Hi!

I kept this in my inbox, so I thought I'd answer with my latest experiences
with Firefox.

The Control-N workaround worked for me in Window-Eyes 9.5.4 until last
Tuesday, I think it was when Firefox updated itself, making it useless for
me in Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.

I have the business edition aka Firefox ESRthat my husband got for me,
which I will install very soon. I wanted to remember to try Firefox in NVDA
to see whether it was a Window-Eyes issue or a Firefox issue, and Firefox
is just as useless now in NVDA, at least over here.

Here is an article about the new Firefox.

It sounds like from this article that there is a Firefox/Chrome war, on
Firefox's side, anyway. I hope Chrome doesn't follow in the footsteps of
Firefox, because I like Chrome a lot.

Here's the title of the article and the link to it.

RE: Firefox query

2017-10-22 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi David,

Here's how to export Firefox bookmarks to a single HTML text file containing
links corresponding to all of your Firefox bookmarks.
You would then open the exported file in the browser of your choice and look
for the bookmark you need.
Open Firefox.
Click the Bookmarks menu, and then click Show All Bookmarks.
In the Library window, press the Alt key to open the menu bar, choose Import
and Backup, and then click Export Bookmarks to HTML. ...
In the Export Bookmarks File window, choose where to save the file, and then
click Save. ...
Close the Library window.

Best,

Rod

Subject: Firefox Updated and I'm Unable to Navigate

Hi!

I didn't have this problem until today when Firefox updated. I can
only tab
and Shift-Tab through the links with MSAA turned off. The arrow keys do
nothing, and, if MSAA is turned on, I only get a ding and no navigation
works. I have never seen this behavior before today.

I'm using Windows 7 32 bit with Window-Eyes 9.5.4.0.

Re: Firefox query

2017-10-22 Thread Lloyd Rasmussen via Talk
After Firefox 56.01 came out, even the ctrl-N workaround doesn't work
because we have been switched over to the 64-bit version of Firefox. Browse
mode becomes unavailable at that point. If you are going to continue to use
Window-Eyes, you must use browsers other than Firefox.

Hi guys! Just wondering, how to enable playback in Internet Explorer of NFL
Audiopass? I know it works since it plays in Firefox but am not sure what
setting or icon to change.

I can _use Firefox but seem to favor IE and am not sure how, or what, to
enable to make it go in IE as it does in Firefox so any help much appreciated.

Timeas gone by, all I needed was Flash and it hummed like that.
Anyway, in 2017, not sure how to enable playback in IE, similar to that in
Firefox. Again, thanks and any help much appreciated.

Please remember that system restore has many roll back points. I would
select a restore point just before I had accidentally uninstalled a
program. Just be careful not to roll your machine back too far, but
just where you made a mistake. Windows updates would automatically be
restored if any were affected by system restore.

Re: QUERY

2017-07-14 Thread Tom Fairhurst via Talk
I have been following this thread and strongly agree. I had to do System
Restore twice with sighted help to recover Windows. I have used it myself to
get rid of programs that ci couldn't remove with Programs and Features. One
would certainly not use System Restore if there is a risk of restoring a
virus. You should be careful in using it. It can be used without sighted
assistance when run normally. If you are concerned about security updates,
these usually can be reapplied easily since Windows or your security program
will likely prompt you to reinstall them after the System Restore is
complete.

Re: query

2017-07-13 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk
Hi. You'll want to be very careful when using
system restore. If you've applied windows updates, especially any
security-related ones, you'll essentially be taking the computer back to
a time before they were installed. If I'm understanding the question
correctly, and i hope someone will correct me if I'm not, it just seems
to me like re-installing the program would be so much easier.

Use google to find the download site for the program in question, and
download the instalation file for it.

Keep it in a safe place if this sort of thing happens again. Barring
that, let us know what program was uninstalled, and we can steer you in
the right direction as to where to get the program.

Using Win7 with WE 9.5.4. I noticed recently that when reading documents where
an apostrophy-s occurs after a name ending with the letter h that the
apostrophy-s is not spoken in normal reading mode. Two examples: Jehovah’s
Isaiah’s. If I do a word by word cursor they do speak the apostrophy-s. Of
course, words or names ending with another letter followed by the apostrophy-s
do seem to read normally, i. e. brother’s, sister’s, Rod’s, and Tom’s.
The question is: Is there a fix or is this just something that needs a fix?
Now that I am aware of the problem I am able to deal with it as needed.

I have noticed this bug with the Eloquence synthesizer for a few years. It
may have been introduced when they changed the software to prevent certain
strings from crashing Eloquence. If you use the DecTalk synthesizer, Caleb
will be pronounced cakeb! The Microsoft Speech Framework synthesizers, Zera
and Helen will expand more abbreviations than you can shake a stick at. And
the Vocalizer synthesizers clearly have quirks, too.

RE: pronunciation query

2017-05-01 Thread Van Lant, Robin via Talk
That is interesting. I'm reading the examples in your message and it's
consistent for me across all 3 of your examples. Are you trying to get it to
say the word apostrophe? In my default settings, I have screen voice
settings set to not read miscellaneous punctuation. So, when I read your
examples, I can hear the sounds of the S at the end of each word, but WE did
not voice the presence of the apostrophe. If I turn miscellaneous punctuation
on then I hear WE voice an apostrophe and the subsequent S after each word.
Hmmm.. I'm wondering if this is a synthesizer difference, especially if you are
just trying to hear that there is a S there and not necessarily trying to get
WE to say the word apostrophe.

If the accessibility settings have been set up right, you can use Windows-U.
But under any circumstances you should be able to press Windows-R, then

Re: query re excell

2016-10-24 Thread David via Talk
First of all,

 c39b22

will be interpret

ed as one big cell reference - and that is an invalid one too.

Secondly, you have to tell Excel, what to do with the two cells, and you did
not. You sure told it to sum, but what kind of summing. OK, then, ExeDavidcel
should not name it sum, but more likely calculate.

Solution is:
iInsert a standard operator, between the two cell references, and see if that
doesn't do the job. All four standard operators, can be used. Plus, Minus,
division (the normal slash), and multiplication (the asterisc or star-symbol).

How about this formula:
=Sum(C39-b22)

HTH,

RE: Question On issue of WE9.3 hanging because waiting for it's query response,

2016-03-01 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi Manny:
I should imagine the programmers in those programs would allow for multiple
request response sessions.
The problem may be one of focus or the object types and instances being
displayed.
Without having the programs at hand I can not guess at what is going on.
They may be creating new object instances to display or they may be just
refilling existing instances.
In either case I have noted that unless they set focus to the window and
then to the control WindowEyes, and indeed jaws, can lose focus and end up
trying to read something else like the most recent entry in the tab
sequence.
This is diferent from a year or 2 ago when a programmer could just set focus
to the object of interest like a text box or list and have the screen reader
manage to focus that control correctly.
I have found this in my own programs most recently so I am guessing while
this would not impact sighted folks, the insert or whatever is still on the
correct control, reading has shifted away from the control of interest when
it comes to a screen reader.
Can you alt tab around and use the tab keys or arrow keys to get back into
any of the controls or is window eyes actually locking up including the
keyboard?
If window eyes is not locked up but wont read try using narrator to see if
you can hear anything.
Note that in my case the title bar read the correct form but window eyes was
reading me the last item in the tab sequence control.
There may be other things at play in your case indeed, actually very likely,
but this is something to try for now.
Do you know what programming languages are being used by your trading
software and your chess game?

Subject: Question On issue of WE9.3 hanging because waiting for it's query
response,

Aloha to all,
In Scottrade Elite,
Why does this hanging occurs after several right clicks and arrowing?
Does this mean that the programmer only program to answer only 2 or 3
query's?

The same with my Fritz 12 and chessbase 11. I can do one game analysis
and WE9.3 will read the result, but if I do another game analysis, WE9.3
goes silent.
Does this mean that the programmer only program to answer only one query?
Will a WE9.3 update fix this issue?

Stay well,
Manny

Question On issue of WE9.3 hanging because waiting for it's query response,

2016-03-01 Thread Manny via Talk

Aloha to all,
In Scottrade Elite,
Why does this hanging occurs after several right clicks and arrowing?
Does this mean that the programmer only program to answer only 2 or 3
query's?

The same with my Fritz 12 and chessbase 11. I can do one game analysis
and WE9.3 will read the result, but if I do another game analysis, WE9.3
goes silent.

Does this mean that the programmer only program to answer only one query?
Will a WE9.3 update fix this issue?

Stay well,
Manny

I am writing back to thank you on behalf of my client. Your increase cursor

Thank you,

Hi Michael,

I have to say this is not my experience; so perhaps the original user is using
some specific program which causes this to happen?

Having said that, one possible fix for this is to increase the cursor key delay
(found in the main WE windows, in the "Cursor Keys" settings, in the "options"
group).

If this is happening only in one program, I would create a .set file for that
program if one doesn't exist, then I'd recommend changing the scope of the
cursor key delay to "program" before increasing the delay value (which you will
have to experiment with to see how high you have to go before it works as
desired; I had to go to 20 recently). Changing the scope will cause the slight
delay before speaking which you are introducing to be limitted to just the
program in question. Be sure to save your .set file after making a change.

Hi WE Staff,

I'm posting the below query on behalf of WE user who is not member of this list.

-

Why is it that when I am reading down a list (made up of more than 10 items)
such as in Dropbox or items listed in my documents, Window Eyes repeats the
reading of the second item preceeding each item from there onwards. Same thing
happens if one is going up the list from the bottom. Is there a work around
this bug?

I wonder if the issue is related to Window-Eyes speaking tooltips displayed on
the screen. You can try turning off tooltips in Windows Explorer or disabling
the verbosity option in Window-Eyes to see if the problem goes away. If the
client would like to receive support directly from Ai Squared, please have them
contact us directly by phone or email.
