Ok, that's simpler !

And my remaining questions for today if someone can answer them ...

2. About plugins.

On Ritlabs website I found some of the previous one is used before but
other seem no to be referenced as the one (an antispam plugin I don't
have the time at writting), a plugin which was previously packaged
with TB but seems to have disappeared from the latest versions, as the
4th milestone I'm just reusing since few weeks now ...
IS there a complete plugin repository somewhere ?

Is there a Trend Micro antivirus plugins available ?

4.
And at last, about Ritlabs forums ...

I was a registered forum member.
I found out my account used to login but I don't understand why I can
not post to forums as I can not see a "New topic" button
or link...
What could be the problem here ?

2006-10-28 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi all,

I'm very sorry for the cross post but it is very very very
important for me ...

I'm about to switch of screen reader.
I will let Jaws for Window-Eyes.
And as I plan, of course, to keep on using The Bat! I would like to
know if there were on one of the TB lists, a or several users of this
screen reader and how they did to customize tb with it ... are there any set
files (the equivalent of Jaws scripts) to use tb more efficiantly ?

Big thanks in advance !

Preferences problem in TB Voyager 3.86.03

2006-10-24 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi Tbudler,

In the preferences/other options dialog box, all subtree options seems
to be shifted with their contents.
For example :
- on the "Character Sets (XLAT)" tab, we can read,
"This subtree contains a lot of rarely changed options like confirmation
customisation, Messages submission forms, smartpad preferences and
so on".
on the confirmations tab we find the character set list relative to
above tab.
- on the submission forms we find the list of elements pertaining to
the confirmations tab...
- and the smarttab contains the system-wide hotkey list, so its
options are missing...

Can someone confirm this ?

Yes but it is not very easy to use ...
It would be interesting if we could use the principle of view modes in
the dispatcher because there we can give the width in pixels of each
column and so see if the width suffice or no and adjust it
accordingly...

The problem is that msaa implementation apparently does not suffice
because reclassifying some windows to make them easily readable by
screen readers we loose the benefice of msaa .. .

Implementing view mode in dispatcher again, would be the trick ...

Question about the Mail Dispatcher

2006-10-14 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi tbudler,

I'm curently using a popmail e-mail checker, PopTray, to take a
look to my e-mail before retrieving them.
The advantage of this solutions is that it is relatively accessible
with my screen reader, yes I'm blind...
But the problem is that I'm obliged to use this program in conjunction
with TB which is according to me not really necessary as TB has its
own e-mail checker : the E-mail dispatcher.
The problem with the e-mail dispatcher is that it is based on
a gridview which does not seem to be customizable.
In Poptray for example I can check or unchec kcolumns I don't want to
see.
I don't think it can be done on the e-mail dispatcher.
And the problem is that in poptray I can read columns completely
whereas in the e-mail dispatcher for exampleI only see few words of
e-mail subjects...
So in few words, I would like to be able to use the e-mail dispatcher
but could it be possible to customize it according to my needs : adding
or removing columns I don't want to see, increasing/decreasing columns
width ...
Or is it in the todo list for an upcoming version ?

Associating shortcuts to view modes

2006-10-11 Thread Claude Renaud
  Hi all,

Few TB versions ago it was possible as far as I remember to associate
shortcuts to view modes, and if my memory serves me well, there were
associated with shortcuts such as alt+shift+1, alt+shift+2 etc.
Currently it is not possible to quickly switch from view mode to view
mode with a single keystroke.
Is it possible to regain this function or should it be added as a future
   feature for
TB ?

Scheduling mail check

2005-06-16 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi all,

As you know it is currently no possible to check mail or schedule
such a task on a per account basis and suspend it has needed ...

So I imagined a scenario ... in order to create such a function ...

I created a batch which launches the bat checks a specified account and
exit.

And then I created a task to run this batch according to a
schedule I defined.

But I have a little problem.

As I use On-The-Fly Encryption each time TB is launched it asked me
for the password.

So I would like to know if it exists a command-line switch (or any other
way) to enter the password on the command-line (there is no security
problem because my batch is encrypted ...).

Or, best of all, could it be implemented
for advanced users/administrators ... if it does not exist yet ...

A SSL question

2005-05-26 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi,

My Imap provider gives my some information in order to secure my e-mail
communications.
He gave me for example the information to secure communication during

So I replace the usual 389 port of my ldap address book with the 636
but the communication apparently does not work.
Should I need to set up something else and could ssl be used for
Imap/Pop/Smtp too ?

IF it is not implemented yet, is it planned in the
future ?
Do I need to add it in the wish list on the ritlabs bt ?

No, my isp is Imap4all ande everything goes well with it.
The only problem I have is when I try to send a message, to my
address, to tbudl or an other address but using the EToken smtp
authentication, thus storing the password of my account on the token :
when I use the traditional smtp method all ends ell... so the problem
occurs only with the etoken usage ...

So I need help from a etoken user if possible ...

I could not use Thunderbird because I'm blind and it is not accessible.
When I send a message with the usual method, without using the token
all ends well, the problem occur only when I try to store the password
on the token...

The same problem occur whatever e-mail address I try to send a message
to : even when I send to tbudl or anything else, the same message
appears, when I use the "traditional" smtp settings everything works
well ...

So, what the problem with the EToken usage is ?

Using advanced secure methods of sending/receiving email

2005-05-18 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi,

Perhaps silly questions, sorry for asking them ...

I recently acquired a Aladdin EToken.
Before with my Ikey, in the sending authentication and receiving
authentication part of the transport section of a mail account I could
find options such as :
- Store password on the token,
Token MD-5 CRAM-HMAC Challenge/Response,
- and biometric options...
They are no longer visible since I installed my EToken is it normal ?

With Etoken, how e-mail communication is secured ?

be developped concurrently ?

And just a little question for the Secure Bat! experts : hat
is(are) the difference(s) between the ikey and the e-token version of

differences other than strength of encryption ?

Do you think a import facility from the bat! of Time and Chaos address book

For me, yes, I use this program each day !!! and it would be very
practical to have only one address book, so importing the t&c one in

My Main computer is connected via a lan to my Linksys modem router WAG54G. I
have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed so I have both a firewall and
in/out virus scanner. The modem router acts as DHCP server so my computer
has a 192.168.1.xx address. I don't have a fixed IP address from my ISP.

I tried to send Email with Norton firewall and Outgoing Anti virus off but I
receive the same message.
How can I know what is sent via the helo command ?

I really appreciate your help

Re: cannot send Email via smtp with Cegetel.net

2004-11-10 Thread Jean Claude Gaertner

What has happend is that your email setting are based on sending email
using the
Wanadoserver. This works fine if you are on the Wanado network.
Hello Gérard,
Thanks for the answer but maybe I was not so clear, when I use CEGETEL ADSL
I have, of course, selected smtp.cegetel.net in account properties to send
Emails and cegetel Email address was in use too.
In case you use improper smtp server, the message you receive is something
like "relaying denied or not authorized"

To prevent all this hassle, you can use your own SMTP server and you will
never
have to worry about what settings are used by any ISP ever again :-)

cannot send Email via smtp with Cegetel.net

2004-11-10 Thread Jean Claude Gaertner
Hello,
I'm currently evaluating The Bat and in the meantime I'm also evaluating a
new ADSL provider (Cegetel).
Let me explain :
I have Wanadoo ADSL provider on phone line 1 and Cegetel on phone line 2
On phone line 1 via smtp.wanadoo.fr, I can send Email via smtp protocol with
no problem
On phone line 2 via smtp.cegetel.net, I am not able to send any message at
all. The log report the following :
!10/11/2004, 08:38:24: SEND - Message has not been sent. Server reply -
: Helo command rejected: Invalid name
10/11/2004, 08:38:24: SEND - connection finished - 0 messages sent
10/11/2004, 08:38:24: SEND - Some messages were not sent - check the log
for details
If I switch to Outlook Express, with the same parameters I can send Email
via smtp.cegetel.net. In fact I'm sending this message via Outlook Express
and Cegetel.
Is this a bug in the current Bat version ?
I have tried the current release version and the latest beta 3.02 beta 6
I would appreciate any pointer
Best regards from France
Jean Claude

Does someone know where I can download this plug-in ? IS it

Fwd: the Bat! future evolution

2004-07-19 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi all,

I love computers.
I spend hours and hours on my laptop every day.
Most of my time is dedicated to e-mail.
I've been using The bat! since the 1.62 version.
I always found this program very great.
But it did not prevent me from seeing the other mailers and try some of
them.
So, even if I have been using the bat! since months, a program I
purchased from a french dealer, I decided to try another mailer they
decided to promote after they gave up
the bat! : its name, Pocomail.
Even if they said that it was very powerful I did not consider it as powerful as
the bat! was (notably from my personal point of view, in fact
PocoMail does not
seem to be very accessible for the blind man I am).
I have been subscribed to PocoSystems' newsletter (the maker of
pocomail) since the time I decided to test it.
Recently, I received an announcement from PocoSystems, telling that
they just launched a new product (Barca) which is a mixture of their
mail client PocoMail and a Personal Information Manager.
If I told you that, it is to know if you would like to see The Bat
turns into a kind of PIM or not and if Ritlabs have such plans in their
projects for the 3.0 or 4.0 version of the software ?

How to set up batpost properly ?

2004-06-07 Thread Claude Renaud
Hi all,

I'm currently evaluating Batpost.
I ask the question on this list because apparently there is not one
dedicated to BatPost.
I read the two pdfs provided with the program (the quickstart guide

and especially what dns domain address to indicate in order to do it
works properly.
Does someone use this program and can help me to set it up ?
Is there any detailed document in which we can learn how to manage
this server and set it up properly ?
Could you give me some advice ?

Re: Screen readers and TheBat

PL> Hi all,

PL> Is any one using Screen readers such as Jaws For Windows
PL> (http://www.freedomscientific.com) or Window Eyes (http://www.gwmicro.com)
PL> with TheBat?

Personally I used to work with Jaws and nextly I will work with Window-Eyes.
It's true than we can use the bat! with jaws or any screen readers if we create custom
settings a bit.
But I'm not totally aggree with Thomas Fernandez when he said that jaws works
perfectly with the bat!.
In fact we can use it but I think we could greatly improve the accessibility of the
bat! by making it Ms accessibility compliant in order to use the Ritlabs Html engine
or if we can identify with tooltips all icons in the program.
Few days ago I wrote to Maxim Masiutin and suggest him several things. here is a part
of our discussion :

Hi Max,

Le lundi 22 septembre 2003 à 16:22:35, vous écriviez :

MM> Could you please send us your screen reader software, to make
MM> us able to try?

You can download a demo copy of Jaws at http://www.hj.com and/or Window-eyes at
http://www.gwmicro.com.

MM> How do you read text in Microsoft Internet
MM> Explorer, there is also no cursor there.

Yes, but in this case screen readers rely on Microsoft Active accessibility (you can
obtain information at
http://www.microsoft.com/enable or msdn).
Or you could either :
- customize the html component used in the bat! enabling the cursor caret. Then we
could be able to read html message and
scroll them because screen readers could then track the cursor properly,
- or letting optionnally the ability to activate the Microsoft Html renderer engine.

Could you please take me aware of your investigation concerning this part of the
development please ?

And it would also be very interesting if we could access to the toolbars, the
mailticker and so on...

I truely hope that Ritlabs will make an effort in this direction.

Hi Marc,

I viewed the source of his message but I was not able to see any information
concerning the mail client he used to be writing with.
The only thing I know, is that he wrote me from a compuserve address probably with the
compuserve
software, do you think it could be the reason whyhe was not able to read my
message ?

When you say "Other than that, I suggest you try writing again
> without signing or MIME forward the original message", how can I do this
> ?

Could you help me to understand !

2002-06-21 Thread Claude Renaud

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi everybody,

Recently I sent a request to a technical support writing a message
with the bat as usual.
But, the technician answer surprize me. He wrote back to me the following :
"Your message with the above ID contained no recognizable text in its body
which was effectively "empty". Please try again, making sure you are
sending plain text, preferably us-ascii."

I do not understand because I can read my message (I can't see any
unrecognizable text) , my message is not empty and I use pain text. I even
read my message and his answer with the "view source" function and I do not
see anything wrong.

I send you back two messages as attachments which are my message and the
technician's answer, could you
scan them and tell me what is wrong and what I have to do to solve this
problem please ?

Hi,

I would like to ask you few questions about 4NT 4.01A build 54 and Take command
32 3.01A build 54.
I'm working with windows xp french version with all patches currently available.

I noticed two stranges behaviours with 4NT that do not occur with
take command 32.

First, I noticed that with 4NT it is not possible to delete files
that contain double extensions such as filename.exe.log for example whereas
it is possible with take command.
When I try to delete such a file, I have the error message "0 file deleted"
whereas the file exists.
Have you already noticed that and do you know a workaround ?
It is strange because others manipulation such as renaming that kind of
files work correctly.

Secondly, I noticed that with 4nt, it is not possible to delete
files contained in directory whose names contain accented characters.

Below is a sample batch file witch works under take command (delete
requested files) but fails under 4nt (saying that the specified path is not
found and so 0 file is deleted).

Here is my batch file :

DeleteMessages :

@echo off
set tb=D:\Mes Documents\internet\Courrier électronique\Messagerie\Archives\The Bat!\
del /s "%tb%mon compte\inbox\*.tbb;*.tbi"
del /s "%tb%msn hotmail\inbox\*.tbb;*.tbi"
unset tb

With take command all the .TBB and .TBI files are deleted hereas they are
not when I run this batch file after having opened a console session with
4NT.

Deleting all messages in all folders

Hi,

I have an account with several sub folders in my inbox.
Every day I back up my messages from my computer and I import them at work
to read them there.
When I come back home al my messages are still there.
I would like to know if I could suppress all of them in a one easy step
rather than highlighting each folder and press ctrl-del and answer ok to
the question : "do you want to ...".

Hi Nick

It's very simple. You have to create an address book, edit its
properties, choose the ldap tab and checke the "this address book
is associated with a ldap server" and then in the address field
enter the name of your exchange server. that's all. I send you my
address book configuration as an example and if you need more
   information write me back.

A tb wish

2002-04-10 Thread Claude Renaud

Bonjour The Bat! User's Discussion List

At work I use the bat! to send/receive e-mail through a
exchange server, so I had to setup up a ldap exchange address
book to access the exchange ab . When I send e-mails the
autocompletionfeature does not work with that kind of address
book. I wonder if it would not be possible to include that
kind of address book when we choose
options/preferences/system/complete addresses from/all address
books so that the autocompletion feature will work (as outlook
express do for exemple) and we do not need to recreate a
personal address book containing all the addresses we can use.

What do you think of ?

Checking for mail automatically

2002-03-03 Thread Claude Renaud

Hi,

I connect to the internet through dial-up networking connections.
When the bat! checks for mail every x minute it autoconnects to the
internet if a connection is not already running but it does not shut
down the connection automatically. What option I have to activate to
solve this ?

If I connect to the internet before launching the bat!, while I'm
surfing, is it possible to tell the bat! not to disconnect
automatically ?

In other words, I would like the bat to autodisconnect when it
connects itself to the internet whereas no connection is not already
active and I would like it to stay connected when a connection has
previously been established before I launch it ?

Is it possible ?

Sorting messages

2002-02-08 Thread Claude Renaud

Hi everybody,

I would like to ask you a question from which I have not find an
   answer yet.

I know how to sort (or view threads by) sender and I also
know how to sort messages by received or creation time but
the thing I would like to do is the following : arrange
messages alphabetically andsort this result chronogically as
we can do with ms outlook express or outlook 2000/2002.

And I would like to tell you about a strange thing about time sorting
: I don't understand why when we sort messages by received time or
creation time, messages are sorted descending by default whereas the
descending order option is not checked; and so we have to peculiarly
check this option to have them sorted correctly.
