Version 2
Friday, December 19, 2003 at 8:08 AM (Pacific Time) Hello Bat Users, Well, I held off as long as I could before upgrading to version 2. I used 1.62r a long time with no problems. Then I seen where I could upgrade for only $14.00 until Jan, 10th because of the Christmas specials. I just couldn't pass it up. I am really glad I did! The new folder maintenance centre is very well done. I backed 1.62r up first in case I had problems. Then I just installed 2.02.3 over the top of 1.62r, I wasn't sure you could do that but I had my back up so it didn't mater. To my surprise, everything works fine so far. Even my templates are working, and I thought I read something where they had to be changed for version 2. Anyway, I have always been very conservative when it comes to upgrading software. I don't do it just because but I can tell you that now is the time especially with the Christmas discounts. I am still in the early stages of using version 2 but have not, yet anyway, experienced any of the problems that I have seen others have on the list. I just wanted to say how pleased I am with version 2. NOD32
Saturday, March 15, 2003 at 11:41 AM (Pacific Time) Greetings TheBat! Users, Well, after installing NOD32 and TheBat plug-in, I found a new menu item in TheBat's Folder Menu called check for viruses One of the settings was move the message to the quarantine folder I did not have a quarantine folder but I tried it anyway. I ran it on a folder with about 600 messages and it was s slow. When it was done, it had found 172 infected messages and moved them to the newly created Quarantine folder. There was no way any of these messages had a virus in them. Someone try this and see if you get the same results. I guess it is better not to use the check for viruses option and just let the plug-in do it's job by having NOD check the messages as they come in. Or... Hang on mail check
Saturday, February 01, 2003 at 12:31 PM (Pacific Time) Greetings TheBat! Users, I just wanted to share a problem and a fix that I experienced this morning. I was checking my TBUDL and TBOT mail this morning and there were 96 new messages. I always use the connection center, normally without any problems. But for some reason, it would hang on message #64 while trying to get the headers. There were no attachments or unusually large messages. I tried three times and it still came to a halt at #64. I used Popcorn to get all the email headers for this account (around 560 of them because I have it set to leave mail on server for 3 days) closed Popcorn, opened TheBat and was able to get all 96 headers and download as normal. I don't know if anyone else had this happen or not but this is how I was able to fix it. -- Wayne Black [EMAIL PROTECTED] Using TheBat! 1.61 With Windows 98se 4.10 Current version is 1.62 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Think of it... your email program and all messages in your pocket. Just plug it in at a friends house, at work or at home. Any computer with a USB port which is most of them less than three to five years old. It would be great security too since TheBat would not even reside on your computer. Bug?
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Sunday, October 28, 2001 7:13 AM GMT -0800 Hello Bat Users, I just had TheBat lock up on me for the first time and wondered if anyone else had this happen by doing what I did. I was experimenting with the mass mailing feature and created the template. Next I selected 47 address book entries and hit mass mailing using template and picked my template. Then under action I picked open in editor I guess I should not have done that because it opened all 47 messages in the editor (like it should) I then closed them all by hitting Esc 47 times. All still seemed well until I closed down TheBat. That is when it locked up. Everything was okay when I restarted my computer. The best thing to do is probably choose put in outbox and if necessary, edit them one at a time. Or, could this be a bug? And a question. How can you delete the search history in message finder? Backup
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Saturday, December 30, 2000 Hello Bat Users, Well, Everything worked splendidly for the backup and restore (under Tools) using TB v1.48f. Only one problem... None of my filters/rules are to be found! What is up with that?... Confirmed, tried it a few days ago with 1.48f all filters were lost Just a comment on the above if I may. Kill Dupes
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Tuesday, October 24, 2000 Hello Bat Users, This is kind of a question and a request. There is the option to copy messages from one folder to another. When you choose "Folders, Kill Dupes In all Folders", this would delete any copies of messages you had in other folders wouldn't it? I don't usually copy messages from one folder to another but I am sure that there are those who do. As I said, I don't copy messages to another folder but I run "Kill Dupes In All Folders" about twice a month and it usually finds one or two and deletes them. I don't know where these could be coming from. It would just be nice to see what is being deleted and be given a chance *not* to delete it. Is this a feature worth requesting? Selective Download

This can only be addresses or words in the subject field but not in the message body, is this correct? 3) The signal string section is quite large and it gives you an option to load strings from a file as well. Backup
Friday, September 08, 2000 Hello All, I am a new user of The Bat and love it! I don't think I could ever go back to anything else. Anyway, I wanted to put my two cents in on the subject of backing up The Bat. I use these two simple batch files to backup and restore everything to and from the "D" partition of my hard drive. It works assuming the command line version of the "RAR" archiver program being in the path. I have it in the Windows directory. It would of corse work with Pkzip, ARJ or which ever archiving program you use. I hope they help. I know they sure have come in handy for me. They look like this: This one backs up everything including the registry key. - @echo=off cd\ cls cd thebat echo. echo. echo This batch file will backup the entire Bat email program and all echo messages plus the Bat registry file to D:\BAT for easy restoring. echo. echo Make sure to run this batch file from the "C" drive. echo. pause cls rar a -r d:\bat\allbat.rar regedit /e d:\bat\tbreg.reg hkey_current_user\software\rit cd\ cls And to restore: -- @echo=off cd\ cls echo. echo. echo This will restore the Bat program, all messages and the bat registry. echo. pause rar x d:\bat\allbat.rar c:\thebat cls echo. echo. echo The last step is to restore the Bat's registry file. echo. pause regedit /c d:\bat\tbreg.reg Wayne [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- -- View the TBUDL archive at http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com To send a message to the list moderation team double click here: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe from TBUDL, double click here and send the message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- You are subscribed as : archive@jab.org

I am using The Bat 1.45 with Windows 98. I want to be able to add this registry backup command line to a batch file that copies the whole Bat directory to the "D" partition of my hard drive. This would make everything easy to backup and restore with a desktop icon pointing to this batch file. Pleas let me know if you use a better way of doing this. Thanks to everyone. Limits?
Hello TBUDL, I am new to this list and am getting some getting some very good information from everyone. I just wanted to know if The Bat has been tested with a very large number of messages in it's folders. Does it have a limit to the number of messages in a folder or the number of entries in the address book? I don't really understand the limitations section of the help file. Thanks and have a great day! Wayne mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] The Bat!
