Template thing

2004-09-11 Thread Lynn
Hi all -

Did I say everything was working now?

I was wrong.

I have 3 accounts, each with numerous folders. I have half
a dozen sig files, and some of the folders have tailored
sigs - as this one does.

On one of the folders in one of the accounts, I can't make
the reply filter work. The sig file itself must be OK, as
it works fine on a new message, but it will *not* work on
the reply, however I select the reply.

I have made a new folder *twice*,(with different folder
names) and wiped the old one(s), but I still get the same
error message:

< The system cannot find the file specified (d:\TheBat\Lynn.txt) >

< The system cannot find the file specified (D:\TheBat\PPen.txt) >

Interestingly, I haven't used the file in the first line
for v 2.x or for v 3 - I got rid of this problem once
before by de-installing and reinstalling, but I've now
done that several times with v3. I am selecting the text
file directly from the macro; I'm not doing hotdog stuff
like typing the line manually. The file is actually in a
folder called TheBat! - there has been no folder called
'The Bat' for the last 2 versions.

I have searched all the config files I can find, and done
the registry line by line, but I can't find the reference
anywhere.

I really don't want to reinstall again, particularly since
the problem wasn't fixed the last time. Anybody got any
idea what's going on here?

tia ... again ...

Lost message from this list

2004-09-11 Thread Maksym Kozub
I just noticed that I received the "Re: Moving off" message by Dierk on
Septwember 4, but _never_ received the original "Moving off" message by Jan
Rifkinson. I received it on TBUDL though. For the record, I seem to have
received just fine all the other messages from TBTECH immediately before
and after that one. Jan seems to have sent the message in question to TBUDL
and CCed it to TBBETA, and probably sent a separate copy to TBTECH (which I
have never got as I have already said, but I see it in the list archive at
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg04338.html ).

I suspect it might have something to do with my ISP's excessive "spam
blocking". (RANT MODE ON. Sigh... They kept blocking all SMTP servers of
the _whole_ comcast.net domain for two months _silently_. Not just
rejecting mail sessions, but simply blocked them by a firewall. "We were
getting tons of spam from there", etc. I found it just by chance, when it
turned out that I could not receive a (quite important) message from my
colleague who is @comcast.net... Sent a message to ukr.nodes, where most
Ukrainian ISPs' admins did not see that as a problem. I almost start crying
from time to time: "Let me read my 'spam', please!" RANT MODE OFF)

However, before I start checking with them, somebody may give another idea
of what happened. Any advice appreciated.

Regards,
Maksym

As far as I understand, you use The Bat! for your Internet mail, but _not_
as your Exchange client. In that sort of setup, you don't have your
MAPI32.DLL replaced by TB!, so your Outlook works fine.

What other people often do, however, is having The Bat! as their MAPI
application, which connects to their Exchange server using MAPI protocol,
etc. In that situation, TB! will replace MAPI32.DLL, and Outlook will not
work, precisely because the latter will be lacking the "proper" MAPI32.DLL.

Also see
http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg06465.html .

(Does Outlook also need the library in the Internet Mail Only
configuration? I think it may work in that configuration, - but then of
course you wouldn't be happy with that anyway, if you have TB! for all your
mail, and Outlook for the calendar, contacts, etc :).)

I know that, thank you. I am actually taking a client's web contact
form in which the user ticks YES to receiving a newsletter. This email
is filtered if 'eNews = YES' and the email is turned round by The Bat
to a different email account which feeds to the MailList Control
application on a different machine.

So the use of this, I believe is entirely legitimate and my ISP knows
exactly what I am doing because I cleared it with them beforehand and
all the accounts involved are on the same server.

Filter or / and

2004-09-11 Thread Dean

Hello,

What has replaced Kludges in the NSF?

I had a way of looking for a specific address and for instance a
subject such as [SFT-L]. Some of the lists I'm on send messages
differently where the sender or recipient is not always in the same
place, weird I know but it happens. The OSF handled using the kludges
and Subject [SFT-L] and would catch either allowing for the message to
get to the proper folder. I'm having difficulty with NSF doing the
same.

Thanks for any help

Hmm... I meant that I wanted the original sender's address ( as in the
ROM field of the original message's header) to be the
new 'sender's address' and, yes, it is a template.

I.e: it's a different from for each createed messages.

Marten, you don't say if you're using a template or not, but the
way I do this is to have this macro in my template for messages
where I want to override the default From address:

%FROM="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"%-

changing the address to the one I want the message to show. This
works for all templates in folders or address book. Will this do

In the properties for the reply use these macros from

The secret is to put the address you want to use within

Oh yes ! TB! is the only product so far that I have seen sold
without any manual or help file. Yes, just check, help file for 3.0
is still the (should I say almost useless?) one from 2.0.

Although this can be expected for beta sw, this shouldn't be true of

I'm not sure what you mean with creating a new account, was that in
Dovecot or in TB? I would've advised on both.

This is why I think you didn't create a new account in TB. Anew
account in TB doesn't have a account.cfg anymore. On creating a new
account TB only creates you account.cfn (account info and templates)
and account.flb (folder info). On opening the sorting office for the
first time, you'll get an account.srb

That's because of the .msi, you go and config screen - software and
choose to modify TB, that'll give you the installer with an option to
repair, modify or remove TB.

L> So now what? Do I just delete it and manually strip the
L> reg file?

No, I wouldn't go for that.

I'd create a new pop3 account, copy whatever messages, templates, etc
to the new account and afterwards delete the old account.

BTW Fix them soon or get trouted for lack of a signature delimiter.

You went through quite something. I just parked the message in the
Outbox, and then the others got sent without a problem.

PC> Sometimes horse manure happens, and you can't blame it on TB,

The reason why the message was not sent is mysterious, but as you know,
I use a mysterious OS...

What I do think is that when a message doesn't get sent, TB should
continue with the other messages in the Outbox. However, I don't know
whether the connection will be closed automatically in such a case,
which means that it is again not TB's fault. I don't know enough about
server to decide whether the non-sending of subsequent messages is a
TB bug (*if* anybody can confirm it) or not.

I can't confirm that. I have TB running as my main mail app, and when I click on a

One of TB!'s main selling points for me was the ability to (re)bind keys
for all actions, and I'm not too happy with the way the 'quote
selected text' options have been bolted on. I can live with just
using f4 to reply, but the inability to bind a key to 'reply all
quoting selected text' is likely to send me looking for another client
rather than moving to version 3. I'm trying v3 at work (where I need
MS Exchange :-/ support), and it seems that as with 2.12 the only way
to do it is with mouse-clicking.

Sorry for whining a bit. I try not to do it very much here, but the
reply options IMO are core functionality for an e-mail client, and I
really wish they were better implemented in TB!

Oh no, filtering the Thai mails into seperate folders is not possible
(if it is, it is not desirable). Even the same people who usually
right in English will sometimes right in Thai. This is true for
example for the folders which group customers. Or those for local
organisations in which we are members. Thanks for your idea, but my
setup requires that messages with different charsets are "mixed" in
the same folder.

Funny thing is that Cyrillic characters and high-ASCII European
characters (of different encodings) are displayed correctly right
away, only with Thai I have to right-click. Wonder why.

It means that your POP3 server only supports an unsecure version of
the SSL protocol. Unfortunately, TheBat does not allow one to overcome
this, in fact you need to use a plain unsecured connection instead or
have the server administrator update the SSL protocol on the server.

No, I think this must be done only once, to give the choosen folder the
information of its default charset. But, if you mix your Thai-Mails
with other encoded mails into one folder, as you pointed out earlier,
may be it will not work.

Actually, this I experience only with virtual folders. Common folders
should keep the default charset choosen for them and decode the
incoming mails to your wishes.

It works fine and is one of the reasons I came to use TB.

Re: A new one

2004-09-11 Thread Thomas Fernandez
Hello List,

obviously, the message got through. This is what I did:

1.) I parked the first message in the Outbox. Now the other messages
got sent.

Question: If one message creates a problem, shouldn't TB skip and
continue with the next?

2.) I reopened the culprit in the Inbox, changed the recipient to a
fake address and tried to send it (purpose was that I wanted to
MIME-attached the message here) but of course that didn't work (Server
reports error: Cannot resolve domain). So it would have been useless
for those you wanted to replicate the error.

So I thought, what the heck, and changed the message back to the
original TO recipient. Now it got sent without a problem!

My theory is therefore that the TO recipient contained an unprintable
character or something which prevented it from being sent. the
question above remains, why did TB not send the subsequent messages.

My curious question remains: What does the eorror "Go ahead" mean?

Thanks,

Thomas.

I have gone into the colour groups dialog and seen that I can set the
font script to Thai. I will create such a "colour" group at the
office, create a manual filter (Hotkey only) to assign this "colour"
group, and should achieve what I was looking for.

AM> May be you must adjust the CharSet inside this folder

No, you mean I *still* have to right-click? Then I nothing would be
gained by creating that colour group.

I can see the message in Thai upon right-click now already. Next time
I open it, it will already display correctly. Only new messages are
decoded incorrectly. Is this what you mean?

AM> I'm doing this with Greek Mail and it works fine for me.

Greek should be the exact same situation (left-to-right single-byte
character set), thanks for your input.

I am having Outlook and TB! v2 (v2 because I was blöd enough to buy the business
license a few weeks before v3 came out) at work, and they run alongside. When I set
TB! to leave the messages on the server, then I can have them in Outlook, too, if need
be.
