Thank you Chris, Rod. I had completely forgotten to check the add-ins in
Outlook. Having done that it now works without a problem again.

Hi,
Also make sure Outlook Enhance isn't disabled within Outlook.
alt-f, t, A twice, tab 4 times.
Down arrow to disabled and tab to go and press enter.
Next, arrow through, if something like Outlook Enhance is in the list,
press space on it.
Shift-tab to enable and press enter. Ok or close all dialogs you opened.

Restart outlook.

Hi Yusuf,

Just to be clear, you must reinstall the set files, then the Office
Enhance, and then the Outlook Enhance apps, in this order.
And a reboot is always required after installing Outlook Enhance.

Good luck,

Rod

Subject: Problem reading emails with Outlook2016 and latest WE

Hi, Up until this morning, when Office updated itself, I was able to
press enter on a message in Outlook2016 and listen to Window Eyes read
it automatically. Since the update this no longer works. I am running
the latest version of WE with the latest Outlook sets and the Outlook
Enhanced App.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might be able to do to get
WE behaving the way I want?

I suppose this might involve waiting for an update to the Outlook
Enhanced App?

I tried restarting my PC and removing and reinstalling both Office Set
Files and the Outlook Enhanced App, and just to be sure the Office
Enhanced App.

RE: Outlook 2016

2016-12-11 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Set files are not on App Central which is why you didn't find them there. They
are installed when Window Eyes is itself installed. If you look in the Window
Eyes Control Panel, File Menu, Factory Settings, you will see a list of Set
Files and that will include information on which are installed and which not.
You need to make sure that the Set File for Office 2016 is installed.

Subject: Outlook 2016

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone on the list can help me because the window eyes support
team is not being much help.

I used office 2007 since it first came out and just recently updated to
Office 365 which is now using Office 2016.

My problem is with my emails. When I check my email and arrow through the
list of new messages or messages I have saved in folders the emails are
supposed to say if they are read, unread, forwarded or whatever has been
done plus the sender name, subject, date, and time. with the message.

But instead my list of messages says:

No associated drafts, attachments, No attachments or with attachments, then
sendername, subject, date and time.

I was told before I downloaded office 365 and would be using office 2016 the
messages would automatically say if they are read, unread and so forth along
with the sender name, subject and date and time. That is all I want things
to say before I open a message and no matter what Chris at the support team
has asked me to do it is not happening. I made sure office 2007 was
completely uninstalled and ran both the links for office enhance and outlook
enhance that Chris sent to me but still the same thing is said and I do not
know if the message is read, unread, forwarded, ETC.

Can anyone help me out before I get totally desperate and delete Office 2016
and go back to 2007?

Thanks in advance. Dave

RE: Unable to access folders in Outlook2016

2016-08-09 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Glad to be of help, I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed this change, or
that found it really annoying. The control tab keystroke was discovered purely
by accident and your right with the shift bit, it makes it quicker to go from
inbox to folder list. I don't suppose there's much AI Squared can do about it
as its obviously a Microsoft thing. A bit of a nuisance though.

Hi Yusuf,

Thanks so much for the Control-Shift-Tab keystroke.
Note that Control-Tab and then adding the Shift key for the other direction
makes it possible to go in and out of the message list and back to the tree
view.
I really thank you so much for this.
This happened to me before bedtime and it drove me nuts and cost me some
sleep.
I even uninstalled the Outlook Enhance app.
The funny thing about that was that I noticed that the one I had previously
installed, which came from my installation of WE 9.5.1 is newer than the one
on App Central.
I was told this when I went to install it over the one I had installed.
This is simply a note for the AI Squared staff.

Thanks again so much from the bottom of my heart. Smile

All the best,

Rod Hutton

2016 to crash

I’m the original poster of this thread. Thank you to Rod, Yusuf, Charlie and
Neville for replying. Thanks also to David Egolf from Ai Squared for his help.

The issue I reported a week ago now seems to have been fixed by following the
simple steps given by in Knowledge Base article GWKB2044: "Configuring Outlook
for Window-Eyes”.

I did not follow those steps initially, since I instead had set up Outlook 2016
with the same Outlook settings as I had on my previous Windows XP computer
running Outlook 2003 with WE 8.4.0.0. I assumed that it was OK therefore to
have the Reading Pane On, Message Preview On, and to Group messages by “From:”
as I did before.

Apparently not!

Yesterday I followed every step in GWKB2044 (including the step to first check
on the Outlook Enhance app): turned Off the Reading Pane, To-Do Bar, Message
Preview, People Pane, and Grouping; and disabled the Microsoft Outlook Social
Connector Add-in, which was enabled by default.

After making these changes, I no longer experienced a crash when using the
Delete key on a message in the Inbox, or in any other mailbox.

I didn’t try to isolate which one of those changes alone made the difference —
I’m just happy that Outlook no longer crashes!

Lesson learned: if you have any Outlook problem with Window-Eyes, you must do
the steps in GWKB2044 first before you can blame WE.

(Note to tech support: GWKB2044 was authored in 2013 for Outlook 2010/2013
specifically, and could use a few changes that pertain to 2016 as well.)

You need to select your sound card from the WE control panel, go to devices,
then synthersisers and tab across to the sound card and select the one you want.

RE: WE 9.4 on Windows 7: delete key on Inbox message causes Outlook 2016 to crash

2016-05-23 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
I've been having exactly the same problem as David. Using Rod's method works
some of the time, however it too causes Outlook to crash several times a day.
AI Squared support are aware of this, I sent them an email last week asking if
there's been any fix yet.

Another problem which I think might be related is that whenever I try to do a
search in Outlook, that also causes a crash.

I'm using Exchange, not sure if that has any relevance to the problem.

Subject: WE 9.4 on Windows 7: delete key on Inbox message causes Outlook 2016
to crash

I’m the techie friend of a user running the free Window-Eyes 9.4.0.0 (for users
of Microsoft Office) with Microsoft Office 2016.

Outlook 2016 works well with WE 9.4, with one major glitch for us:

Pressing the “Del” (delete) key on the keyboard while a message is selected in
the Inbox causes Outlook 2016 to crash immediately. The resulting dialog window
says that Outlook ”needs to be restarted”. This error is very reproducible,
even with a different keyboard; the message does not get deleted, and Outlook
crashes. Starting Outlook 2016 in Safe Mode does not have any effect. However,
if I terminate Window-Eyes 9.4 first and then press the del key on a message,
it does get deleted and no crash occurs.

I have run "Repair Office" (Quick) from Windows’ "Programs and Features”
control panel, but that didn’t help.

This seems like an incompatibility between WE 9.4, Outlook 2016 and the delete
key.

Anyone know of an alternate keyboard shortcut in Outlook for deleting a
message; control-D doesn’t work for me.

This is a newly purchased, refurbished PC with 4GB RAM and a clean install of
Windows 7 Professional, followed by an install of Microsoft Office Home and
Business 2016, followed by the free version of WE 9.4.0.0. Everything is
working well, besides this delete key problem. Windows Update is all updated,
and there haven’t been any recent changes to any Microsoft Office components.

Thanks.

— David

Latest Skype with latest Window Eyes

2016-05-06 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Hi, I'm having problems accessing the latest version of Skype with the latest
version of Window Eyes and the Skype Enhanced App. The major problem is with
the combo boxes listing speakers and microphone devices in Options. Window Eyes
says there's 5 items in speakers, but only reads two of them. If I use the
cursor keys to try and select a different device WE seems to read the same two
devices, even though others are available. Does anyone know what is happening

Outlook2016 Windows7 and WE 9.4

I've got this combination on my desktop and WE responds extremely slowly in the

Problems with WE and Windows10

2016-03-18 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Sorry if this message comes out a little garbled as I'm having one or two
problems with WE since I upgraded to Windows 10 Home yesterday.

I was using Windows7 with WE9.4. I upgraded to Windows10 and each time WE
loaded I got a descending set of beeps which I've always assumed meant that WE
had crashed. I had previously read the upgrade instructions which referred to
the need to install WE9.2 in order to get back the Mirror driver. I did this,
and the descending beeps stopped. I then upgraded to WE9.4 and am now having
the same problem.

Despite the descending tones as soon as WE starts, it appears to be working,
although it has difficulties in Windows Explorer, running very slowly and
sometimes crashing completely. Also, items in the start menu aren't always read
correctly. By that I mean if I type in the search box and cursor down to go
through the options, sometimes nothing is said.

Also, in Outlook response from WE after pressing the tab key to move between
email list, search area, etc. is sometimes very slow.

Another problem in Outlook is that when a new message comes in, a notification
pops up which reads the message. I'm guessing though this is a setting
somewhere in Outlook, but I've got no idea how to stop this from happening, it
never happened in Windows7 and Outlook 2013. Incidentaly I presume I'm still
using Outlook2013? Perhaps Windows10 has defaulted to something else.

Any help much appreciated.

Latest version of WE not returning after crash

At least I think it’s the Message tab, it’s whatever one is highlighted when

Rod, I don't think there are any graphics in this particular file, it also

I guess the next thing for me to do is to look at the settings of the

 Hi Yusuf,

Is it possible that there are graphics on the lines in the places where the
spaces are occurring, since the default setting Under Braille, Graphics is
for graphics to be separated by spaces.
Of course, it would mean that the other graphic settings would have to be
set to None for verbosity and no dots.
 I'm just speculating. Smile

RE: Latest WE with Brailliant 40 cell display

2015-06-03 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Thanks Bill/Rod.

Bill, I'm using the older style Brailliant which doesn't have thumb keys. It
only has the 3 vertical buttons at the very left and very right ends of the
Braille display. Oh, and of course the routing keys above each cell.

Rod, I don't think there are any graphics in this particular file, it also
happens across many different files, in which there are no graphics.

I guess the next thing for me to do is to look at the settings of the
Brailliant itself to see if there's anything to adjust. I'll also try
connecting it to my IPhone to narrow down if this is a Brailliant issue or a
Window Eyes one.
Cheers

Thanks for the quick response, this is happening in the middle of sentences,
normally you might get half an empty line in Braille at the end of a
paragraph but not at the beginning.

If I'm reading your message correctly, even in traditional paper braille
you'll find empty lines and one-word lines. It's a waste of paper and
patience, but I have a feeling this might be mirrored or duplicated when
you're using a display. Just a suggestion.

RE: Latest WE with Brailliant 40 cell display

2015-06-03 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Hi Rod, I've tried connecting my Brailliant display to my IPhone and reading a
Kindle book. Doing that, the display acts as I would expect I.E. there are no
gaps at all.

I've now been through all the settings in the WE control panel concerned with
Braille and none of them seem to make any difference. I can pan to the right
twice and I get 2 lines of complete text. The third time, I get 1 word and the
rest of the display is blank. This is the middle of a sentence but I presume it
must be the end of the line on the screen.

It feels to me like a Window Eyes issue with the Brailliant 40 cell display.
Perhaps I'll have to send off an email to AI Support.

Hi Yusuf,

Okay, and it's worth checking out all the settings in the braille node of
the WE control panel and see if they make your display behave as you want it
to.
And how does NVDA handle all similar situations, since I've looked at the
NVDA manual and it details its support for each display?
I'm getting my first braille display in the next week and so I'm new to all
of this stuff, but I've written apps and I'm a kind of system detective and
so at least I know we can track down if something's wrong or it's just the
way the display works. Smile

Take care,

Hi Yusuf,

If this is something which has happened only recently, or perhaps only with
certain programs, then it can't be something wrong with your display, but,
rather, the formatting of lines in those programs. I would say try to find
the settings which work and apply them to the situations where the problems
are occurring.

file opening problem in word 2013

2015-05-03 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Whenever I try to open a word file from the my documents folder it opens but
word gives it the title wrd.... And when I try to save it, it acts as if
this is the first time the file has been saved and uses the wrd000... as the
filename. This is a recent problem. Does anyone have any ideas how to get word
to treat files I open from my documents in the normal way?

I don't get this problem if I open word first and then use the open dialogue.

Window Eyes crashing with certain emails in Thunderbird

2015-03-10 Thread Yusuf Osman via Talk
Hi, I realise this is probably quite a difficult question to answer however I
thought I'd ask just encase anyone had any suggestions. I had a couple of
emails yesterday which all caused Window Eyes to crash, unfortunately they
didn't generate an error message. I was trying to read them in Thunderbird. I
think the messages were in HTML, although I'm uncertain of that. I also think
Thunderbird was updated yesterday as I had to get rid of the message pane etc.

I tried forwarding these emails to my other account to read them in Outlook,
and whilst one or two forwarded fine, and were read perfectly normally a
couple, from the delivery company had all the relevant information removed
leaving only the email disclaimer. Any ideas why that happened?

Any suggestions as to why WE and Thunderbird seem to have a problem with these
messages? I was trying to locate the setting in Thunderbird to make sure
messages were being sent out as HTML and viewed as HTML.

Sorry everyone, take no notice, it would help if I had read the help me info in
the app all the way through. I needed to change the view to split view, now its
all working without a problem.

Subject: Skype and WE question

Hi, Could someone offer some help with using the latest version with WE and the
latest version of Skype? Messages are not being read as they come in, and the
F1,F2 keys for reading the different messages in a conversation aren't working
either. The Skype App is running. Does anyone have any ideas?
