Re: [translate-pootle] Scots Gaelic
Hi Friedel, 16/05/2011 07:04, sgrìobh F Wolff: Hi Michael Sorry for the delay. Sorry about being pushy ;) I'm not normally but on WordPress it so happens that I'm collaborating with someone (which isn't normally the case) and I'm meeting him later this week and promised I'd show him how it works. With this in mind, I guess you will want to choose either VLC or Minimal VLC, not both. I don't think the WordPress template is up to date, but if we just get the latest POT file, it is easy to get it up to date. So if you indicate how we move forward, I can hopefully have you set up quickly. Friedel Might as well go for the full VLC then, and WordPress. By the way, is Pootle capable of doing a bit of magic to extract any matching strings from the translated Mozilla stuff? This one I guess? http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress-i18n/pot/trunk/wordpress.pot Sorry, WordPress is still confusing the heck out of me with their .org/.com split ... and I though Mozilla was convoluted ;) Ok, as soon as you have it figured out, upload it here, overwriting the current wordpress.pot file (ensure that you select overwrite): http://pootle.locamotion.org/templates/wordpress/ Then you can visit your translation of wordpress here: http://pootle.locamotion.org/gd/wordpress/ ... go the files tab and update it to the new POT file. Ok. I assume you saw that the full VLC is really large. Yes. I have (an old) .po file locally but I'd rather do it online and reuse as many existing strings as possible. I also added VLC for your language. Guys, I don't mean to nag but it can't that *that* long to get a project added on here? Friedel kindly added Scots Gaelic to the list of languages on the 5th, Dwayne explained why doing Mozilla project on here in parallel is bad roundabout the tenth but that still leaves the others that I asked to have added (Minimal VLC, VLC and WordPress). I'm not too worried about pushing them to Mozilla - as i said before I'm still happy working with Narro (now that the blip seems to be over) but Narro is a bit of a one man band just now and I'd like a backup for my locale that someone could maintain who hasn't been sleeping with it for the last year or so. Yeah I can pull them if they're in Mozilla. Although I only really want to pull released versions so that they align en-US to Scots Gaelic. Our files are in PO format so there's a bit of work to covert things from Mozilla to PO. I'm not sure it's that helpful as a backup since your translations seem to be in Mozilla Mercurial repo already. As a backup translation platform I can get you going in a few hours. So unless you are actually going to use Pootle to translate I don't think there is much value. If that's a bad idea, let me know? I think it is :) So unless you plan to use Pootle to translate I think you are pretty much covered in terms of backup.
