, or it could be a file still in use by
something.

A quick test is to shutdown and power off for 60 sec.
Power up and boot into Windows Safe-Mode. This will start Windows in
its most reduced operating system. Nothing automatic will start,
external hardware will not load, and antivirus should not launch, so to
be safe unplug your internet cable.
When Windows is booted navigate to the offending folder and look inside,
if its empty step back and delete the folder. If it is not empty delete
the files shown in that directory. Then delete the folder. If the
folder cannot be deleted, or the folder shows no files, they may be
hidden by the system.

Back all the way out and open Control Panel from your Start Menu.
Navigate to Folder Options and open the tab View. Look for items
that read like: Hidden files and folders. Unhide these options. Then
look for Hide extensions for know file types, and Hide protected
operating system files. Remove the checks to hide these options.

Close everything back to your desktop, reboot your system.

IMPORTANT! You will now be shown any/and all Windows Operating System
type files and folders, if you delete the wrong file you could trash
your system.

The good news: you should not see any system files in/or under your
Profile Folder, and if you find one in your subject Cache.Trash folder
it dose not belong here.

Finally, if you do find a file in your Cache.Trash folder and cannot
delete it step back to the folder just ahead of the Cache.Trash folder.
Right click on Cache.Trash and select Properties, look down at
Attributes and click on the green square to remove it, click Apply, then
click on the radio button to apply to all files and subfolders.
This will remove the write only attribute to any and all files in
folders within the Cache.Trash folder and all subfolders.

Silverfox,

SeaMonkey is built like an Apartment House, each floor is a different
function; mail, browser, address book, chat, etc. In each user
interface you should see a menu bar near the top of the window, and one
of the tabs will read Tools. In tools you should have an option to
Import data. This all works well if the data can be found. One big
problem in earlier versions of the Internet Suite was the ability to
install the program and its files in custom made folders/directories in
place of the default pathways SeaMonkey had in its install
configuration. That is why we have an Import Option.

Hello John,

The only way we can try to asst you is if you provide more detailed
information on your problem.

Example: The links in the left navigation panel look fine. They are
white, underlined, change to Italic font, and look like Arial Font.
After clicked and connected they rmain the same.

You also have an external Style Sheet and Composer will not read the
META tag for CSS. For that you need Komposer. or BlueGriffin.

Michael G

Oh so that is why the colors are off in the SM Composer, I have those
apps but do not like them as much as SM. When will SM solve this issue
for I love SM and do not like those other editors.

John,

I cannot say if or when SeaMonkey/Composer will ever be updated. It has
been many years since any work has been done to the HTML editor. There
was some talk a long time ago about importing Komposer, or BlueGriffin
into the SeaMonkey suite, but that has been silent for a very long time.

The best thing you can do for the time being is to use either HTML
editor, or a plain text editor, and use SeaMonkey as a proof-reader.
While editing a document has SM open to the page you are editing. When
you make a change, save the change, then reload SM to see the results.

Thanks Michael.

I do use TextWrangler sometimes to edit HTML code and it has one major

Beau,

It could be that no one at SM knows how to remove it from the suite, and

If they did figure out how to remove it without harm, would SeaMonkey

It seems logical that the SM development team leader could contact the

I would imagine that it would require very little work

would (with complete justification) ask Why have you done

Would it be a suite if they removed Chat?

Of course.

Philip,

The logical resolution is to regress a few versions and let the user

It all goes back to the age old argument, what the user wants, not what

It is very normal to include the account mail address when in a

When you open an e-mail account, and have several available mail

What is the proper, easiest, way of doing this?

Rostylaw, don't know about the proper way, but.

*If you just move/copy the files from .default to
.default, you will overwrite you active account* , so what I
would do is, in Win7 Explorer, rename the .default inbox to
_inbox and then move/copy it into your .default profile
at the same level as its inbox. Then, when you open SM, you should see
both your inbox and the _inbox listed under your normal profile
and can move mail from one folder to the other, if needed.

Do likewise for the sent folder, drafts folder, etc from the
c,default profile into the .default profile.

Don't worry about renaming any of the *.msf folders, they will be
recreated as needed.

Thank you Daniel. What you recommend will, of course, work.
But that seems to me to me to be the brute force method
and I was hoping that there was some more elegant way or facility
for doing this task.
Mr. Gordon. If what you suggest is different from Daniels' method,
then please explain again, as I do not understand what you are
suggesting.

Rostyk,

What I am suggestion is a move and linking of the 222.default file
from its old location into the new profile location, this way you can
have access to both profiles if you nee one or the other.

You should have a folder in your system called Profiles for the
Mozilla/SeaMonkey installation. If you copy the name of the old profile
2.default and paste it into the Profiles folder of the new
installation you can link Profile Manager to it the easy way.
You wont have to worry about moving mail account folders and files,
address books, bookmarks, passwords, saved forms, etc.

If you move the 2.default profile folder to the new location, I
suggest you rename this profile folder something different than
.default. The developers and programmers of Mozilla have gone to a
lot of trouble creating a secure location for our profiles, the normal
method of creating a profile folder is to use a series of letters and
numbers (encrypted) and a special 3 letter extension. This prevents
hackers from searching our hard drives for files named *.default.

If you are able to get the clock going, then there is likely some site
interaction problem contributing to your profile situation.

Doesn't work here anywhere, but may likely be firewall related. (If the

this will fail here.)

Matthias,

I am going to suggest a solution that may meet with a lot of discourse
with other members of this group, but it works.

Oracle acquired JAVA and decided it needed some upgrades. Oracle
released its upgrade version 7. There may have been some security
upgrades, and some performance improvements, and some functionality
upgrades. But whatever they did they introduced more security issues
than they can solve.

The suggestion is two fold.
1. If you had downloaded the previous version #6, make sure it is JAVA 6
u 38, the full version number is 6.0.380.5
2. Close all web browsers and applications that may use JAVA. For
Windows users go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs. Remove all
versions of JAVA. If you had downloaded SeaMonkey 2.1 and saved it on
your HD you can uninstall your current version of SM. Uninstalling SM
will not tamper with your Profile. For Windows users, after
uninstalling SeaMonkey, reboot your computer. Navigate to were you
saved the SeaMonkey install file and double click to install. During
the install process SM will import all your profile settings. Make sure
all web browsers are closed. Navigate to where you saved the JAVA
installation file and double click on JAVA 6 U38.

Once you downgrade SM to version 2.1 you may be surprised at all the
tools, plugins, themes, and extensions that will now work.

Once you install the earlier version of SM (2.1) you will remove some
security enhancements, but if you employ a good firewall, anti-virus,
anti-malware program, and execute care when connecting to questionable
web sites you should have no problems.

Thanks to both of you for your responses.

I was talking about the bookmark bar which contains both single
bookmarks and folders of bookmarks, like this:

Even from the folder at the far left called Bookmarks, you can go
down it and into any of the same folders that are in the bar and still
cannot right-click on any of those links to bring up a contextual menu
of what to do with it.

The only ones that right click works on are single bookmarks that
are not in folders, such as Spamarrest, Google, eBay, YouTube and
Wikipedia.

Anything in a folder (such as Websites, Mandolin, Stuff, House,
Computer etc.) is only available with a mouse-and-keyboard maneuver.

I think this must be a Mac-specific issue. In my Windoze box, with
latest SM release (2.4.1), I can right-click on any bookmark, anywhere
(including in the separate beast of the Bookmark Manager), and I get a
local menu with both open in a new window and open in a new tab.

The original message in this thread was indeed by someone using a Mac.

Did I miss something? The original question (and the subject) refer to
right-click. I though Macs had only a single-button mouse. It's been
quite a while since I actually saw a Mac. Do they now have two-button
or even three-button mice?

Yes it is possible to configure a Mac mouse to be able to 'right click' and yes

Yes, the Apple Magic Mouse does a lot of tricks, right-middle-left-
scrolling several ways. The various capabilities all used to work on
previous versions of SeaMonkey.

Right clicking within Bookmarks Manager works but not when accessing the
bookmarks from the browser menu.

Indeed, but what a nuisance, especially when things worked so well
before but now have been lost.

That might be a Mac problem or merely a problem with the way the mouse is
configured.

Nope, it's how SeaMonkey was improved in the most current version.
I'm discovering other issues with 2.4.1 that make me wonder why and
how they manage to lose good simple features with every attempt to
improve the product.

Thanks again.

This may be a false lead, but...

I remember reading a few months ago something about *removing*
click-and-hold support in Macs -- which, if memory doesn't fail me, was
the way one-button-mouse Macs gave the same functionality as
right-click. Let me check...

...yes, it was in mozilla.dev.apps.seamonkey, regarding bug 64749. The
quote was as follows:

Also we should turn off ui.click_hold_context_menus for Macs. Firefox
turned this off ages ago. AFAIK No other major contemporary Mac (Cocoa)
application does this any more.

I don't know what came of it, but you can check bug 64749:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=64749

Dang. I was afraid of that.

Thanks.

but Why is it so? s

I was concerned about the loss of NoSquint too; but simply using Ctrl + or -

NoSquint to do.

The built in Zoom doesn't work as well. As soon as you go to another link and
back the setting is lost. It doesn't persist.
I wish Phil Chee would hurry up and fix it. I depend upon because of my
eyesight.

Using OSX 10.6.8 when I updated from 2.0.14 I had the same problem. I made
a copy of the html file from the 2.0.14 profile put it on my desktop then
imported it into 2.4.0 password manager. May be other ways to successfully
import but this worked for me.

What is the full name of the html file you refer to? And where can I
find it?

Also, where do I find my bookmarks again? I understand the concept of
dragging files to the desktop and re-inserting them, but I'm not sure
which files to drag out.

I really appreciate your help on this.

To prevent unwanted upgrade go to Preferences/Advanced/Software
Installation and Uncheck 'Allow websites to install updates' and
'Automatically check for updates'

I'd always had it checked like that, and thus never had an involuntary
installation—until this time. It must have come pre-checked in the
upgrade to 2.4 that went so badly.

Profile in SM 2.0.14

Users/Library/Mozilla/Profiles/Default/bookmarks.html

You now should be able to import this file from the Bookmarks Manager;
Browser/Bookmarks/Manage Bookmarks/Tools/Import HTML

If this doesn't work open the html folder and highlight your bookmarks,
copy and paste them into the appropriate folder, e.g Bookmarks Toolbar
Bookmarks Menu.

Profile in later versions are not stored in the same place but stored in
the Application Support folder;

Users/Library/Application Support/SeaMonkey/Profiles/Default folder

Good luck! M

I started my computer this morning to find I had unwittingly upgraded
from 2.0.14 to 2.4.1. Having experienced a recent trainwreck with the
most recent version of S-M, I went back to one I knew worked, and was
content to leave it there. It was a complete surprise to have
Seamonkey open today in a version I never asked for, and never
knowingly installed, but there it was. All bookmarks were gone, the
password manager was empty, and I was stuck. So I closed the app down,
reinstalled 2.0.14, and things worked again.

Eventually I'll have to upgrade, but before I do, I really need to
know how to retrieve and reactivate bookmarks and the password manager
and so on.

Before you answer, know that I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.8. All the
advice on this topic I've found assumes you're running a Windows
machine. I'm not, and that advice does not apply to my situation.

Just to confirm your problem. Google search button was also inactive on
both my desktop and laptop. Also reverted back for same reason.
Thanks for posting I thought it may have been an OS problem

Just to confirm your problem, can you try restarting with add-ons
disabled and a test profile?

Thanks for the suggestion I'll see how I go when I download the latest

Not anytime too soon, we have a few technical and procedural hurdles to
clear first. and no ETA on doing so.

Okay, thanks for the update.
