Scroll Wheel Problem

2003-12-14 Thread Michael S. Greenbaum
I'm using TB 2.02.3 on a computer running Windows XP.

For some reason, my mouse scroll wheel doesn't work in TB. It's fine
in all my other programs, but not in TB. I'm using a Logitech
MouseMan Wheel connected to a USB port and I'm using Logitech's
mouseware software to configure the mouse (can't seem to locate the
version number).

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions how I can get the
wheel to work?

Thanks.

Mike

Not only that, a) don't want to share the message's window with a list
of messages in the folder - especially since that is already in the
other windows, and b) it still doesn't solve the problem of no mention
of the current folder in the main window.

Under Windows XP Professionnal SP1 Fr, and an "old" Logitech

the wheel works fine.

I have the following drivers/softwares:
- keyboard: it213fra.exe

I found no options in the settings for disabling the wheel.

think that the whole view modes thing in The Bat! is a little buggy...

Same here, the view that the folder shows when right clicking on
it is not the one that the folder properties will show.
(in my case the right click will show none)

Yes, it is. But the '>' is a common standard for all mail clients, so
a different character won't be recognized by lots of them. (Inluding
TB) So changing it won't give you your desired result.

S> cause I like to make arrows --> and sometimes when the line is at the beginning,

Precede lines with arrows by two spaces.
--> This shows as bold
--> This doesn't show as bold
I hope this helps.
When you don't like your lines to start on different cursor positions,
you might decide to start all your lines on position 3. TB will start
each line on the same position as the line above, so that might be
easier than you think. (Depending on the editor you're using in TB)

I'm not sure what you'd like to achieve. With the option 'Save address
book set' you're saving your configuration, that is what address books
you're using.
Let's say you've got five AB's, three of them are used when you're
doing your personal mail and a different combo of three is being used
when you're busy with work. Now you can save those sets as
personal.ini and business.ini. Next time you want to change from
business to personal, you just load the personal set, that's easier
than closing two AB's and opening two other AB's...

The address books themselves are saved automatically when you're
adding new entries to them.
When you want to save the entries in your AB to a different file, you
should select those entries and use the export function in your AB.
File -> Export to -> Pick your export type

Have you tried it? It will show the message list at the top, which I
appreciate. But you can make the list invisible, so the whole window
is only for this message.

You could turn the message preview in the main window off. ;-)

The main window is for the application. I know of no software that
will change the title according to which part of the window is
focussed. I personally wouldn't like the title to change all the time,
but that's just my opinion.

This won't help you much, but I have no problems with the scroll
wheel:

At home I use a Creative mouse (I didn't know that brand either, it
was the cheapest), and the driver installed itself from the Windows
directory upon first startup after I had connected it to the USB port.
Win98.

In the office I use XP Pro with an HP mouse, but I don't know about
the driver, as the IT department installed everything for me when I
started. In fact, the beauty of being able to use the scroll wheel
with TB in the office was the reason why I bought such a mouse for my
home computer.

This is my take on things.

There are some who prefer to keep things simple and they may wish to
work globally with a particular view mode.

The view mode settings invoked via the main window's message list header
bar are global. Selecting a particular view there leads to the view
being applied on all folders across all accounts. It does seem to
over-ride all other folder specific settings.

However, if you wish to be more complicated, i.e., use specific view
modes for specific folders etc., then you can't apply a global view and
instead have to set that global view mode to 'none'.

IMO, this setup seems reasonable to me, except that from a user
interface standpoint, it's misleading and far from intuitive in design.
I have a problem with such a global setting being accessible from the
message list header bar. Intuitively, one would assume that the menu for
the message list header bar would apply to that particular folders
message list. Every other View Mode menu does this, so it only
follows

What do you think?

The plugin I installed in the Bat is called Bayesit. (sorry for

installed plug in in The bat I have hang ups with the bat.

"sticky" templates

2003-12-14 Thread ken green
When using an address book template, if I use the %REPLYTO="" macro for
new messages, the account template I have set up for new messages gets
erased. For instance, the signature file I use with the account
disappears.

This only happens with new messages. Replies do not seem to be
affected. Also, the same thing happens using a folder template (new
messages lose the template, but replies do not.)

Currently, I just copy the account template for new messages to the
address book template. But this seems like unnecessary effort, and any
changes will have to be made across all address book templates - even
though I may *want* the same template across address book entries (with
only ReplyTo changes).

Any way around this behavior? I'm concerned more about the maintenance
issues than the extra typing involved. I'd like to keep things like
signatures in one place to be included when needed. Is there a way to
include the account default template specifically?

Very well, these members should start complaining at their ISP
for providing open relays. This lists host server uses strict means of
spam filtering RBLs, including filtering out connections from IPs in
most of China and Brazil[1]. Did you know that we did not loose any
legitimate mail yet, even though the rejection log is filling up very
fast?

Which still leads us to the countries that need to fix their open
relays (and while they're at it, their open proxys as well).

Don't even let these messages enter your network. Legitimate mail? Let
the customer *complain* at their foolish ISPs. Really :)

That's because addressbook templates are used instead of account or
folder templates when they're there. And they do not add to account
templates, they replace them.

kg> This only happens with new messages. Replies do not seem to be

Have you only set up templates for new messages and not for replies on
address book / folder level? Because that would explain it. If you don't
have an address book reply template the account template will be used.

Use Quicktemplates (Options->Quick Tempaltes). you can include them in
templates via the %Qinclude macro. You could for example copy the
account templates into quick templates and the include them in both
account and address book templates. This way when you change anything in
the quick template, it's also changed in all the other templates.

Maggie, we are on the same wave length. The more I watch and observe what
has been happening with Ritlabs over the past 1-2 years - or, as my boss
rightly would say in such situations "what has NOT been happening" - the
more I think the real issue here is HOW THEY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS.

A friend of mine who has been to their country and knows the cost of life
there, is of the opinion that even after the sometimes substantial cuts
taken by the "intermediaries" that process online software orders, and even
if it they had only 10,000 customers, the Ritlabs folks would have by now
made what amounts to a small fortune that would let them live the high life
at home for quite some time (I would think they actually have far more
customers than that.) Is he right? It's possible but I don't really care.
What they do with their money is after all none of my business BUT this
seems to affect the products and I do care about the way TB has been
evolving lately. Email is WAY too important nowadays for me not to take the
way my email software works VERY seriously.

So what do I see here?

1 - A company that, last I checked, does not even list or acknowledge on
their web site the fantastic TB support offered that has been offered by the
leaders of this message board for years AT NO COST TO RITLABS.

2 - A company which in spite of my and one of my colleagues signing up for
their customer email list several times has NEVER emailed us announcements
about updates, new products, bug fixes, etc. Oh and by the way, what kind of
software do they sell? EMAIL software...

3 - TB is the ONLY software I have ever owned for which I have paid for an
upgrade but not installed it just because I'm way too scared to have it mess
up things as simple as the way my files are recognized, the way my folders
are organized, etc. (I'm totally with those of you who think that
rearranging "manually" the way my hundreds of folders have been changed is
NOT "fun", NOR SHOULD IT EVER BE AN OPTION FOR A SOFTWARE COMPANY THAT
RESPECTS ITS LONG-TIME CUSTOMERS.)

4 - IMAP implementation which has been promised for at least a year and
works fine in quite a few other products, appears to be at best a crap shoot
in the latest TB version. I'm still logging in and checking my IMAP accounts
online "by hand" months after upgrading in hope this would finally work
properly. Thank goodness we have these wonderful boards to give warnings or
I could be up sh*ts creek with no paddle...

5 - Still no real product history that I could find on their web site. Here
is an example of the way it can - and IMHO should - be done:
http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/news.htm. Now THAT's a way of inspiring
confidence, getting tons of new customers and more importantly, keeping
them!

6 - Yes, it's no for the few dollars difference but as a matter of principle
I agree that this 60% discount feels like nothing short of a stab in the
back of loyal customers. At best it's just a thoughtless business move that
shows immaturity and/or just plain greed.

I'll stop here, but you get the idea. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE TB, I
use it every day and I certainly hope to be able to use it for years to come
but frankly, I'm starting to wonder. Is that realistic with a company that
is so uncaring and so unprofessional?

%ISSIGNATURE - how to use it?

2003-12-14 Thread Vishal Nakra
Hi,

I've been having problems trying to get this macro to work in my

I've tried the following variations so far with no luck:

%ISSIGNATUREsig
%ISSIGNATURE sig
%ISSIGNATURE="sig"
%ISSIGNATURE = "sig"
%ISSIGNATURE = sig
%ISSIGNATURE=sig
%ISSIGNATURE(sig)

Can anyone help me out here?

%QINCLUDE(sig)

.. or ..

sig (in real time).

Meanwhile, somewhere in 'sig', the macro %ISSIGNATURE appears.

Using the %ISSIGNATURE macro in a signature QT allows you to change
signatures on-the-fly from anywhere in the message body. Type the
sig QT's handle and and the current signature of the
message is replaced without moving the cursor. Neat trick!

use %ISSIGNATURE only in your Quick template, this is only parameter,
which tells TB to not insert it to the message, but rewrite text in
message after signature delimiter. When You insert QT with this macro
to message, text in message after signature delimiter will be
rewritten by QT.

Hello TBUDL,

Using the Christmas Edition

I've subscribe to Techbargains HTML-formatted newsletter

time now. It has always displayed correctly in the manner of The
 Bat! until recently.

Now TB! indicates a new message received from TechBargains, but
displays nothing! HTML newsletter messages from other sources still
 display correctly in The Bat!.

Any thoughts about what might be wrong? I've just written
TechBargains about it but, since I've changed TB! versions recently,
 I suspect The Bat!.

Does anyone confirm or has has anyone seen something similar?
