It is free open source code and many people are already using it and have modified in their own way. See http://www.yourequations.com it's powered by CodeCogs as well as others The images are not stored as much as they are generated when you send the code there and are returned as images. To prove it there is nothing to prevent you from generating totally unrealistic equations:-) Of course for life-time archiving you can just download the images to your own files and store them anywhere you wish. By the way I have just generated an empty TiddlyWiki powered by CodeCogs it's got a few enhancements like tabs (TiddlersBarPlugin), QuickeditPlugin my own Search results enhancement, and the ability to publish tiddlers as HTML pages. But it's basically empty and ready to name and use. Go to http://twequation.tiddlyspot.com/ click download in the sidebar and try it. [tw] Re: TagglyTagging - Main purpose and how to begin?
I struggled with understanding what TagglyTagging was all about and bewilidered when I tried to follow the tutorial. After many many months it became clear when Dave Gifford applied it to No-Brainer notes. Once I saw a real application I could understand the fog lifted and I ran with it. I modified No-Brainer notes to suit myself and in doing so got a grasp of it. It is a simple use of TagglyTagging but is used to good effect. Many thanks to Dave for helping me create one of my favourite TW's. It's on the second revision and I've just added math equation generation to it. Explore it and see the fundamentals of TagglyTagging. Trying to create your own master topic and subtopics is a good way to start to grasp the fundamentals it's almost a tutorial. Just click download in the sidebar and play with it a while at least one simple use of TagglyTagging will surely become clear. http://twt-notes.tiddlyspot.com/ Morris http://twmath.tiddlyspot.com/ quick and easy math formulas http://twequation.tiddlyspot.com/ an equation capable personal web notebook On Jan 7, 4:17 am, W_de wrote: > Hi there, > > I still feel very encouraged by this intro text to this group (thanks > for it!): > > >> New Users: Please don't hesitate to post your questions. [tw] Re: Announcing Math Equation upgrade to TWT-Notes
Hi Morris I begun, or I'll do something similar ("plugin" - or actually JsMath extension). Oh no..., looking at my first tiddlers creation date - 19.8.2007, I wanna cry. That is the result of the lack of free time (and still waiting for Eric's developer's guide). I had much more in mind than this. I have enough notes (defined "usecases"), what should it do. Not just copy to document, write/edit LateX in view mode, predefined and user defined menus (switching between them), last n- used, history (showing forward/backward steps)... The primary target was just to avoid edit mode in TW, because it becomes too difficult to add, delete something if you already wrote many lines in LateX. I know, someone like Eric is able to do it in 1h..ok maybe in 1 day or 2, but me :(. The is something about the rhythm of working with tagglyTagging. it seems to go quite naturally with the way you think. it works really well with the new here plugin. Its like being on a roll. anyone else know what i mean??? it is good for thinking up and down levels of abstraction (i think that is what i am on about - tTagging can get a little mindbending on the odd occasion) Alex 2009/1/6 Amzg : > > I use tagglyTagging daily and I find it extremely useful. [tw] Re: TagglyTagging - Main purpose and how to begin?
I use tagglyTagging daily and I find it extremely useful. I can warmly recommend it as its functionality is not included in core TW. Basically, in a tiddler "A", it renders a list of all other tiddlers tagged "A". The list is located at the bottom of each tiddler, and is part of the template (as far as I can tell), i.e if you open a tiddler in view mode (such as when you write something in it) you will not see any taggly-code there. It also allows you various views of this list, such as a tree structure of every other tiddler tagged "A" and *their* sub-tiddlers, or you can have it so that they are grouped into what other tags they might have, etc etc. (Actually, one of the few things that is not fully satisfactory is that there are several different displays but how to choose between them is a bit iffy. Would probaby be better if the alternatives were presented in drop down boxes or such). The explanation on the site is in deed a bit 'meaty'. I would say you can skip it and instead just install the plugin. As many things are more or less automatically tagged when you use TW, you will see the (positive) consequences of it. I find tagglyTagging very, very valuable and can wholeheartedly recommend it. /Mat On Jan 6, 7:48 pm, altiplano wrote: > Hello, > > I'm a new TiddlyWiki user and I ask myself the same questions about > this plugin present usefulness. > > I disabled it to see what would be missing but did not notice any > difference. > I may be short-sighted or simply not gaining the true benefit of it > according to my present TiddlyWiki use, which is rather basic so far. > > Anyway, inputs from advanced/power users would be appreciated. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] Re: I'm new to TiddlyWiki.... and the Plugins are escaping me!
You can either do it via the special import feature; click backstage > import > paste the url and click add (or whatever it say) and then in the list presented (which is a listing of all available tiddlers at the url tiddlywiki) you just check the correct one, scroll down to teh bottom and click Import (or whatever it says). Hopefully after a few moments, the whole "Import feature" lists your imported tiddlers and a button saying "Done", that you click. If you imported plugins (i.e tiddlers containing the systemConfig tag) you must then save and *reload* the tiddlywiki to activate the plugin. Manually, you create a new tiddler in your TW. In the source TW, you click view or edit on the plugin-tiddler you wish, so that you see its code, it's name and its tags. Manually copy-paste into you TW, save and reload. Either of these two options should do the trick. /Mat On Jan 6, 5:51 am, Automated wrote: > I'm new to the whole Plugin thing. > > I've been able to get my head around some tweaks and such, but I'm > trying to import a slider (simple, I know) from TiddlyVault. [tw] Re: Custom title from Formtiddler
My aim is to use a TW for a survey. Iv'e decided to make the Tiddler Titles Q1 , Q2 , Q3 etc and render the question with the custom term in the tiddler. It makes it easier to refer to the questions by the question designers duirng the development process. The difficulty I think is the generation of the question tiddlers from the user entered data: it has to be done after all the user set values have been set. Reading the recent thread about the open many tiddlers from one click [1] is a way forward I will try. After the user sets there vairables, they can click on a link and open all 25 questions. [tw] How do I make a text string into a 'tab' so that I can 'Open all'?
Hi I have found tags very useful to pull together text statements with similar themes. I particularly like the 'Open all' facility where all items with the same tag can be opened for viewing all at once. I have made a simple table to clearly show all the tags and the tag count for each tab. I would like to 'Open all' directly from the table. To do this I think I need to make a text string behave like a tag. It may be best to view the problem here: http://www.ettrickvillagehall.org/CommunitySurvey2008.html Look at Results Part One and you will see a table. I would like to click on the tags in that table and select 'Open all'. [tw] Re: How to "permalink" to a LOCAL TW-Tiddler from Windows applications like Mindmanager, Word, Thunderbird, ...
Oops, I relied to heavily on my memory. After checking my posts to the Outlook newsgroup is see that I did report that I was able to open a permalink using the command line, but that was the only way I could get to a specific tiddler on a locally stored TW, other than using a browser of course. The response I received in the newsgroup was that the file:// protocol is different than the html:// protocol. If that's the case then I'm very surprised that the permalink would work when I called up the browser from the command line and passed the permalink url to it that way. ~Roger On Jan 6, 12:59 pm, roger wrote: > I was trying to get the permalinks to work in Outlook 2007 and finally > posed the question in the MS Outlook newsgroup. [tw] Re: How to "permalink" to a LOCAL TW-Tiddler from Windows applications like Mindmanager, Word, Thunderbird, ...
I was trying to get the permalinks to work in Outlook 2007 and finally posed the question in the MS Outlook newsgroup. The only answer I received was that processing html anchors (a/k/a permalinks) doesn't work with local files. I don't know why that's the case, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with firefox as I couldn't open a local file to the permalinked tiddler using IE, Chrome or Firefox. I didn't try any other browsers. And it didn't matter which Windows application I was attempting to use as the permalink failed regardless of whether I was in Excel, Outlook, Word, OpenOffice Writer, Outlook Express... heck I even tried to do with Launchy and also batch file, all to no avail. I moved the TW file I was working with online and tested the same permalink from Outlook and it worked fine. For some reason, if the html file is stored locally, then the browser either won't process the anchor (#) or the anchor doesn't even get passed to the browser in the first place. I'm sure there's someone who knows why Windows behaves this way, but I couldn't track down the technical reason why that's the way it works (or doesn't work). ~ Roger On Jan 6, 8:54 am, FND wrote: > >>> that way a cookie exception can be added for localhost > > > does the way, how the URL is processed by Firefox 3 depend on some > > cookies? > > No; that page describes a workaround for Firefox 3's cookie issue - I > just thought it might help in your case as well (which doesn't seem to > be the case, unfortunately). > > > it would be really very helpful for the use of TW it it was > > possible to set hyperlinks from other windows application to a > > specific tiddler (on a locally stored TW) > > As I've said, I don't see any reason why this wouldn't work - anyone on > Windows who can confirm this issue? > > -- F. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw] TagglyTagging - Main purpose and how to begin?
Hi there, I still feel very encouraged by this intro text to this group (thanks for it!): >> New Users: Please don't hesitate to post your questions. Elsewhere you are >> expected to wade through the archives before posting any questions. But it's >> not like that here - just jump in. On quite a few occasions I read about TagglyTagging. So obviously this must be a pretty useful plugin. I tried to check at the source: http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#TagglyTagging But I wondered: was it really useful to read through all the things there? Because - already three years ago(!) - it says: >> What's different about TagglyTagging? Actually a lot less than there used to >> be since TiddlyWiki version 2.0! (TagglyTagging introduced the concept that >> a tag was a tiddler and vice-versa. Since version 2.0 this concept central >> to tagging in TiddlyWiki.) Does this mean TagglyTagging is not useful any more? (Since I didn't know TW from Version 1.x I have no idea how much TagglyTagging might have "lost" by the TW update) And 11 months ago the TagglyTagging source website says about it: >> Note, this stuff is a bit old and in need of redrafting in some places. >> Apologies. (Well, in my eyes there is no need to apologize, because rarely we have the time to keep all things up to date). In order to perhaps find some more updated infos I did a search for "TagglyTagging" here in this group, and it returned 631 postings. So this as well seems to be not a very efficient way to find a begginner's way why and how to use it. My question now is: does somebody perhaps know a tutorial or some other kind of text which could give TW beginners an idea about the purpose and the ways to use this plugin? [tw] Re: Custom title from Formtiddler
Take a look at the NewSavedTiddlerPlugin and NewButtons tiddlers at: http://monkeygtd.tiddlyspot.com/demo3.html#NewSavedTiddlerPlugin%20NewButtons It creates a pop-up to name a tiddler. The tiddler shows up in View mode so you can have your forms in there. Well, you *could* tweak the bullet formatter to recognize "." in addition to "*", but I don't recommend it: if you ever want to share a tiddler using your custom bullet syntax, it would require that the receiving document also have the same tweak, or the bullets will simply be rendered as-is (i.e. dots without indentation). Nonetheless, if this is decreased portability is acceptable for your specific use-case, the following code (in a tiddler tagged with 'systemConfig') should do the trick: --- var f=config.formatters[config.formatters.findByField('name','list')]; f.match="^(?:[\\.\\*#;:]+)"; f.lookaheadRegExp=/^(?:(?:(\.)|(\*)|(#)|(;)|(:))+)/mg; --- All this does is to add "\\." to the match pattern, and (\.) to the lookahead pattern. ViewTemplate and PageTemplate are *not* the same: * PageTemplate defines the layout of the whole TW page. * ViewTemplate defines the layout of each individual tiddler within the 'story column' ... and you *do* have a ViewTemplate... every TW document has one... [tw] Tagging/searching/transcluding/consolidating microcontent in TiddlyWiki?
Hi there, I really like TiddlyWiki and I'm planning to migrate from Zim: http://zim-wiki.org/ I've managed to do virtually everything I need and I'd like to know if there is a set of macros/plugins that allow me to do what I can do with the Todo plugin in Zim (and more). In brief, every page you write in Zim can include items like: TODO: call John There can be multiple TODO instances in each page and they can be liberally interspersed with the other content. The Zim Todo plug allows you to see all of these lines in one page, by dynamically building it each time the plugin is invoked. By carefully construction "TODO:" lines, you can also include things like priorities and deadlines. Is there a way in TiddlyWiki to: * tag a "tiddler portion" (for lacking of a better name) with one or more tags, the slice syntax would be good for many purposes and could be a good example of how to do it * specify in a search result that "tiddler portions" should be matched/ returned * transclude only a "tiddler portion", not the whole tiddler (like a slice) I played a bit with slices, DataTiddlerPlugin, PartIddlerPlugin, ForEachTiddlerPlugin but I haven't been able to achieve it. I could obviously avoid "microcontent" altogether and place it in individual tiddlers, individually tagged, linked in the main tiddler but this needs to be straightforward to do when creating a new tiddler (e.g. a journal entry, taking meeting notes in real time, etc.) otherwise it won't be really usable. I'm into explicit and long tiddler titles and the 2006 "CSS tweak for long tiddler titles" from gkw* keeps the timeline easy and pleasant to read thanks to "reverse indent" (i.e. "hanging" indent). [tw] Re: Announcing Math Equation upgrade to TWT-Notes
Morris, this is an interesting approach to have LaTex features in TW easily and more or less TW code indepently. Since the math equations are rendered as images and stored at a CodeCogs server, the question about their "life time" arise: how long are this images available on the CodeCogs site. One possible solution to this: downloading the images from the CodeCogs site, storing at the own file/web space and changing the image URL accordingly manually for all equations. To have this as automatism feature incorporated in your implemention would be a great ease.
