The way that reads, we only choose 3 themes. It's supposed to be 5. Or did I miss something?

I really do understand how urgent this is, but I don't think that is
enough time for everyone to vote - It isn't fair to stop someone from
voting because they haven't checked their email today...

Given the urgency, maybe we could release provisional results at 0700
- stating how many people have voted (19 members registered at
Launchpad). IF there are some themes or a Usplash that is clearly the
winner/will clearly be included then great, we start packaging them,
but if things are close and not everyone has voted then we really
should give it some more time. I would suggest another 24 hours. What
do others feel?

Let's just get this over with already, and I have a great idea: Maybe we
should all go on IRC (specifically the ubuntu-art channel), someone
bring a pen and paper (or similar), and we can all vote together there!
That's how they did elections back in the days, before the advent of the
secret ballot system. As people voted, the votes were announced to the
people awaiting results (and preparing to vote).

The rationale for that choice is that out of the all the options, it is
the one that is best suited from a scaling/aliasing perspective and is
already packaged appropriately for Dapper.

Note that if the team decides on an option which doesn't work for
technical reasons, the timelines involved mean that we may not have time

I myself can't do it, but I can explain what's going on to one of the
Launchpad administrators and they'll be able to set up the poll for you. It'd
be good if you could join #launchpad on freenode.net so we can sort out the

Polls can be created only by team admins. In case you're not an administrator
(nor the team owner) of the team you're trying to create the poll, you need
to ask the team owner to promote you to an administrator.

If you are an administrator of that team, you should just need to login to be

Thus, whether a theme is 'internal' or 'external' won't really affect
which package it ends up in, or how we vote (unless we are a loyal

However, the Wiki days different - what does everyone else take these to mean?

-internal are to replace and clean out the old gnome defaults, except Clearlooks

-external are any theme, whether ubuntu-arteam or elsewhere, that will be in an 'extras' package.

Mark, correct me if I have that wrong, because that is what I put on the wiki.

So it is obvious that is would matter how we vote but Mark doesn't want to make the voting that complicated, or something. Then again, only three have been proposed for external so it really 'doesn't' matter. More people would have to be willing that there theme was not installed by default. Supprise, supprise! :D

which package it ends up in, or how we vote (unless we are a loyal
bunch :P)

However, the Wiki days different - what does everyone else take these to mean?

You need to input uppercase characters only.

PS: WHY did you not add that link to the wiki page, Billy? I've just
added it, but why didn't you? It's being monitored by people who'd
want to vote, and it is a rather important vote. I also think that we
should get explicit consent for this vote. When we do, that too
should be added to the wiki page.

Does anyone here have such magical powers _and_ some time?

I've emailed JoelM, admin at launchpad ubuntu-art, and he didn't  know about any of this.
So I don't know who else does, other than Mark.
