Re: Common filter isses

2004-09-09 Thread MAU
Hello Marck,

MAU I think NFS is still quite green in some areas.

I think so. There are random failures. Drag the missed messages back
to the Inbox (if they're not still there), refilter and it all works
as expected. I think there may be timing issues involved here too.

The failures _appear_ to be random. If given a set of circumstances and
timing a program fails, it will fail again if the same set of
circumstances and timing is exactly repeated. Some times, the difficulty
in debugging some apparent random failures is that, knowing which was
the set of circumstances and timing and being able to repeat them.

Hello MAU,

On Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 4:37:13 PM you [M] wrote (at least
in part):

M 4.- Actions possible before and after a Move.

Agreed to the compromise, as this is what I'd call the natural way :-)

M Yes, but the natural way should be clearly explained to the users just
M in case.

Well, OK. That's done quite fast and easy:

A filter treats a message in top-down order of instructions.
Everything is performed and applied on 'the message' where ever it
might be currently located. A 'copy' actions creates an anonymous
duplicate in the desired destination, which is not available for
further actions. Everything done to a message after a 'delete' action
is treated as 'not done anyway', because there is nothing left that
could actions be performed on.

All in all this description should cover most of what's the essence ;-)

Or even shorter:

Don't care for where the message is, just deal with it. A 'copy'
action does not create a new handle to deal with, but only a duplicate
manifestation of the message with all it's states. A 'delete'
action disables you to do anything with this message from point of
deletion downwards.

M Since the filter have names, what about including unstructured 'GO
M TO filter' as a possible action?

*woaaa* That'll open a can of worms :-)

M I knew it! I knew it! ;-) But they were so useful! Not allowing them in
M modern languages is a way of, as 9Val would say, spying on the
M programmers ;-)

Name it as you like, unstructured is the key. ;-)
Modern languages include GOTO (or similar) construct, but using them
is a matter that should be thought about twice.
As we don't have complex syntax abilities for avoiding loops I'd say
it's a bad idea to implement GOTO-like possibilities.
You simply can't set a variable been here which can be checked
second time a filter is entered, and therefore you're extremely
limited in abilities to break a filter loop, created by GOTO.
Implementing GOTO in NFS would IMHO require a quite complex filtering
syntax near to a filtering programming language. This would require
implementing something like 'procmail' or 'maildrop' with all it's
control structures and abilities. Unless something like this is
implemented I don't see good reasons to provide structural elements
like mentioned GOTO :-)

Hello Mike and Alexey, Hello List,

When I had that problem with an earlier version of beyesit, deleting
all the data stores and retraining fixed the problem. That led me to
guess that it was a problem with something corrupted in the store that
 was hanging the system.

You might try that and see if it fixes your problem. If so then maybe
Alexey can figure out how to make BeyesIt less sensitive to data
 corruption.

I tryed, and it did fix the Problem...

BayesIt 0.6.2: No logging of e-mail except whitelist

2004-09-09 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

Not sure if there is a better place for BayesIt questions as many
seem to go unanswered here, but:

I just installed BaysiIt 0.6.2, with improved error logging.
It now reports all messages in the log that meet the whitelist
criteria, but nothing else.

Also when you mark messages as spam, fairly regularly I get AV's.

Can the author of this please provide some feedback so we can get this
working better.

Re: IMAP Connection Center - Copy from local into ?

2004-09-09 Thread 9Val
Hello Jonathan,

JA content, and there is no folder. I've not told TB to copy files from
JA any local folders, in fact, the only copying I've done is deleting
JA emails (which moves messages to a server side trash folder). These
JA tasks stay in the connection center indefinitely.

Do they freeze queue or just staying useless?

JA Reopening TB doesn't
JA remove them, and telling TB to remove that task just brings them back
JA on a reconnect to the IMAP server, or a TB reload. It seems to only
JA plague one of my mail accounts as well.

Try to close TB! and delete account.icm file (cache of commands)

JA http://thebat.netdork.net/imap_conn_center.png

JA Anybody else seeing this?

JA As a side note, memory issues are still not fixed. 102MB VM being
JA used, and TB has only been open for 30 minutes at the most.

Wait a little, problem is that for seeing memory leaks you encountered
I need to run TB! continiously for at least 1 hour, which is
impossible now :(

Re: NFS: Wrapping up on Big question for 9Val thread

2004-09-09 Thread MAU
Hello Peter,

 Or even shorter:

Don't care for where the message is, just deal with it. A 'copy'
action does not create a new handle to deal with, but only a duplicate
manifestation of the message with all it's states. A 'delete'
action disables you to do anything with this message from point of
 deletion downwards.

Hey! You look like a good candidate to write TB's HELP. ;-)

Unless something like this is implemented I don't see good reasons to
provide structural elements like mentioned GOTO :-)

I don't feel any strong need for them. I was asking and you answered. :)

I know. But I'd like to see NFS flawlessly and proven reliable before

Re: Problems with native lng versions...

2004-09-09 Thread Michael Geyer
Hi Mary and list,

On Friday, September 10, 2004 at 17:07:57 GMT -0500 (which was 00:07
where I live) Mary Bull wrote (at least in parts) and made these
valuable points on the subject of Problems with native lng
versions...:

Invalid HTML may even be fixed. Haven't had one yet with .11.

Hopefully - but I'm inclined to say might - 3.0.0.11 is only running
half an hour - in 3.0.0.8 it lasted two days without. Then that drove
me nuts.

Ahh well - 3.0.0.10 was even worse - took 2 minutes for the first one
to appear.
