Possible bug

2006-08-31 Thread Leif Gregory
Hello,

http://xn--ovg.com/watermark

If you open the above URL in a browser (at least FF and IE) directly,
it works fine. However, if you click on it from an e-mail from within
TB, I always get an invalid URL error in the browser (FF).

It seems like somewhere along the line, TB is parsing or munging the
URL when it passes it to the browser. However, it could be a FF issue
as that's my default browser.

Can some of you with FF and with other browsers set as your default
test this for me?

Thanks.

Dear All,
I've find the following:

like to use Special SMTP authentication. In the 'older' versions it's
worked corretly. Now, I made the necesary changes, clicks on OK, close
the Preferences tab. After it if I reopen the SMTP Authentication page
it's still 'regular'
Anyone can confirm it?

Possible bug?

2004-11-09 Thread shemming
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I've been having a few problems with the Exchange Server here;
occasionally it just refuses to relay mail out of the building. When
this is happening and I try and send a message I get a dialog box
showing a message something like ..

Message has not been sent. Server reply - 5.7.1 Unable to relay for
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

However, if I've just dropped the message in the outbox and the system
does a timed fetch/send there is no external indication that the
message has not been sent (although the log is correctly updated). The
danger of this is that if there is a problem with the server I might
not know about it unless I create a message and send it immediately.

I appreciate that it may be difficult to confirm this one without
purposely throwing a spanner at your server.

Possible Bug?

2001-07-31 Thread Dean

Hello,
I was trying to set up a very limited account for one of my
employees. This person is highly non pc oriented, therefore I
wanted to severely limit the capabilities as a user.

1) (the bug?) I made a shortcut for this person
   Target: "D:\THE BAT!\thebat.exe"
   Start in: D:\THE BAT!\Mail\(the person)
The response is TheBat opens with all accounts exposed. Full access to
admin rights. Therefore, if anyone wanted to change the properties of
the original shortcut, they could easily bypass any administration
decisions of their usage. In this case This person wouldn't know how
to do such a thing, however, in other situations this severely limits
Administration capabilities.

Any thoughts or has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way to set an icon just for one person so that it goes to
their sign in box? I've checked the Faq's and read the manual if it
was there and I havn't already tried it I don't know where else to
look.

Works fine here from within Voyager. For what that's worth.

Don't know how I'm set up differently.

The link works just fine here in Opera 9.

So then, I opened FireFox and set it (temporarily) to be my default
browser, and then closed it.

The link worked just fine in FF.

So then I tried again, each time with the browser already opened.

Again, no problem with either FF or O9.

No idea what the issue is. Sorry I couldn't reproduce.

Oh! Just now had a thought to look at your message in View Source. I
see that you're running .16. But, that couldn't be the problem,
because Richard is running RC.17, and he confirms.

I also believed that the '--' in the URL was what was throwing TB. I
decided to test it real quick and sent the link to my work e-mail
which is via Outlook (same machine though). I get the same error
there. So it's not TB. I'm confused that you're on Opera and get the
same error I do. I'll have to think on this.

> Strange indeed but not life threatening. Leif threatening, maybe :-)

Agreed I've only ever run into this problem with just that domain
name, and I've only gone there maybe three times in the last year
or two (he throws up some PHP stuff that interests me occasionally).
Since it happened across multiple versions of FF, and I've never seen
anything on the mailinglist where others complained about not getting
there I figured the only thing left was TB.

Me threatening? Nah... Well, unless I'm wielding a trout!

Anyway, I cc'd this to TBOT so we can discuss more since it's not a TB
problem.

Not really, but you can check the Wikipedia article about int'l domain
names: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Domain_Names and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punycode - but the converter mentioned in
the 2nd article http://www.motobit.com/util/punycode-decoder-encoder.asp
reveals that xn--ovg.com has no unicode representation - and this
probably is the reason why the browsers choke on the URL.

I use deferred delivery all of the time and it works fine. I have a

What do you mean by "The Send Button"? There are three icons and many
hotkeys. Icon 1 is "Send immediately". Icon 2 is "Place in outbox".
Icon 3 is "Place draft in outbox". Use the 3rd option for complete
deferral. Also, make sure that "Combined delivery" is not not checked

Yes, my setting for TBBETA/UDL folders is 7 days. TB appears to keep
messages for 8 days. It deletes messages with a received date up to 6
May 11:11 (it is 14 May 11:11 now).

This counting bug has been long-standing as far as I can remember, or
perhaps I just don't understand how the feature works...?

Autoreply filter - possible bug?

2005-06-30 Thread Terry
Don't know if this is a bug or not as I've never used an autoreply
filter before.

I created a filter that creates and sends an automatic reply triggered
when there is certain text in the subject. I tested it and it worked
great however the sent message is not in my sent folder. Is this
normal behaviour? I would have expected a copy to be placed in the
sent folder.

Thanks for your help.

ST> Is it so hot down here? I just do not understand what you mean...

Let me try to be a bit more explicit, I probably shouldn't send
messages on two hours of sleep;) That is why I like to hold them in
the OutBox until I have had a chance to re-edit/ send messages.

Explanation: In previous Bat versions, I had the deferred setting
for accounts checked. This option was transferring all messages I
had replied to, or new post I had written to the Outbox. The
messages would stay in the Outbox until I chose to send them.

With this latest version of the Bat 1.45 /5 That function has
disappeared. As soon as I hit the send button the messages go
flying into the net. I have cable/constant connection. I no longer
have control of when I can send messages, at least not according to
the past rules.

Rules currently being used.
Account:
Transport: Delivery = X for deferred.

Something else I have tried. Created a new rule for the Outbox
Sorting office: Outgoing
New rule:under options Send generated messages Queue in Outbox
checked, no check for send immediately.

I have checked to see if all my rules for each folder are set the
same with Queue in Outbox. They are.

Basically the Option to send all Queued mail from all under Tools,
is not needed as nothing is queued.

I hope that helps, if needed I will try to be more explicit just
tell me what you would like.

As it says in my sig: pop3 ;-)
Does it matter whether you use in the filter options:
Send message: according to account settings/ immediately/ queue in outbox
Are you using a local or a remote outbox, from the imap discussions
I've gathered that that causes different behaviour.

Re[2]: Autoreply filter - possible bug?

2005-07-03 Thread Terry
Hi Roelof,

I need to make a change to my previous answer.

I never thought of looking in the Outbox since the mail had been sent.
No counters ever changed and there was no indication that any mail was
in that folder.

I happened to check it and a copy of the sent mail is visible in the
local Outbox, but it's still not moved to the sent folder.

Using the remote Outbox, a copy of the mail can be found if you
browse the deleted messages. Still not moved to the sent folder. So
bottom line is that it's just not being moved to the sent folder.

Ah well Time to add these notes to my bug report. Thanks for your
help.

works fine here but with regards to your settings... is the TB beta
.exe in your TB directory path? I use to keep my beta executable is a
separate directory so I could keep the non beta exe available. It
worked okay but some features would not work like PGP encrypt/decrypt,
PGP verify SIG, and any time I accessed help I would have to manually
find the help file.

possible bug with new taskbar setting

2001-07-04 Thread Jason J Thompson

Hi all,

I may have found a bug, but I would like a confirmation before I send
in a bug report.

When the "do not display program icon on task bar" option became
available some version in the past, I enabled it. Now I want to
disable it. I uncheck that option in Preferences : General, click OK,
nothing changes. Go back into Preferences, and...hey! The option has
been re-enabled! A restart of TB does not help. I guess I can look
around in the registry, but... I want the Bat UI to work. :-)

Confirm, anyone?

Maybe you should upgrade to v1.53d before sending the bug report, I think this
will be fixed with this version :-)

If I am not mistaken or did misunderstand you, just "update" to 1.53d
(you will only need the executable available from the beta testers
page) and your problem will be gone.

I can't confirm this bug, it works for me (v1.46 Beta/3). You must look in
the address book which is preselected for adding and deleting of addresses.

Best regards

Leif,

Regarding your message dated: 09 August 2000...

LG> Most likely your default for add/deletes got changed somewhere.

..

That fixed things. Okay, obviously the only bug is in my claim to
omniscience should I ever make such a claim. Thanks for the
easy-to-follow instructions and the solution to my problem.

Best wishes,

Mark

SOT Sticky keys - was Re: Ritlabs SecureBat! - possible bug discussion - Ctrl pressed?!

Depends on your keyboard, but most you can gently pry (using a flat
bladed screwdriver) on the underside of the sticky key. It will pop
out, then you can clean the affected area with isopropyl alcohol.

Most sticky keys can be fixed this way. However if your problem was
say a spilled sugary drink (but that usually affects a number of keys,
not just one), the problem could be the sticky substance is between
the membrane and the PCB (printed circuit board). If this is the case,
you have to take the keyboard apart.

This isn't too difficult either, just flip the keyboard over (keys
facing down, and put something along the underside edges of the
keyboard (to keep the keys from actually touching the tabletop, then
unscrew the back off, maybe have to unscrew the PCB, then lift the PCB
out. Just be careful not to knock the front faceplate of the keyboard
off the spacers you put to key the keys off the tabletop, or the keys
(depending on how they are set in there) will come out of the
faceplate, because then you'd get to play "Does the "S" key go on the
left side of the "D" or the right?" Once the PCB is pulled out,
you can separate the rubber membrane from it and clean both with
Isopropyl alcohol.

While you wouldn't get zapped, it's always a good idea to do this
with the keyboard unplugged. Saves you from getting a bunch of
extraneous keystrokes to the computer as well while you're fiddling
with it.

I've repaired/cleaned many a computer operator's keyboard after they
spilled coffee or soda in it.

Cheers,
Leif Gregory
