I'm glad of this too, as I'd virtually stopped using the address book in TB in

Problem forwarding from IMAP

2009-02-20 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

For a while now I've had problems forwarding emails from an IMAP account using
TB. When I forward a message I get the error shown in the screenshot, not every
message fails but mainly those with attachments. When I try an alternative
forward I'm prompted to download the entire message, even though it appears to
be downloaded already, and from then on forwarding and alt forwarding work. So
it must be some sort of problem with forwarding IMAP messages with attachments.
I don't know what the difference is between alt-forward and forward but it
clearly makes a difference.

Has anyone else come across this or have any advice on how to get normal
forwarding working?

Yes I spotted this whilst trying to troubleshoot the issue, it took me

No, it is an account filter. I have an account filter set up for
TBBeta, based on the recipient and this subfilter is underneath it.

I've discovered the problem, I have another subfilter which is
(correctly) marking messages as read and grey - this accounts for the
messages I mentioned in my earlier mail. The filter marks all messages
with the word "Voyager" in the title as read and grey. I checked all
of my other filters when trying to solve this except that one! Sorry
for the waste of time.

Messages Filtered incorrectly

2007-02-18 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I have a filter which I use to mark any messages in TBBeta with "Mod:"
in the title as read and assign them the colour grey. The subfilter works
fine, however some messages get marked as grey by the filter despite
now apparently matching the criteria. So for example, messages:
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED],
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] and mid: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
are the ones which appear to have triggered the filter. Here is the
detail of the filter:

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [A9C0CE7E.01C598BB.2E94CBBA.57CC66A6]
Name: Mod:\20Posting
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`2`6`Mod:\20\0D\0A}
MarkRead
SetColour 68745
IsActive
Ignore
endFilter

As far as I can tell everything seems to be in order with the filter.
Can anyone spot what the problem is?

Backup & Address book Photos

2007-01-22 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I have come across a problem with the Address book and backing up. I
use the Photo feature of the address book which allows you to add a
picture to an address book entry. This works great, however when you
back up and subsequently restore that backup the links to the photos
are gone. At first I thought that TB may just be saving the link
rather than the photo itself. However even restoring the original
photos to the correct location doesn't restore the pictures in the
address book. So it seems that despite selecting the address book in
the backup process no detail about the photo is backed up. Any
confirmations or comments?

I believe that I may have the same issue. However in my case I've only
had it a few times since I upgraded to 3.95.6. I don't think that it
happened before this build. In my case two accounts seem to have the
problem intermittently. It is easy to resolve by deleting the tasks
from the Connection Manager and then doing a "Get new mail". I don't
recall anyone else reporting the problem in TBBETA or TUDL. I'm sure
some of the old hands will have some advice.

Yes, I noticed that too. That was one of the main reasons I always

I've had a problem for a while, which I thought that I would mention

attachments whilst they are included are of 0 bytes. Doing this same
action in a non-IMAP account works fine, the attachments are sent
correctly. IS there a setting that could be affecting this? Do any of

I'm guessing, by the look of the screenshot, that you have large fonts

This reminds me of an issue I came across when using TB with MAPI
against an Exchange server:

there seems to be some commonality. I've not tested it recently

Searching Issue

2006-04-18 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the following before I post to BT.
Using the Search box at the top of a list of messages run a search for
a keyword. Once the search has completed right-click on the search box
and select the "Cancel filtering" option, now delete what you typed
into the search box and press enter. On pressing enter TB seems to run
your previous search even though nothing is in the search box.

I've used IMAP in TB quite extensively over the last few weeks and
I've occasionally noticed this problem. More often than not I delete
the command that is hanging using the Connection manager, then when I
ask it to do something else it fixes itself. This happens most
frequently when marking messages as read and when downloading message
content.

I can confirm that the cancel button isn't there, however it isn't

obvious way of cancelling unwanted changes. I imagine that this is
perhaps more by design than as a result of a bug.

I'd appreciate a confirmation or two on the following issue, regarding

Accelerator problem when searching

I needed to search for all messages containing the string H&R, now if

because ampersands are normally used to define accelerators on

IMAP: Forwarding emails with Attachments

2006-03-20 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I'm using an IMAP account and I'm trying to forward on an email which has two
attachments. Now the first time I tried this I assumed that when forwarding the
email the attachments would go with it, however it appears that when an email
is the attached files are sent but with a size of 0 bytes! So I then tried
Redirecting the message but that produce a virtually identical result. If I do
exactly the same thing from a POP3 account the attachments turn up as expected.
Does anyone know whether this functionality is by design or if it is a bug? My
feeling is that it is a bug, or at the very least highly inconsistent
behaviour.

Search Weirdness!

It may not be a TB! issue. Uxtheme.dll is often replaced by programs that skin
windows, it is a standard dll and these programs replace it with another
altered file. I would check and see whether she has had installed or has
currently installed a program like StyleXP (http://themes.belchfire.net) that
alter uxtheme.dll. If that doesn't work try setting the default theme back to
"Default (Window)".

Mine was preserved, perhaps it only overwrites it if the message base is stored

Errors whilst backing up IMAP folders

2006-03-15 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I have a problem when backing up my version of TB. Recently I added a new IMAP
account which synchronised some key folders including the Inbox from an account
on an Exchange Server. On backing up, everything goes fine as normal until I
reach the new IMAP folder. At which point I get about 100 errors pop up on the
screen which says:

"An error occurred while storing data of the folder XXX. It is possible that
the message base index file is damaged - try to delete the index file and
re-read the file, then try to backup again."

After receiving this I did "Check Integrity/Repair" from the Folder Maintenance
Centre which seemed to fix some damaged folders (although not as many as those
stated by the backup errors). However a subsequent backup still resulted in the
same errors. Now it appears that an apparently identical issue was reported as
an potential bug last May (https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4597). I've
already carried out 9Val's suggestion in the bug report of carrying out a
folder maintenance. According to the error message there is an index file that
I should try to delete, does anyone know what this file is called? I'm guessing
from looking in the folder that it is probably called either xxx.tbb or xxx.tbi
and I would guess that it's the .tbi one! Could someone confirm?

thanks,

Paul

AB entries in Instant address box

2006-01-30 Thread Paul Meathrel
Hi all,

I have a single contact with four email addresses in the AB. This contact only
appears once in the AB. The ""Add this address to the instant address pop-up
menu"" option for this contact in the AB is ticked. However when I create an
email and type in the first name of the contact (into To:) only two of the
contacts addresses appear in the drop down, two are missing! Also one of the
addresses appears twice.

E.g. Contact has four addresses [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL
PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED]

When I type the firstname associated with the contact in the To: box, I get the
following options:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

but [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] are missing!

I hope that this makes sense and one of you excellent people are able once
again to shed some light for me!

Thanks Roelof, that makes sense. I've tested it here and it works in just the
way that describe. Maybe the description of the option needs changing, since
the other options on that tab seem to act outside of the address book. Even
though it's doesn't appear to be a bug I would be in favour of changing it's
function in the way that Jon describes. I often find myself adding multiple

As a newish TB user I recently tried TB at work against an MS Exchange server,
this simply resulted in me giving up, because it just isn't stable or reliable
in my experience. I've filed a few bugs, however they are the sort of things
that some basic testing could have uncovered.

From browsing the benefits on RITLabs web site

Would be nice, that's one thing I miss having moved from Thunderbird, is the

I've reported this issue, which I can replicate reliably with the current
release (3.64.01), into BT (https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5500). I've
also added a couple of other IMAP related issues as well.

Got it, that works fine now. Thanks all for your patience. I'd still rather
have it on the right-click menu on a folder, rather than having to highlight a
folder and then click on name - I don't find it particularly intuitive.
