windows ten 1607 update issues

2016-08-04 Thread RJ Sandefur via Talk
Dear AI squared staff: I am using window eyes 9.5, and I can't update to
windows update 16.7. Why is this, is aisquared aware of the issue, and
if so, what are the programers doing in order to fix this issue? I am
disappointed. RJ

Subject: Windows Update Question

Hello,

Two important updates were available for Windows 7 today. I have the
fastest residential internet service from Comcast. I am wondering why
downloading these updates has been in progress for several hours. Last
week, thirteen important updates took almost six hours to download and
install. Could someone offer an explanation for this. Running WE
9.4, Win
7 HP 64-bit, I.E. 11 on an Acer laptop with 3 gigs of ram and a
dual-core

AMD processor.

Thanks,

Dan

site to, guess what, their own websites. I had to look up some information this
morning at work about the site licensed JAWS and that’s what I found, on the Freedom
Scientific website. The VFO Group site talks about each company being their own

There are larger forces at work here. For one thing, smart phones and
tablets are replacing computers for many people. Many find that they can do
what they need to do with their smart phone or tablet, along with
consumption of content like music, videos, games, and sporting events. My
wife has an aging PC that she has not got around to replacing because she is

doing everything with her iPhone, and is considering buying an iPad as
opposed to a PC. Many blind persons prefer a dedicated note taker to a PC,
and today's generation of note takers are not so dedicated anymore.
And as for those blind persons who use PCs, the free screen reader NVDA is
no longer a curiosity but is a viable solution for many home PC users. PCs
are still essential in the workplace, but the blind population is growing
older, and many who have worked are retiring. And Apple continues to be an
alternative solution for blind persons. The demand for PC based screen
reading software is decreasing, and there just isn't enough demand to
support several competing products. I think that eventually advanced screen
reader capability will be built into Windows narrator and the AT companies
will make their money on hardware such as note takers, braille displays, and

low vision solutions.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to chime in here and give my personal thoughts to the bombshell
released today regarding VFO (the parent company of Freedom Scientific
and Optelec) acquiring Ai Squared. And by bombshell, I don't mean a bad
thing, I just mean it is shocking and unexpected news.

I know this may seem scary to many people. I know that we have a great
number of extremely loyal customers who may be feeling betrayed. There
are lots of legit concerns and questions that I'm sure come to
everyone's minds. But honestly, nobody knows the answers at this
point. We are just starting the discussions internally of how best to
take all our new resources, talent, products, etc. and meld them
together to give the best customer experience. For the next 6 months or
so, it will be business as usual. After the 6 months, who knows at this
point but I can guarantee the customers will benefit from the results.
Nobody will be abandoned or taken advantage of, etc. I'm very impressed
with John Blake (CEO of VFO). I truly believe John is in this for the
customer.

Personally, I'm extremely excited with the possibilities. Think about
it, we now have all the best minds in this industry under one roof.
Instead of us duplicating resources, we can combine them and inovate.
Although Freedom has been our number one competitor since Dan and I
started GW Micro in 1990, I've always had great respect for their
engineers. Okay, I've had questions about their corporate leadership, a
certain lawsuit comes to mind (smile), but that was a completely
different leadership team. That was a different owner and a different
CEO. Vector has an outstanding reputation. John Blake has shown great
leadership and concern for the customer. Under this new leadership and
available resources, I'm ready to take that and do whatever it takes to
have the best possible solutions for our customers, for every low vision
and blind person out there.

People may be concerned about lack of competition causing innovation and
quality to suffer. Nothing can be further from the truth. There is
still plenty of competition out there, including free options but we
have the determination and drive, starting at the corporate level all
they way down to provide the best quality products, hands down. Yes,

Hello,

What I would like to see in the new windoweyes version are the following:

1. The ability to use windows speech recognition.

Currently, only System access works fully with this feature of windows.

2. Also, I would like to see an easier way to get in to safe mode with
window-eyes. While safe mode is now accessible once you are in it, you
have no easy way to get in to safe mode.

Thanks,

I'm not sure if you are asking a question, but my guess is that you needed
to wait longer before you did the download. Once someone copies a file into
their dropbox, it must then be uploaded to the DropBox web site. Most of us
have much slower upload speeds than download speeds, so it can take a while
before a file is truly available for download, even if a link is generated.
If your friend happened to turn off his or her computer before the upload
completed, it may not complete until the next time the computer is turned
on. You definitely do not need to have a dropbox to download from someone
else's link.

whenever I am either using the left or the right arrow keys,
sometimes Thunderbird will somehow skip over a space or a character
and you have to use the left or right arrow key just to make sure you
don't miss anything, is there a fix or something in Thunderbird to
make sure that something is turned off? I am not getting this in note

to go right then left to go front one space or back one character then
have to use the left arrow to jump back to the previous one. I have
turned off in the brows mode settings under the new page 1 where it
says read first 24 lines, set that to nothing turned off the global
scope so it is set to the program scope and still getting this. I have
read that suggestion in the digest issue and applied that hoping that
it would fix it. I even have the font set in the composition area set

Do the upgrade then reactivate with the window-eyes authorization and

It has been a while but I was able to select and play tv shows and movies
on Hulu plus using window-eyes 8.4. There was no difference at that time
between the interfaces for Hulu and Hulu Plus.
If you can find the search box, you can enter the name of a series or
movie and then tab to the results list, arrow through the results and
select the desired item by pressing enter.
Browsing the site to see what's there is somewhat problematical but I was
able to browse by category.
You should try Hulu before signing up for Hulu Plus. If you can access
it, you should have no trouble accessing Hulu Plus.

It can stream content from sources like iTunes, Netflicks, and Hulu to
