No, no. Let that not be. Such a despicable behaviour originating in Microsoft Office applications. If there is something you find wrong with some menus, just spell it out. I don't think we need to add an option in some weird place to skewer the menu system like that. I think you can find all the common functions on the Tool Bars. TB! uses plugins that provide simple, straightforward hooks to PGP/GnuPG which are installed separately. If you wish to know how to use PGP in TB!, you need to know how to use PGP in general. I agree wholeheartedly with Dierk here. Read the PGP manual and you'll be OK. Another thing you can do is to join the PGP-Basics list where using PGP with TB! is often discussed. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Funny the discussions are not usually about how to actually use PGP with TB!. They're usually about installing the plugin and how to use PGP itself. The plug-in just works. There are some macros that you can use to help with autosigning messages but again, these are pretty straightforward. - -- -=Allie C Martin=- List Moderator | TB! v1.60q | Windows XP Pro PGP/GPG Public Key: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=2B0717E2 _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iEYEARECAAYFAj0L8TkACgkQV8nrYCsHF+IeJwCgoa3eEo7u3/SZcVMHXJ/nDS2H JYwAoLgEokEOqQ58lGlSwMWxjVzVV0uq =nB+u -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current Ver: 1.60q FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

Now your messages are deleted as soon as they're one day old. Set the folder properties to keep 1 message in the folder. (Don't know whether zero messages is valid) and purge and compress on exit. Now you're messages are deleted as soon as you exit TB. Both options have the advantage that they're fully automatic, but that's their disadvantage too. The messages get also deleted when you don't backup. (you're ill, on holiday, whatever) The third option is to create a batch file (that's dos talk) to delete the messages.tbb and messages.tbi of the respective folders. Create a shortcut on your desktop to this batch file and you can delete all of your messages whenever you feel like it. When you're not familiar with batch files, post the folders you want to get rid of, including the full path of your account and I'll take a look at it. I dislike the ticker sprawling across the screen and I don't really wish to read any of it's content either, so I set it to thin view, use a small font, and disable autozoom. I then make it as thin as possible which reduces it to a small bar in the left lower corner of my screen. If you configure the ticker in the same way and still prefer your solution because you dislike the ticker which is quite inconspicuous as I have mine, then it's really odd. The 'I dislike the ticker' statements followed by the description of awkward work-arounds to problems that the ticker would *much* better handle is a mystery to me, especially since the ticker doesn't have to be conspicuous and in the way. - -- -=Allie C Martin=- List Moderator | TB! v1.60q | Windows XP Pro PGP/GPG Public Key: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Subject=2B0717E2 _ -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iEYEARECAAYFAj0LakQACgkQV8nrYCsHF+Lp+QCfaeYnyE5Tywz55LCnJzlGkOlf cHsAoKl5Rf6FIHCy+HhJmax7Un9sr/NR =dyhN -END PGP SIGNATURE- Current Ver: 1.60q FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

I've used Eudora for more than a year and AOL for some weeks.I've used Agent for some time as a newsreader (still unbeaten) and a few weeks for e-mail before finding TB! I have to use OE at work - actually I just converted to Entourage, the Mac version of LookOut. I once had to use Netscape on Mac. Guess what, TB! is much easier for basic features and far above all of them for advanced features. Main problem is, TB! has so much features, you won't know all of them in years. Tested. Apart from some features that sold me on TB! it was it's ease of use - it took me only three days to test TB! and gladly pay for it. BUT, I've long since given up on being a computer Messiah. If people want OE/O/Entourage ... etc. let them use it. If they have the time and interest I show them TB! or refer them to the trial version. Most of them get sold on TB! Easy of use
I have some point that the bat must consider it. One of the important one: It is EASY OF USE. Let test this way: 1. Ask somebody who never operate an email client, ask them to operate TheBat, Outlook, Outlook express, Netscape and Opera. Without any instruction or with very small instruction. 2. Ask somebody who can operate one of the email client but never try the bat, or backward somebody who can use the bat but never use other email client. To try the email client. 3. After somebody using email client ask them some function. Simple medium or advanced. Others. After that ask them: How easy the bat compared to other email client. How long it takes to learn about main function After that how easy we can remember a function which we ever use. When we need it next time. Or how many times we forget about some function when we needed again. How easy we can guess a icon meaning, or where some function si hiding behind, etc. Regards, Utomo Current Ver: 1.60q FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

TB already has a switch in the Account properties "Templates | Reply" tab to turn off the "FROM name with Reply-To addresses". Users of TB and TBUDL have a much better option. In the Account Properties box, go to Templates, & then into the Reply template. At the bottom there's a check-box which says "Do not use >From name for Reply to" or something similar to that. You check that box, & TB will now use the email address name in the To: field rather than the name of the person who wrote the post you're replying to :-) Deborah Current Ver: 1.60q FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Bug Reports: https://bt.ritlabs.com

The bat 1.60q suggestion
Hi, I have some suggestion for the bat: 1. Reply to (mainly in mailing list) better if using the original mailing list name, not the author name, sometime this can confuse people. 2. Add option to use single folder for all email account. 3. Add NAV and McAfee virus checking plugin 4. Add more help/explanation about PGP, now I think not enough. 5. Add option to configure toolbar, including the icon so more familiar to new user. 6. Add Function to auto route the smtp according to our active ISP. Look at Auto route from mailutilities. So we did not need to change the setting when we change the dialup. Re[2]: Flying tray icon
Hi Peter, PP> For exactly the situation you described I _do_ use 'Mail ticker' :-) It's a good solution if you can stand the mailticker, which unfortunately I can't :-) So here's what I've done: For the mail that doesn't require my immediate attention (like this list), I've told the sorting office to flag all incoming messages as 'read'. I don't use threading, so whereever the cursor is when I look in the folder, is the last message that I'd already seen. It's not ideal, but it keeps the Bat-icon from grabbing my attention al the time. To ensure that TB is exiting properly, I chose Exit from the Message menu, then restarted TB. The Mail Ticker returned to the centre of the screen. I logged off as myself and logged on as Administrator, then repositioned the MT -- the settings stuck. When I logged back on as myself, the MT was at the position I left it while logged on as Administrator.
