___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr ___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr
Re: [OSM-talk] Routing over areas
Routing through area can be solved in 1 of 3 ways, depending on how the routing engine is built and how it handles rules. 1) route along the edge, treating the area as a way. This is probably the easiest solution 2) cross the area in straight line from entry point to exit point, be aware that you might be routed through fountains or other obstackles 3) the most advanced way is to make the routing engine aware of multi poligon shapes and try to route you the shortest way around any obstackles. This solution will cost the routing engine a lot of memory and processor time As a work around you can create paths cutting the area to connect the common entry and exit points, this eay you get a reliable sane route independent of routing implementation Aun Johnsen Sent from my iPhone On 22. apr. 2015, at 09.00, talk-requ...@openstreetmap.org wrote: Subject: Re: [OSM-talk] Routing over areas Message-ID: CAJvDm4Pvb5Rgt1nMJ+FV3e0Ti_Vb8my4Rr7t3i=a9aqnbs1...@mail.gmail.com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8 On 21 April 2015 at 15:52, Svavar Kjarrval sva...@kjarrval.is wrote: I wonder if similar adjustments could be made for streets with a low speed limit, especially where there are no pedestrian crossings nearby (be it imperfect data or there aren't any). [Talk-GB] Can anyone help with mapping in Stanford-le-Hope?
Greetings, Is there a friendly mapper out there local to Stanford-le-Hope who wouldn’t mind surveying the new Sorrell’s Rounabout junction at The Manorway / Corringham Road? OSM at present has only part of the change and Google has slightly more (the top third of the new roundabout), but still not all of it. What is generally missing is the new Manorway alignment to the east of the roundabout. The net effect of the missing bits is that you cannot exit Corringham Road and head east on The Manorway. http://www.openstreetmap.org/node/29171779#map=16/51.5169/0.4458 also see http://www.volkerfitzpatrick.co.uk/dynamics/modules/SFIL0200/view.php?fil_Id=6373 for a “proper” diagram of the new road, but without sufficient locational detail on it to allow it to be mapped precisely.
It's also about reaching the type of numbers, with a top level tag, that will attract the interest of the osm-carto maintainers ( https://github.com/gravitystorm/openstreetmap-carto/pull/1466 ). I would certainly welcome and help promote some version of: *waste_allowed=black_water;tank_chemicals;grey_water;bilge_water;radiator_flushings* But waste_disposal:chemical_toilet=yes has already lead to significant confusion between cassette stations and walk up toilets, and between the type of connection point and the type of waste. A chemical_toilet has a specific connotation in the USA that's not this feature. And while we're at it excrement is impolite in USA English and not an alternative. All the UK tags are unclear because of this exact confusion: it's not possible to work out what's on the ground without visiting the site again. All 65 current continental European examples are the simple case and don't even need additional subtags. *Note: *To use a dump station I need several things: *my vehicle needs to fit, my vehicle needs to be of the allowed type, my connection needs to be compatible, the waste I have needs to be acceptable, I need to be allowed (e.g. be an overnight guest), and I might need to pay. * The tagging wants to get all that done in a manner that's clear over multiple languages. Keep in mind there are already French, German and Russian translations of the current scheme: this is a worldwide feature. Regarding grey water I am not sure if tagging makes sense. Does grey water really need dedicated stations for disposal? In doubt I'd keep the tag. There are in fact grey water *only* stations. Separately, a common tent camping feature is a dish washing station designed to keep campers from dumping dishwater on the ground. That's essentially the same feature: a place to dispose relatively clean water (no chemicals, no sewage, no bilge residue). -- Note that: 1) All presently mapped German stations are tagged as accepting both grey_water and sewage, and no site is mapped with chemical restrictions. but it was mentioned by Gmbo that not all sites that exist do accept chemical toilet waste. Yes, that's something I pointed out to Gmbo early on. The Gmbo scheme assumes the choice is binary: either chemical additives are allowed or not, and that the restriction may not even be visible at the site. The reality is more complex. Some sites operate off a septic field and allow some chemicals and not others. I see this as far beyond the scope of OSM to try and tag. Thus some form of: *sanitary_dump_station:chemical_restrictions=inquire_locally* Is proposed. To assume people will tag chemicals_allowed=yes on the tens of thousands of normal facilities is unrealistic, just like asking people to tag unremarkable trees with denotation=cluster was unrealistic. Tag the exception, not the rule. 2) German mapper Gmbo has designed a tagging scheme for describing stations in more detail: receptor type, height of the drain, chemical restrictions, grey water only facilities. Those tags can be added to the above, by a mapper who knows the local area and station types. No information will be lost. +1 3) There is separate tagging for marine facilities for boats, as it is improper to direct a motorhome driver to use a marine-only facility. sounds reasonable ___ Talk-de mailing list Talk-de@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-de

First, I answer myself: The PhantomNode structure elements (forward_node_id, reverse_node_id, etc) are set in different methods/functions in StaticRTree class and are very similar to EdgeBasedNode structure. The ids of nodes in EdgeBasedNode structure are different from internal nodes ids (OSRM). The EdegeBasedNode structure have u and v elements, that are the indices of internal nodes (OSRM id). With them, you can find the coordinates of each node of the segment and / or the original node id (OSM id). The PhantomNode structure do not have u and v elements (why?). Then, what is the best way to get the internal id (OSRM) from forward_node_id and reverse_node_id of each PhantomNode?. Thanks. Fernando. Is there any intrinsic difference between one for boats and one for motorhomes? If they are actually pretty much the same thing, maybe the difference would better be expressed by access=customers or purely geometric/geographic properties. Re: [Talk-GB] elsan_points
I too have problems with the name of this proposed tag, as follows: 1) It's not recognisably British English. This has been the default for tag names since the inception of the project, mainly to avoid natural complications when en-us and en-gb differ. As a native Brit I wouldn't have a clue what this tag was supposed to mean on its own. 2) As Lester says, sanitary has the wrong connotations 3) Dump is colloquial en-gb for defecation. 4) Stations are places I catch trains. Despite objections to a trade name, the current tag does reflect what these are called by waterway users in the UK. Elsan has long entered standard english as a synonym for chemical toilet. Personally I would have tried to choose something a little more generic at the outset to help mappers outwith the British Isles, but the current suggestion really doesnt help either. Ideally tags suggest what they refer to ('duck tagging') and do not require navigating the wiki to find elaborate circumlocutions for something which is really straightforward.
If they are actually pretty much the same thing, maybe the difference would better be expressed by *access=customers* or purely *geometric*/geographic properties Yes, there are intrinsic differences for marine and land facilities. And *access=customers* has a specific different definition here, as it is common for a pump-out or dump station to be restricted only to paying overnight guests at the facility (e.g. you can't even pay to use it unless you're staying overnight). Purely *geometric* properties don't work, as fuel station tagging shows. Proximity to the water's edge or a marina polygon does not itself disambiguate the feature type. The new tagging style covers a lot of bases: maybe not all, but many more than any of the dozen or so informal methods. The terms were also chosen carefully for worldwide use. Chemical Dump Point or CDP was found in the UK, and Dump station is well recognized in the USA Australia and NZ. Sanitary is a pretty icky word, but not nearly as rude as excrement, for the USA. Elsan was objected to as a brand name not a generic type. Of the 200 or so stations I found in searching note, description, and recycling tags, most used some form of the word dump for land station and pump for marine pumpouts. A small group of nodes are tagged Elsan along British canals. The term human effluent did not come up in that discussion, but would also be suitable (though effluent is likely never taught in the public schools in the USA) The choice of the exact wording of the tag is not as important as seeking common tagging for a common feature. Where would we be if every country used it's own word for highway. Marine and land facilities are different, but there's no on the ground difference between a comfort station and a toilet. ___ Talk-GB mailing list Talk-GB@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb

___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr ___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr
Re: [Talk-de] Updating motorhome dump station tagging (English)
2015-04-21 21:20 GMT+02:00 Bryce Nesbitt bry...@obviously.com: amenity=waste_disposal name=Aire de services camping-car waste_disposal:chemical_toilet=yes waste_disposal:grey_water=yes To: amenity=sanitary_dump_station name=Aire de services camping-car Why would we remove the tags waste_disposal:chemical_toilet=yes waste_disposal:grey_water=yes ? I know that your point of view is that these are implicit in the sanitary_dump_station tag, but as others have pointed out, there are biological dump stations where you can't get rid of your chemicals. Do you suggest these biological places should get a different main tag? Or that we only tag waste_disposal:chemical_toilet=no in case they do not accept chemicals? If it's the latter I am opposing this because defaults are practically impossible to have in an open system like OSM (you never know if a value should be the default value, or if the data is incomplete). Regarding grey water I am not sure if tagging makes sense. Does grey water really need dedicated stations for disposal? In doubt I'd keep the tag. -- Note that: 1) All presently mapped German stations are tagged as accepting both grey_water and sewage, and no site is mapped with chemical restrictions. but it was mentioned by Gmbo that not all sites that exist do accept chemical toilet waste. 2) German mapper Gmbo has designed a tagging scheme for describing stations in more detail: receptor type, height of the drain, chemical restrictions, grey water only facilities. Those tags can be added to the above, by a mapper who knows the local area and station types. No information will be lost. +1 3) There is separate tagging for marine facilities for boats, as it is improper to direct a motorhome driver to use a marine-only facility. sounds reasonable 4) The waste_disposal:chemical_toilet tagging appears only in Europe: the USA/Mexico/Canada and Australia/New Zealand use the amenity=sanitary_dump_station style now. This can have several reasons: a) you don't have other kind of stations that do not accept these, so there doesn't seem need for the tag b) the tagging is still immature and will be improved later on In any case it doesn't seem to be an argument for either side. Re: [Talk-it] Mapping Party Mozzecane (VR) - 23 maggio 2015
Chi abita in zona naturalmente è invitato! Bravi! [OSM-talk-fr] guichet
