Thanks to everyone who has responded. I'll check my settings and try
the approach Paul suggested..

However, archiving the 100+ messages clogging up my Inbox didn't do
the trick. It still took five downloads to get all of the new mail
this evening.

I'll take a look at my Gmail settings to see if I can find something
there.

Following your suggestion, I visited the webmail page and found 117
unarchived messages in my Inbox. (Most had large attachments and were
not downloaded because that's what I set The Bat to do. Perhaps I'll
have to rethink that.) I archived them all. I won't be able to tell if
this fixed anything until tomorrow, when there should be another goodly
store of messages to download.

Thanks for your help.

G-Mail Odd Download Behavior

2011-03-08 Thread Munango-Keewati
My Gmail account is used to subscribe to multiple mailing lists, such
as this one. I've recently started noticing that downloads are
incomplete. This evening I downloaded five or six times, one after
the other, with each download ranging from approximately 13 to 38
messages. Perhaps it's functioned this way all along and I just
didn't notice (though I doubt that).

Has anyone else noticed this behavior? Anyone have any suggestions
for a way to fix it?

I hope this won't be considered off-topic; I'm sure many TB users are
also using Gmail.

Thanks in advance.

But then (as far as I can see) the settings would become the default
for all your folders--wouldn't they? So I'd have to go into every
other folder, turn off the default, and remember to do the same
whenever I created a new folder.

Bayes Problem

2008-02-29 Thread Munango-Keewati
Suddenly the Bayes spam filter that's been working almost perfectly
for a year or more is dumping virtually all incoming messages into
the Junk folder. This could be because I recently upgraded to
v4.0.14, or because I changed some setting while exploring the new
version.

Anyway, can anyone suggest what might be wrong and how to fix it? I
have two accounts that I check regularly, two Junk folders (I had
tried the common Junk folder setting, but now have that turned off). A
dozen or more filters running on each account. Current behavior seems
to ignore the filters, or cut in before they can work. However, if I
refilter the Junk folders, the filters run properly and everything
goes where it belongs.

Thanks in advance.

Last Fetch variable?

2006-06-11 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello TBUDL,

One improvement I'd like to institute on my machine would be a virtual
folder containing only the most recently received messages--messages
from the last fetch. I don't think this is currently possible, but
could be wrong.

Since TB! displays date and time of the last fetch, it might be
possible to capture and store that information before making the
current fetch, then use it to create a time range for items to include
in the virtual folder. But it sounds like a job for the TB! coding
team.

Any thoughts or suggestions? I'd love to see this built into
the virtual folder options.

Disappering Header info

2005-10-27 Thread Munango-Keewati
I just upgraded to 3.60.07 and find that the Header information (From,
Subject, Date, etc.) that normally appears above the preview window
and at the top of the full-page message reader window is no longer
visible. The field areas are still there, but blank (unless I try to
select the information, in which case it becomes visible). I've tried
fiddling with the colors in Header Layout, but this does no good. Is
this a feature of the new version, or have I messed up something in my
playing with the program?

I decided to save myself some trouble in setting up another account
with much of the same folder structure and many of the same filters,
by going into my file manager (Total Commander, of course) and copying
my main account to a new name. After selecting it in Add Account (or
something like that--don't remember the details), all seemed to work
fine. However, I eventually noticed that some messages were being
filtered to the wrong account folders. Checking into it, I discovered
that most of the folder addresses in the filters for my original
account had been changed to the comparable addresses in the added
account. Why would that happen?

Anyway, perhaps some of this somehow messed up the header display as
well, though I can see why it would.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Trash handling

2005-07-11 Thread Munango-Keewati
Could someone please tell my how to get message deletion to work the
way I want it to?

When I delete a message from a folder, I want it to go to the Trash
folder and sit there for several weeks in case I need to retrieve it.

I've tried setting the various options in Account Properties, folder
properties, and Trash folder properties, so that it looks as though it
should work, but it doesn't. Messages deleted from a folder two or
three days ago are not findable in the Trash folder.

I get at least 100 messages per day, generally twice that; most are
deleted. Several weeks ago I unchecked all my Trash folder properties
options, which logically should make every deleted message stay there
until I delete them by hand. This evening I have 122 deleted messages
there, none older than July 9. There should be a few thousand.

Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks in advance.

Quick experiment shows that that's been my problem: you need to start
out with an unread message (I had previously marked most of them as
read), then either open and close the message or use the new spacebar
feature. Marking them as read doesn't trigger the filter.

OTR Afterthoughts

2004-12-16 Thread Munango-Keewati
I just remembered something I half-way considered, but decided I was
already so far along that it wouldn't make much sense: There's a
dealer offering 30,000 OTR shows on 35 DVDs for 89.95 (I think he
raised his price $10 for Christmas):

http://www.bookzap.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=YPC-6XCE

Same dealer has what he claims is a complete set of CBS Radio Mystery
Theater on 4 DVDs.

These dealers all snatch things up from the USENET groups mentioned
before, and the quality varies from great to miserable (just like it
did with tapes). I find the quality to be at least 90%-95% acceptable.

Are you up to date on MP3 format? You don't have to play these things
on the computer--there are a lot of CD and DVD players that are MP3
compatible, but they don't all have the needed features. Some won't
play low bitrate files, such as most OTR recordings. The only way to
be sure is to bring a disk to the store and try it out. Also, the Rio
Volt offers a true pause/resume feature, so that you can stop and
power off the player in the middle of an episode, then pick back up at
exactly that point. There's an art to getting the right player.

Bingo! (I've got so many incoming filters, I couldn't see the other
varieties.)

Filter help needed -- incoming/outgoing

2004-12-14 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello tbudl,

I'm trying to create a filter that will move both incoming and
outgoing messages to a single folder, based on the name of the sender
or recipient. That is, I'm trying to collect both messages to and from
one individual in the same folder for future reference. Incoming
messages work fine, but outgoing still go to the Sent Mail folder.
Here's the filter (edited to conceal real names and email addresses):

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [FE986F40.01C4D743.2399DB9B.441DBA0B]
Name: First\20Lastnameon
Filter: [EMAIL PROTECTED]@domain.com\0D\0A}
MoveMessage folder \5C\5CTreasure\20Mountain\5CSave\5CLast\20Firstname
IsActive
Ignore
endFilter

Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Thanks in advance.

I'm having a similar problem. I think it's a bug in 2.12. Try making
sure that the Connection Center does not have focus when downloading
stops (bring TB's main window to the front). This is working for me,
at least for the last couple of days.

Selection in Folder?

2004-06-05 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello tbudl,

As I go through my messages, I click on each folder (All or Unread,
show unread only clicked if I remember), scan down the message list
from top to bottom, clicking on those I want to preview or open.

How does TB! decide which message will be selected when I click on a
folder? Almost always it's in the middle or bottom of the list,
instead of at the top, where I want it. Can anyone explain this
behavior or suggest how I can get TB! to do what I want it to do?

Thanks!

Eventually I discovered that there was a problem with my print driver
(anyone ever seen one labeled "Totally bogus print driver"?--that's
what it said on the properties page!).

Haven't fully tested, but it's looking promising now. Now all I have
to do is determine how the print driver got messed up to begin with.

Printer problem

2004-04-23 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello tbudl,

My printer has been acting up since I upgraded to the newest
version(s) of The Bat. With TB open in the background, Word files
print out as completely blank pages.

Close The Bat and Word, reopen Word file, and it prints fine.

I went poking around in TB to see if perhaps there was a printer setup
I needed to take care of. The Help file describes it, but doesn't
tell you where it is. Found it under Message > Print Setup > Setup
printer. Clicking on this, however, does nothing.

Tried printing from TB, correct printer selected, "Operation not
supported by printer."

Can anyone confirm or tell me how to fix my installation?

Nevertheless, this is an option I would like to have--and the way I
have filters and folders set up, I don't think I'd have much trouble.

I don't believe it's possible to assign View Unread only to a
Folder/Virtual Folder. That would be a very nice option.

Thanks for all the responses.

Ver 2.10 Unread Tab

2004-04-16 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello tbudl,

Could someone explain to me the purpose of the Unread tab if all
messages--read, unread, parked, etc--are still displayed in the right
panel when that tab is selected? One would expect to see only unread
messages displayed for each folder in the Unread tab panel.

I must be missing something (actually, quite a lot) here. I've spent
more than an hour looking through the menus and can't find anywhere to
set the properties of the Unread tab or its folders. Nothing in the
Help file. Right clicking doesn't work either.

Help, please?

Thanks in advance.

Template addressing problem

2004-01-08 Thread Munango-Keewati

I've just verified a problem with template addressing. If I start a
new message while in my tbudl folder, the message template contains:

%TO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

as the last line of the template,so the new message is addressed to
this list. Discovering that (once again) I've forgotten to go to the
inbox (and a different template) before beginning a new message, I
then delete the tbudl address from the To: line and enter the correct
address for the message. When I look back later (or mail the message)
I discover that the tbudl address has returned and the message now has
two recipients.

Is this a bug? What's going on here?

Thanks in advance.

CSAPI Spell Checker

2003-11-29 Thread Munango-Keewati
Hello TBUDL,

I'm a new user of THE BAT and subscriber to TBUDL, still trying to get everything
functioning to my taste.

I have the CSAPI spell checker installed on my machine (it came with Word, not
Office), but can't get it to work in The Bat. The Bat recognizes that it's there,
showing that option under Spell Checker > Language, but doesn't underline any of my
typos.

Also, is it possible to both use the check-as-you-write spell checker and the one that
runs automatically when you close a message to send it?
