[tw] [TW5] How create SVG icons

2015-06-26 Thread andrew.j.harrison84

I've been using a program on my phone called isopix and have a PNG file with
what I want to turn into a Tiddlywiki icon for a plugin but I can't figure out
how to get it to be an embedded svg icon that uses polygon points like the
native icons in Tiddlywiki. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: [tw] Re: [TW5] Getting 5.1.8 ready for release

2015-04-06 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Great stuff with this coming release. I have a few questions regarding the
Corner ribbon plugin. Shouldn't it be possible to set the color of the ribbon
using a color field in the tiddler where the ribbon is defined? Maybe that is a
future upgrade? Are we trying to use fields or tags for color?

I don't want to be overcritical, but that background-prettyfying-stuff is
really the last thing I need.
Or not need at all. I like to keep things as simple and plain as possible,
Totally concentrating on

For future releases I would like to see more examples in the tiddlers that
explain certain concepts.
That would help people like me getting up speed more quickly. But maybe that's

Anyway TW5 is still a brilliant product and the community one of the most

I've also started more aggressive updates to the front page text. It's not

Ah, that makes perfect sense, glad to have got it figured out.

I can still send all the files I used to recreate the problem, just let me know

I've opened an issue for not being able to use upgrade.html to downgrade (!):

Yes Export sequence of tiddlers as static HTML sounds about right, I'dd
also like Export current tiddler(s) as static HTML .

The trouble with the latter wording is that it cannot be used in all three
locations that allow tiddlers to be exported.

An option to export only all visible tiddlers would be very desirable though,
if made available from the page tools.

I'm beginning to think that the page tools export button should actually bring
up a wizard that allows the operation to be customised (eg which tiddlers to be
used, templates, etc).

Best wishes

Jeremy.

RE: [tw] The Concept of Tags and Tagging

2015-01-16 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
I know this may not be what you want, but if you don't want a tag to show up on
the tags tab under the more tab in the sidebar, you can start a tag with $:/

Sent from my Samsung Epic™ 4G TouchMat matiasg...@gmail.com wrote:This was
originally intended as a post for a github discussion on Hidden tags but I
figure it could be of general interest.

[...]
I think a lot of what has come up [in that github thread] reflects different
ways of using a TW: There are different applications - however, more
fundamentally, there are simply different ways of thinking. It is not strange
that we have different needs for TW considering the close connection between TW
and ones brain. I partly think of tags as an analogy to cognitive associations.
Sometimes associations function as transitional segways (that reminds me of
X) but other times it is just a flash triggering into something. We can use
tags to categorize and elegantly structure tiddlers,. This takes logic and
thinking to do. But quite as often, tags are used in the much more ephemeral
activity; searching. Tagging is of course a key feature for effective search.
But the best tags for search efficiency are not at all necessarily those
carefully thought out and pretty category tags but instead actually whatever
pops into your mind! If I say yellow and you say banana, then you just
demonstrated that this is a more natural association than e.g colour. If I
want to trigger banana in your mind, then it could well be that yellow is a
more efficient word than the logicially much closer word fruit. This aspect
is not human irrationality, it is part of our cognitive power and extremely
efficient for our thinking processes and IMO we should take advante of this in
TW.

Let me give you a concrete example of this:

Just an hour ago I came up with a brilliant idea (yes, they're all brilliant
;-) that we should have a TW mockup notation consisting of graphic images,
such as a generic blank tiddler, a blank button, a blank tab, a blank
tagpill etc so that anyone easily can create nice mockups in TW to illustrate
ideas (primarily for the TW community, I guess). The idea is still very rough
and I've pretty much only made a quick tiddler to note down a few words so I
don't forget the idea when my brain whizzes off in other direction.

Where does this idea come from? Well, other than that I illustrate a lot of my
ideas to explain them, this is probably inspired by Astrids railroads and
Jeremys talk about different notations in TW. And quite possibly also by the
poster hullabaloo. These are associations I make, and it gives the concept a
context both in content and time.

Now, how should I tag this tiddler? Well, with some category tags for sure;
TWconcept, IdeaRank4, mockup. But I would really also want the much more
associative aspects: graphics, illustration, paint.net, railroad, Astrid,
draft, sketch, notation, model, Duarte, I fully understand that not
everyone can identify with this workflow, not to mention my associations. But
TiddlyWiki is for noting down things so this is not about trying to shoehorn TW
into something it isn't supposed to be, at least not as far as I can tell.
[Wanting to] tag like this is really about making TW fit around your brain. If
TW doesn't allow for this... it probably should.

However [referring to the github thread] a consequence of this is a lot of tags
that you don't want to see immediately - for (exactly) the same reason that you
don't want your brain to flash around if you're actually focussing on a
subject. Tags (associations) call for attention. For this reason it is
desirable to be able to hide tags from view mode(!) on command.
...

I'm reminded of the early search engines (was it Altavista or even before? And
*alt.net* or whatever it was called?). They tried to *structure* the internet
into categories. This was bound to fail and within a few years this was totally
replaced by the ad hoc search we still have (even if much refined). Also the
early email-boxes with strictly hierarchical folder structures. Feels logic
and things are in order... but it turns out our minds don't quite work like
that. We cross-correlate things. In the case of email, I think it was google
that first came up with tags for making things less rigid.

Hi everyone,

Here is my new TW community search:
https://rawgit.com/erwanm/tw-aggregator/master/tw-community-search.html
(it's not actually a search engine, rather an index; just thought
search was clearer).

The offline process downloads a predefined list of publicly available
wikis, then merges their content as system tiddlers into the new wiki.
The rest is customized TW search.

* The user cannot see the tiddlers directly on the search wiki: every
link (in the search results or by clicking on a tag pill) is converted
to an external link to the original tiddler (this solves the main issue
which appeared in the first version, where some content was broken due
to incompatible plugins/system tiddlers).

* Currently all non-system tiddlers are scraped from the indexed wikis,
but we can consider a more subtle system with special tags, fields or
whitelist/blacklist (see https://github.com/erwanm/tw-aggregator/issues/6)

The current list of indexed wikis can be found at
https://rawgit.com/erwanm/tw-aggregator/master/tw-community-search.html#CommunityWikis.

If you are the author of one of these, please tell me if you agree to
this use of your wiki: unless there is an explicit licence in you wiki
(and I didn't find any in the current list of wikis), I need your
explicit agreement for this reuse of your content. So please reply,
otherwise I will have to remove your wiki from the list... and obviously
the shorter the list the less useful the search will be. (I will also
send individual emails to the authors in case they don't check the TW
mailing list regularly).

Also if you are the author of a wiki which is not in the list and you
want it to be referenced, please tell me.

Mario had raised a few issues for the first version in
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/Tiddlywiki/qGk3aH731Pc/fZ0RvvsEyqAJ: the
first one is solved, and I hope to solve the second one about the
copyright issue soon. However the third one about google referencing I'm
not sure: I think (?) that the link farm problem is solved by the fact
that now links are built dynamically by some widget/macro code: there is
only one permanent link to every referenced wiki (i.e. not in every
tiddler anymore). However the duplication of the content might still be
an issue? If anybody knows how this works and what I can do about it,
please tell me!

Regards
Erwan

Once you know the versions are compatible then you could Sync to them to allow

Push or Pull Posting - Hey you might like this, and I LOVE THAT!!!
If they are not compatible then it just skips to the next TW.

I think it was Eric in a recent hangout(I misquote people all the time as you

Being able to have people 'share' content with 'trackback' will allow us to

The eat your own dogfood concept that comes up a lot.
Once People see all the buttery goodness we have they will be joining in

Honestly the more I work with TW I wonder who is even close to this technology

This goes to a question Jeremy asked, 'How do we promote TW?'
I know about the poster contest(great idea) and I agree we need to tell Tech

If we could simply talk between each other using TW, I think Jeremy calls it a
Federated TiddlyWiki, that would make more people jump up and notice.

The stuff I am creating is way more advanced then I thought I would ever be

RE: [tw] Re: [TW5] Tick Sheet

2014-12-20 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Thank you again for your suggestion Jed. You got me out of my programming
block. I didn't need the qualify macro instead I'm using $macrocall. I've got
my slider working with state saved in a temp file. I also got my edit text
field working with text stored in same temp file. I'm working on making it
clonable or maybe as a template for a new here button. I take alot of phone
calls and notepad is just not dynamic or fast enough. Eventually I'll get my
reset button, toggle hypertext, text2editTextField and copy2clipboard. If
anyone wants to give any more suggestions please do. t5a.tiddlyspot.com

Sent from my Samsung Epic™ 4G TouchJed Carty inmyso...@gmail.com wrote:After
a bit of poking to make this ( http://inmysocks.tiddlyspot.com/#Quick%20Notes )
I noticed two things, first the macro should be:

\define thisTempTiddler(stateNumber)
$:/temp/$(someName)$$stateNumber$
\end

with no space in the title, or there can be strangeness. Also, if you are going
to save the note you need to write it to a new tiddler because the qualify
macro may not remember the content after reloading the wiki. I am not sure
about that part because I am not sure how qualify works, but I would be careful
unless Jeremy or someone who knows how it works says otherwise.

Saving the text to a new tiddler requires using the tiddler widget to set the
temporary tiddler as the current tiddler. I only mention this here because I
spent half an hour trying to figure out how to get it to set the text correctly
instead of just saving something like $:/temp/--23456236!!text, which isn't
very helpful. http://inmysocks.tiddlyspot.com/#Write%20Quick%20Note shows what
I am talking about when I say using the tiddler widget.

Also I don't know how to make it stop saying something like `Type the text for
the tiddler '$:/temp/--1362158451'` when the state tiddler from using qualify
doesn't exist yet, placeholder text doesn't override that.

RE: [tw] Re: [TW5] Tick Sheet

2014-12-16 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Thank you for your suggestion. I am creating a temporary place for holding
information that can be cloned. Each clone has to have it's own seperate slider
states and text field and it‘s own reset button for that clone.

Sent from my Samsung Epic™ 4G TouchJed Carty inmyso...@gmail.com wrote:Do you
want to use this to keep temporary notes or do you want to create a permanent
tiddler from the input? I don't know exactly what you want but unless I
misunderstand you completely I should have most of what you are looking for.
You would probably want to use something like $:/temp/qualify for your
temporary tiddlers, but you may need to use a set widget and a macro.

So,

\define thisTempTiddler(stateNumber)
$:/temp/$(someName)$ $stateNumber$
\end

$set name=someName value=qualify
$edit-text tiddler=thisTempTiddler field='text'/
$buttonReset
$action-setfield $tiddler=thisTempTiddler $field='text' $value=/
$action-setfield $tiddler=thisTempTiddler 1 $field='text' $value='noshow'/
/$button

$reveal type='nomatch' state=thisTempTiddler 1 text='show'
$buttonshow
$action-setfield $tiddler=thisTempTiddler 1 $field='text' $value='show'/
/$button
/$reveal
$reveal type='match' state=thisTempTiddler 1 text='show'
$buttonhide
$action-setfield $tiddler=thisTempTiddler 1 $field='text' $value='noshow'/
/$button
something to reveal
/$reveal

/$set

Is that about what you want? It isn't formatted nicely but it should have the
parts.

If you want to make the tiddler permanent than you have to define the name
somehow and make a button that uses the action-setfield widget to set the
fields of a new tiddler to those stored in the temp tiddler, and optionally
clear the temp tiddler.

If that isn't it please ask and I will see if I can help.

Hey Rich,

I'm not very familiar with tiddlywiki yet - so there is a good chance that
there are better solutions, but here is what I've discovered yet:

1. If you just want plain text choose Type: Plain Text,  then whitespaces are
rendered as you type them - so you could just put like 4 of them at the
beginning of the line.
2. you can put css in your tiddlers - so you could try something like this:
@@margin-left:50px;
hello world
@@
3. There are some WikiText elements which are indenting text like block
quotes or definitions - I haven't found one which is just a indentation, for
example definitions will put a empty line after them. But perhaps this is
what you want anyway... You can check out all of them on
http://tiddlywiki.com/static/WikiText.html

Good luck

     Thank you so much for your input Tobias.
     I do need the fallback.
     The height wasn't me, it was Internet Explorer Developer (f12 key). I use
chrome and IE10.
     The z-index came from previous experiments with external images, embedding
and I plan on expanding my image to the full height of my tiddler once I figure
out the title bar and how to get it to float above the external image. It is
hard to program for all platforms.
     My quick tiddlyspot (name inspired by you) is t5a.tiddlyspot.com. Please

height: 600px;

Did you test that? Won't it distort the embedded image? Or would you just have
a bigger frame around a smaller image? Unless your images come in the same
size, I would not set a predefined height... but perhaps that's needed, didn't
test.

     z-index=-2;

Care to explain?

Also, what really helps is to make a quick TiddlySpot / upload a basic example

to check.

is risky if there are matching elements that are patterned the same way. I
still need to tweak it for different size screens but here is what I have in my
stylesheet, please let me know of possible problems:

html .tc-tiddler-body embed, .tc-tiddler-body iframe {
margin: -17px -0px -63px -43px;
width: calc(100% + 86px);
height: 600px;
z-index=-2;
border-bottom-right-radius: 1em;
border-bottom-left-radius: 1em;
-moz-border-radius-bottomright: 1em;
-moz-border-radius-bottomleft: 1em;
webkit-border-bottom-right-radius: 1em;
webkit-border-bottom-left-radius: 1em;
}

html .tc-tiddler-frame img, .tc-tiddler-frame svg, .tc-tiddler-frame canvas,
.tc-tiddler-frame embed, .tc-tiddler-frame iframe {
    max-width: calc(100% + 86px);
}

There's no class assigned to the iframe at the moment, so you'll have to wrap

div class=tc-my-transcluded-tiddler

Then in the stylesheet:

. tc-my-transcluded-tiddler iframe {
border: 10px solid red;

Would that be sufficient?

The iframe route (std html returned from Google) has interface problems (Print

I noticed that the buttons could get cut off even though you enabled them. Some
(generated) url parameters also appeared to not get through if you used that
url directly as the src attribute, rather than a url-shortened version... and I
believe the buttons were one of those.

I avoided this using an embedded object without iframe - this generates the
effect shown in the jpg: a clean render but TW generates an iframe, which seems
fixed in size position - the original problem.

Not sure if TiddlyWiki has special handling for embed. All I know is that embed
and object are equally as poorly standardized as they are implemented and vary
from browser to browser, and that's why Youtube, for example, skipped the whole
thing entirely as well and just provides iframe code for embedding. The dreaded
iframe is not the problem, me thinks.

Thanks for the reference - I'll talk with Tobias.

I think we could help you better if you would upload an example of what you
tried and a little notice that indicates what's wrong.

rather than the $view widget). If you want a non-breaking space in a field
that will be displayed as plain text then you need to use a keyboard shortcut
as suggested by Stephan. Wikipedia gives the keyboard shortcuts for each
operating system:

Re: [tw] Re: Drag Drop External File/Attachment linking

2014-11-06 Thread andrew.j.harrison84

I'm wishin, that like the operating system creates shortcuts, draggin the
favicon from the address bar into an open tiddler would create a tiddler with
the address in the _canonical_uri field, title in my subtitle field and content
field, and zTXt chunk the contents of any text from the page and tag it with
the name of the tiddler that I dragged it into. Maybe that could be a really
cool pluggin.

One point to note is that you'll get different behaviour if you drag the link
into the text editor within a tiddler you are editing ... We could indeed tweak
it to be a relative link if possible.

I think this would vastly improve the process of including files in TW.

By the way, when I drag a file into the text region of a Tiddler during editing
I get redirected by my browser to the file (using most recent Chrome on Win 8)
so I do not get the absolute link you mentioned.

The behaviour I was thinking about in my answers above is when you drag the
link into the rest of the TiddlyWiki window, which triggers the import
mechanism. It's still unclear to me what we should do when we try to import a
link.

I do not think the job of a drag-and-drop file-link inserter should include
determining what type of data the file-link leads to. That should be up to the
user to decide with [img[...]] or other user-defined file handling macros.

The most general simple solution would be that the drag-and-dropped function
should:

1. grab the absolute-file-link string file
such as: file:///d:/data/Proj/PhotoScrapbook/origs/%7B040%7DIM-3837.jpg

2. check that the file is within the TiddlyWiki's folder
for example: d:/data/Proj/PhotoScrapbook/

3. paste the appropriate link into a text box
if it is in under same folder as the TiddlyWiki then paste the relative file
link text : file:.//origs/%7B040%7DIM-3837.jpg
and if the file is not under that folder assume the user wants the file to be
imported into the TiddlyWiki are raw text.
could also have the option to paste the absolute path link text :
file:///d:/data/Proj/PhotoScrapbook/origs/%7B040%7DIM-3837.jpg (although I am
not sure under what scenario this would be useful).
How does that sound? Is that doable or does that violate some browser security
limitations?

* Added a toolbar button for advanced search
* Changed dragging behaviour so that you can drag a tiddler title into an edit
box to insert the title, making link creation easier. (This change doesn't
affect the behaviour of dragging tiddler links between TiddlyWiki windows)
* Added additional theme tweaks for the body text size and line height
* Extended the ViewWidget to work with subtiddlers
* Fixed problem with search counts
* Fixed problem with missing wiki folder warnings under Node.js
* Added coloured warnings and errors under Node.js

See the release note at http://tiddlywiki.com/#Release%205.1.3 for more details.

Re: [tw] Re: Mark external links using CSS and inline image

2012-10-06 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
ok, well i am on my way to answering my own question. I was stuck on trying
to use head.js because it had some psuedo-class defining but not the hover
class. So now i think I'll look into lab.js+modernizr or some other
combination. From what I read on the internet about best practices, it is
best to load an external file so it can be cached by the browser. Does
AttachFilePlugin do browser caching? I want svg graphics since I understand
that is where technology is headed but ie7 wont display svg. Anyone have
any suggestions?

Re: [tw] Re: Tiddlywiki and head.js

2012-09-29 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
The following list is extensive and I have a huge amount to learn in order
to achieve a true serverless multi-user wiki so here it goes:
Using Head.js (because I am running ie7 and I want the HTML5 and CSS3
classes) load as much as possible of the TWcore and JSplugins as external
minified not gzipped (because it slows things down a little unless someone
else has any better way) files and also most external tiddlers except for
and after external CSS and external default tiddlers have been loaded.
Please feel free to pick apart my logic because all I want is for it to
open up and display the top drop down menu (more on this later) and default
tiddlers as soon as possible and everything else lazily load from external
(minified) files. I'd like to use newest language as possible and was
trying to explore node.js but that was server-side and I can't install
anything so was looking into Require.js but then I found Angular.js and
CoffeeScript and so now I am considering using Head.js, Angular.js, and
CoffeScript...whew. I want the externalization because I want speed and the
benefits of having multiple users being able to play with different files
at the same time just not the same file at the same time if you can
understand what I mean. Hitting edit will edit the tiddler within same
window and lock the source file so only one user can update that tiddler at
that time. Hitting done button saves the tiddler or better put, just the
modifications and unlocks the tiddler file and the bi-directional
data-binding that Angular.js provides updates real-time the entire wiki and
it would be nice to figure out how it would update everyone's wiki that has
it open real-time. My top CSS3 menu will have rounded corners and can also
have multiple columns in the drop down menu and it also includes an iframe
shim because it has to display over the top of objects and iframes that I
have embedded in tiddler. I am using embedded iframes to display PDF files
that are on an intranet. I am also using embedded objects to display actual
web pages and video on our intranet right within tiddlers and I needed the
iframe shim technique to display the top menu over the objects which was
really annoying (thank you microsoft, not). I plan to eliminate the
backstage altogether because I don't need it anymore and it takes up allot
of room. I plan to find a real-time spellchecker with those red squiggly
underlines in edit mode only. Oh, I also would like it to actual visually
display text formatting like what you see when you replay to a message in
gmail with the formatting menu at the top of the edit box. I foresee being
able to still use the wikitext but since I will have bi-directional
data-binding even in the edit window also, it will convert the wikitext to
actual visually formatted text well, mostly, maybe or maybe not for tables.
Ok, so now that you know my plans please feel free to offer any advice
before I learn a language that turns out to not be what I need or any logic
arguments. Thank you.

which js do you want to externailize? TW core or some 3rd party stuff?

TW at github [1] actually has a build script, that creates a small
TW.html file ~25kByte. TWcore, jQuery ... is external and loaded at TW
startup time. So the browser can load this stuff from the browser
cach. If you have a slow connection, this may improve loading speed.
But it doesn't do async loading (see Jeremy's post).

[tw] Tiddlywiki and head.js

I am using ie7 and I attempted using head.js to load external js files but
no matter what syntax I use, nothing happens. It seems to load but then
it's as if nothing was loaded, even when I put head.ready();. Is there some
sort of tiddlywiki magic that wikifies the loaded javascript that would
make it playable with tiddlywiki? I'm trying to run an exploded version of
Tiddlywiki that loads the js files asynchronously.

I've been playing with tiddlywiki 5 hoping I can somehow run it in exploded
version with multiple files asynchronously without having to install
node.js. I was hoping to hijack the edit and done buttons so that edit does
to one tiddler what tiddlylock does and then done saves it so multiple
users can be editing multiple tiddlers, but I can't find an eqivelent js

knows, it might be a step in the multi-user direction? I also have to
convince my employer to upgrade to ie9.

Perhaps just limited encrypted Usenet?

Funny you should mention that. NNTP is, to my mind, the world's greatest
messaging protocol. Back in the day, Netscape built a collaboration
server that added access controls and some management functions to an NNTP
server - it was an incredibly powerful tool.

In some sense, the model sitting in the back of my mind, is:
- NNTP (with encryption and crypto-based access controls)
- easier management of (private) group creation
- messages containing HTML JavaScript that can do some embedded
threading (think about sending a Wiki page, the initial page shows up as a
news message, edits are automatically applied rather than showing up as
separate messages)

Also perhaps:

 Yes... saw that a while back - does look really interesting.

Re: [tw] Video backgrounds

2012-08-01 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Hi, I struggled alot with this very same issue because the video player has
a different set of z-index and can only be forced back under your other
content with an iframe shim. Trust me when I say it was a maddening issue.
What I did was to create a iframe shim over the area where the video showed
up and then set the z-index for that to less then for where the content
shows up. In other words setting z-index for content to a higher level then
the shim. The problem I faced was completely covering up the video..You
might try setting wmode. I don't mean to oversimplify but at least it might
give you a good starting point. It was really a complicated mess. If anyone
with a better solution I'd like to hear it. I put my iframe shim in a
tiddler and then transcluded it into the pagetemplate.

Well, I found that I could remove the bottom padding from the css but now I
have to put br at the end of every tiddler and it is quirky if the
tiddler ends witj a table or anything hidden with /% and %/ but it is a
small price to pay for an inline pdf viewer that fills the tiddler area
almost completely. My only problem is because I am trying to transclude the
frame using a variable and AliasPlugin and it does display but I cant
figure out where it is getting it's z-index value from. I tried setting it
in css on the frame in the viewer and it works there but when I transclude
it, it displays in front of everything and I want to send it behind my top
drop down menus. Anyone familiar with z-index and frames and transclusion

Re: [tw] Re: Displaying inline pdfs using pdf.js

2012-05-16 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Ok so I figured out that if I set the padding to a percentage, then I can
apply a negative margin on the left and display width of 107 percent and
the viewer fills the tiddler like I wanted but I just can't figure out what
to do with the padding at the bottom of the tiddler that sticks out under
the viewer. Also, I set the z-index value but when I transclude it, it
seems to loose the value because it displays in front of my drop down menu
but behind it when viewed from the viewer tiddler itself. Any ideas?

I am wondering, if I use the viewer, how do I get it to display in the full
area of my tiddlers. I have the following in StyleSheet. It was set
that way so that other text would display with cool looking tiddlers with a
blue background but when the viewer displays, it leaves a white space
around it because of the padding. I need the padding for other tiddlers but
not the viewer. How do I take the padding off if I am going to use the
viewer? Anyone?

2012-04-15 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
OK, so I had to change StyleSheet and now it works. So here is the final
transcluded inline links by tag where %0 is the tag passed to the alias. If
anyone comes up with something easier or if there is already a plugin out
there, please let be know. I feel like I am reinventing the wheel. The
reason I created this is because i have included tiddlers which the titles
sometimes change and break all my links so now the tiddler titles can
change all they want and the tag keeps the links working. Id rather it use
something like the created field but I couldn't figure out how to do that.
This also helped me figure out how to transclude css styling which is also
useful to me. Isn't Trasnclusion wonderful.

{{nobullets{list filter [tag[201203210105]]}}}

Where 201203210105 is the tag. If anyone knows a better way that doesn't
require css styling, maybe something that can be put into an alias I would
appreciate it. Anyone?

2012-03-23 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
I just found Erics DigitalClock and I like the leading zeros for minutes
and seconds but not hours but when the hours is only single digit, my whole
top menu shifts over a space. How can I format it to have a leading space
instead of a leading zero if the hour is only a single digit? And I also
have to figure out how to add 15 minutes, 30, 45, and 1 hour so when I
click it, it doesn't pause but instead copies current time and those times
to my textbox form. Any suggestions?

Hey just wanted everyone to know, after my tiddlywiki stopped saving with

worked in one profile but not in my main profile even though I played with
every possible setting in IE and even manipulated the registry. After I

[tw] Load external tiddlers lazily

2012-03-02 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Ok, I'm once again trying to incorporate external word documents as
searchable tiddler content. IncludePlugin is great if I save as html and
then copy everything in the body and put between html/html tags and
then export it, but when I try to load 250 external tiddler files it takes
a really long time to display. Is there a way to flush the buffers just
after the defaultTiddlers and then load the rest lazily? Maybe there is a
better way? It has to end up searchable so iframe isn't an option. Maybe
putting something like ?php flush(); ? somewhere? I was hoping
Tiddlywiki5 could solve my problem?

Re: [tw] Re: Sectionlinks plugin

2012-02-19 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Ok. I couldn't have done half of what I've acomplished without you Eric and
I wish I had some money to tip you because you are The Guru. I want to give
back in some way so I'll tell you a little about what I did. I still don't
like having to transclude bullets into my tables but I'll live with it
because I figured out how to transclude it in from a hidden section within
the same tiddler. I have a top fixed menu so the problem was, I could't
figure out where to put the anchors since SectionLinkPlugin does't work
with hidden sections. Well, I finally figured out that if I put the anchor
at the top of my hidden section and then
@@display:block;padding-top:60px;margin-top:-60px;@@ then when it
transcuded in, it would scroll to where I want it to when I click the
bookmark. How cool that I've learned this from previous tiddlytools plugins
and Eric's valuable instruction. I didn't stop there though, I also then
used AliasPlugin again Eric I bow to you and actually for each of my
bookmarks in my huge table transcluded the actual anchors and formatting so
all I have to put at the top of each hidden section is a a or whatever
letter I want to use as the tag ID for my Alias and then the second letter
for the bookmark. That saved me so much space and time that I feel like a
time lord. Thank you again Eric for all your help.

SectionLinksPlugin scrolls you to the section heading that defines the
section. It is not based on CSS, so there is no padding that you
can add to a class in your StyleSheet.

If you want to scroll to a different location within the tiddler, you
need to create either a section heading at that location, e.g.,
 !somename
or an HTML anchor at that location, e.g.,
 htmla name=somename //html

The first method creates an actual section definition within the
tiddler, using standard TWCore heading syntax. You can then link to
that section (e.g., TiddlerName##somename) or transclude that
section (e.g., tiddler TiddlerName##somename)).

However, that method also renders the section heading as a header (H1)
format within the content, so it is visible to the user. If you want
to create an *invisible* location for scrolling, you need to use the
second method, which creates a named HTML anchor that can be used in
links that hot-scroll (e.g., TiddlerName##somename), but does
*NOT* create a section definition or visible heading output.

Re: [tw] Re: How assign id to a header the tiddlywiki way

2011-10-18 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
ok, I figured out what was causing SectionLinksPlugin to not work on my
tiddlywiki. I have a fixed menu at the top of my page and the right scroll
bar only goes up to the bottom of the top menu as follows:
StyleSheet
/*{{{*/
html, body { background:lightblue; height: 100%; overflow:hidden; }
#header2{ position:fixed; top:0px; left:0px; height:55px; }
#content2{ position:absolute; bottom:0px; top:55px; left:0px; right:0px;
overflow:auto; }
#displayArea2 {margin:1em 1em 0 0;}
/*}}}*/
PageTemplate
!--{}--

The problem is that the reason I designed it this way was so that I could
have a fixed menu at the top and when you click on a bookmark it would
scroll to that place but keep the menu at the top. However; for some reason
I don't understand, SectionLinksPlugin doesn't function when I have my menu
fixed at the top. Anyone know why?

traversing back through the conversations on my way out and it makes
more sense to me. Actually, this is what I currently do, but the
returning is not automatic. Rather I'm scrolling to find the
tiddler I was looking at before. Sometimes I lose track of what I was
thinking about and my screen becomes filled with tiddlers that are no
longer in my topic thread.

A solution: When opening B from a link in A, place B *above* A and
then have the screen scroll to B. This way, I naturally scroll down
when reading B and once finished I will again be in A.

Other small improvements: place the close tiddler control at the
bottom of tiddlers (that's easy enough). Also, if a tiddler is
already open when a link for it is clicked, *move* it to just above
the source tiddler and scroll to it rather than just scrolling to
wherever it currently is.

Is there any way to currently do this? I once used TW as
documentation for a project and then handed the TW over to my client,
but I'm afraid that using a TW for just reading can be a bit
disorienting.

Just so you know, right click and copy only copies the path, not the pretty
link. I am still working on this. I know it is possible.

if you format value correctly it should be working fine. (the

as for a pretty-link (where you mask the url by displaying some
other text, right? url ) you would copy the entire text|
url combination.

as far as I know, you can only copy one string to the clipboard. so
if you want to copy text as well as url (as two separate values)
this is not going to work. Or you will need to combine both in a
single string.

When you select and copy from tiddlywiki it brings with it some unwanted

[tw] How to start the scrollable displayarea under a fixed topmenu

I add a DropDownMenuPlugin at the top of my tiddlywiki and set the display

below the drop down menu and right now it scrolls starting at the top of the

With any browser (in fact any application) under Windows, select the
hyperlink and press Ctrl-C.

How it actually renders in your target location when you paste it (Ctrl-V)

will depend on how that application handles URLs.

If I'm misunderstanding your question, please clarify with more specifics
about your context.

Re: [tw] Re: shared pool of tags for multiple TWs

2011-06-17 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Is there a way to silence the display of loadtiddlersplugin message at the
top in orange that displays how many tiddlers were loaded? It is annoying
and I have to hit close twice for it to go away.
On Jun 17, 2011 9:04 AM, HansBKK hans...@gmail.com wrote:
Sorry this is so involved - first, the background:

My current thinking is that the external source is simply a repository
containing a hierarchy of tags which I want to maintain centrally. These
tags will be applied to many - currently a dozen, eventually hundreds of
separate different content sets (lets call them books), which are stored

in separate TW files, containing somewhat related types of content, but
not
on exactly the same topics.

The master contains the universal concepts common to all the texts,
which
hierarchy is important to keep consistent across all the TW files.

But each individual TW file will need to also have its own specific
terminology - internal, local taxonomy - that doesn't need to - in fact
shouldn't - exist in the central thesaurus master.

For example, if I were cross-indexing hundreds of source texts from all
the
major religions - in the master file I maintain the thesaurus of
universal
values terms - ethical concepts, personality traits, states of mind,
behavioral practices etc that are common to nearly all the major
religions.
However Islam has its own set of specialized terms, which I want do want
to
index within the Muslim TW files; Buddhism has a lot of its own set of
unique terms as well, Hinduism, etc.

If I had to maintain each of the separate religions' terms together all
mixed in with the universal set, the master becomes much more difficult to

manage.

Now from the POV of processing a given text:

Tagging a books' tiddlers is much more difficult if I have to try to
remember which terms are universal and which are specific to that religion
-
it works much better if I can first run through the text applying all the
master tags in one pass, and then make a separate pass applying the local
ones.

Now that I think about it, since I'm likely to end up with multiple
Buddhist
TWs - one mahayana and one theravada - or perhaps I start hitting
performance issues and want to split the ancient Hindu texts out from the
more recent ones, it would probably be better to simply talk about
separating the tag hierarchies not just local vs external but more
generally
by source - multiple external sources, with if it isn't too much of a
problem still leaving the possibility for local-only ones.

Re: [tw] Re: Collaboration using Dropbox - looking for investigators

2011-05-12 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
I am wondering how difficult would it be to hijack new tiddler so that
it would create a new tiddler file with the title as the file name in pure
store format and then automatically add it to an include list in the include
pure store tiddler in the same folder. I only need it for IE7. I am still
trying to create multi user environment without server and without dropbox
with just shared folders and I am almost there. I also need a lazy include
somehow.

[tw] copyHyperlinktoClipboard

2011-04-22 Thread andrew.j.harrison84
Well, I figured out the copy to clipboard icon, but now I am trying to
figure out how to program a copyHyperlinktoClipboard where it will copy a
pretty hyperlink into the clipboard. I am using IE7. What I have so far
doesn't seem to work. So far I have:
copyHyperlinktoClipboard
/%
!show
htmlnowikia href=javascript:; title=$2
onclick=
var newtext='$1';
var element = newtext.split(|);
var linkElement = document.createElement(a);
linkElement.setAttribute(href, element[1]);
linkElement.innerHTML = element[0];
var linkSubElement = document.createElement(div);
with (linkSubElement) {
contentEditable = true;
}
linkSubElement.appendChild(linkElement);
var r = document.body.createTextRange();
r.moveToElementText(linkSubElement);
alert(linkSubElement);
r.select();
r.execCommand(Copy);
return false;
/$1/a/html
!end
%/tiddler
with:

If anyone can help with this I would appreciate any help. As you can see, I
am not very good at programming. I was hoping that by using
tiddler copyHyperlinktoClipboard with: Pretty link|http://prettylink.com;
could copy pretty links to the clipboard so that when pasted it is a
hyperlink that says Pretty link but when clicked takes you to
http://prettylink.com.
