I don't know what the security risks are, but you can easily enable SMB1 as follows... - click on the search icon in the taskbar and type Turn windows features on or off. Open the Control Panel menu and scroll to SMB then click the server and client boxes. Restart might be necessary. You can now map your drive in file explorer. I have then gone back to the SMB menu and disabled SMB1. The mapped drive remains functional after disabling SMB1. jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114345 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I recently did the same to one of my Touch units while setting up my system after moving to a new house. I'd be willing to attempt a repair if I could find a how-to guide. jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113328 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

They are a large company with lot's of policies/procedures. They probably have many policies that cover proprietary information, including something like, "we don't release proprietary Information". Even though it is not significant information, it's more work to manage exceptions than to just enforce policy. I also suspect that Logitech has centralized decision making, which can require high level approval of even simple decisions. Something like this would never get very far. jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104751 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch and dac
garym wrote: Then you're already NOT using the Touch's DAC. You are instead using the Denon's DAC. And if you add a DAC in between the TOUCH and the Denon, it will still be using the Denon DAC unless the Denon has a pure analog pass-thru capability (and as pointed out, many AV receivers do NOT have this option). And if it does not have pass through, then of course there is no point in changing from your current setup, if you need to continue using the AVR. Putting analog into the Denon will just convert to digital so that the AVR's digital processing can be done, and then back to analog with the Denon DAC. This assumes your model does some type of DSP, etc. jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103285 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Unplugged Touch lost 7.8
I assume you are referring to the Touch firmware update, not LMS 7.8? You may have been running LMS 7.8 with an older firmware on the Touch. Recently the Touch has called for a firmware update also called 7.8. The Touch refers to the update as a software update, which can be confusing if you're thinking it want's to update your LMS version. jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101103 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

[SlimDevices: Touch] Touch remote control issue
My Touch no longer responds to using the alpha letters for jumping to a new position in menu's. If I'm in artists for example and want to hit j to jump to the j artists, nothing happens. This function works with the Touch remote on my SB3 and Boom, as do my older remotes, so it seems like it's related to the Touch rather than the remote. I've rebooted but no factory reset yet. I can't find any reference to the remote in SBS settings and a search came up blank. I'm running 7.6.2 and don't know if this began with the update from 7.5x. It's a pain scrolling through the menu's letter by letter! Any suggestions are welcome. -- jfo jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91059 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] soundcheck's Touch Toolbox 2.0
Those who have complete disdain for that superstitious scientific stuff may want to check out this new product from Machina Dynamica... Machina Dynamica's latest product, Codename Blue Meanies, is a set of 4 adhesive-backed 3/4 blue dots that are attached to the walls of the listening room, one dot per wall. If there are only three walls in the room, two blue dots should be placed on one of the walls. Codename Green Meanies are now available for the ceiling of the listening room, one or more per ceiling. The Blue Meanie is neither a damper nor a resonator so it's location on the wall, unlike dampers and resonators, is not critical whatsoever. A Blue Meanie can be placed anywhere on the wall; it can even be hidden behind a picture or bookcase. Four white 3/4 removeable paper stickers are provided to cover the blue dots if desired, making them less conspicuous. Codename Blue Meanies operates via mind matter-interaction. The subconscious mind interacts with room boundaries, i.e., closed-in spaces, producing a claustrophobic reaction that interferes with and degrades the listener's sensory perception. Price $99 for set of 4 Blue Meanies. Additional benefits can be obtained by placing more than one Blue Meanie per wall and by placing one or more Blue Meanie on walls of other rooms in the house. Likewise, one or more Green Meanie can be used for the listening room ceiling and for ceilings of other rooms in the house. NOW AVAILABLE!! - Codename Green Meanies for the ceiling. Price $25 each. CUSTOMER COMMENTS I listened to the dots last night and there seems to be a clear improvement in making the music less congested. Thought I'd chime in here about the Phil comments. I simply don't get the comments about attitude, etc. I've read so many of his posts over the years and can't recall ever seeing what a couple of you have described as holier than thou. etc. Informative, concise, technical but written in plain language, willing to help and give his years of experience to the forum. He can be blunt, but is usually very patient with those who know less about his areas of expertise. He hasn't attacked Klaus's mods, but isn't willing to accept them at face value either...so what? Neither am I. And no, I don't know him personally I do respect the effort Klaus has put into the mod's and his willingness to help others with installation, etc. But please don't be offended by those of us who would like meaningful evidence. The thread is entering the nasty territory of subjective vs objective...perhaps this is inevitable given the nature of the mod's. -- jfo jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84742 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

These tags will not alter your audio content in any way and can be enabled/disabled for each player you may have. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] FLAC v Apple Lossless on TinySB?
This is an Apple tip for conserving battery life... Use Compressed Songs: The iPod cache works most efficiently with songs of average file sizes (less than 9MB). If your audio files are large or uncompressed (including AIFF or WAV format), you may want to compress them, or use a different compression method, such as AAC or MP3, when importing them into iTunes. Also, consider breaking very long songs or tracks into shorter tracks that have smaller file sizes. If you encode your music at 128 Kbps, your iPod will fill its cache about every 25 minutes. -- jfo jfo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1135 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=83799 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
